RI Jack - I really felt, at the time, the team lost too much bravado when they lost Papelbon. That was the beginning of the end. And then when they hired Valentine, I knew they would fall apart.

Good Afternoon, Guys!

Breezy today up to 81.  It's been a long week, but this week is shorter by 1 day.....

Friday I went to New Hope, PA as a guest of the Trenton Titans hockey club.  Salad, wings and pasta along with soda.  Fireworks over the Delaware River.  Saw a few people I knew, I was on the Harley and it was all good.

MoPars at Englishtown today, and due to lack of funds, I'm not going.  And that sucks.Grumpy.

The bright side is I get paid Friday and I'll be in Dover for my first (in 11 years) full North East Hemi Owners meet.  I'll leave Friday and get back on Monday.  The Road Runner isn't going, but I'll take the Neon because the gas mileage is better.

Had the Wagon out last night and made a run to White Castle (used the change I found in the rental cars for food money...Laugh) 8 sliders, order of 'rings and a coke....$8.  Yup I was full.

More employment opportunities this week, so we shall see.

Gas up to $3.49 and near $4 in other places near by.

Angel for those in need include Hudson's & Jeff's Moms.....

KRM - Nice SaveThumbs Up

And yes, back in the '90's there were vehicles with NO trans dipsticks.....Acura and Isuzu were among the very first.  This is an attempt to keep those vehicles in the dealership for repairs....look up OBD III...this is so that the technology stays corporate for a minimum of 3 years before going aftermarket...also known as the "sealed hood", so no one BUT the dealer can work on 'em.  Including the owners of said vehicle.

CakeHappy B-Day to Mrs. Chief and Christina...

Tomorrow after work, I'm off to Waterfront Park in Trenton for another Trenton Titans night, all you can eat buffet and Trenton Thunder baseball game (a NY Yankee Farm team).  Mom & Dad have tickets, so the bike will be easier to park.

that's all from Exit 8, I'll need to gas up the Harley for this week and maybe work on the roadrunner.

See ya soon!

Buckeye,

What part of the city will you be in?  There's Brady's in Greensburg, Toby Tyler's in West Mifflin, The Silver Mine in Washington, and the Iron Horse in Bridgeville just to name a few.  Brady's would be my first choice though.

Brent might be able to give you more since he used to live in the area.  I am SW of Pittsburgh, so what I isted are just some of what I've found.

Might have found Probe #3.Surprise  It's a 90 GT in the same EP Bright Red.

Home again.  Got grass mowed this afternoon at lake house.  Sun finally came out around noon.  Misted rain all day and into the night up there. Bang Head  Had plenty of rest.

Off early tomorrow morning for Morehead City with Frankie.  He is buying 19' Carolina Skift center console with all the electronics and big 4 cycle motor.  Wants Dad along to apporove the purchase.

We got some much needed rain this weekend.  Hot & humid, though.  I think we can put up with it 'cause this is the first real rain we've had in something like 70 days.

Did a bit of clean up in the basement, and got a coat of primer on the room that is getting the plaster patch and paint treatment.  My wife and I blew off yesterday afternoon by going to see the latest Borne movie, and this afternoon by going to see the latest Batman movie.  Both are pretty neat movies.

Thanks for the cemetery source suggestions, guys.  It will help.

All for now.

Evenin' All.

Kind of a lazy day today, only changed a TT on one of my Docksiders. It had a blowout when the munchkin was running them on friday, he wanted to check out the RoadRunner & Coyote Ambush Shack we installed earlier in the day.

Barely noticed the shaker today but was surprised by the magnitude and frequency. Hopefully no major damge or injuries out in Brawley where they occurred.

Yesterday must have been a bad day for SUV's here. On the way in to the museum there was one that went off the road and was upside down on an embankment, 2 firetrucks 2 CHP cars and an ambulabe on scene. Then on the way home from the museum there was another SUV on it's side in the carpool lane up against the K-Rail.

Hi GUYZ,

69 here and took my MINNIE for a walk to the river.  Whilst at the river we saw 2 mature bald eagles on top of a rock about 50 yrds off shore.  What a site.  I told everyone I saw down there all 3 people and they went to check em out.  Really makes your day.  I just got done with breakfast now go for run and then do a lift. TODAY is my FIRST OFFICIAL DAY of RETIREMENT!!!!  Kido s first day o school.

AF53, RAY, as I always say about baseball.  You win some, you loose some, some get rained out, but ya gotta dress for em all.  It's a long season, as for me and CHUCK and JACK, its 'wait until next year.

JEFFERY, batten down the hatches.

Stay frosty,

Aloha!  My kids back to school today: 2 in university, the youngest in 4th grade. The rest of the city begins next week. Some have been in school for 2 weeks already. Had a nice if quiet weekend - powerwashed the deck...

Rich, thanks for the explanation about the 'sealed' trannys. It is so so hard to work on any newer cars.

Laz, when the Loki is in its working season, does it always have a fire? I mean, is it banked at night and built up during its working day or does it cycle down to cold, then built up from scratch?

Jack and Ray, I am enjoying this baseball season, although yesterday's/night game sure was long. The White Sox were supposed to be bottom-dwellers rather than winners. My son the Red Sox fan is in shock over the big trade.

Buckeye, like Chief says, it is still hard to get to the forum on a smartphone. There's a lot of junk code to load... but it works better than before.

 JEFFERY, batten down the hatches.

Good idea Jeffery.

Well Chicago got flooded yesterday and we only got 1.1" but that was sure better than nothing. Still no water moving in the ditches or ravines.

BOC good luck with the results today.

Guess I will get the tractor out and grade the lane.

Good morning. It's 79° with 85% humidity. A tropical storm watch is in effect. The chance for rain today is small. It'll be partly cloudy and the high will be 95° but will feel like 102°.

Nothing much going on today. I think I'll do some catching up on my movie watching. The bones in my right leg are letting me know they're unhappy and it hurts just to stand. This morning I'm watching my three GP9F's slowly pull a string of twenty-one cars around the layout.

Got everything ready for any wind and rain from Issac. I'm in west central Louisiana, a long way from New Orleans but you never know exactly what a storm is going to do.

It's 72, stuffy with lite rain. The soaker is just south of us. No grass cutting this morning. Granny fixed a big breakfast, more than I really wanted but she will be canning so I'm stayin out of there. Grump, sliders and coneys are hard to beat when you get that craving. But you do have to be in the mood for them.Big Smile..And so starts the last few days of August...S.J.

Good morning all,

Some much needed rain is falling in SE Indiana.  Continued frustration in sports as Conway ws 14th for AJ and Newgarden got punted heavily into a tire barrier.  Swept the floors extra well yesterday and communicated with my fall team as well.  Went thru 3 more photo albums last night.  Job gets easier when no one wants to help you.  You get to decide which pages you want and those with multiple family members stay with me.  Long week ahead, but at least I get to play soccer tomorrow.  TBIL and I can drive.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good Mornin' Y'all From Crystal Clear Cape Ann,

Hate to bother everyone with this.  Is anyone having an earlier-than-normal (this Summer season) dropoff of flowering with your annual flowers?  The impatiens and portulaca here are thriving, are flowering like crazy, while our petunias have totally stopped flowering suddenly.

The petunia plants are robust-looking, green, and firm.  But the budding for new blooms has fallen off the table.  Ususally we get flowers on our petunias well into October.  They get a lot of sun, and in the past have always done well in the large deck pots (with drain holes).  I have kept up with the watering when Mother Nature has been AWOL as well as the fertilizing every 1.5 weeks or so.

I gave them another shot of Miracle Grow two days ago and am hoping for the best.  But it looks like we won't have them in full bloom on the deck for the Labor Day goings on here. Bang Head

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Jack

PS:  No, the dog has not been fertilizing them. Smile, Wink & Grin

Jeffery here is a long haul from back in Feb. 25 cars, pretty good for O gauge on a 16'x12' table with a 34" curve mixed in.

Do you know why all of the videos I shoot when posted on You-tube show the trains moving so fast even tho they are going slow when shot??

DOUG M,  The LOKIE is dampened off at nite, put about 3 inches of silt on top o coals, then make sure crown plate is totally full of water.  Let cool off over nite.  Next morning still has about 30 PSIs and you scrape off dampener and still have hot coals.  Pull out any clinkers, solidify clumps of boney coal.  Boney is col that has some slate in it, and it clumps up it won't burn and ruins your fire so you gotta get that out.  Spread hot coals across grate add wood, let wood catch fire then add more coal.  Usually the pressure climbs very fast to 90 psi in about 45 minutes.  We get it outa the barn so it doesn't pop off.  It pops off at 110psi so we gotta move on it otherwise we have alot of steam in the barn and you can't see then.

JACK,  my petunias are real good this year very nice blooms and are just loving this summer.  My marigolds are getting thicker then they have ever been and the gladiolas are getting more blooms then normal.

Good morning all,

We had a quiet Sunday yesterday with our son out of town.  Went to church and learned that the pastor's mother had passed away about a week ago.  It was in the Sunday bulletin but was too late to get in last Sunday.  I was told that an announcement was made but with my poor hearing I probably missed it.  I would have attended the funeral had I been aware.  Guess I better get my hearing checked out one of these days after I solve my car and dental problems.

Went to dentist this morning for another impression and sending out my partial ---again for work.  Hope to have it back late today or tomorrow.

Went to TCA Western train meet on Saturday.  Pretty good turnout and things for sale on tables.  Display layout featured some of that strange track that is segmented so you can make any curve etc.  Don't know if they make that anymore.  When I drove the car to the meet about 10 miles by freeway and at speeds 65-80, I could tell the steering is still not good.  You have to keep both hands on the wheel and make constant corrections.  There is very little play in the wheel and I was tired of driving just after 10 miles.  Yay hoos at Honda tried to tell me it was normal.

Jack, don't know about flowers but I have a camillia bush that seems to be dying for some reason.  I have watered it but it doesn't help.  One side is still alive but the other side is drying up. The gardener trimmed it a while back and it has not done well since then.

Hot weather is returning again this week with high's near 100.

later,

Ray

Seems that the leaves are falling early here in Central New Jersey.

Rain here now, off and on so far.  Mom was right, so I left the Harley in the garage.
