Back seems to be doing much better. Hopefully all back to normal this week.
RT, Is it a freezer problem or packaging issue ? I bought one of those vacuum sealing gizmo's and it works great, no more freezer burn. Visit Costco and pick up some reaaly nice ribeye's, etc then break'em into packs of two and into the freezer.
Page numbering is crazy, clicked on the "0" and had to shut-off the computer to get out of the glitch. Even the Control/Alt/Delete function could'nt get rid of it.
Good Guys show at Del Mar this weekend, think I'll skip it though. Don't like the crowds much anymore.
Fife, A Mid-winter Meet in Sandy Eggo ? Sounds good ! Especially if it coincides with the Cal-Stewart meet and/or the annual boat show.

Wiped out this week - extremley tired. Was planning on sleeping in Saturday morning. Didn't work out, as I got a call from my brother in law at 7:15am asking how to get a hold of my wife (who is in Michigan). Seems that my mother in law was having a re-lapse of a skin infection on her legs and needed to go to the hospital. My wife is still learning how to use her new cell phone and had not mastered answering calls yet, so I gave him the land line number. Needless to say, there was no sleeping in after that call.
Anyhow, my wife and her mother spent yesterday immersed in the health care system. Her mom is now admitted and receiving extra heavy duty industrial strength antibiotics.
I got the new batteries wired up for the lawn mower well enough that I'll be able to mow. Still need to clean the packaging of the additional height up on them. Finished that off about dinner time. Opted to cook dinner rather than mow the lawn. Probably not a good choice, as I woke up to thunder showers this morning.
While I was running errands yesterday, I stopped by the local hobby shop. Sad news there. The owner's lease is up in July, and he is not going to re-new it. His sales tanked in 2008 and have never really recovered. Does not help that the RC car club and RC airplane club are not as active as they once were, either.
About all for now.
Dougdagrump I believe it's the freezer as never had this problem with my chest freezer which I still have and just moved everything over to. It has dried out my ground beef to where all I can use it for is making sloppy joes or spaggetti sauce or chilli won't hold together for hamburgers or meatloaf cooks up fine but thats about it. need to use the roast I have in there also as they look freezer burn also but they do cook up good.

Sorry to have been away the past 3 days, but perhaps I can explain. We moved younger daughter out of the house on Saturday. Took all day as the professional "moving crew" that we hired showed up and refused to do it. That bunch will hear from me Monday. Fortunately some others stepped up and helped out. She told her husband today and it could have gone worse. I am emotionally and physically drained. I will catch up on the other posts later. On top of everything else, wife's minivan will only start if it is jumped. She is taking it to sister's mechanic tomorrow and I hope she does not get ripped off too much (out of town). I hope everyone has a good day.

Dennis I don't use mine that often but before I put it up make sure it has a full charge because it's not unusual to come back to it say about a month or so later and it be completely or just about completely run down. I've never heard not to give a fully charge but then I don't have a chromebook and ( my powertools say to run batteries down as far as you can before recharging.) so don't really know what to tell you
Dennis I usually let mine run down to about 25% but I have forgot and it ran down and shut off the laptop.
I haven't noticed any difference either way. It was idle about 3 weeks and the battery was fine when I returned.

Aloha. It's a grey and rainy morning but supposed to get better later - we'll see. This weekend was very busy with a wedding shower for my daughter so I was setting up at the hostess' house, and tearing down, and picking up food and ice, and packing gifts. You get the idea. Glad last week's tornado didn't come closer than 20 miles - enough to set the sirens off and to glimpse the top of the storm. Buckeye, my condolences on your loss...Today is the bride's birthday; tomorrow the middle boy turns 21 and next week is our anniversary so it is busy and expensive. '39 World's Fair:

Good morning from a windy and wet North Bluff.
Well Only the two north sections of porch railings are left and 1/4 of the deck floor. All of the deck pickets are done. I did not do anything with the steps till I make a replacement plan for them. The cedar rotted out? I thought cedar did not rot??? Ran out of deck stain but just as well as I was tired and it looked like rain was coming. Go figure the weatherguesser were wrong. It was not forecast-ed to rain till late last night. So today I got another gallon for the deck. Man!!! $42.74 a gallon. Maybe latter if it drys out I will try to finish the front porch railings.

Still doing well out here! Kay and I both recovering and quite happy!
Still in the painting! I doubt any of these items will ever be painted again during my span anyway. Got all the patio furniture done, then Saturday did the waterfall, (weathered it), a Mill Stone fountain, some various decorative bricks, and a small pagoda. Today do an old hand pump and stand. That will leave the pool heater and filter, then to the front yard.
Had to intrupt the schedule for some train room activity. Keep in mind that the room is a "screended in patio" area. The walls are a vinyl product filled with 4" of foam material. When it was put up I put a ledger board around the top, to secure shelving to. Then added some vertical 1x4's to mount the shelf brackets to. One side of the shelving I noticed a gap between the vertical board and wall. So that wont do, and I had visons of a disaster. So beefing up the framing a bit, putting a T bracket up, securing it to the ledger board, and the vertical 1x4. Using wall board screws and liquid nails. I think it will work. So we will see.
Did go to a train meet yesterday, saw SPRay, he is looking real good, and he picked up a really nice looking book. I took Kay with me she really seemed to enjoy it. I picked up a couple of Diesel truck (tractors) to couple with some of the piggy back trailers and place on the layout. (They were the correct size and only $5 each.) Felt sorry for the seller. Later I overheard him saying his spouse had passed within the past month. He was saying he had been with her many, many years. (Apparently a "common law" marriage.) Anyway, she left ALL her assests to a niece that she rarely saw, and he got nothing. As they had a reverse mortgage on the house, if he wants to stay there he must purchase the house, including paying back the money from the reverse mortgage. He said he has 45 days to decide, and if he is not buying it. He must tear down his layout and find a place to live. Tough! So he was selling stuff like crazy, including the auction. (He seemed a little bit unsavery, but Im sure there is another side, or more to the story. Still felt bad for him though.)
My buddy Bob, is on his way to York, he left last Thursday. He and his wife are going to be gone for about 6 weeks. He told me they were going to stop at EVERY train museum and store the entire time. Told him to bring me a brochure from all the places. He plans on shipping his purchases to me from York. Should really be interesting, especially since it is his first trip there.
Sun is up so better get started. I sure am glad the the tornadoes didnt get to any of you! And Kev, I can remember when I lived in Rockford, no matter what you planned for the day you HAD to be preparred to change your plans due to the weather. It changed so quickly. It also seems surprising that after 50 years with all the additional data, and improved technologies that forecasting hasn't improved much. Just goes to show, Mother Nature can't be reckoned with, or out guessed.

Went to the TTOS meet yesterday and was glad to see D. Baker and Kay. It was reallly good to see Don back on his feet again after these many months. I did pick up a picture book with artist renditions of the Titanic story. Nice buy for $5. Talked to my friend Larry and his wife too. They are going on a long driving trip around the country soon. He has retired from the Jazz band and is using his new found freedom. He will still play a few gigs with other bands though but not too much.
Taking wife to our primary doctor today for check up. She has a shake now in her right hand. Don't know if they can do anything about that.
Nothing new about my terminally ill sister in Virginia. I assume no news, is good news but not really.
Been eating out lately at a place called the Silver Spoon. I think they should call it the greasy spoon. They cook everything on a flat grill but don't drain the meat on a paper towel or something. It is delivered to your table with grease on top. Food isn't bad but I have to train the cooks.
We are chipping in to help my grandson pay for his first year in college this fall. He got a scholorship for the tuition but we and his parents have to pay the room and board. He is in the top 5% of his class in high school but there are a larger than normal number of students applying for colleges this fall. He did get offers from three good University of California campuses but schools like USC and UCLA must be picking from the top 1%. It is really competitive this year.
Wife has two more doctor appointments this week also. Hope we learn something from them.
Watched the Masters golf this week. Looks like they have a new Tiger Woods now with a 21 year old kid blowing them all away with a four stroke win and tying the course record of low score. Congratulations to Jordan Speith.

Today I finished the front porch railings. 76 pickets, 7 upright post, and 10 horizontal rails X2. All one coat of sealer and one coat of topcoat tint. What a PITA.
Tomorrow I will finish off the deck floor and decide what to do with the rotten steps. And the cost of the paint went up, $42.74 a gallon on sale from $49.99 a gallon regular price. Glad I printed out a $10,00 coupon before I went to get it.. Sherwin-Williams deck paint.
Moving along.
Long drive home this evening. Work was ok. Wife finally made it home. Car fix was minor. I hope everyone has a good day.

Yet another quiet night on the mountain.
Worked on the #60 trolley 'project'. This thing is going to be a tribute to Jeff Running Bear when it's done, as so far it has postwar Lionel, prewar Flyer, and Marx parts in it.
It's basically going to be a tinplate Railway Postal Service trolley. And yes, one of these in the full size version does actually exist. (thanks to DougM for pointing me to the link:).
I may do a seperate thread on it at some point as it has been a fairly interesting and entertaining project. Althought I imagine the purists and rivet-counters will hate it:) But considering it's all made of parts that came from various junk bins it's more of a recyling project.

Better get with it Chief, a lot of the gardeners here in PA have their Sugar Peas and Onions in already. I don't garden anymore, but can remember using a piece of rebar and a hammer to make holes to plant Sugar Peas when the ground was still froozen. It was always very competitive to get yours in first

Life has been busy the last few days. All is well. Just a lot of work around the house. Cleaning up this house will take months/years of spare time.

Cloudy and gray day today. High was about 63. Had a great rain Sun night/Mon morning. Got over an inch at my house and I think it hit our water districts lakes. Some talk his week about easing water restrictions. We have more storm predictions for later this week. Most excellent! Weather a bit warmer for rest of the week. 70's.

Took wife to Neurologist today and had a good visit with him. Actually had a conversation for a change. I think my primary physician must have lit a fire under him because I mentioned that I was not getting any feedback from him.
Hope Don's buddy Bob is going to have a good time at York. He will be overwhelmed because this is his first time. I know I was.
Wifey and I had a nice lunch out after the doctor visit.
My son who lives with us informed me that he will not be home for dinner for the next three nights due to dates and personal business. I was glad to hear it so I won't have to cook dinner for three. Wife and I might just eat out while he is gone.
Brother in Virginia says sister is slightly improved but still a long way to go. Hoping for the best.
Still expecting delivery of my Santa Fe 4-8-4 in for repair at MTH after 5 months. Nothing yet. Was told delivery would be soon.
Have cut back on watering here due to drought. No mandatory rationing yet but I expect it soon. Govenor wants to cut usage by 25%. I'm afraid to ask if I can change the water in my pool when it gets too much chemical in it. That might go over like a lead baloon. Alternative is drain it and then spend ten grand for a new liner when drought is over. Not good!

Mostly sunny and high 60's today. I really enjoyed the sunshine while I was out for lunch. Rain blowing in from the south east tonight.
I was able to snipe a P.E. Berkshire and tender on e-bay last night for $89. Price was right, and I've been thinking about getting a spare.

Serviced the Marx #666 since I had it apart to look at the e-unit wiring. It has the same e-unit as the one I put in the trolley.
I may have found an appropriate roof for the trolley. If nothing else comes up I'll may make a temporary out of bass wood. For those of you familiar w/ prewar Flyer (not me:), the car body is a # 1205.
More trolley (the real one) work this weekend and some Corvair work too. Hopefully, I can get the wiring I need done on the van. Maybe even finally spring for a battery. 4dr needs some minor adjustments after the engine mount install. Got to set things for the heat since summer is coming.

As for yesterday's project:
Well the more I pulled wood off of the deck stairs the worse it was, Got down to the treated stringers before I found something not rotted out. So it was time for a new plan. Went to the neighbor Brian's got used treated 2x6 and made something that will work till I figure out what the issue is. It looks like from what I can tell a very small bug seems to like cedar, ???? Anyhow, there is now stairs without railings but you can get on and off the deck.
There are three steps and anything more than two steps you have to have a rail
Still have to replace a bunch of wood so today I will get that and go from there.
On a good note it is nice outside at last.
