Good morning all,

It is mild in SE Indiana with a threat of rain.  I hate it when other people do not do their job and keep me from doing mine.  Worked on federal taxes last night.  Got them done.  Have to do state tonight.  Hate it when you HAVE to fill out a form that has ZERO impact on how much you pay or get back.  Go figure.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

I got the replacement unit for the 218 today and it is " like I thought" a 1957 204 in a bad 218 shell. It did not run but I found it had a bad wire going into the E-unit that I fixed and it is now at about the 2 hour mark of running laps in both directions. I think it will be fine. The problem is I think a 1957 204 would be a better unit than a 218 with a 1957 motor,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I have had it running for over 3 hours so far and it seems to be golden. Oh what to do??????????????

No Problem Chief,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I just had to call you out. Laugh

JimmyT why oh why did you have to say that??? It quit running in reverse right after your post. Bang Head back to the drawing board. Tongue Tied

Cloudy and cooler on the North Bluff today.

Got to go vote. Then back at the 204.

Worked most of the day for the Town.  Excuse me Kev, session [spell check did it].

Now Yanks, keep on talking about grits.  I will get even.

Did get the Town a library that County staff did not want me to have.  They did not tell be of the agenda item about Rolesville Library and were recommending not to do.  They did not want me at the meeting.  All the County Commissioners were on my side.  Most before I gave my presentation.  Afterward. Thumbs Up

Now this hits both sides.  Think I will buy Ford if I buy what we call American.  http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=Lvl5Gan69Wo

Man, I am wiped out! It's been a busy day. My fridge conked out this morning so I had to get a new one. It's a Haier frost-free refrigerator/freezer. Finally got it in place and operating around 6pm. I put my food from the old one in my nieces fridge while this new one gets cold. I had put everything up in the freezer of the old one so it could at least stay cool. It was still cooling a little. I'm gonna let the new one run for at least twelve hours before I put anything in it. I may be crazy but I ain't stupid. The price on it was good. $359. As usual lately my father paid for it. I don't know what he's expecting in return. He helped my nephew get it into the trailer. That was a sight to see. There's not much room in here at the best of times and with the two of them in here it was pretty tight until they pushed it into position. I'm guessing the power outage yesterday zapped the old one. There was a rapid series of spikes just before the power died. Fridge compressors don't like that. It fried one of my surge protectors too.

Well enough about that. I got the front couplers on four of my FP7's changed out earlier. The primer gray, Rock Island, BN and ex-PRR each have a Kadee 147 in the pilot and they're spot on according to the height gauge. I have two more in the display rack that need to be done, both UP (one is ex-UP). Well that's all for now.

Time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

Jack at least wallpaper paste won't grind your teeth away. And it probably taste better even without adding sugar or butter. No big news today, nothing exciting coming into the train store. I'm about half way through CTT. Had my banilla with chocolate syrup and peanuts so now I am ready for the Tardis chat...S.J.

I'm sitting here trying to think of one good reason to eat grits but I can't come up with anything. OK I waited long enough, the screen timed out.

S.J.

SJ.......I am certain that if we consult some masochists that they will have a reason to eat grits.  Not a good reason, but a reason.  What I get a kick out of are the guys on the POT who try to rationalize eating them by going on to say they are not bad if......  One could make the same argument for wallpaper paste.Laugh

RT and Ryan.......THAT was too close for comfort, for both of you. Surprise

Jack

Yeah it was Jack

SJ I did come up with a kinda of a reason but its not really eating them persay its put a mouthfull in your mouth to make small patches for the railroad you know where your building a mountain or sidewalk or something like that but then you would have to go to PA. dutch area and get some scrapple to get the taste of the grits out of your mouth and besides Scrapple on potatoes and with eggs is great.

Yes Ryan I grew up in that area. I grew up just outside of Lancaster actually in a town called West Chester and my parents moved up to Lititz when they retired.

Well time to go get some help sleeping pills and other meds and see how I do tonight. Talk to you all later hope you all have a good week.

Good evening. Apparently I had a hot spot blister on my right hand because after gym, I noticed a flap of skin (like a small cut kind of flap) on my right hand. Figured it was from the yard work. Prayers for those who need them.

RT, watching your neighbors house on fire is scary stuff. it almost like its yours.   theres nothing you can say or do....

then tonight while your sleeping every little crack and creek will have you out of bed on edge.    I've been there.    we weren't home when our neighbors house went up, and the fire police had the road blocked  2 miles from the house.  Well our house number is 590, and the FP could only tell me it was 590 something. I gave that man 3 options that night.

1- get on the radio and find out the EXACT address

2- let me through

3- i will get out of this truck, and you will wish you had "just" let me through.

need less to say we were let through, but tractor trailers had the mountain backed up, and I had to run the other mile to see where it was.....    I have never been so scared in my life.

I was in tears by the time I got to the lane, i still to this day don't know if they were for the fact it wasn't my house, or for the neighbors....

anyway, enough of that

Rich needed you today. Man it was scary neighbors house ( well 2 houses down) caught fire faulty oven. They just had it repaired supposedly . Hmmm anyway that house is only like 50 - 60 feet from ares with a house in the middle these houses are only about 15 - 20 feet apart.

that was about 11:30am after that got all cleared about 2 another neighbor has an ambulance for transportation I believe no sirens wife was whacked out after all that ( she gets real emotional around things like that)

Well got the rest of the train table bench work done today now just need to add the last of the plywood to it and cover it with the green carpet. still need to get a section about 4' wide.

Been a very busy and eventful day.

Jack,    When cooking GRITS, mix in a quart of crushed blueberries. It comes out fantastic.  Prettiest spackling compound I ever used.

Chuck

Chuck,

Who wants to waste good blueberries like that?Wink  Personally, I think every box of grits should include a coupon for a free pair of running shoes.Smile, Wink & Grin

Jack,

Do you want me to post some pictures to Pam's page?  Might help the 736/ 2343 issue.Smile

Been busy.  Clayed and put a coat of cleaner wax on the Mustang last night, and I'll follow with another wax later.  Interview at 11.  Stirring the Probe pot in my spare time.Laugh

CHUCK........that sure is going to save me a lot of $$$ when I repave the driveway.  They can't give grits away at the grocery stores up here in the Northeast and have shipped them over to the home improvement stores like Home Depot and Lowes.  Grits are currently being marketed at discount prices as a superior asphalt and concrete replacement. Laugh

JimmyT......thank you for thinking of me re the 726 (with Baldwin drivers) and the 2343.  While I appreciate all of your help, suggesting you and RT post pictures of these Lionel engines on my wife's Facebook page in order to encourage her to buy them for me, the consequences to me might be lethal. SurpriseLaugh

I got my Kadee couplers today. Two packs of 147's and three packs of 119's. Now I can put the right type of coupler on the front of my FP7's. A 148 center shank is too low. The 147 has an underset shank so the coupler head is higher.

Good morning all,

V8 Dennis, hope you are feeling better today.

Hudson, thanks for the kind words.  Making time for others is one of the better things I do in spite of myself.

Jack, The Chief may have a few faults but good spelling is not one of them.

Had a surprise rain shower this morning.  Not even forcast but we'll take it.

Looked at new progress report on the light rail extension they are building toward where I live from Pasadena, Ca.  Suppose to be done by 2015.  Hope I live long enough to ride it.  It will come as far as the next town just West of us.  The section through our town is not even funded yet so not holding my breath on that one.

Saw where the Iron Lady from Britain passed away.  R.I.P. Mrs. Thatcher.

I never thought grits was such a sore subject.  Come on you guys, man up and eat your grits.  I'll tell you my secret.  I eat cream of rice once in a while which looks like grits to me but don't tell the Chief.  Dr. recommended it when I had stomach trouble.  I did eat a lot of grits growing up though.

Went out to eat last night with family and friend.  Had Bar-B-Que chicken dinner.  Was pretty good but restaurant tried to nickle and dime customers for every little thing.  Everything was extra.  I think it would be better even if they had to charge a couple of bucks more to include soup or salad with a meal.  Most places do.  We have a family restaurant in our neighborhood which we go to a lot that includes all the extras with the meal and has large portions even if you don't need it.  I call that place "The home of the wide load".  You can tell by looking at the customers.  Another place is a chain outfit.  Interesting food but they have gotten too fancy and pricey.  Guess the recession must be over because they cancelled all their bargain deals.

later,

Ray

Brent: After reading that list of things to do, How Long Are Your Weekends?

Well they don't appear to be long enough! Smile

Friday night I got the washer pump replaced, and the oil change done on the Murano. 1 hour for all of the work. Got up Saturday morning and sanded the wall and ceiling. Then vacuumed the mess. Then moved the furniture, got the spackling around the skylight done and then moved on to the back wall. Got a coat on that where needed. Done by 10:30. Then it was off to run ehrands. Sunday TheQ was under the weather so it was me and the kiddos. I did manage to get the wall sanded and a second coat of spackle on, then I tried to do the skylight - found that Christina knows how to climb ladders - that project ended pretty quick as I did not want to venture to the ER.

Woke this AM feeling like I was squeezed through a 100ft 1 inch hose. Still not feeling well and if not better by noon I think I'm going to call it a day.

On the way in this AM I witnessed an accident at MD 32N @ Linden Church Road. This intersection is HORRIBLE, they are replacing it with an overpass/interchange, but not soon enough. Luckily no one was seriously injured. BTW - if you witness an accident PLEASE STAY AT THE SCENE, it can be very helpful to law enforcement to sort out what happened AND please make sure everyone is OK.

Brent after reading all you did this weekend I think I am going to take a nap. Zzz Smile

Take care of yourself.

The temp is 54 and we are expecting rain at some point today.

I'm running late this morning had some errands to take care of. I always use Grits to fill potholes on our street. Not sure the neighbors would like blueberry color though. No big chores for the day so Chuck and I will just enjoy our naps...S.J.

Good morning. It's 66° with 94% humidity. It will be cloudy with a high of 80°.

I'll probably clean up part of the layout today but will relax the rest of the day. My sinuses are still making themselves well known.
