was good seeing the gang, though we were short a few regulars. for HudsonJohn's Mom for Banks' Mom.Missed my walking partner today, although I doubt I would have made it. After breakfast we headed over to show, almost get side swiped because I didn't see this kid in a supedup civic barrelling down a side road... but I made it to the show. Walked the orange hall - didn't see anything that caught my eye. Walked the brown hall - didn't see anything that caught my eye. Walked the black hall and again didn't see anything. All I was looking for was a Sir Topaham Hat gateman for the kids' Thomas garden, or a couple cars for the kids. It wasn't till I was exiting the red hall that I found a guy selling Mickey Mouse Express boxcars, picked up the Cinderella car for Christina and the Donald Duck car for Matthew. As I was walking back to the Durango I started to get some really bad stiffness in my knees and hips, this typically happens after Fife's and my second walk around the show, and I was getting nausous... not a good combo... so in the car and off to home by 11:30. Missed the photoshoot (sorry guys). When the kiddos got home they received their boxcars and they were quite impressed. Of course now I am supposed to find a Cinderella engine to go with the Cinderella boxcar... no idea how I am getting out of this one!!!!!!

Mornin' boys. Mornin' Ole Timer! Mostly cloudy and 39 (sheesh) in the Mid-Atlantic region. Benji is still in the garage. Headed down to boatyard with Fifepup after while.
lionroar88 - Wow, you were feelin' bad, weren't you. I think the Disneyland General (which already has Cinderella castle logos on it) would be an excellent candidate. Then you can start collecting the retired Dept 56 Disney structures.
Funny how little ones change your focus...

Kev: Good looking house!!
Morning,
Happy Birthday Rich, you old MOPAR dog.
Thanks, BOC it is the wifey's dream house in the woods.
Brent, I second Fife suggestion on that D L General.
Going to look at some houses for sale for a friend of Sandra's and then we will get lunch and go to Krogers.
45 degrees now with steady rain all day.
Almost forgot, on the train front:
I scored a running 40s Marx CP steamer on the bay yesterday for $19.99 + $5,49 shipping I am going to use for parts to repair my Uncle’s one with the bad armature and bearings I could not buy the parts for what I got this for. I think I will use the discarded shell someplace on the layout.
Where is Bob?? Must be hiding on the mountain.

Good morning all, hope the Yorkies are having fun. Looking forward to group picture if any.
Today is my wife's birthday. Will have dinner out and a cake tonight. Still have to get family organized.
Got my TTOS Southwestern Bulletin yesterday and saw where one of our members passed away in December. Alan Ribis was a member for over 25 years and was on the BOD for a while. He also volunteered to help with the auction at meets all the time. I did not know him well but he bought some trains from me once. R.I.P.
A few places in the neighborhood are starting to put in drought resistant plants and tearing out the lawns. One of them looks nice but probably expensive to have professionally done. The city has cut back watering parks to twice a week. Grass is already dying. Pretty soon they will be watering dead grass. My backyard is all rock around my pool so don't have to water that. If the time comes when I can't supply water to the pool, I guess I will just have to drain it and fill it in but not in a hurry to do that.
Got some kind of moisture from the sky last night but I wouldn't call it rain. Just enough to mess up the car. However showers are forcast for tonight. Yea, I've heard that before too.

Well, another York is in the record books. It was great seeing the gang and now I know why Brent didn't make the photo shoot. Brent sorry you fell ill. Also prayers for Hudson John and Banks mothers. I do not have a photo posting site to use. Sent the photo to Don and thought he might be able to post. John (JEFelectric) and I wore out all the halls. Crowd was a bit smaller but from everyone we spoke to sales seemed good for most. Met a gentleman that was attending his 84th York (42 years straight - wow)! We are signed up for fall York!
I bought some things at York for some top secret train business stuff I am working on but not much for myself.
John and I got a call from Don B while at York Fri and he was in great spirits after doc visit. He can start walking without boot and Kay is doing great!
Time to sign off. Early flight home tomorrow.
Regards, Roy
Home safe from York. Had a good time meet with some old friends again. If I start the name thing I will miss someone for sure. All of you know we spoke.

Good evening all,
Quiet day at work on Friday. 30 inch mower was giving me fits Friday night. Took it to shop Saturday. Watched Grimm Friday. Not sure how season will end, but I think it will not be well for one or more characters. Reffed one game Saturday and watched 3 matches on TV. Went to local historical society dinner tonight as well. I hope everyone has a good day. AJ's team created a vacuum again in Indycar qualifying. Could be a long season.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Hello all
Back up on the mountain and it is snowing.
Glad a good time was had by those who went to York.
Kev - nice work on the CP Marx. Will have to take a look at the difference between the motors on my #891 and #666 sometime.
I would rather buy more old Marx stuff before I will get a modern Lionel:)
The 4dr Corvair got another adjustment. I think this one has got it the best. Runs the best it will until we deal w/ the #2 valve issue sometime.
The Corvan got the engine wiring sorted out and replaced, the alternator wired up, and another ignition switch put in. The van now starts from the key switch w/ no alligator clips or jumper cables necessary:) It has been sitting for a while w/ some really old gas in the tank so that the engine would only run by dumping gas down the carbs. Main jets are clogged up. So the next time I am off we will clean out the main jets and hopefully move the van under it's own power over to Bill's new lift. That way we can take the gas tank out and clean it. The fuel line from the tank needs to be replaced as well. Also heard from the upholsterer that the seat is done so we are getting there.
Not much more work on the big trolley other than continue to wire the low voltage to the pantograph. Waiting on another adapter (new 'pan' is metric) so I can hook up the conduit I added.
My friend Ron gave me an interesting 0-gauge trolley that he got off the bay. Seller said it needed 'minor work'. It runs but the wooden body will be a jigsaw puzzle. It runs on DC 2-rail w/ overhead pickup. Nifty.
Ron and I may also go back to Apache Junction where he picked up that N-gauge layout next week. He noticed a '61 4dr Corvair Monza in the yard where I was getting the seat clips for the van. He's thinking about picking this up for his next car project. Fun!
A friend at work brought a jeweler's frame saw so I can make the mods to the postal service trolley.
Too much fun, but keeping busy is good for me.

Mornin' boys. Sunny & 43 in the Mid-Atlantic region. Laundry day, and I will fire up the Honda mower for the first time this season. Cookout later for Wifey's Daddy.
Had a little civil "unrest" downtown yesterday. You might have heard. Crab-town has always had that rep. The answer could be in just one word ---> behave.
anjdevil --->
Sunny, a cold 36 degrees heading to 58 later and mid 80s by the end of the week if they have it right.
Bob, sounds like you got plenty going on. Enjoy. I have a replacement motor on the way for my Uncle's Marx 391. I think it will work out fine.
I am thinking about a new car project to get me back into the shed and out of the basement.
Glad all of the Yorkers could help out the depressed economic situation in that area and made it home in good condition.
Morning all ( while it is still morning and I don't forget to pop in and say it lol ) 74 presently going to 80 for a high today already geeze it's not even summer yet. Oh well better than the cold weather.
Thing are looking good so far. May see if wife wants to goto the zoo tomorrow. We have like 3 more passes for the year so that will be cool and a nice break. Well I have free pass for the year with 3 more guess passes for her lol By time I bought her entry and mine twice for the year I had a year pass with 4 guess passes so it was a no brainier. Nothing planned for today may goto the store to get her some things she wants. Hope all have a good Sunday Talk to you all later
Sun and 50
Man the grass sure grew while I was gone. The first cut will be soon that's for sure.
Sometimes the easiest way to fix a Marx is with a swap out motor that works. Thats what repairman did with them way back when. The motor assembly was cheap so if you had one fixed you probably walked out with a whole new motor assembly. York was ok, deals were made, deals fell through, but it was still a great time with the guys and we are home safe.

James, It is looking like your right. By the time I got the armature, bearings, and gears it needed then figured out how to pull and replace the wheels to do the work and the cost of the parts, A motor swap looks like the way to go. The main thing in this swap will the swapping of the drive rods because they are of a different style and I want to use the originals for uncle John’s 391. I did get the ones off of the old motor yesterday so I think I got it figured out.I should get the motor by Tuesday and will let everyone know how it works out.
Chilly. I think the rain is gone but still light clouds. Home from babysitting which is good. I thought my dogs and cat were spoiled. These are worse.
Fifey, some people love to just make noise.
Glad all the Yorkies are home safe.Have a great week ahead.
Pleasant Sunday afternoon all!
Back in da Big "D" - smooth flight on Southwest this morning. Ended up in the last row and seat was reasonably comfortable with leg/knee room. Their new stretch 727's are pretty quiet to boot. Much better than American where they have stuffed all the seats together so your knees are in the seat in front of you. Have had pleasant experiences recently on Southwest and Virgin America.
Also happy to be in warmer climes. York was very cold this spring with gale force winds.
Sarah! Sarah! Sarah! Joseph Newgarden led a 1-2 American sweep of the Indy car race in Alabama today in giving Sarah Fisher's team its second win as he beat a hard charging Graham Rahal to the finish line. AJ's team had a rough day. Wife and daughters went to a bridal shower today. I did a 3.6 mile walk in 59 minutes and 22 seconds as a final check for the mini. Watched Chelsea and Arsenal battle to a 0-0 draw today on Telemundo. One of "my" soccer kids won prom princess and another one was prom king. All in all it was an ok weekend. I hope everyone has a good day.
Since I was not able to go to York..........
I hope I can get to York this fall.....................

I had a 5' by 16' layout set up yesterday and today at a local train show. It was part of a western themed festival that was started this year. Was a small show with maybe 10 vendors and 6 operating layouts. Was well attended yesterday, and not very busy, but steady today.
Like usual, my Moe & Joe lumber car and operating log car were a hit with the kids. I encourage them to push the button to operate those cars - some of those kids were older than I am!
I got a lot of "that engine looks just like mine", and "the one I had used 3 rail track too. It is in a box in the attic. Wonder if it still runs" type of comments.
Since this was a western theme, I took my 3656 cattle car and corral. Everybody got a kick out of watching it. Being somewhat rual here, there were lots of farmers at the show. I was somewhat worried about the not too dependable motion of the cattle, but the general coment from the spectators was "just like the real ones - always one that needs a nudge to go where you want."
Big spender, too - $55.25 for a big box of bottle brush pine trees (200 maybe), a 3656 steer, an Airix boxcar, and a Brio set for my wife.
All for now.
quick check in.....had to go pee now, since I turned in to an old guy on Saturday. ...lol!Had a small party on Saturday and it was great. Mostly family and a few close friends. Been spending time with my Princess she leaves later today. I have a half day and she asked to use the car, so I'll be on the Road Star. Went to NYC Friday and we went to the Met, a place called Obsura which is on TV, it's an oddities and antique shop. Saw a play called On the 20th century. ....a musical comidy...yeah on a train from Chicago to NYC. ..lol.Thanks for all the birthday wishes!!!! Enjoyed the weekend and now my daughter leaves and I have to get back to work :(.Maybe I'll get to the train store after her flight leaves...lol!

We got about 4 - 6" of snow from that last storm. A decent one for late April here in southern AZ.
Among other things I tinkered last night, was touching up the director's second AF K325. This loco had quite a few scratches and nicks in the paint. The Barker AF book suggested using a paint pen which I picked up recently. After letting it dry and then doing the furniture polish and buffing trick it blended in rather well. This loco also got a replacement lightbulb this time in the boiler shop.
We are getting 10%'ed on here...and looking at varying levels of dullness for our viewing pleasure as well.
Nothing much here to report except more doctor appointments and bone scans this week...le sigh.
Have a good day!!
