Forgive me if this has been posted elsewhere I had not seen it posted yet.

Aloha. Sunny and cold in Chicago. Sounds like a good time was had by all at York. I had a quiet weekend - yesterday was pleasant so I cut up and piled brush for the city to pick up next week. That was the highlight of the day. Smile

Good morning, one of those nights!

Had a good time yesterday with grand-kids two boys under two Jordan, RJ and the four year old girl Lexi. Lots of train running in the basement.

Late start, just got up for the SECOND time.

Woke up at 2:00AM to take a (well you old guys know) and heard the water alarm going off in the basement and thought ON NO not again Jordan!!! So I go down in the basement and water all over the place. So I check the plug to see if the kido unplugged it again like he did once before but nope. Pump motor burnt up this time.

So manually move the shaft to shut off the softener cycle to stop the water flow, get the shop vac from the shed, tools, suck up the water, pull the pit apart, take the bad pump out, put the old one that I replaced the switch on from when it broke down in 2011 down in the hole, fit it up, leave the lid off the hole, plug it in, check it working, turn the softener back on, go upstairs wash up and go back to bed.   Bang Head Bang Head Bang Head

Things to do today,

 Enjoy!

Morning all,

MichRR714, thanks for the York Photo.  Hope you all had a good time.

Wife and I went to see an old neighbor of ours from privious house that only has a few more days to live.  He has bacteria in his blood stream and no hope.  He is not conscious now and is under Hospice care.  Had a nice visit with his family.  They have 5 grown children and 10 grandkids.  Sad occasion but I'm glad we went.

Have been eating a lot of strawberries lately since they are plentiful now but they are giving my G.I. system some trouble.  Need to take it easy on them.

We might take a drive to the ocean tomorrow.  Looks like it will be a nice day down there.  My son will go with us and drive back since I don't want to drive after dark.  Looking forward to feasting my eyes on the water and having a seafood lunch somewhere.

Glad to hear that Don can walk without the cast now.

later,

Ray

Charlie you should have done a copy and paste of me for the pic. Sorry I missed it. It would have been great to meet everyone. It was nice talking with you and SJ though.

Fife, Stay safe my friend.

Just veging out today after three days at the museum. Lots of fun but very tiring.

Glad to see all the Yorkies made it home safe.

fife...Been thinking about you today.  My grandmother used to live on North Ave east of the current problems.  In the 60's she could look out her window and see the North Avenue Market on fire.  Be careful.  Baltimore is one nasty place when it starts to errupt.

MichRR714

L-R: JEFelectric (John), LAZ, MichRR714 (Charlie), Bob Keller (CTT), SJ (Sir James!), Bob Mitchell, and yours truely....

Raining again here. They are letting water over the dam for the first time in 3 years at the lake that is our main supply lake (the lake they pump from, of the 5 lakes in our water district). We have had soaking rains this year for the first time in many years (10+?) so it is finally helping the depleted water table. Some flooding south of here and a couple of wind/tornado events last night.

Have a great evening all!

Regards, Roy

Fire a Mayor and Police Commissioner.  They admitted they knew this yesterday and did not "ramp up" for this.  Sad.  Officers hurt due to being over whelmed.

Hello there,

Sounds like a good time was had by all at YORK. Wish I coulda been there.

Mom is home from the hospital, No worse for wear. Biggest fear was that she would have another much worse stroke. Thanks for your prayers

John how is your Mom doing?

Fife......Stay safe .......... They shoulda kept them under control. The protesters show their intelligence by destroying their own city. Or were they out of towners like last year in Ferguson

Best move on

Aloha. Sunny and cold in Chicago. That's a great York photo - thanks for posting. Buckeye, could you ride those trains in Colorado or were they just static - that's the first real live bobber caboose I've seen. Off to take to L up to our other campus!

Sun and 51 degrees

York is always fun, a few friendly faces missing this time, hope all works out so you can make the next one. I didn't buy much, walked away from a couple things I liked but down deep I knew I didn't need to have them.

Doug, we rode on the Goose.  The others were static that day but I did see photos of steamers running.  Colorado has this plus many other train adventures.

Good evening all,

Busy day at work.  Watched the Flash and Izombie.   Flash is wearing thin with time travel malarkey.  Izombie will probably be cancelled, but deserves a better fate.  Weather is nice here.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good morning from a sunny North Bluff.  40 degrees heading to 67. Grass to cut if the ground drys up later.
Well a replacement showed up yesterday from Lionel for my bad out of the box 6-38371 Rock Island set.
Get this:
Lionel sent back a PRE-USED replacement set not the one I sent them. The engine shows roller use and the horns were bent down and there is evidence of the body being opened up a lot. The screw heads are marred and there is rust on the  turn lock screws. None of that was that way on the ones I sent in. Then when I pulled the dummy out of the box the truck side were completely off one truck loose in the box and the box was unglued. I called and told them I needed a truck side that was missing and the screws. And this is not the set I sent them. So the person said she would send me the parts. I get an e-mail and the parts she was going to send were for a F3 not the ALCO, Stupid ???  Bang Head  So "I" had to call her back and tell them the part numbers I needed sent. I knew when they moved to a lower cost state things could only get worse.  This is not the set I sent them. The outside box  does not have the writing on it where I put the RA number. Even the tech comments said all he did was tighten up the side trucks and clean the pick up rollers. (he no doubt did not look at the dummy unit) Those were not the problems I sent in with mine. Mine could not have dirty rollers, it never made it around the track three times.

I can't believe the whole experience with this. Think I am done with Lionel. Zip it!

Have a good day.

UHGGGG!!!!!  Got home at 1 AM.  MIL in hospital.  Wifey spent from noon until 12:30 getting her tested and admitted.  Not takeing meds right and not eating.  May have had a "little stroke".  Nothing a few days in the hospital will not fix.

Garden ready to plant.  Beds made.  Waiting for the weekend after rains are gone.

I don’t know SJ, This whole thing has my mind bent. They pretended that I was wrong I think ( just said nothing about it when I told her) but without doubt, this is not the set I sent to them. At least this one works, That is better than the other new one I sent to them. I think they do this a lot and get away with it. Helps their turn around time. I am just tired of spending money sending things back and forth. (I told her that but no offer to cover the shipping) They should of fixed mine or sent me a NEW one that they had tested. So I went to the hardware store and got some better screws for the truck sides and fixed it myself. I hope they send the right part. I have never got another e-mail saying what they were going to send me like the girl said she would yesterday. I can’t tell you how mad I would be if this was some high end product I paid thousands for.

Anyway guess I will move on.  SoapBox

Kevin another reason I like buying off of the bay as if they don't tell you what is wrong ( and they know this now well most do ) if you go through ebay with the complaint they have to refund the shipping both ways to you plus the cost of the item no matter what they say in there listing. as long as it's not as described not a changed your mind. And also if something is wrong and they tell you you can decide if your willing to mess with it and fix it and how much of a discount this person is willing to give you on it.

I have decided unless its something I just have to have and its a super sale new is not for me anymore I understand it was for grandson

Morning all. Not a lot going on today need to go make some breakfast.

RT it is what it is, the hobby shop I got it from just sent me to Lionel.

Here is another one for you.

Why is the post office loosing money.
Here is what happens when I buy a item on e-bay that is from a town called Plainfield that is 41 miles from my house. Dropped off at Plainfield’s post office.

Ships to: ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL 60007    35 miles North

From there it ships to:   HAZELWOOD, MO 63042  300 miles south. 335 miles total

From there it ships to:  CHAMPAIGN IL. 184 miles north.  519 miles total

From there it ship to: MARSEILLES IL.  137 miles north.   To my house   656 miles total to go 41 miles and 4 days later.

Good morning all,

The old neighbor we went to see last Sunday passed away a few hours after we saw him.  Glad we went when we did.  Memorial service will be this coming Saturday.

Finally made it to the ocean yesterday.  We drove down to Dana Point about 60 miles from here and had a beautiful day.  Had fish and chips and took in all the sights and sounds.  Son drove back which was good for me.

Wife has developed some swelling in the ankles.  Have call in for Dr. Appt. now.

Did my bi-weekly watering this morning.  Paper has story about how low Lake Mead is getting behind boulder dam.  Hasn't been that low since they filled it up back in the thirties.

Frank, prayers for your MIL.  Hope she gets well soon.

Kevin I know I would get a ups/smartpost from fl it would goto Atlanta okay cool then from there it would got charlet, N.C. Sad no idea why as it added over 300 miles to the trip as at atlanta it switch from ups to usps and add like 3 days to it as it would sit over a day being transfered from ups to usps and then once it got to charlet well then they had to figure out why it went north to go east so they set it aside to get it to go south again thats why if a seller says smart post or something like that I tell them I will pass as it really isn't cheaper for you for 1 ( they want you to think it is) and 2 it about doubles the trip to get somewhere.

Heck I mailed a letter from here on the 18th to my bank in VA it still hasn't gotten there I also mailed a check to my morgage company in TX. on march 27th it finally cleared my bank on april 22 of coarse I had to do a stop payment on it and pay them electronically and I have seen lately where they say firast class mail has been slowed down by the P.O.

Spent some time in the yard tonight.  Prepared a bed and planted some peppers.  Also ran the weed whacker around.

Making plans to go to Michigan next week and bring my wide home.  She has been there about a month, helping her mom.  She has the minivan with her, but her back will not let her make the 12 hour drive back.  I'm looking for the best way to get to Michigan and not strand an extra car somewhere.

Amtrack fare from here to there is only $80.  But I'll need to switch trains in Chicago.  I arrive about 9pm in Chicago, the train to my destination leaves 4pm the next day.

What can youse Chicago guys tell me about hotels around Union Station?

About all for now.
