Hi Guys.

Today I am 60 years old. Wow that is even old to me. Thanks for all of the Happy birthdays guys. Smile

We had a GREAT time yesterday all of the kids and grandkids came out for the day. Fun for all and especially me.

The son gave the oldest granddaughter (12) some shooting lessons with the 22 and 9mm pistols and she did very well.

I got a new gun cleaning kit from Katie and Dan that I needed. I had a long talk with Dan about his work, I think he will be fine but there was some lessons learned for sure. He will know tomorrow for sure.

Dan and I added and re-did the gravel around the wood shed. It needed it and looks a lot better now.

You all have a great day.

DougM give that old dog Rudy a pat on the head for me. It looks like the Threshing show was a good time. Yes

Prayers for Brutus’s MOM, Charlie’s DAD, Jeffery’s MOM, and BOC results and anyone I missed.  Angel

SP-Ray:  I would have them check the steering shaft bearings in the steering column.  That seems like the only place they HAVEN'T checked.  If they monkeyed with the steering column at all (especially if they replaced the rack), it could be that or the steering shaft to rack union (U-Joint).  Some of these knuckle head techs are too smart for their own good sometimes....Bang Head

Humidity is down and it's not bad right now.  going to mid 80's.  Sunny.

HudsonJohn - Can't make it as I'm having a financial crisis (again) though I wish I could go...have a good time!

I'll be off to the other side of town to install the master cylinder.  I have to pick up the wagon so I can transfer the wheels and tires over.  I need to see if the tires on the roadrunner are square or not.  Film crew damaged the hood grille and hood moulding, so I need to get the estimate for repairs.  I may part it out afterwards.  we will see...

Have a good day guys!!

Anjdevil and Jeffrey,

The problem with the Honda dealer about checking anything is that they are in total denial that anything is wrong.  They did reluctantly check everything that they could without dimantling anything.  They had the chief mechanic in the service department and a couple of managers drive the car.  They all said nothing is wrong with it.  They must think I am a total fool to believe that.  I drove the car for 16 years before this came up and now they seem to think that I can't tell the difference.  They only drove it around the block or in the parking lot.  I noticed it before I even got out of their driveway.  I am going to drive it for a while and if it doesn't loosen up I will have to take a new course of action.

Jeffrey, you might have hit on the problem.  Maybe it is a defective rack they put on.  It is a factory part though which is under warranty.  However it gets pretty sticky to get them to tear it apart again and what if they find out the part is OK?  Then who pays for the work.  If the car didn't have such low milage, I would dump it.

Church today and more hot weather.  Swimming pool is like bath water.

later,

Ray

Printed some simple decals for the slug this morning. They're not good qualiy, in fact they're right at the upper limit of what my POC printer is capable of doing with decal paper, that is besides rolling it up around the drum or smashing it into a crumpled ball. Anything heavier than 'Fast Draft' results in the ink crazing as it dries and resembling dried mud. But they'll have to do until I can get something better. My only other printer is an old LexMark Z33 that's made to plug into an LPT port, something newer computers no longer have. I couldn't afford to use it anyway as the ink cartridges cost plenty.

Afternoon.  Busy day.  Took boys to train show.  Mostly "junk" as usual.  Did buy them a log dump car.  Came back and ran trains.  Then  went and got the big remote steam engines and ran them.  They just left.  Parents went to a funeral.  Afterwards, came and watched trains and then took them away.  Good to have them and good to send then home.  Walker is in middle school now.  He is doing a good job with Legacy remote.  Fair with DCS.  One day I am going to post my recent experiences with Mikes Trash House products and DCS.

Well I have a well worn ear now just got done talking to the chief for 58 minutes Good talk enjoyed it very much. Didn't solve any of the worlds problems but had a good chat.

Not much else going on here today Did get a deal on two tires on rims for my truck and I put them on the back already One was from neighbor and one from a thrift shop there both like new only thing is I went from P235/70R16 to LT 265/65R16 so raised the rear of the truck about 4" they have different tread as one is Firestone and the other is Goodyear wrangler both are M/S but the Goodyear has better tread pattern for mud I would say as it kinda looks like a knobby type tire.

Paid like $55 for the 2 of them total so not a bad deal and they both had 6 lug rims which was perfect for me. I had one of my rear tires that had a slow leak in it anyway so this helped out. heck if I just get a year out of them I'm ahead lol

Hope all had a good day will talk to you all later waiting for the tardis to come around.

Good Evening All!

Spent the day with HudsonJohn and my nephew at the Greenberg show in Edison. We had a great time. Seemed like the attendece was a bit low. I picked up a real nice train light with the PRR keystone logo on it. It's about 14" square with a visor on it, all metal.  While heading home we stopped off at a great hobby shop in Aberdeen. www.hobbyshopnj.com  . I picked up enough Wide Gauge track for my layout and HudsonJohn bought a passenger car. Great store.

Kev - Happy birthday!!!!Happy B-Day     I couldn't help but notice, but I guess the driving while drinking laws in your state are not as strict as here in NJ!

DevilRich - Sorry we missed you, maybe next time, even if it's just for lunch.

Charlie - Angel for your dad and your family.

RIJack - I've been to Fenway once with my son back in 2001. We had a great time. Just wondering if you've ever been to Da Bronx?

Fifedog - Sounds like you had a great time and nice seats! The O's are having a great season. Those teams in the 1970's were great. You could always count on a winning September from them. Earl and Billy Martin were probably the wildest managers of thier time.

JoeD - Another game tomorrow night with my girls at the Stadium against the Rangers. I'll have a beer for you, maybe two!

Sorry if I missed anyone, now back to watch the rest of the closing ceremonies.

Ray

Weather wise it was a nice day. It's 75 now at 9:30pm. I just gave 2 neighbors tomatoes and cukes. They are coming fast now. Granny canned a few but the gardens not big enough for a bushel crop to ripen all at once. Banilla is ready so soon we will be off. . . S.J.

Well I made it through the day. Kind of tired from yesterday still. No visitors today just me and the wifey looking at the radar and wondering why all the rains just keep going around us. I did cop a Lionel # 50 gang car with box for only $18.50 on the bay tonight so that is the only birthday gift I got with flanged wheels. Cake

Great NASCAR race today at the Glen. Yes

Hope when they do the maintenance on the forum they can get rid of some of the mystery glitches.

Granddaughter’s Thomas the tank is in the tank Tongue Tied so I am looking for a replacement before her birthday next month. It is almost better to just get the set for what they want for just the engine.

BTW Chief, I only have one birthday a year unlike some. Whistling

Good evening all,

Cooler weather in SE Indiana.  Spent all day going thru more of mom and dad's stuff.  Now that the estate is done, I can throw away old tax returns and financial statements.  Found a book my mom kept of every expense they ever made on the house.  I guess she thought she could use the numbers to reduce capital gains if they ever had to sell.  Found some menu cards from a passenger ship in the 1930s that grandparents used when grandfather was posted to Hawaii.  TBIL and I can drive.  Submmbob, cool pics of the Corvair wagon.  Let me know if you ever want to sell it.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Howdy guys - hope all had a good Sunday!  Prayers for Charlie's Dad, BoC, Jeff's Mom, and all in need.  Nice chat tonight with RT and SJ.

Today I put some drywall up for a dropped ceiling over the shower.  I then cut into the plumbing where it was pre-staged for a shower.  I ran it over and got it all lined up and added the drain.  I hope it's all plumb, kind of hard to make sure while on your belly working in a hole in the cement floor, lol!  I glued it all up and I'll fill around with sand and then a layer of cement on top this coming week.  First, I'll dry-fit the actual shower base and make sure it all really does line up, but I was kind of beat today.

TARDIS is ready, so let's get going!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Konnichiwa,

The remainder of our Sunday was nice: I had a 20-minute nap; watched the recorded UFC fights (okay fights); watched the Olympic marathon (2 of the 3 Americans didn’t even finish); and enjoyed a great dinner and root beer float.  The weather is warm again today and I am just finishing up my lunch break.  This will be a very busy week as I leave this Saturday for Quantico, VA.  I have to attend a work conference there.  I’m hoping to visit some train shops if there are any worth seeing in that area.

Chuck – Your new signal bridge looks great, and I’m sure it’s a very neat accessory.

Fife – That sound like quite the day at the ballpark.  Those are some very fine players you mentioned; I’ve always appreciated Cal Ripken for his performance on and off the field.  He is one of the great ones for baseball.

AF Ray – Why not make it three?  Have fun at the game and I hope the Yankees can start winning consistently again.

I’ll pray for all of us in need, especially those ailing and with ailing family.

Sayonara,

Joe

Good morning. It's 77° with 98% humidity. I can hear water pouring inside the A/C unit right now. The weather guesser says there's a fair chance of rain today. The high will 95° but will feel like 104°.

When I got home last night I saw that the decals I had made earlier had done exactly what I said they would do. The ink crazed and cracked and the looked like old badly weathered peeling signs that had been out in the elements for too many years. So much for using decal paper in my printer. So I printed up some new 'KEEP OFF!' signs on some thin paper I found laying around, think it was an old bill or something or other. They have black letters on a gray background. At least I think it's gray. I'm a bit color-blind. I printed up a few dozen. I intend to apply them to every loco on the layout then I'll get started on those in the display rack. I have to put a little glue on the backs of them but that takes about as long as dipping a decal in water. I got one a little crooked on the slug and I'm going to have to redo that one. I also put them on the GP38 and SD27J as well as the F7A and both F3B's. Maybe later I'll hit the GP9's. Depends on how I feel later. I was up ALL night working on this so I haven't had a bit of sleep except for a little nod here and there. But I guess for now it's back to making glue on paper decals like I did years ago.

Note the 'KEEP OFF!' decals on the F7. Those are simply strips of printed paper glued on with white glue.

See y'all later.

Good morning all, just got on the forum at 11:24AM PDT.  Still not aqainted with changes yet.

Ran trains for a little while this morning and just shut down a few minutes ago after temp hit 90.  Stayed in there longer than I wanted to.

Still not happy with my car repair but it is what it is.  Too tired to fight it for a while.

Just ran across a photograph of some of our Thursday night guys from 1982 on the occasion of a visit to the late Ward Kimball's train collection and real trains.  Good photo of my recently deceased friend ED and me among the others.  Amazing how skinny we all were 30 years ago.

later,

Ray

Hi GUYZ,

New digs aye?  I guess ok?  We'll see.  Well all the bicyclist are gone and back to normal in this sleepy little town.  Rode my bike down to the bike race and of course got yelled at by the great fire police.  Said I wasn't suppose to be on a bike during the race might confuse the other racers, yeah right.  Oh well moved on down the line.  They good pretty fast on the skinny tires as oppsed to the mt tire wide fat tires.  Pretty neat though.

Got a call today from the GUYZ at the PIONEER TUNNEL.  Being it's their 50th anniversery this weekend, they needed help up there,  so gonna go up and help them a little.  I hope I can remember how to fire up the LOKIE?  Maybe get to drive it?

We got a nice t storm this morning here and had to run inside on treadmill.  Felt guilty so took my MINNIE late this morning for another run in the woods.  Felt great but muggy.  Picked beans for tonite.

Did anyone watch AMERICAN PICKERS last nite?  They bought a standard gauge Lionel Tinplate American States set for 8K and was told they could get big bucks for it at auction.  Turns out they had no reserve on it and it only sold for $3400.  Serves these guys right, they are always taking advantage over these people and buying their stuff and turning around and getting double and even sometimes triple what they paid for it.  I'm all for making a profit but sometimes it's just hoodwinking the people.  SoapBox

Happy B-Day to your puppy there DOUG M.  Make sure he gets many doggie treats.

KEV, hope you had a good B day too,  from that pick it looks like an OL MIL in that hand of yours?

Stay frosty,
