RT, condolences for Midnight.  We lost our cat of 20 yrs. Never got another one.

Doug in Sandy Eggo sort of, thanks for the tip.  I'd love to watch the layout on the website.

Hoping for a little more rain tomorrow.  All the recent storms seem to peter out by they time they get to us.

Ate out last night.  Fried chicken over cooked.  Cook obviously was not from the South.  Also had Navy bean soup for starters.  Not cooked enough.  Had bad reaction when I got home.  Will cross that place off the list.

Took wife to Neurologist yesterday.  Nothing new to report on that front except got a new prescription for meds.

Friend Larry is back from his cruise.   Called yesterday but I was out.  Will try to talk today.

Adoration chapel at 10:00AM this morning.  This was an obligation that my wife volunteered for before she got dementia but we still go.

later,

Ray

Added about 50' of track to the layout last night after everyone was in bed - one long line with a turnabout at the end.  Wife hasn't seen it yet; if you don't hear from me again you'll know what happened...

Mornin' Fellas

I'm enjoying the quiet before the storm. Trying to knock a few projects out for work before the kiddos return from daycare (they close at 3pm today due to the pending blizzard).

We got a dusting Wednesday night (was supposed to be < 1 inch, but we ended up with 2 here), not a big deal, but with the pending blizzard (expecting 24 - 36 inches of glorious, pristine, white, fluffy, snow) that means everything that falls will stick (no undermelt).

Oh well - I bought a new sled for the kiddos and I to try out... TheQ was not so impressed, she was even more upset when I told her I thought about buying a $179.00 wood tobaggen. LOL! (women have no sense of humor when it comes to some subjects)

RT - sorry about Midnight. We lost both our cats, one when we were in FL to adopt Christina and the other shortly after we came home with Matthew. Now every time Christina sees a cat we are inquired about when the next one will come live with us... not till we build the next home.

Fife - hope she enjoyed her trip. Pittsburgh is a nice place to visit, not so much a nice place to live (of course I am slightly biased).

Good morning from a cold damp and gray North Bluff. Still better than what the east coasters have headed their way. We will have the daughter and grandkids over tonight so the trains will be a running for sure.
Hunker down out there and be safe.

Good Morning.

Gonna be a mix of sun and cloud today. High of 28F forecast.

Get to do some basic food stuff buying and visit the gang at our local diner today, then home and work on the layout. Still with the scratchy throat...I do think it is the dry air in here...le sigh.

Make it a great day!!!

Fife,

Here she be:

I got this set new back in the mid 50's and it spent quite a few years wrapped in a towel while traveling around the country while I was in the Air Force. Had my BetterHalf not volunteered me to help with her company's Christmas party some years back it might still be in that box wrapped in a towel. I was enlisted to help a gentleman who brought in a portable train layout to entertain the kids. Unfortunately both engines he brought in died before lunch so I ran home and dug out the oldie . Cleaned the wheels and rollers, gave it a bit of lube and she ran the rest of the afternoon. The bug was rekindled.

You don't need to be there in person, just log on to our website when the museum is open and watch on the webcam. Which we will be upgrading very soon.

Good evening all,

RT, sorry about your loss of Midnight.  You do get accustomed to your presence.   I also saw your comments on Lionchief on the "other" forum and the responses.  I have no objection to the concept but I do not see why Lionel cannot make Lionchief+ available in sets and just sell them with the remotes without the CW.  A dealer I talked to suggested the Lionchief concept was all about reducing packaging size.

It was a good day at work for the most part.  Got everything accomplished I set out to do.   Had a nice walk as well.   Did very little when I got home.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good Evening

Had a quiet day at home with Audrey and our new fellow...ooohh who is now up here schmoozing along purring away. We have a very happy cat here.

We have a Orange tabby kitten ( about 8 months or so old) and today he could tell Daddy wasn't feeling very chipper so he picked up his orange plastic golf ball ( kinda looks like a wiffle ball but smaller) and brought it to the door and like threw it to me as to get me to play catch so I picked it up and tossed it for him and he brought it back about 3 more times I swear they know and know how to cheer you up that was some of the best medicine I could of gotten today after losing Midnight last night. It tickled me how he wanted to play.

Not much else going on here today finally got the missing paperwork signed so now we can go ahead and close on the house. Just waiting for a date now.

Talk to you all later.

Good evening All.

I won't mention our temps from today, don't want to cause anyone's depression. Smile, Wink & Grin

BOC, Got a chuckle out of a news story that I saw on-line from up your way. Seems an elderly gentleman a little short of energy only cleared off the snow on his windshield like a small porthole and left the rest of his car covered with it. Needless to say the local constable gave him a $110 ticket then proceeded to clean the gentleman's windshield.

Got club meeting tonite and "chef du jour duty" tomorrow. Menu is Chili Dogs & Mac-n-Pepper Jack Cheese. Heat things up a bit.

We have declared friday to be an 027 day. Not going to run my Queen of the roster from the early 50's, my first real set, but some of the freight cars that came with it will see duty.

Time to put my stuff together for tonight.

Later all.

Got a few things placed on my layout to see how they will look when done here. Need more "for sale" signs I'ma guessin'

Got a nice scratchy throat tonight..too dry in here methinks. So I am doing a slow cooked version of Mattie's Doomsday Chili to knock whatever this is down...this chili is done with cubed beef instead of ground...and low salt as everything is done from scratch. See? Even my meals get scratcbuilt.

Wierd,

It is "raining" a wall of "ice" - sort of a cross between hail and heavy wet snow. Sending it East so watch out!

45 here for a high so it is melting as fast as it came down.

RT - Sorry about Midnight. It is tough when they pass.

Morning all from 20F and cloudy Southern Ohio,

Kids had another 2 hour delay so now it is just me and the dogs.  I am glad we decided not to go to Washington DC for the Right to Life March this year.  Looks like you guys are going to be getting it.

I start night shift tonight so that should be interesting weather wise.

RT- Sorry to hear about Midnight.  We really get attached to our pets.

Internet wireless seems to be working OK, but it is just me here so it could well be when everyone is here we have too many buckets drawing from the well.

Got a few jobs to do.  Stay warm and safe and may God bless

Cloudy going to 27 today.

RT sorry about your loss. He will be missed.

There is a better weather map on FB. It showed each area by how much beer or wine you will need to make it through the storm. I would also need chips.

Good Evening

CCold and damp out there tonight. We did have a few hours of sun though, which was nice.

Got all the dang runnin' 'roun' doin'/buyin' stuff earlier spent some time at our favorite diner here and then went home. I still have something to do tomorrow but not nearly that much...whew!!!

I see that cornerstone has some nice looking N scale house kits that will fir the bill here. Think I'll order some....

Doug: there are some in those sites that look good. I have to throw some of my own in there as well. I use a fair bit of herbs and spices in mine...no salt/msg seasoning here.

Mike thats my biggest gripe with lionchief it's a whole new system that will not operate with tmcc or legacy but it is what is being shoved down the throat of the consumer by lionel you can not buy a conventional set from Lionel anymore. it's lionchief only or you have to go to the expensive pieces in the signature catalog

yes it can run on the same track at the same time as your TMCC or Legacy but you can not control it with either so now you basically to be fair have 2 complete system and the newest is like going backwards as you can ( if you buy the special remote they offer for like another $100 I believe I may be wrong there but it's close ) can run a big 4 engines where before with the original system I could run up to 99 engines 9 aux items now you can only run 4 engines am I the only one that see's something wrong here I think so as I here so many liking the lionchief/lionchief+ system.

To me yes it's a great item for a child under 12 or 13 or maybe for something around the christmas tree but thats about it.

Good evening all,

Up and down day.   Drive in to work was delayed by weather and a wreck (not involving my vehicle).  Both pains were there today.   Work busy but not overwhelming.  Tried to view Lionel catalogs.   Very difficult.  Did not FlyerChief engines and sets will work with both remote and traditional AC, yet LionChief does not......hmmmm.   Best of all, got to play soccer with high school kids.  Guess who got the first goal of the evening?   Old age and treachery......  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Looking into a new router

Later God bless

"Never attribute to malice what can be adequately explained through stupidity"

Cute, but,

I think a bit more malice than stupidity. In this case I delivered the product and discussed what could be done and what would be done. The man has been chroming things for 35 years. He just either did not follow up with his help or he lied straight to me. I had agreed that the rust on the pipes under the engine would not be a problem but he assured me he could work the head pipes. I see no evidence of any attempt to smooth the rust on the head pipes anywhere.  One could of run some emery cloth on them and produced a much better job. In hind site I could of and now would of prep them myself. I guess if it could not be reached with a power tool it was not going to happen.Life goes on.

Looks like the east coasters are in for a slamming the next few days.
Be safe out there.  Surprise

Roy, You never outgrow the need for an In-N-Out Burger. Devil  I just go maybe once every other month or so and opt for just a burger, no doubledouble or cheese, on a lettuce wrap instead of the bun. That brings the salt down to where it is almost healthy.

BOC, Here are some links, some sound ok & others yuck.

Morning all!

38 here at 9 am. Cloudy. Maybe 50 today. High 40's/low 50's until Sat - Low 60's.

Phish - good luck with the network repairs.

DougnottaG - I guess that diet does not include In & Out Burgers?

RT - hope it works out on the passenger cars.

edit - Location - found where to enter it. Go to manage your profile/edit profile, and then scroll down on the right hand side of the screen under the magazine ads and you will see a place to enter location.

Have a great one all!

Good Morning

Got them ol' dull dull clouds again here. supposed to get to 18F out here though so we are going up.

Today turns out to be running through a list of gottta do's and gotta buys again. Sigh. Better be at them...

Doug: I actually did find some that sound kind of tasty. I'll post some of them up later.

Oh, we here in London only got a slight view of those stars...but the clouds returned to cover them up.

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 18 in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Looks like the snohizo canons have been set from stun, to kill.  Technically, I don't have to "work" in it anymore, but I have a young nurse that needs to get to Hopkins, a clerk that has to stock paperclips, and a banker who has to do be there for the little ol' bitty that just has to pick the worst weather day to balance her account...  So, who am I kidding...?

Grandson got to watch his Auntie's train go by Cresson, Horseshoe Curve, and Altoona, then immediately asked to go down to the big layout and run the Amtrak Genesis engine.  Princess said the Pennsylvanian was a pretty ride, just a bit long.

Hey, submmbob, with all these planets lined up in my morning sky, am I s'posed to find a live chicken for some ritual...?

I wish everyone would put where they live under their name as it helps understand your post better often.

Every Christmas we have a candelight service at church and today after Vintage, senors group we go through all the candles, save ones that can be used again and also the little plastic drip cups that don’t have too much wax in them.

I've not been able to figure out how to get a "from" to appear in the left margin of my posts.  Do you know where you set your location in your profile?

Also, for those old church candles that cannot be reused: they make great accelerants for bonfires.  Throw a few of those on top of your logs and let them drip onto the kindling as things heat up and you should be off-n-running!
