Morning CTTFans!

Currently 63F and heading for 90+.  We average 33 90+ / year and the record is 61 and we set that record only a few years ago. So it looks like we might break the record given we have had 7 of 8 days in Aug above 90 already and the forecast is for more and more and more.  Smoke from Out-of-State FIRES are starting to drift in again today. Hi Ho, Hi Ho, back to work I go...

Hello all

Nice and sunny out now and a little windy. My friend Bill will be coming up to see the telescope today.

BoC - nice photo of the VIA Genesis engine!

The photo I posted last night was off the eastbound Southwest Chief from the window of my coach somewhere south of Las Vegas, NM.

Jack - the funniest part about the grill was this guy was really into his food so he washed and ate the steak anywayIndifferent We reminded him that the last thing the mouse probably did on his steak was NOT complimentary.

Got to go find Bill

Bob

Bob.......you were probably laughing so hard at the guy that that was how you hurt your back.  Glad you are doing better. Big Smile

Jeff.......as always, I enjoy your pictures.Thumbs Up

MikeC........hope the HH has settled down and that you are feeling better.  That is no fun.

SJ........I can't believe how warm it stays by you so late into the evenings.  85 certainly is not my idea of a good sleeping temperature unless the windows are closed and the A/C is on.

Rich.....did ya get your master cylinder for the Road Runner yet?

Last night I dozed off after the sports on the news, but I was awakened by the worried wife.  "Did you remember to lower the thermostat downstairs so that Maximus does not get too warm?" Bang Head

Later, gang!

KEV.......I'd be curious as to what the highest single snowstorm accumulation total you guys have ever experienced.  34" here North of Boston but I am not sure what year.  With drifting from the winds, you could not even see where the car was in the driveway.  The Winter of 1996/1997 we got dumped with a season snowfall total of 121" versus the average annual of 42"!!!!!

I sorta remember that.....oh, I was stuck at the firehouse for a day...lol

Happy Thurday!!!

Yes, I have found a master cylinder, today!  It is the correct one, remanned and it's on its way to the AutoZone....2nd time they have bailed me out.   I just wish one was closer to me.

My best friend pulled in from Columbia, MO yesterday, which kinda fouled up my plans to work on the car and get my contacts, go to the bank.....and tonight is my fire meeting....Bang Head so after the meeting, I'm running over to my BIL's to install the master cylinder.  Bleed brakes tomorrow night, button up the exhaust and drop in on the ground.  Then the REAL fun begins.....Bang Head.....Bang Head.....Bang Head.....Bang Head

Pulsar is on Craigslist, seeing is how the Princess will not be back to drive it, I don't need it.

Completed more divorce paperwork yesterday morning, hopefully I'll be able to delivery my soon to be ex her stuff by next week.  And then I can get my roadrunner BACK in my name....we shall see.

Up to 90 today, humidity is kicking in and its miserable again.  I'll take some fall/spring weather right now, thanks!!

Jack

Jack In my lifetime for a single day it had to be 1-26-67 they recorded 23" in Chicago but we got a little more in Plainfield 26". It was one of the only days my dad missed work because of snow. I made some bank doing sidewalks and driveways.

As for a season it had to be 1979-80 There was upward of 90"

It was so bad they had to quit using snow plows and use wheel loaders on the roads. The roads were like driving through walls of snow. it would be over 10' to 15' deep on the sides of the roads where there were drifts.

Aloha. Grey here. Little rain though. Sigh. Running around cleaning and rearranging as the bride has her GFs over tomorrow night. Prayers for your mom, Jeff.  Interesting to reflect on my biggest snow - probably Snowmaggedon from a year ago. 21 inches.  Took jobless friend out for lunch to encourage him.

Hi GUYZ,

HUMID here, did my run and was drenched this morning.  Then to dog for a 2.5 miler and sweated again.  Must be all that Ol MILLs aqumulation in the system and its just getting to the top?  Anyway I did make room for more.  Did fix the rafter and capped it with aluminum and then hung new old rain gutter on the one side that everything is pitched on so water doesn't eat away another rafter.  Got GOLF later today after 5 only 10 bucks for nine holes with a cart.  Can't beat it.

JEFFERY, Angel for your MOM and DAD.

KEV, love that pic.  I'll take that over this heat any day.  Largest sno hi o here was 36 inches back in '93 closed schools for a week.  Don't have to worry bout that anymore.

I put a Digitrax DH123 decoder into the F7 slug today and speed matched it as close as I could to the Bachmann equipped GP38-2 and SD27J consist to which the slug is now coupled. It looks kind of strange back there but at the same interesting.

Good afternoon all,

USA! USA! USA!  Women's National Team atones for last year's loss in World Cup with 2-1 win in Olympics.  Could not watch the game as I was at work, but will when becomes available on the net.  Feeling much better physically today, but as expected was buried in case reports today. Will take more than a week to catch up. For the moment, will bask in the victory.  TBIL and I will be victory barrel rolls all night long!!!!  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Jeffrey, prayers for your mom and your whole familyAngel

Got my car back from dealer today where it has been for the last three days.  Got in, started up to drive home and the driver's window would not roll up. Back to service, checked it out and found bad master switch for power windows.  Did not have part and will not get it for three days.  Told to come back on Saturday.  Started to go home again and drove one block.  The steering is tighter than a red bugs bottom strechted over a 50 gal. oil drum.  It has no returnability.  When you make a turn, you have to turn it back to the original position manually.  I just paid maga bucks to get the front end worked on and now this.  Back to service department and asked, "did anyone do a road check on this car or a driving test?"  Got a blank look and a weak "yea I think so".  Service writer drove the car around the parking lot  and suggested that it should loosen up with more driving.  Bull!  Even though, I did not believe him,  I took the car on a 15 mile round trip on a twisting mountain road.  Still stiff as a board so we are thinking about taking the car back later today so they can work on it tomorrow while they are waiting for the window part.  Good thing I didn't take the car to an independent repair place. New car salesman at the same place wants to give me a "deal" on a new car.  He will only give me the cost of my repairs for my 96 Honda.  That means he is getting it for free or in other words, they don't really want it.  I must have a sign on my back that says "just fell off the turnip truck".  These guys are unbelievable.  I'll probably just keep the old car after all the repairs even if I do buy a new one.  The 96 Honda would be a better second car than the old 87 Buick I have now.

Went to good cook out last night at friends home.  Beautiful home high up in the hills above the valley here with large lot, patio and pool.  One of those places you see in Sunset Magazine.

I would like to make a trip to the beach if I can ever get my car problems straightened out.

Over 100 degrees today and for the rest of the week.  Just pray we don't have any fires.

Ray

Jeffery saw where some were posting concerns for your mother hope all is fine now will keep her in my prayers for you.

Hey all not a lot going on here today. Was going to work OT but had extra person so I volunteered to go as just wasn't feeling up to it but would of stayed if there wasn't an extra person as know what its like to be short at night there.

Well My GG-1 and my Dash 8 are on there way back. All fixed and working fine Big Smile so next deed will be to start converting the dash 8 shell from Norfolk Southern to New York central which should be fairly easy seeing they both are a black base and go from there sure it won't look like a traditional one but then from what I can find NYC never had any dash 8's so it will be interesting to say the least.

Guess really need to get started on finishing the den ( addition to house)

Talk to you all later supose to be off tomorrow but still have to go in for a dr.s appointment and for some other things so its like not being off

He gets so up tight when you take a *&^%^$#@ NS engine and upgrade it to a superior NYC not sure how long they may want to keep him, I'm trying to convince them hes really harmless just gets these ideas that he has to give free passes to go thru his state and all.

Ohayō,

It’s the same routine for me today as yesterday.  I’m staying home from work this morning to watch the youngest while the wife and older two are at the church.  It is sunny and bright outside again as well.  It was nice to see the Yankees split the four-game series with the Tigers.  I’ll try to catch the Tardis shortly.

Kev – Thanks for posting the photo to keep us cool.

Jack and Bob – The grilled mouse is a stretch, even for me.  Ick!

Time for me to call it a night. Still near 90 outside. 30% rain chance tonight. Radar shows some patches but nothing major. Expecting 40% Friday. Put a decoder in the F7 slug and put the L&A decals on it. Ran it in consist with the GP38 and SD27J. It runs flawlessly. See y'all tomorrow.

Honda dealer had no less than three people test drive the car today and they all agree that nothing was wrong with the steering.  Only problem is, they haven't convinced me.  Both my son and I have driven it and both agree that the steering is very stiff.  They checked the pressure on the power steering fluid pump and that was OK.  I drove it back home and my hands were tired from steering after only 7 miles.  Don't know what else I can do except get a second opinion and prove something is wrong.  Have to take it back Saturday to get a new switch for automatic window closer.

Prayers for Jeffrey's Mom, BoC and all in need.

Nice chat tonight with pretty much the full crew - lots of good fellowship and deep thoughts about cheap beer we all used to drink in "the day".   Work has been crazy this week.  Stupid phone quit working and when I got under the desk to check it out, I ripped a hole in my finger on a staple stuck in the carpet - ouch!  Good part, I got up with all this blood on my hand and someone who had come to give me a hard time saw it, put their paperwork on my desk, and made tracks for the horizon!  YAY!

TARDIS is ready - let's hit it boys!  Mike - I will be sure to use my seatbelt!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Been a busy week.  I'm behind on the forum.

Cold front moved through last night and we got a little rain.  Too little, too late to help the corn.  It did cool off some for the opening day of the State Fair.  My wife and I spent the afternoon wandering around in the fair.  Got our yearly rations of corn dogs, Italian sausage sandwiches, funnel cakes, etc, etc.

Visited my dermatoligest Wednesday.  He dug a deeper hole to make sure the weirdo mole he skimmed off last month was all gone.  The good news here is that this was precautionary.  I wanted to name the crater in my leg 'Tyco'.  My wife pointed out that name would not work - the crater is on my leg, not my butt.

Got the four cobooses I won on e-bay the other day.  One of them is a 6017 with clear plastic window inserts, lighted interior, and fuel tanks.  Must be an early one.  I've never seen a 6017 this fancy.  Another one is an early 70's Rock Island.  Surprisingly, the Greenburg shows that one as the most valuable.

By the way - what is the proper plural form of caboose?

Prayers for healing and comfort.

All for now.

Cool 64 degrees, sunny and going to the low 80s today. No AC running for a change. DougM, Still no rain or any in site. Some went around us yesterday but none here.

Wife is in a cleaning frenzy trying to get it all done before she has to go back to work next Thursday for the new school year. Spent yesterday doing all of the floors, yeah Chief we have wood floors here. Humm she had all summer to do it and she waits to the last week?? Huh?

Ordered my Mobilgas decals for the Sunoco oil derrick so it will fit in with the rest of the Mobilgas tank farm. Yes

Other than that no train news but I am looking for my order from Model Train Stuff to show up today or tomorrow.

Future SIL Dan is off on suspension from work till Monday while they investigate a charge that one of his workers made against him. He had to send the guy home for lack of work effort so the guy claimed he called him a wetb_ _k Doubt he did that, it is not like him and Dan's last name is Gonzalez. He should of made sure someone else was there when he was doing the disciplinary action. Hope it works out for him. Tongue Tied

Have a good day all.

Good morning. It's 78° with 93% humidity. Step outside and you already feel wet. There's a fair chance of showers and thunderstorms. The high will be 92° but will feel like 106°.

Nothing new to report on my mothers condition.

I would have posted earlier this morning but I'm having so much fun watching the GP38-2. SD37J and the F7 slug pull a train around the layout. What's funny is the noise level from the locos. Don't get me wrong, the Bachmann and Atlas are very quiet. They should be. They're well made models. The slug is even quieter, basically wheels on the rails with only a very slight hum. And it's built from pieces gathered from here and there and a set of gears from the junk box! Going on the pieces used it could be either a Prothearn or an Athroto or just a custom junk build. The next one I build would likely be a powered slug made from a chopped geep or SD. I'd need a thin, flat motor for it and that could be a bear to find.
