Chuck, could not find your E mail address in your profile.

Anyway, The dealer claims to have already checked for bubbles in the power steering fluid.  Also wheels were aligned and checked again after that.  They also checked the camber etc.  I just have to stay after the dealer until this is resolved.  I have too much money invested in it to give it to someone else.  P.S. tire pressure was checked and rechecked.  All I know is that when I brought the car in, the steering was fine. Now it isn't.

Dwiener, God bless your new additions to the family and have a safe trip home.

Jeffrey, good luck on the storm surge.

Brutus and Char, congratulations on the anniversary.  Hope things brighten up a little for you.

Jack, that new wall is built like Fort Knox.  I think the house will fall down before that does.  The neighbor is into overkill on building things.

Pat, I don't have a generator but neighbor, retired fireman, lets me plug our refrigerator into his when power fails.  More important, I could tap in to it during a rain storm to keep sump pump running and keep water from getting in the garage/train room.  I have only been flooded once since I got the pump and that was during a power failure.

later,

Ray

Good afternoon all,

Read the thread by Penny Trains on the page 64 article yesterday and looked at the article last night.  Wow!  A most impressive collection is dsiplayed there.  Reminds me of the early days of CTT.  There were some awesome creations made in the early days of toy trains.  Fall soccer season starts for me tonight.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Jeffrey, good luck on the storm surge.

Storm surge I'm not too worried about. We're 100 some odd miles from the gulf if you're going straight south. Elevation here is about 250 feet. The storm will have to move over 200 miles to get here from a landfall around New Orleans. My approximate location is 31°08′37″N 93°16′16″W. Drop that into a search engine and it'll come up with Leesville. That's the nearest city. I'm somewhere between thirty and forty feet above lake level so flood waters would have to come up really high to get to my place. By then the local dam would be long gone and flooding here would no long be an issue. There would be a big empty hole where the lake was. Now the towns downstream? They would have a BIG problem if that happened.

Help !

About going blind from searching the net for a Transylvania Trolley, 6-28441, with no luck. Any of you guys recall seeing one at any of your visits to your LHS ? Late Sept we will be replacing the Carnival scene on the club layout with our Halloween scene.

Wife and I just got done with a long Gator ride around the place remembering the 1990 Tornado that tore though Plainfield 22 years ago today. There where 29 who where taken by it and one best friend and another guy I knew. We were Lucky to have only lost our house and every other house on our street.

Good afternoon, feels like 120 here but it's at least 100 I think.

Good news!  Got my denture back this afternoon so I'm all smiles again.  This case is closed starting with the root canal and ending with a crown and new work on partial.  My wallet is a little lighter too.

Saw a little of the roll call at the GOP convention on TV today with Romney being the big winner.  Surprise, surprise?  The rest of it will be anti climax unless Christi is entertaining with his speach.  I remember when those conventions used to be a big deal.  Now the talking heads just talk over them and use them for background noise.  We had a mock convention when I was in high school civics class.  We nominated Dwight D. Eisenhower for President.  In those days, everybody liked Ike.  He was a real war hero and the first Republican president since Herbert Hoover.  The real convention, confirmed our choice later that year.

Ray

Ohayō,

Wow!  I had many Pot pages to read through.  I did not log in at all while I was in Virginia last week.  I attempted to post once while I was airborne from Seattle to DC but I see my post didn’t go through.  The new forum software does not work any better on my iPad than it does on my computer.  I suppose I will get used to it, and one cannot complain when it’s a free service.  Now that I’m back in Japan I’ll be checking in daily again.  I see there were some good news reports on some health issues while I was gone and that is great.  I’ll be praying for all those in need.

You'd be surprised (well maybe not) at how many screamed, complained and threw tantrums over the changes. You'd think they were paying for the service. I've gotten used to the new format quickly enough though I wish they'd change some of the colors. It's murder on my eyes.

Been busy today. Had to go to the bank to fix some account problems. A site I decided to do business with (no names on a public forum) decided I should do business with some other companies without my authorization and ran my account $51 into the red. Since all they had was a debit card number I got a new debit card with a new number. That'll fix their wagon! The bank is taking steps to see that the money is refunded. In the meantime I had to go get a loan refinanced so I could get money to fix the account. Since I have some extra $$$ I ordered the windshield wiper motor ($55) for my van. I go to pick it up tomorrow. Looks like need to get a caliper for the left front also. The old one is locking open and then it's locking closed. Another $15.

Joe,

Think again, The Forum is not a FREE service. Those of us who are subscribers are paying for anything on this site. If we unsubscribe it will all go away. Those who don't subscribe are getting something for nothing. That is why I subscribe.

Jeffery,

Never do any business on line with a debit card. There is no protection on them like with a credit card.

I think they are worthless. I will charge on credit and pay in full every month and be protected and not be charged anything to do it.

Doing web business with a debit card is like living below sea level and complaining that you get flooded and want the rest of us to bail them out like a lot of them in your state. JMHO.  Good thing your on high ground. Laugh

This is a debit/credit card issued by my bank and carries much of the same protection provided by a credit card. Refunds are already on the way.

It's 70 and got dark before 9 pm. Tis true everybody that buys a Kalmbach product  and the advertiser's pay for this site. We had a nice day, grocery shopping this morning and grass cutting this afternoon. I did not trim it though. Later. Banilla is ready and I shall wait for the thingy...S.J.

This is a debit/credit card issued by my bank and carries much of the same protection provided by a credit card. Refunds are already on the way.

I see no sense in carrying a credit card(s) when a debit card will accomplish the same thing, except where one uses the CC for business and wants/needs to keep expenditures separate.

I don't have to pay the CC bill.  I can see the transactions posted (online banking) very quickly, sometimes within minutes, after having used the DC.  I receive fraud alerts both by phone and email, instantly.

And mine is like Jeffrey's DC.....the bank "pends" suspicious transactions, at their observation or mine, and then reverses them if the purchase is not mine.  If needed, I can transfer balances by smart phone to cover an unexpected large purchase.  I can set up cash withdrawal (and purchase amount) parameters to limit my exposure.  And I have the option of setting up overdraft protection.

The on-line history is archived, and I can review past months' activities with a few keystrokes, print them out as required..  And I can choose to go paperless versus receive monthly statements. With few exceptions, I use paper checks for tax (deductible) items only.

BTW........I have MetLife auto and home (insurance) and receive a 17% discount for paying by direct debit!  Why?  Don't ask me.  That's nearly a $300 savings per year on the auto policy alone.

So I have to disagree, KEV.  Been operating this way for about six years without having been burned for a single penny Thumbs Up, even though the wife is quite the internet shopper.Bang Head.  Each to his own.

Konbanwa,

The workday flew by today.  My wife made chicken fajitas for dinner this evening.  It’s pretty early but I am going to bed soon.  I am not fully adjusted to the time difference yet.

Kev – I understand your point about the forum, but since it’s not an additional cost I’d say it’s free.  I pay the regular subscription amount for my CTT issues and the subscription price would be the same whether I logged on to the forum or not.  If CTT decided to not have the forum anymore, I would still subscribe to the magazine and I’m sure the price would be the same.  BTW - Your road came out great.

I hope you all have a great day and I hope the hurricane isn’t causing too many problems out there.

Joe
