Good evening all,

A quiet day.  It is cold.  I went to the fieldhouse and did 3 miles in 50:35.  Leg was fine while I was there but got sore after I got home.  Heating pad helped some, but next time I will do just the walking and not try to job any.   Did not do much else today.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Evening all!

Busy weekend with a big local train show we took the Lionel style modular to. Lots of kids to run trains and all had a great time.

Phish - my experience the last 10 years is routers (wireless and wired), switches/hubs, etc., for home & small office use only last about 2 years on average. Then they start to degrade, making one think there are problems with your PC or internet provider. So I have learned (after many embarrassing IT support calls) to first hook my PC directly to my fiber/ cable modem and if it works as it used to performance-wise then I start replacing my network elements starting witht the wireless router. So would I trust a rebuild - unlikely.

Have a great day tomorrow all!

Regards, Roy

Good afternoon from cool (30's) Southern Ohio,

RT-I receiced your box, Thank you.

Bob-Thanks, doing the job myself saved me $2000 in labor from a shop.

Banks-love that Cummins. Good move with the donor truck then scrap the leftovers.

SJ-The modular layout sounds really cool

It turns out our router is the source of our internet problems, so we'll see about replacing it.  Anyone get refurbed routers from Amazon before?

inside decorations down and put away. Just the second story lights and garage lights left to take down, then the kids will help put them up in the loft Monday as they are off from school for MLK Birthday

Good night and may God bless

Yep - it's gettin' a bit cold here in Chi-town! Repaired an MPC log dump car last night which the boy thoroughly enjoyed.  Mom was spending the night out with her friends so we stayed up running the layout until 9PM (shhh-don't tell!) Was thinking about expanding the layout with another 75' of track picked up off Da Bay around the basement stairs but thought better of it - even I know my limits of what we can do when she's away...

Been reconditioning three Lionel ALCO shells the last few days. Got them blasted down to the bare plastic and installed replacement front lower shirts. They are ready for paint and looking good.  Yes
Will be picking up the two year old in about an hour so he can spend the day. Surprise

Good evening all,

Quiet day.  Helped wife de-decorate the tree.  May get everything packed up and up in the attic tomorrow.  Watched Leicester City tie Aston Villa 1-1 today.   Ran all sorts of trains tonight.   Although the weather is cold, it was  a good day.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Phish the modular layout is owned by The Detroit Historical Society. We set it up at train shows and Henry Fords Greenfield Village for special occassions like live steam Thomas, Christmas at the village, ect. We have enough tables to go 30 by 30(est) Much time and money has been put into it without payment. We use our own trains and scenery. The tables are wood with folding legs and screw leverers. Fastrack and heavy gauge extension cords for 3 loops of track. Conventional, TMCC and Legacy for running. CW-80s are used for the trolley and lighting.

The Glancy modular layout and our club are entirely seperate.

However some of us are part of both.

Hello there,

Phish mom has had a few TIA'S or mini strokes. She was never diagnosed with alzhiemer but she suffers from severe short term memory loss.  can't trust her to be alone. Mrs and I have been staying with her since dad passed last January 23. Her health has declined considerably the last couple of months.

Sons truck is late 90s 4wd Dodge  with the 6 cylinder cummins. Last year before electronic engine control .  Mechanically its sound but the body is rusted beyond repair. He went to chiefs neighborhood and bought a worn out 2wd for $2000. And is putting the body on his.

Best move on

Prayers for those in need

Good morning all,

Went to Outback last night for a steak break after all the Chinese food earlier in the week.  It was good as were the coconut shrimp apps.

Another physical therapy session yesterday went well.  Sleeping better now.  They looked at my pillow and said get another one.

BOC, keep up the good recovery.

#2 son gone again until Sunday night with his fiancee.  We don't see him much anymore.

L.A. Rams back in town after 21 years.  No word about the Chargers yet.  Rams will play in Collosium in L.A. until new stadium is built in Inglewood on site of old Hollywood Park Race Track.

Gold Line Light Rail news:  Line will open on time on March 5th including station at the end of the line that was opposed by local home development and colleges until better access roads are built.  They wanted to extend the oppening for another 5 months after tax payers have spent over 7 million or billion.    They've only had three years to get ready for this.  Duh!  Metrorail denied their request.  Say delay would not be fair to tax payers.  Good on them.

Hello all

Clear and cold here on the mountain.

Got the rear bumper installed on the Corvan last week. Looks good. Went ahead and ordered the original style muffler and tailpipe, as the turbo style muffler I have on it now just doesn't quite fit the space right. Will use it for the '63 Coupe.

After filling the tank more than half full found out I still have a drip. The tank was cleaned and tested last summer. Oh well, when I get back put the new muffler on and take the tank back out. Will give me a chance to replace the speedometer cable anyway.

And Bill and I pulled apart the rear bearing units from that parts car. Overall they are in pretty good shape. New seals and some grease fittings and they will be a big change from the 'holy rollers' that are on the car now:)

Noticed in the recent issue of MR that there is a train show coming up in Feb in Phoenix. Since it's even on a weekend when I am off will have to try and go up to that one.

JimS - nice work on the truck. That's a big job.

BOC - good to hear you are doing better

Hopefully the Chief is taking care of himself. And I guess the beavers get a bit of a break...:)

Afternoon all from cool 40F and overcast Southern Ohio

I finished the injectors on the truck last night, put it on the battery charger then early this morning went out to start it.  After priming the system it started on the third try!  Praise be to God!  I put it back together, fender liners, front wheels, hood out of maintenance position and took it for a drive.  It ran great!  No smoke and balance rates are back in spec!  Now take down outside decorations before it gets real cold.

Fife-Fortunate the tire blowout worked out for the Princess

SJ- Tell more about your modular layout, it sounds interesting

RT- Frustrating waiting for others

Mike-Dirt track racing is really popular around here too

Banks- Did your mom have a small stroke?  Hope the rebuild job goes good for your son; what is the truck?

BOC- Be good, you'll get back to normal quicker

May God bless

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 49 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Daughter made it to Steel City on time.  It got too dark to watch #43 pass at Altoona and Horse Shoe (railroadcity.com). Still feelin' the effects of this lingering uri.  Hasn't knocked me down, but I sure am sluggish.  Wifey wants to drag me through the supermarket when she gets off at noon. Yesterdays 40 degrees and afternoon rain got rid of a lot of snow. I can see green grass again. Big train show tomorrow. Modular setup today. Also big. They give us a large chunk of real estate to work with.

Morning all. No plans for today. Had breakfast and now time to figure whats next lol. Need to go through a couple of train projects to make sure I have all the parts listed on my list for Jeff that I'm going to need.

Wish they would get the paper work straightened out on this house purchase suposely just waiting for a signature and of coarse the person who signs has other more important things to do than take 2 minutes to sign it.

Oh well when that gets done and another thing I got thats needs to be taken care of which will this month right after that as have to make sure I have all the $$ for closing as thats the most important thing then I will have almost no stress left. Smile

Looks like I'm starting this year out correctly anyway.

Not much else going on. Talk to you all later

Good evening all,

Lots of interesting topics discussed here.   I have discovered all sorts of old videos on Youtube of recent and not so recent open wheel races with the "big cars" on dirt (Silver Crown in more recent parlance).  I really need to start going to those again.  I used to go to the Hoosier 100 every year until they moved it to the Friday before the 500.   Watching the drivers toss 750 HP machines sideways in a turn, now that is real racing.   Work went well today and it was rainy at noon so I enjoyed a 3 piece band playing songs at the Artsgarden connected to Circle Center Mall.  Have to like what Menard's is doing for the hobby.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Hello there,

TGIF!!!!!!

It's been one of those weeks. ......Got mom home from the hospital Wednesday evening. She still doesn't seem to be herself. Weak, dizzy and a bit more confused. Took her to doc again today. Possibly the antibiotic she is on. Also did some blood work to make sure all is well there.

Took advantage of getting home early and finished removing the outside decorations ahead of tomorrow's rain.  Cold returns next week . Inside will wait a while. Spent this evening napping with the PA Farm Show on tv and the tree lit.

Son has the body off of his truck. Also pulled the head and tranny. He's gonna do a valve job, rings, bearings and clutch before stripping the new body from the donor truck.

Dozing off here.

Prayers for those in need

BOC, glad you survived that dive.  Take care of yourself.

Went for 2nd session with physical therapy today.  Went OK.  Go back again on Monday afternoon which is just as well because SoCal Edison is shutting off the power on my street for the whole day to do maintenence.  They sent out notice for people to get prepared.  Next door neighbor lets me use  his generator for our frige.

Might go out for dinner tonight.  Been eating Chinese food for three days.  We had take out one night and left overs the next, then our social group went out to-- you guessed it, a Chinese restaurant the next day for our monthly dinner.  I need a change bad.  Like to find a steak house tonight.

later,

Ray

Evenin' boys.  How's that saying go...no good deed goes unpunished?  Took middle princess to Penn Station, and promplty got a bolt in the R/F tire on the highway.  Had it fixed at one of the chain tire stores by the time she reached Philly.  Now she's scootin' across PA on the #43.

Angel  for all those feelin' it.  Getting over a cold myself.

Good Morning

We are having another dull dull dull dull day here. Posta get to 44 later on...in the rain.

Getting some survival food for the weekend so I can hunker down and stay out of the bitter cold on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday....

Anyhow....make it a great day!!!

BTW- i have a couple of appointments set up for my heart. I've been doing a lot of menu digging for low salt, low sugar, low fat menus. The mall I go to has the entire second floor with medical offices...that is where I do my mall walks....skip right by Forsey's Chocolates, Tim Horton's, Manchu Wok-that type of thing.

Roy I do not recommend this to anybody but what I did I Do Not Recommend at all but I took my soldering gun and used the tip to heat the area around the axle and with a medium size flat head screw drive I lifted as I turned the wheel little by little untill it came off.

You have to under stand I figured I probably would have to replace the wheel anyway. ( but didn't have to ) I really should get a set or two of wheel/gear pullers.

Morning all!

Another beaut of a day but some "winter" arriving for the weekend. But next week back to the 50's.

BOC - yes be careful. Follow the docs orders!

RT - always refreshing when something like that 736 issue works out. Do you use any toy train tools or just normal tools? What did you use to press the driver off?

Have a great day all!

Good Morning from an overcast 30F Southern Ohio,

TGIF

It is spose to get up into the 50's today.  I'm off till next Thursday.  This is the only good part of these 12 hour shifts.  I'm going to meet with a friend at my home parish to take down the outdoor Nativity.  It is 3/4 life size so it is pretty big.  After that hopefully get back on finishing the injectors on the truck, especially before the temps start to drop below freezing again.

Spank-The viaducts look great.

BOC- Wow, be careful. At least you didn't break anything.

RT-Good work on the 736.

May God bless

Good evening all,

Great day for a walk.  Best one I have had in quite a while.  Sunday will be a good test to see how much I have improved.  If I can do 4 miles at 17 minutes per, that would be good.   Work went surprisingly well.   We had another meeting and I think (hope) most of the issues were resolved.   An internal family issue concerning a relative's wedding was also resolved.   As AJ would say, "All in all, it was a good day".   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana
