Good evening all,

A nothing day turned out to be really nothing.  Did not sleep at all last night.  Some sort of stomache issue laid me low.  Just rested today.  Did talk with Lucas.  Was hoping to see him Saturday, but he is working all day.  Watched 2 more Sherlock episodes.   That is the some total of my activity today.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Happy New Year!

It's been a quiet day here.  The older son and I did take care of remaing leaves that were in the backyard, but other than that and a quick trip to Home Depot it was easy going.  I watched the game slip away from Minnesota today and then heard about MSU's comeback.  It could be a good bowl season for the Big Ten.

Last night, the wife and I joined my boss and his wife for dinner.  We went to a local steak restuarant that has received national noteriety.  It is old fashioned (cash or check only) and always busy.  I had some tasty lamb chops and will definitely return.  The wife and I were asleep by 23:30.

Happy Birthday Laz!

Dang, who left the freezer door open last nite ? When I left for the museum this morning it was 25*. Took forever for the ice on the windshield to melt, no ice-scrapers in SoCal. Not supposed to be that cold in the morning tomorrow, wish I had kept my old ski gloves.

We were very busy today, many more visitors than we expected. Best part was the gremlins didn't materialize.

Happy B-Day to laz !

Gettin tired, need to get ready for tomorrow.

Nite all !

Enjoyed the Cottom Bowl today.  GO GREEN.  Never give up, never surrender!

Worked on my 646 Hudson last night while watching Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve.  The 646 would run a couple of laps on the layout, then just stop - no lights, no nothing.  Cycling the power on the transformer would bring it back to life for anouther couple of laps when it would stop again.

Pulled the shell off, checked all of the wiring and didn't find much.  About the only thing that looked odd was the wire leading to the field coil was very close to the motor frame.  I pried the wire away from the the motor frame then started to reassemble the locomotive one component at a time, running the loco on the bench at each step - no issues. Ran the loco on a small test loop of track for 15 minutes or so without any issues.  Looks like whatever I did worked.

My wife is running her collection of Downtown Abby DVDs in a marathon yesterday and today.  Says she wants to refresh her memory so she is ready for the new season that is soon to air.

All for now.

Mornin' boys.  Partly Cloudy & 32 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Still working on the bathroom.  Wifey doesn't like the color paint (bed of roses Whistling) that she picked out.  Too late.

Did find a Rose Art cork board at the local Goodwill.  My 3656 stockyard fits smartly on same, as with a Marx 74 semaphore.  I need to finish honey-doooos before I can fire it up = in-cen-teeev. Geeked

We have 31 degrees this morning.

A good football day for me. Michigan State and the Buckeyes won. It's good to get the win but a loss wouldn't end my world. It's a game just move on. The holidays are over so now we wait through a long long winter.

Good Morning Guys!

The only thing on the agenda is splitting some firewood. Glad I have a log splitter.

Fife: I thought the same. You are leaving and he is starting. Doray was beeming ear to ear when I opened the 773. Johnny told me that she was all excited when they got it.

Enjoy the Day!

Good morning all,

Slept late this morning and missed our scheduled time at the chapel at church.  I think we are going to have to take our name off the list of people who are signed up for a specific time.  I have just too much on my plate to remember everything.  We can still go but would not have anyone depending  on us to be there.  Oldest son spend the afternoon and evening with us yesterday and we all went out for a burger later.  It was a nice get together.  Youngest son came in late like something the cat dragged in after two days of New Year celebrating and Rose Parade.  He's up early this morning and gone again although he's off today, leaving me with some chores if I don't want to wait for him.

Saw the Move "42" last night on DVD about Jackie Robinson.  Good movie but seemed too short.  I like those period things and things about baseball.

Watched a little of the Rose Bowl but had no dog in the fight.  Oregon embarrased Florida State in the second half but it was close in the early quarter.

Might go to Costco today if the spirit moves me.

later,

Ray

Good evening,

It was a bit warmer today, but we're looking at some freezing rain overnight.  We did some grocery shopping this morning, but not much else.  Tomorrow, we will take down the Christmas decorations, which includes putting up the Christmas trains.  I need to get moving on a layout in the basement.

That's it for now.

Good evening all,

Better day today.  Got the cruise control installed on van.  Very nice to have.  Went to see "Into the Woods".  Good movie.  A little different take on some of the fairy tales we heard as kids.   Watched 2 more Sherlock shows.   Did some work on another article.  Have some more ideas to write on.   Not much more to say.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Got to lake house at noon.  Furnace not firing.  Had to drive back to Henderson and get part.  Neighbor and I installed controller for igniter.  All fixed.

Why I want to sell that place.  If something breaks, 30 minutes to get part and 30 back.

Sleep tight.

Mornin' boys.  Damp & 39 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Finished the bathroom project last night, and celebrated with wings and Yeungs (as laz would say).  Wifey was very pleased.  Now I can spend today working on my Lionel stockyard.  Gonna throw a loop of track down around the tree, before the grandson comes over later.

Invited my neighbors and theiy 3 yr old grandson over to watch trains the other night.  Child is somewhat shy and a little withdrawn...but he loves trains.  45 minutes later, he was still at the controls.  Gave Wifey and me big hugs as he was leaving.  Next day, asked neighbor how our "little engineer" was doing.  He was till chatty about the night before.  Smile, Wink & Grin

Good Morning Boyz & Gurlz !

A bit of insomnia this morning, guess I reclinerized to much last nite before bed.

Good day yesterday, no pile-ups and no gremlins. Thumbs Up Museum was busy all day, will be going in on Monday to take down all the Christmas decorations. Time to start thinking about the Easter Bunny Train ?

8n, I have a simple rule "credit cards  never leave my wallet". Well, almost never.

Fife, Watching the munchkins at halloween is why the BetterHalf and I enjoy putting up the garage display every year. It is surprising how many will notice something new on the layout even though they haven't seen it in a year. Just something about kids & trains. Hopefully we'll see the same response next year with the Christmas garage display.

Time to get moving.

Later all !

Been raining onto frozen ground all day. Slick as can be. Snow tonight. Hmm Boys at the township must be sleeping, nothing done to the roads, solid ice. Going to just stay put.

Had a friend's two boys stop over last night to see the trains. An 8 year old and a 10 year old. All had fun. Smile

Good Afternoon guys! 40 degrees and Raining

Quiet Day today. Just doing some train repairs and stoking the wood stove. Going to the Greenburg Show in Somerset, NJ tomorrow.

Kids and Trains: Guys whenever kids come to my house it is, "Can we play with the trains?" My answer is always yes. I try to encourage them with the hobby and show parents and grandparents just because they are "Lionel" you do not have to spend a fortune. Also all of the fun that they can have on just a 4x8 space. I am fortunate to have layouts at 2 locations. The 4x6 "Test Track" that I put up on the old HO table at my Mom's house when I was taking care of her during her bout with cancer (at 85 she beat it) grew to 8x12. I refer to that layout as the Branchline. Mom invites neighbors and friends to see it and you would be surprised how many "Senior Citizens" dug out their trains to run around the tree this year. In other words I am glad to see all of you guys sharing your trains with others.

Enjoy the day.

HUDSONJOHN,

Big CONGAs for your son HUDSONJOHNSSON!!!!!  Glad to see he made it to the Academy.

If DORAY still has those foam protectors for her ice cream containers please save me a few of them.  They really worked out great for working on the engines.  Wish I would have taken a few more from ya.

Good evening,

It has been raining most of the day and  it is chilly, so there was no reason to leave the house.  The wife and I took down the Christmas decorations and did some other minor house chores.  I made pork schnitzel for dinner and the wife made a gravy for it.  We rounded it out with roasted sweet potatoes and okra and a salad.  I'm looking forward to tonight's game between the Steelers and Ravens.

Laz - I was back in Shendo for Thanksgiving, and I definitely ate my share of kielbo.

Evening all!

The wife and I packed up the decorations today so that is done for another year.

We got a welcome inch of rain last night. It hit about 50 today so made outdoor chores pleasant.

Went out to dinner with neighborhood friends. I had a salad as I have eaten enough the last two weeks to last until March I think.

I need to talk to Social Security in the next week or so. I need them to make Buckeye work harder.

Watching Baltimore hold off Steelers - oops Fifer - big fumble by the Ravens here at the beg of the 4th - will the Steelers capitalize?

All is good with the world in Buckeye Land...

Regards, Roy
