Wednesday!!!

A blistering 16F here in Central New Jersey....

Spent another 2 hours debugging the computer then in bed by 930....almost there...if this goes on much longer, I may bring it back to Staples to have then clean it....

Not much else, I may spend more time with it, then again, maybe not....I need to get caught up on a few things.

Back to work....

Angel for those ailing....

I don't want to rub it in, But would you believe it is going to be.......

84 HERE TODAY !!  Cowboy

BTW,  What's the deal with Snow Shovels AND Ice Scrappers?  IF you are shoveling snow wouldn't you pick up the ice at the same time?  Or is it a two step process?  And how can you use the same Ice Scrapper as you use on car windows?

Speaking of windows, Kay has a whole list of chores for me today, washing windows (inside and out), vacuum the pool, then mowing and watering the lawn.  So better get busy!

Hope you ALL have a great day, and be careful!  And stay WARM and Healthy!!

V8, yep, it was the same girl.

Good morning all,

Got my new crown installed yesterday at the dentist.  Looks good but partial is a little tight around it.  Might need an adjustment.

Have to go to Pasadena today on business.  Hope traffic is not bad.

Another beautiful Day near 80 they say.

Gardener coming tomorrow and has been alerted about my bad order sprinkler head.  Watering with portable sprinkler today.

Still can't get this new format to show a quote.

later,

'tis cold. 'tis white. 'tis time for hot grits in a broadcast spreader.  Almost met my maker yesterday morning when a sliding garbage truck nearly took off the front end of my cruiser.  I literally had just moved 5 seconds prior, as it spun through my tire tracks. Whistling  A balmy 26 with passing sqwals today.

One good reason not to live in CA.  Cold, we don't have chores.  We sit inside by the cozy fire and watch TV or read model train magazines. Whistling

Good evening all,

All in all, a good day.  Went for a shorter than normal walk outside.  Work went well.  Got to scrimmage with the high school kids in indoor soccer.  Made some good touches.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Glad you are OK Buddy!

Got a text message from my renter on Sunday that she had no heat... so I called the guy that installed the furnace 16 years ago and he went out to check. Found the motor for the fan that draws the exhaust up the chimney was dead - $690.00 for a new fan, but nothing else needed. Looks like a new furnace and A/C are going to be in the works for the rental property in the near future... UGH.

Was 2 degrees on the BMW dash when I dropped the kiddos off at daycare. Last night when I pumped gas, it was so cold the card readers weren't working on the pumps, and standing outside for more than a minute my ears were hurting. It is really dangerous out there fellas - please stay safe!

That goes for you Laz! We all know how much you love the outdoors!

Staying in, got the coughing thing.

No aches or pains though.

Chat with Charlie, Brutus and RT last night.

Your thoughts???  Why does Menards offer so many items with mail in rebates? Name and address perhaps, but that can be done at the register.

SJ,
Sandra is on week two of the cough thing. Bad stuff.
My thought is it is a thing called merchandising. They reel you in with the rebate price then hope you don’t bother sending in for the rebate. They know what percentage of people will not follow through and they keep the money.

- 10 last night and a warm -1 right now.

Heading to Farm and Fleet for Deer corn.

Stay warm.

Morning all 25 going up to 33 today wife says it cold out there the northern in me goes out with a light zipper sweat shirt to get mail and feel find lol she goes out bundled for alaska and comes in shivering to the bone it to funny to watch I come in and she shivers as I make her cold just seeing me.

Well S.J. I say its a little of both yours and Kevins get your mailing address and they know theres a percentage that will forget to get, loose or mail in the rebate certificate so they still come out ahead on that percentage also. so in all its a win win for them.

Well time to move on all have a good day talk to you all in near future

The percentage thing seems to be a logical reason. They draw you in with a sale price. Save the $$ on unanswered rebates.

RT, and SJ, I have done it a lot and never got any junk mail or even flyers from them. But the dark side of some of their rebates is it only comes back as for use in store cash vouchers.

They do like to know where people are so they can decide where they need stores also sometimes. Just harvesting information.

Good evening all,

Still cold in SE Indiana.   Wind blew the PT all over the road on the way home tonight.  Did not walk outside today.  Work went very well today.   Watched 2 more Sherlock shows tonight, including the episode about Silver Blaze, which has one of the best lines in literature ever.

“To the curious incident of the dog in the night-time.”

“The dog did nothing in the night-time.”

“That was the curious incident,” remarked Sherlock Holmes.

Classic Holmes.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Evening all!

Temps last night dropped 15 degrees in about an hour. No snow here but cold.. Might get some frosty precip south of here tomorrow. Fire going. Toasty.

LAZ - tremblers about 15 miles west of here. Got everyone there all upset. We have a long way for these flatlands to slide into the ocean. That part of town is built on unstable ground and that is well known. There is also a known fault line in the area. They are trying to go after the oil fracking guys.

Fife - nice luck there. Few years back on a freezing sleet day a car coming out of a parking lot tried to beat the oncoming traffic of which I was in the lead. They spun and for a moment they were coming right at me. Luck had them spin it around again and into/over a curb into the median. I was very lucky and it served them right for such a dumb move in the first place.

SJ - my experience is the savings do not offset the time it takes me to do the online forms. I agree they are gathering your info, possibly for the NSA!

Stay warm!

Regards, Roy

Good evening all,

Took wife to doctor this morning.  We went shopping this afternoon. Seems like we had to stand in line for everything we did today.

Gardener checked out sprinkler system tonight and found a broken water pipe where I was loosing all the pressure.  He will be back on Saturday to try and fix it.  Will have to splice in a new section if that's possible or replace the whole line I guess.

Did some grocery shopping after bringing wife home, then cooked dinner.  I'm pooped

later,

Ray

Most retailers no longer do this because if/when word gets out it really hurts their bottom line. The biggest culprits to this practice are insurance companies because they know switching typically results in rate hikes for a year or so, and switching is difficult to time correctly - and they don't have to send your rebate for up to 6 months. Also, lenders (CC and banks) do it quite often. The law needs to be changed so companies are not permitted to do this (they should NOT own the rights to YOUR personal information), but it won't till the populous demands it.

Not much on the slate for today, just need to finish a couple projects here at the office, do a software demo, then prepare for the weekend.

Aloha. Back from grocery shopping. I had to shovel out and push the bride's car out of the driveway early this am. She was not happy - serves me right for not clearing things out one more time the night before. It's about 17 below with the breeze right now but the sun is up. In a little while, I'll go try to push some snow around...

Gas? The stations here in Texcess are paying us to take it from them!

LAZ - is that a pic of how fracking works?

TGIF..............

I think I'm going to cancel my trip to Buckeye Lake Beach this weekend.  It is tad too cold and I'm tired from working so hard to keep the SS checks flowing.

Next week I get to go to Toledo.  Wow  There are a couple of great Train Stores in the area including Stockyard Express.

Gas went from $1.74 to $2.09. Zzz Sure beats $3.89.

Afternoon all.  Heat wave.  38 degrees but was suppose to be mid 40's.  Oh well.  Better than yesterday when it did not make the magical 32.

Busy this AM and afternoon.  Did get haircut [see Sir. J., HAIR].

Off to another meeting [informal with lots of sweet ice tea].

Stay warm.
