Good morning all,

Went to Good Friday services yesterday which was very long but is normal but had to go home after about an hour because wife's neck pain was acting up.

Looking forward to a good day on Easter.  Have got spiral cut ham ready to go and all the trimmings for the family.

I have been trying to figure out how to cook baby back ribs on a gas grill but I guess they do best on a charcoal fire.  Stuff on google suggest doing indirect cooking on gas grill but you don't get that smoky flavor.  Best bet is just buy some and let somebody else do the cooking.

Got a pulled pork sandwich a while back at a so called bar-b-que place out here but it was nothing like Eastern N.C. Que.  Cole slaw was not authentic either.  Only way get good bar=b-que here is do it yourself or mail order it from the East.

Went to lunch with my train buddies Thursday for the first time in ages.  Enjoyed it!

Chief, have fun driving your train.

later,

Ray

Evening all!

Beautiful day here today. Cold front last night cooled things off nicely.  Maybe 70 today.

Getting ready for Easter events tomorrow. Vacuumed the house for the Ms.

New AC is in and working. Needed it yesterday. Extremely humid so even though it was not that warm had to run it to dry the air in the house a bit. Negotiated a 10 yr P & L and a discount.

Dennis Happy B-Day (belated)

Well I guess my chances of being a model in France have improved.

Have a great day all!

Good evening,

I was busy as projected today.  I made the first pass at cleaning out the front flower beds and they look much better; however, they still need a bit more TLC.  I cleaned out some old items from the garage and dropped them off at the neighborhood sanitation department.  Then I made the wife a lemon meringue pie, started marinated the lamb, and made two Italian Easter pies.  All the pies came out great and I'm looking forward to some lamb tomorrow.  Some kind folks from my office brought us dinner tonight since the wife is still ailing; however, she is improving every day.  I caught the end of the Duke game and it was nice to see Wisconsin upset Kentucky.  Monday's game should be a good one.

Roy - The model quip was hilarious.  Laugh  I read that article in today's paper; Spain and Italy made that same law some time ago.  You better start taking French.

Happy Belated Birthday Dennis!

SP Ray - You can smoke ribs (or any other item) on a gas grill.  You simply need to buy some wood chips, soak them in water, and them put them in a foil pouch.  Poke some holes in the pouch (multiple pouches may be needed), place the pouch over the direct heat, and the meat on the other side.  I do this all the time and I am always pleased with the results.  Let me know if you need more specifics.

Good night,

Joe

Wanted to wish everyone a Happy Easter!!!!  We will be celebrating at home after church, with the Inlaws.  Still working on my various painting projects.  Not much news on the train front.  Well one thing, a friend gave me a Lionel Playground that was not working.  (The Teater Toter).  Any way I opened it up and was certain it was missing a piece, (gear with a cam on it).  So looked and looked, couldn't even find an IPB for it.  Thought I would see IF I could fab something.  Took another look at it last night, after 2 mths.  Realized the wrong gear was in the wrong place.  Switched them and that will solve the problem.  Then realized the on/off switch has a direct short in it.  So will need to find a replacement pot for that, which shouldn't be too bad.

Prays for all those in need!  And even though I haven't been posting a lot, I think of you all often.  I have this new found freedom and ability to do something, and LOVE it!!!  I'm getting a life back!!

Take care all and Be Safe and Stay Healthy!

Good evening all,

A good day.  Watched 2 great soccer matches with one featuring an outstanding 65 yard goal shot from the defensive end and the other match was a 5-4 decision in a goal fest.  See where the team supported by Ashley Judd finally lost.  Wonder where she will show up next?   Helped the wife get the house ready for tomorrow.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Happy Easter to all. Looking forward to York. Will have a table in Blue Hall to help brother and SIL sell off her father's HO (he passed away a month or so ago and had been in hospice since November). The guy was truly an artist, beautiful custom made buildings. Lots of locos, rolling stock etc.

Take care,

Mitch

Happy Easter To Everyone!  It's a beautiful day here in the Heartlands, and it appears that winter is in the rear view mirror as the trees here are all budded out and the grass is green Smile, Wink & Grin

Ray -- I've been smoking ribs, pork shoulders, briskets, chicken, salmon and scallops for a little over 17 years.  It's a great hobby that brings many wonderful meals to the table.  I have two smokers, one for medium size meals (Hasty Bake) and one large one (Horizon) for bigger get togethers.  They are both wood fired (hardwood lump coals) and work great.  Part of the "trick" of successfully smoking meats is the rub you use and the wood you choose for adding to the fire.  It's a hobby for me that has evolved slowly and I think I have it down pretty good right now.  You can't be in a hurry when smoking meats  --  low and slow are the key words.  With all that said, your best bet would be to search out the best rib joint in your area and let them do the work.  Our evening meal tonight will be two racks of ribs w/cole slaw, corn bread and that's just for the two of us!  The 2nd rack will be for us later this week.

One of our great joys when we do road trips is to search out BBQ joints,  that has really been FUN.  I've got some great stories.

Jon

Evening all!

Happy Easter. A great day today with a very nice church service.

Raining this morning. Cloudy and high of 55 with some mist this afternoon.

I can expertly overcook anything on a grill, gas or charcoal. I am also happy to provide any tips.

Doug - Wriggly Field delays hit the evening news here. Looks like if you show up with some wrenches and a welding rig you could have a seat for the early part of the  season!

Have a great evening all! Off to dinner with the family.

Good evening all,

Good church service.  Nice lunch with oldest daughter and family.  Grandkids enjoyed the LEGOs I got for them to play with here.   Went outside for an Easter Egg hunt, and played some soccer as well.  Ran the standard guage for the grandkids.  A good day.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Aloha. Grey but warmish downtown today. Looks like some much-needed rain is on the way. We enjoyed a nice Easter meal on a beautiful spring day. I filled 52 plastic eggs with little treats that the little nieces and nephews found. I helped my FiL by moving his outdoor furniture and lawnmower up from the basement and putting away his snowblower. I hope to aerate and overseed the lawn today when I get home from work. It's a mess. I'm envious of your green thumbs.

Roy, I think all Cubs fans are required to wear hard hats and work between innings. It's weird how under construction everything is in Wrigley - it'll take them until 2018 to finish up (looks like the ball club itself needs a bit more work). I am glad your Maggie has bounced back!

Bob, have you ever looked at the Graham Farnish N scale line? There are some nice English trolley-ish trams.

Dennis - happy belated Birthday. Hope you felt celebrated last week.

Kev, that RI tandem looks great. I visited Chicagoland Hobbies last week and they had one in good shape for $200. You did well.

Don, so glad you are moving around.

Jon, it is 8 am and now I want some BBQ... Smile

Good morning all,

Wife started feeling faint in church yesterday so we went outside for a while.  It was her old claustrophobia thing again.  She can't handle big crowds.  Normal church is OK but the place is always full at Christmas and Easter.  Dinner went well and we all had a good meal followed by apple pie a la mode.

Rain is actually forcast in the next day or two.  Hope we get some.  I have cut back on my watering voluntarily before we get hit with mandatory rationing.

Have a good week,

Ray

Evenin' fellas...

I think it has been a couple weeks since I've checked in... still breathing. Smile

Like Don said, although I've not posted much I have been thinking of you all. Hey - was that Mitch with a drive-by? Good to see he is still around. Thumbs Up

York is right around the corner. Can't wait. After a year off, it will be good to see the guys again. Hope to drop the kiddos off at daycare when it opens and hopefully make to Round-the-Clock before you all head to the show.

Christina has been asking to go on another train ride, so that is on the books for next Saturday when TheQ is at a morning function, then in the evening we'll drop the kiddos off at daycare for Parent's Night Out, it is a nice thing daycare does for the parents so they can get out without the kids (and miss them like crazy) and not spend more on baby sitters than they do going out.

Good Morning,

We got the rain last night guys and will for the next two days. 43 cloudy and going to 60 today. Warmer and rain till Friday. Sending all to points east.

My uncle Johnny is coming over at noon. We are going to Seneca for lunch then I will work on his prewar Marx steamer while he runs his new to him Rock Island Marx AB set around the layout. I will try to get a video and some pictures of the steamer to see if anyone can figure out for sure what it is. I have never seen couplers like it has???  Confused

Have a good day.

Aloha. Rainy and feels freezing. I definitely wore the wrong jacket today. Although I am wearing White Sox gear because we're allowed to do so today to celebrate the beginning of baseball. Boy, did they get shellacked yesterday! I have another meeting at church tonight that I may skip because I had one last night too... Spent more train money on more wedding stuff yesterday too. Smile
