Evening all was a rough day today just dragged the whole day. hope I do better tonight. wife still going bonkers on me about things. Bless her sole shes just shooked up because of this.

Same here on the rough day. At&t had issues with their equipment so I get to do it all over again Wednesday. At least I get to start at 5 instead of 4.
I think I need to take a vacation just to work on my trains.
At least plans are coming together in my head! Thinking 1/2" platform should work. What is everyone else using?
Not sure on the frame work. I figure 2x4's for legs.
Still looking for photo posting site...
If you're sick - get better!
If you're reading this quit and mess with your trains .... it will make ya feel better.

Good night all.

Went to dentist today.  $190 for a small filling.  Asked how much for a full upper denture.  It was $1300.  Somehow  that doesn't seem right.  Almost cheaper to get  a whole set of false teeth.  When I was a kid, a filling was $5.  If you wanted novacaine which was optional, it was an extra $5.  I used to keep the extra 5 and just leave my fingerprints on the dentist chair arms, then spend the money for something that was more fun.

Re York, BWI was better for me too when I used to go because of more flights and times.  Flew to Harrisburg once and got some kind of German commuter plane from Chicago to Harrisburg.  Did not like the ride on that plane.  Too bumpy.  I think he got too close to the plane ahead of him and got the jet wash.  Haven't been to York now in about 11 years.  No orange hall when I last went.  Spending all my train money on getting my ACL E6's repaired by MTH but don't expect to hear from them for about another month.

later,

Ray

Kev, I am sure, all things considered (I dont rebuild  motors, nor have i ever re wound one)  I would guess thats the going rate.

it seems fair for what i would assume to be involved

i think magnet wire is 25 some thing a pound?

I dont know, i probably wouldnt do it for less.

The temp is 46 still no global warming here.

Well we have 70s just to the south of us and it rained all day just north of us. We sit in the damp gloomy middle. Granny did some house cleaning today so I guess she's feeling better and I did a good job of staying out of the way. The Michigan basketball team was welcomed home with bands and praise so all is well here...Banilla and root beer for all tonight..S.J.

Jeffrey - some weather coming your way tomorrow.Hope the new fridge is "cool".

Ryan - yes HAI is closer but I can fly direct to BWI and it is only an hour drive. To get to Harrisburg I have to fly through Dulles or Pittsburgh, change flights, it costs a LOT more, and I still have to rent a car (LAZ won't loan me the Bentley).

If you want diversity - it is currently 35 in Amarillo TX and 107 in Laredo TX. They are now saying low 30s tonight and might not break 59 tomorrow. It is 80 right now.

There was no mention of wind and rain in this mornings weather forecast. Now we have both. Isolated showers with winds of up to 35 mph. Out here by the lake there's a near 40 mph wind out on the lake and the white caps are rolling. Think I'll stay inside.

WOW a steamy 80 some odd degrees here today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this weather has brought them out.  we are getting our butts kicked at work.....

WRM, why not fly into HIA I know its a crappy airport, but no lines and just as close if not closer to york than BWI?

Back to the Scrapple topic.....   a friend of mine gave me 2 loaves of it last fall. I gave one away, and forgot about the other in the truck, so when I found it a few (cold) days later i tossed it in the yard thinking the cats would eat it.

NOPE, they ALL took turns covering it up like it was a giant piece of POOP!!!!

If an animal wont eat something, humans probably shouldnt eat it either,,,,,

I've gotten the coupler swap-out done on all six of my FP7. Each one has a Kadee 147 in the pilot and a Kadee 119 on the rear and they're OK by the height gauge.

I got my food from my nieces fridge this morning and it's now in mine where it belongs. I've been working on getting the temp set properly and I think I've got it. I'll check it in an hour and see.

I think that's about all I'll do for today and just relax the rest of the day.

I think an exact thermometer is ridiculous overkill.  I have a refrigerator thermometer, did exactly what Jeffrey did, and that was the end of it.  The unit cycles on and off, the temps vary up and down during the cycle, but the desired temp is essentially maintained plus or minus a degree or two.  With all of the people in my house going in and out of the refrigerator and freezer all day long, and standing there with the doors open staring forever, I think the only time my unit can reach and maintain the set temp is when everyone is asleep!!!!!       JACK.

Jack and Ray: Yeah, the 33 degrees is too cold. I was using it as a starting point. I'm slowly moving the control back a notch at a time, checking the temp every hour or so. I'm trying to get it to about 38 degrees. I figure that should be the best temp. I wanted to start at freezing because you can always thaw frozen food, there's no saving food that wasn't cold enough. You'd figure that in this age where we can invent on Tuesday what was impossible on Monday that somebody could come up with an accurate, marked, affordable thermostat for a refrigerator instead of the old dial that says COLD at one end and COLDEST at the other end like mine does. That's so 1950's! My nieces fridge has a hyper-accurate thermostat that controls the temp to a tenth of a degree but her fridge is stainless steel and cost $4,000 (she got it on sale!) and it makes the most perfect looking ice cubes you've ever seen. It can even mix drinks! Very handy but no way could I ever afford that.

As usual lately my father paid for it. I don't know what he's expecting in return

Jeffrey, maybe it's because he loves you.  Anyway, glad you got a new fridge. That 33 degrees in the refigerator part sounds a little too cold to me.  Maybe you could kick it up a notch or two.

Chief, I looked at your video.  Pretty disturbing stuff but should not surprise us.  China is our banker and has financed all our wars among other things.  All kinds of corportations are in bed with them it seems nowadays.  Don't think I will be buying any GM cars anytime soon though.

JEFFREY.....congrats on the new fridge.  At 33 degrees the beer will be safe but you are on the edge with the milk and veggies possibly freezing as the temp cycles up and down.  Thumbs Up   JACK.

Lunch Time! It just hit 80! Just think 2 nights ago we had the wood stove going. Got the East side of the yard looking good. About 3 cords of logs stacked to be split for firewood. I have 5 large diameter oak logs to be cut down to length. That I will do tomorrow. After lunch I will work about an hour more, run the trains for a bit and get ready for class tonight.

Chief: Congrats on the Library. I get a little torqued when I think about all of the facilities that GM and Ford closed around here and sent it out of the country. GM closed it's large assembly plant in Linden also Hyatt Roller Bearing, Delco-Remy, just to name a few. Ford closed it's plant in Mahwah and the famous one in Edison/Metuchen that made the Mustang and later the Ranger and other models.

Laz: York on my mind.

SJ: The Lemon Ice Cream is ready.

Enjoy the Day!

Beautiful day.  Sunny and 82 later.  Low was 59.  Some of you Yanks are in for bad weather.  Hope all stay OK.

Seems the REBS beat the Yanks in basketball.  Don't try and tell me Kentuck is a Yank state. Wink

CPA and taxes later this afternoon.

Got to mow grass again.  Then spray Roundup.  Probably re-disk Grady's garden tomorrow.  Maybe it has dried out more.  Do mine too and then shovel beds for planting.

Good morning. It's 70° with 88% humidity. It will be cloudy with a high of 82°.

No plans for today other than going to get my groceries out of my nieces fridge/freezer and put them in my new one. The fridge is 33° and the freezer is -5°. Other than that I think I'll just take it easy today.

Temp is 41 and the sky is gloomy.

I'm sure grandson # 3 is not happy this morning about Michigan's loss last night. But they did make Ky work for their win. Granny is upstairs cleaning, I stay out of the way unless called upon. Thinking about what to pack for York. I can't decide if one pair of boxers is enough or should I toss a pair in the suitcase. For the OGR readers I had corn beef hash, one egg and toast.... oh and half an orange....S.J.

Good morning! Sunny and 70 at the Jersey Shore!

Had a busy night at the Vo-Tech last night. The nice weather inspired the guys to get into gear and get them ready for paint. Wifey beat me home and was doing her ebay thing so I missed the Tardis. A neighbor up the street gave my son an older Sears 9hp Lawn Vac/Chipper that supposedly had a seized engine. I checked it out this morning and it had a nice piece of bark jammed in the blades. Running fine now. in fact it is on his trailer gong to a job.

Brent: Christina is a lot like my Michele was when she was her age. I was building the house then and Doray would go to work on weekends. Guess who would be with me!

RT: I have been a Firefighter since 1975 and everytime I see or hear about a house fire I cringe. It does take an emotional toll on the residents besides the loss of possessions and property. Christmas time is the worst.

Chief: Thanks for the video. I bought a GMC Pickup in 2007. I am going back to Ford. Chrysler was no angel either with our money. We should have let them both go under.

Prayers for all in need.

Have a Great Day!

Aloha. Grey and rainy again, though fortunately, dodged it on the walk to work from the train station. Ran Ivor last night for quite a while. I got an idea from Lionel's blog about creating some farm fields around a lake scene I want to put together. Basically, you can tear apart a piece of thick cardboard and use the 'ridges' in it for the tilled lines, and with glue and lichen fill in the vegetation. I'm on the hunt for the proper cardboard.

Good Morning all!

Rain here ... not sure temp

Been at work since 3:30 am. Starting to see double. Of course knowing I had to come in super early I could not get to sleep. I believe it was after midnight by the time I finally went out.

All this talk of grits ... I'm actually wanting some. Maybe this weekend.

Worked on taxes last night - what headache.

That's all for now from the thumb of Michigan.
