Hello all,

Quick post this AM. We weathered Sandy pretty well.

Angel for those still in need.

Without power for about an hour at the height of it.Daughter is still without power at her house. They have a portable generator for the necessities and heat with wood. The wind loosened  some tin on the barn and the crops seem soggy but OK. Overall I am relieved by the little damage we had.

New granddaughter is a bundle of joy

Back later,

Prayers for those in need

BOO y'all!

Mornin' boys.  Mornin' English.  Clearing and 43 (Petty fan here) in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Yatchet was fine.  Just the bimini came off one track.  I think our area did better than most because the doracho we had this summer had already knocked down a lot of stuff already.  A lot of hurt in Jersey though...

Good Morning

Howdy guys - no storms in MO.  Sure saw a lot of scary stuff on the news, prayers for you all!  Nothing much going on here, just taking it easy.  We have a guy coming tomorrow to replace the spring on the garage door - found out what the sounds was when I closed the garage this morning!  That's a job I will gladly pay someone else to do, lol!  Mike, I think we're all ready for a nice ride tonight - give us a chance to pick up some in need and get them a hot shower and some of Chief's coffee.  Let's go!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Made it through Sandy ok without any damage.Only very minor damage at work. About 10 percent of RI is in the dark.Never lost our power though.Lots of leaves and sticks to pick up.Ever wonder why the leaves can stay in your yard with winds we had?

Pat try what ever your code is then I hope this lets me do this lol if not you need to put [ the letters "img" then ] then do it at the end but put / befor your img

Hope you understand that

Evening all Wondering about dj and family hope all is fine for them today I rememebr there was some concern about treatment for Tyler. Hope he didn't post and I missed it

Well on a lighter side the wife wasn't ammused when I came running up the steps from the den say MAYDAY MAYDAY I need more trains cars I ran out of train cars but have plenty of engines and track yet to use. Laugh

Put 2 more shelves up but on the second shelf I ran out of cars only had like 3 cars with the engine still have room for like 2 or 3 more and the worst part is I still have wood for 3 more shelves and have engines waiting to go on them may do 1 more shelf tomorrow and just put engines on that. I could do a shelf of just GP-9's I have like 7 of them counting the one coming in. I have one shelf that has 3 at the moment and like 4 or 5 cars so could move the cars over to the 1/2 shelf and put just GP-9's on that now there's an idea

Mix of weather here today.  Sun in the morning, and rain tonight.

Hope youse guys in the northeast made it through the worst of the storm.  Not quite done yet, as it will make a mess as it runs out to the north.

Jeffery - the grain elevator is looking pretty good.

Chief - I saw the president commenting on the storm at the Red Cross headquarters in D.C.  He said that if the govenors and mayors were running into trouble getting emergency help in place, they could call him personaly.  Here is your chance!

All for now.

The grain elevator is nowhere near ready to set up but I wanted to see how the main pieces would look together. So I set them up on the only clear place on the layout at this point, the park. I haven't added any details as there's still plenty of work to be done on the silos and the main structure. It fairly crude at this point.

I hope that the chimney sweep guy who was supposed to be here at 2PM for my flu cleaning and mortar (condition) checkup is OK.  Probably got behind due to the weather.  No call.  If this is the worst inconvenience from Sandy I have experienced other than some yard cleanup, I am blessed. Thumbs Up

John..... that's wonderful news on Jean. Thumbs Up  Now that she is becoming (dangerously) mobile, you may want to hide the cane.Laugh

RaySP......the NYC residents and the commuters sure are in a real box until they can get all of the water pumped out of the subway tunnels and the electric squared away.  I commuted by commuter rail and subway for about 7 years, and it was hard enough when everything was working well.  Surface transportation in NYC to pick up the slack ain't gonna work too well.  It was gridlock before the storm.  What a mess.

Good afternoon all,

It is windy and wet in SE Indiana but nothing like what is east of us.  Busy day at work.  Will set up Halloween train tonight for trick or treaters tomorrow.  I hope some show up as the weather is not promising then either.  Continued thoughts and prayers to all affected by the storm.  TBIL and I can drive tonight.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good afternoon,

Al well here so far from Sandy.  No basement water like we had from Lee last fall.  Power, TV and phone stayed on and no wind damage.  Feel really blessed.

Jean is doing well, now walking without even a cane.  Will be doing rehab for another week and a half.  Then be evaluate and may do another two weeks or be released.  I am amazed at her progress.

I was also thinking of all the damage in the subway systems.  Might take quite a while to get them all back in service.

Sorry to hear about the Bounty being lost at sea.  Did it actually sink or is she still afloat?  Hope they can save her.

Good morning all,

Hope all are OK from Sandy.  Burned out on TV coverage but grateful we didn't  have to deal with anything like that here.  One of the worst things I can imagine was the subway and auto tunnels flooding.  Salt water will play heck with all that electrical stuff in the subway.

We are only one day away from the eve of all hallows.  Next door neighbor has a lot of spooky things on display at his house.  See a lot more when I'm out walking too.  Hope I bought enough candy and the kids get it all.  Otherwise, I will wind up eating it which is not good for me.

I have a sister in Connecticut and another one who is visiting her.  Have not heard from them yet so I will try and get in touch today.

Our big train show (Cal Stewart) is scheduled for this coming weekend near the Ontario, California airport at the convention center there.  This is the closest thing we get to York but really not that close.  Looks like a good turnout is expected with all hotel rooms sold out but a few available in overflow hotels nearby.

Sorry to hear about the Bounty being lost at sea.  Did it actually sink or is she still afloat?  Hope they can save her.

Hope little Tyler is getting medical help by now.

Prayers for those with issues from Sandy,

Ray

Jack,

Are you near Danvers, MA?  A friend of mine moved up there earlier this summer.

YUP!!!!  Danvers abuts Beverly, mostly to my West/Southwest.  It is about 3 miles from me.  Most of Danvers is off the ocean.  But a very narrow strip of it (and the Danvers river) extends almost to the Beverly/Salem harbor, running between Peabody and Salem Ma. to the South and Beverly to the North.

Hello all

Another quiet morning collecting photons. Boss is up here installing the optical pointing camera finally. Hopefully when it's finished we will be able to tighten up the pointing of this beast a bit more.

Was looking at the results of Sandy. Quite a mess. And even more fun w/ all the people that, as always, didn't heed the warnings. Hope John is doing ok in NJ. At lot of folks are w/o power, so that must be keeping him busy. Must feel like a one-legged man in a butt kicking contest.

Thoughts and prayers to the families of those who lives were lost in the storm.

RIJack - good to hear you are doing ok up there. Think I would have let the dog out the door on a long leash, though.

DougM- yes, the Norge is a cardstock model. I have a couple more I need to put together. I got the Norge plan from a place on the web called Fiddlers Green. Neat site and lots of models, mostly aircraft. You can download the plans and then print them on cardstock. The other two are kits that I got in the mail. The L59 is from Poland and the Schwaben is from Germany. There are two sizes of the Norge. So far I built the smaller one (~18"). You should try one and hang it up w/ the Graf over the layout!

Got a bit more work done on the Eico 221 last night, but forgot to bring a new power cord. I may try and fire it up w/ the test cord today if I finish up the rest of the work.

Not sure if I will go home tonight or in the morning. Prob in the morning. If I drive home @ night, I pretty much just get home to sleep (if the bed isn't full of plaster dust that is). I do tend to sleep better @ 2200' rather than 10,500' though. I have some parts I want to clean though in the big solvent tank we have so I may just stay and work on that. I'm trying not to put any dirty car parts in storage. And these parts need to go back on the car in the next month or so if I want to have heat (such as it is in an air-cooled vehicle).

Checked on Brent (so did Chief).  All is well there.

Thanks for the update Fife, glad you guys are fine as well as RIJack.

Nothing to talk about here. 38 degrees and cloudy.

Lots of talking heads on the tube and I can never get over the idiots that put themselves and others in harms way. Dunce

Looks like a lot of cleanup on the horizon for a lot of people.

Prayers for all of them. Angel

fife, those weather idiots should get locked up for their own good. One day, one storm, and someones going to get killed by a flying metal sign or something.

It's 39, wet from over night rain and Very Windy. Some scattered power outages but not a major breakdown. I was one of the lucky ones that slept through most of it, just woke up to P....S.J.

Aloha. Grey and a tad blustery here today. 8n, it's not too bad at ORD. With all the flights to and from the east coast cancelled, it's been kind of quiet. The wind is making some spectacular waves along the lake front but nothing too bad yet.  Brutus, I love that James May show. In other episodes, he built a full-size Airfix plastic model of a Spitfire and a full-size house of Legos.  SmBob, love that model of Norge - first airship to reach the North Pole!  Is it paper and cardstock?  My sister and her family in Brooklyn are OK - still have power and water didn't quite reach them. My mom in CT is out of power. Can you believe she hadn't heard anything about the storm until yesterday?!

Good morning. It's 35° with 100% humidity. Weather guesser doesn't say it but it's foggy here. It'll be mostly sunny with a high of 72°.

Yesterdays rest did me a lot of good. Leg still hurts but it's down to a somewhat intense throbbing pain, not the sharp stabbing pain it was yesterday. Today will be more rest and watching more movies. I keep the DVR stocked with plenty and delete them after I watch them to make room for more.

The layout is still a mess. Never got to it yesterday. Maybe today.

Good morning.  47 degrees and clear down here in Florida.  Our folks in New York City were hard hit last night. A lot of power problems. Roads in and around the Bronx are flooded. Please keep all those in the Northeast in your thoughts today as they recover.
