Good Morning

Hope all the Yorkies find everything they are looking for!  Envious of all of you!

Still working in back yard painted a water fall and fountain, they really look great!  Kay's Aunt and Uncle from Milwaukee are due in tomorrow for a week visit, today will get the train room ready.  Clean track, replace batteries, and minor repairs.  Have a Dr appt on Thursday, hopefully he we start me on therapy.  Ive really been doing great, walking with and without the cane.  Definetly easier with various shoes the right leg is noticeably shorter.  Need to get that resolved, with some type of device.  Dont need back issues.

Kev, that steamer really looks great.

Take care all and enjoy!

Morning all

Sounds great Don a lot of times depending how much shorter they will build up the one shoe either inside or the sole sometimes both. ( When I worked at the V.A. they where right behind where I worked and talked to them off and on and they would explain what they where doing at the time. Sounds like your heading down the correct alley this time Yes

Not much planned for today need to do some running around get some gas for the mower and see if I can get it going it I couldn't at the end of last year but then again I haven't drained the gas in it in the last 2 years just add to it so that could be the problem there yeah I know. any way have starting fluid to help will drain the little bit in it and put fresh and see if any old still there can get it pumped thru. will see.

Anyway thats my day for today hope all have a good day talk to you all later

Don, keep up the good recovery.  I agree about York.  Wish I could be there too.

Exchanged some of my old pool water for new yesterday after calling the water department.  Got letter in the mail from the city to start watering only twice per week and not for 48 hours after rainfall but don't think we will see any of that.

Going to caregiver meeting today.  Son will take over duties here.

later,

Ray

Evening all!

Had a very busy weekend and then taking care of stuff this week to be ready for travel to York. Thus no time to post.

Banks - we are on a 6:35 am flight tomorrow to Baltimore - ugh. Return from BWI on Sunday morning.

Looking forward to seeing the gang!

Have a great day tomorrow all!

Edit - BTW we have gotten some good rain the past week. Water district talking about lifting/easing some restrictions starting in May. I may be allowed to change out my pool water.

Regards, Roy

Good evening all,

Busy day at work.  Some people gripe when they have no help and then gripe when they get it.  Go figure.  The Flash was good tonight, and Izombie was even better.  Weather was sunny here today.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Evening All,  Wow 2 posts from me within one day!

Finished most of the backyard today, thought would show a couple of pics.....

Taken from outside my train room, the gray glob in the far corner is the waterfall.

And the Mill Stone, if you notice there is a G scale engine house in the lower left corner.  I have a "dogbone" that runs down to the fountain and goes around the mill stone.

Kays relatives are due in tomorrow pm.  I am getting X-Rays done in the am, then spend the rest of the tidying up the trainroom.  Found out tonight that 21 people are invited over for an open house on Saturday.  So for the most part just finished up in time.

(Sure like this new found freedom!)

Here I've been trying to get everything done before "the rain" and doesn't even sound like we will see any.Sad

Hi, Bet all the Yorkies are in motion.

Windy, 36 out there now and dropping below freezing tonight. Ick!

Nice work Don. Too bad about the rain. It is dry here but nothing like where your at. Just has the farmers on edge at this point.

I can't  believe that when I got that swell running Marx steamer to my uncles it took off slow and died within 4 feet. Bang Head Bang Head Bang Head I have put in a distress e-mail to Submmbob about it.
So my uncle also gave me his 2011 Nutcracker 4-4-0 to work on. WOW is that design trash. There is a whole other thread on that.  Super Angry  At any rate I got plenty to do.

Happy anniversary Doug to you and your better half!!!!   Gift  Yes

Have a good day!

BTW Don, Here is a snapshot of our back yard and the freshly stained deck. The rest past the deck is low maintenance. Goes back about 700 more feet from here. The green is coming!  Smile

Morning all.  Sunny and cool but nice.  Had two busy Mayor days.  Been real hectic and late getting home.  Hope to do "home chores" today.  Had lots of rain again.  Grass to mow again.  Trying to get garden planted.  Tomato plants in greenhouse 2+ feet tall.  Need transplanting.

Shake and Bake is doing so good he does not answer or return calls andmore [check your missed calls on cell, he doesn't know voice mail].

Have a good one.

Aloha. Colder and greyer this morning in downtown Chicago. It even snowed enough to gather on the cars in the depot lot. That sure looks welcoming, Don! Safe travels to all Yorksters. Looking forward to seeing the CTT photo.

Today is our 26th anniversary. Guess I should stop by the gas station on the way home to pick up a few gifts - a plastic flower, car air freshener, etc. Big Smile

Best Wishes Doug on the 26 year anniversary!  Since it is a special day for you and the bride perhaps while you are at the gas station you could pick up a couple of fresh roller dogs, big bag of Dorrito's and a quart of Colt 45, gourmet dining at it's best.  Even though a wedding is on the horizon please remember your bride with that special meal tonight Dinner

Doug congrats on 26 years

Cut front lawn today took lawnmower over to neighbor's house as we help each other work on things and it made a fat liar out of me added some gas and it started right up why it wouldn't run in the fall who knows and yes there was gas in it in the fall I just added some for a extra kick as it's been sitting anyway so now don't need a new mower Big Smile

May do the back in a few came in to cool down some. H2O time Smile

Need to take some pics of more items to put on the bay that are just dust collectors and lionel made millions of lol.

Ebay about did me in glad I went and checked my auctions my last auction some how had free shipping and I normally don't do that except on higher price items where I have figured shipping in to it.

Good afternoon all,

I was supposed to get a blood test at 9:00AM this morning for a life insurance/long term health care policy etc.  At 8:30 the phone rings and the lady tells me that she won't be coming because the underwriter cancelled the whole thing.  I never thought I would qualify in the first place because of my medical history.  My financial advisor who started all this just wasted my time.  At least I am due a refund for first premium.

Went to care giver meeting yesterday and counted my blessings after I heard some of the stories from other people.

Son coming home later account going to the L.A.Clipper game after work.  Dinner for just us two will be sirloin steak and whatever else I can dream up.

Don, the patio looks great!  You do nice work and can come over here anytime you like and do mine.

later,

Ray

Mornin' boys.  Partly sunny & 39 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Will feel more like Fall YORK today, for those going.  Heard freeze warning tonight, so will have to put "Benji" the palm tree in the garage.

Banks - Angel for Mom.  Hope it all works out for you.

cnw1995 - Happy Anniversary.

Sigh Looks like my once favorite toy train manufacturerer is leaving me behind with their prices.  New MTH catalog on line...  Funny how retirement readjusts your priorities.

Aloha. The sun is shining - that makes the cold a bit more bear-able. Fife, surely your retirement priorities call for the purchase of many MTH items at MSRP. Smile.

My bride loved the pine-scent air freshener and plastic rose for our anniversary. And the reheated burritos for a special dinner. Great suggestions, Jon! I am looking forward to York reports and hearing more about why Buckeye will be a mile up in the air today. Prayers for your mom's swift recovery, Banks!

Like Doug, sunny but cold on The North Bluff,

Fife, your getting it. I know about the fixed income lockdown. Still better than working. Wink

Banks, Prayers for your mom.

My uncle's 4-4-0 Nutcracker seems to be fixed. Working on a plan for the Marx 391.

Have fun.

KRM - I read how you worked the problem with the Christmas General.  Sometimes it's just a matter of fine tuning.  30 years ago, guys in my HO club would spend hours tweekin' imported brass steam engines to get them to pull more than just themselves.  There's a fellow on ebay selling metal pilot castings for the Lionel General, which is a pretty clever way of adding weight.

Thanks Fife, The Nutcracker is running the layout as I type. Yes

I enjoy the challenge of fixing things that I don’t know that much about. On the modern Generals,,,,,,they are a Pain to work on. I almost told my uncle I would not take it. But now glad I did. As for the modern Generals pulling power I am good with what they pull. Attached is a picture of the load I pull with mine on the layout. As you can see There are 7 cars if you count the tender and the horse cars are by no means light. They do a fine job with this load and I would fear any more may be too much for that can motor.
I would like to see what that guy is selling, you got the link or how he has them listed so I can look?

 Good morning,
Slow around here with everyone out of town. Indifferent
Yesterday when Sandra left for work it was 24 degrees, this morning 32. Sunny now and will hit 60, fine with me. Rain tomorrow.
Got up at 5:30 and turned on the coffee and the next thing I knew it was 8:30. Glad I am not late for work!
Yesterday I went up on the roof and stained the repairs to the chimney wood then finished the caulk just before Sandra got home. I needed to get it done! Glad the house repairs are over for now. Seems to never end. Bang Head
Today's plan is use up the rest of the caulk on some cracks in the wood on the end-tails on the house.

I hope the Yorkies are finding ways to spend those wads of cash in their pockets and that Buckeye is having fun at the mile high city and Don is enjoying his visit with Kays relatives.

Prayers for Banks and John’s moms.  Angel

Here are some shots of the house work.
Here is the chimney before. Bottom of the north up-right had rot by the roof as well as the three horizontal boards above the roof. Was way worse than it looks under the surface.

Here is the chimney with the new corner up-rights we hand made out of cedar fence posts.  Also replaced the bad horizontal boards.

Here is the front of the house with all of the re-stained porch railing.
