Jeff,

            Happy B-Day

Ray,

Do you have a tough time driving after novacaine (sp?)?  I usually leave the dentist a bit spaced out after fillings, and driving feels different.  Never used to get novacaine, but the last few hurt too much without it.

Off for the week on vacation.  Was going to go to OC, but I think I'll do a staycation instead.  Setting foot in Berlin, MD would probably result in a $$ issue for sure.Laugh  Still have last summer's 2343s wrapped.  It'll give me a chance to get some layout work done along with some other projects.

It's a muggy 72 with bright sun. 88 today. A quick shower yesterday evening saved me from watering the garden. I think last nights chat was just Brutus and Charlie. I can see why some of you use small font this thing is annoying. Only happens here so I know where the fault lies. A summer train show and then Hmm I don't know....S.J.

BOC: That's an interesting sounding paper weight you have there. Something like a Challenger is way too big for my layout. Have fun.

Good morning. It's 73° and mostly cloudy. The high will be 88°. Showers and thunderstorms are likely.

Nothing special planned for today. Got some cleanup work to do on the layout. May run some trains later. Now back to watching "The man with the golden gun".

Good evening everyone.  About to head to bed.  A full day of shopping and going over some paperwork for China.  Thanks for the encouraging words.  I also started reading a book called "Silent Tears".  It is difficult to think about the lives these children face in the orphanages.  I will elaborate more after we get back.

Ray, that church is in Kansas.  I understand the main body is only a few misguided families, several of which are lawyers.  They send messages to local communities saying they are coming to protest, and most times do not show up.  They disrupt things by threatening to come.

Rich, something I recently read on split families, no matter what you feel about the ex, don't put them down in front of your kids.  The take on the kids is that they are half of the other parent, so in their minds, you are putting them down, that they are also no good.  You are doing right by keeping silent about your ex.  Hope your daughter feels the love that you have for her and that she returns soon.

Well, time for bed.  God bless,

Dennis

That's a pretty strong drink, Jeffrey!  Be careful!  We'll bring some banilla on the TARDIS shortly, make sure the neighbors don't shoot us down!

Rich - prayers for the Princess.

Mike - good news on Lucas, hope it all works out soon!

BoC - bless you, man.

Dennis - hope things keep moving in the right direction!

Sounds like Doug is having a nice trip!

RAY - I hope your neighbor appreciates you.

Picked up a shower kit and base for the basement today, along with some components to install it.  I need to go back for drywall, half a dozen 2x4's, and a few odds and ends, but otherwise good to get started on that project.

Tonight we finally got a chance to go out to dinner as a family.  We hit the Texas Road House for some steaks and I had a Shocktop beer, which was pretty good.  I even have leftover steak for a big sandwich tomorrow - can't wait!

TARDIS is ready, TTFN!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Back from the woods and 100+ degrees and higher heat index.  4 Wheelers pulling disk were overheating.  I chugged right along.  Completely soaked but drank a lot of water.  We stopped at 2 PM.  Got lots of deer food plots sown.  Now for rain which is forecasted for early next week.  They had had some big rains down there when we here did not get any.  Got back in time to run by Mrs. Edna's and pick up track sections that she had come in.  Now the switching yard is complete.  Turn big sections over Monday and solder.  Then screw down.

Tired.  Off to watch 11 oclock news and weather.

Thanks everybody for the birthday wishes. Their appreciated.

Time for me to call it a night. Just got back home a little while ago. Got stuck here earlier today by a storm and no internet service. Later I went with my parents to do some shopping. I got a bottle of 91% alcohol, a package of socks, a pack of T-shirts and a pack of underwear. My father paid for it. That was my birthday gift. I had dinner at their home tonight. Steak, succotash, collard greens, shoestring potatoes, cornbread. Excellent meal. I helped clean the kitchen afterward. See y'all tomorrow.

Good afternoon all,

It RAINED in SE Indiana today.  Not for long, and it was a downpour, but at least it was water falling from the skies.  AJ's team starts 13th tomorrow and Sarah's is 22nd I believe.   Happy birthday to Jeffrey!  Got some HO EZ track recently and threw a small oval with sidings to run some old CB&Q equipment I had from a long time ago.  Works pretty well.  I have some old Plasticville HO buildings as well and will have a nice small relaxing setup for that size as well.  Got a limb down that was draped over neighbor's shed before they could holler about that.  Maybe we will get some more rain.  KRM, you are right about the Indiana corn.  It is bad.  Had a nice visit with Lucas last night.  He seems optimistic about getting a job soon.  TBIL and I can drive.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good morning all,

Jeffrey, Happy birthday and lots more of them.Happy B-DayCakeBeerGiftDrinks  Bet your folks have something cooked up.

Jack, re the dentist, first half hour was just spent waiting for novocaine to take effect.  They had to give it to me three times during the procedure.  Put in a temporary filling so I have to go back for the permanent one.  I think they have to make sure there is no infection before they make it permanent.

Re the new block wall project, I did suggest a nice looking redwood fence to the neighbor but he is set on a block wall to match the walls on the rest of his property.  As far as the trees go, They could have been dealt with differently if the neighbor was so inclined but he is not.  Heck!  my neighbor on the right side of me and I have a mutual palm tree growing right on the property line and the fence was just built up to either side of it.  Never been a problem to either one of us.  My neighbor in the rear thinks he will have a better view of the foothills if the trees come down.  I think that is the bottom line.  I'm sure he is getting far more benefit from this project than me but I'm trying to be a good neighbor.  The fence guy came yesterday for prelimanary survey.  Knocked down part of the old fence and left.  Tree guy was put on hold until next week.  I hope this doesn't turn out to be one of those long drawnout affairs.  It took a lot of compromising on my part to agree to the project.  Now, I just want to get it over with.

Last Thursday night my friends helped me run down a short circuit on my layout.  It was on a circuit just supplying street lights and building lights.  After two hours of isolating different sections the culprit turned out to be two bare wires at the end of the circuit that had touched causing the short.  Moral of the story, don't leave bare wires around.  They were originally connected to a track side accessory but were disconnected.  I don't remember why now.  Duh!

Heard a story on the news that the nutcase church I think in N.C. was threatening to protest the Andy Griffith funeral but they must have been too late since he was buried 5 hours after he died in an undisclosed location by his family.  They were demonizing Andy since he had been twice devorced in his life.  These are the same people who protest funerals of fallen soldiers.  Supreme Court upheld their right to do these kinds of protest.

Dennis, Godspeed on your upcoming trip to China.

later,

Ray

Quick pass through, I'm at work....and its in the mid 90s right now.

Jack - thanks for the encouragement....God knows I need it.  It's gonna be on of those deals where she's gonna have to make the mistakes and fall.  I'll be there when she needs me.

Laz  Thumbs Up - One of the few times I actually took off my turnout coat and sat in the rain so I could cool off.....

Jeff - Happy B-Day enjoy the day!

Dennis - good luck on your trip.

Been riding the HD exclusively the last few weeks, baring rain and such.  Trust me, the trend will continue for the forseeable future.

Be safe guys!!!

Well........you have heard the United States Postal service mantra about how nothing will deter them from their appointed rounds.

The same goes for my wife when it comes to shopping for shoes.  Severe thunderstorms are imminent, but nonetheless she is off to the mall to shop for shoes......to compliment her already gigantic inventory.  Is there a twelve step program for shoe addiction? Alot going on today as my #1 daughters house is finally finished with the painting inside and we will start to "load er up" as they say.

While finishing up at work around 6:30 the wife texted me as to what do I want for dinner? I said whatever. I guess that was the wrong answer because an hour later we were all eating at the local diner.

Good morning. It's 73° and mostly cloudy. There's a 60% chance of rain. The high will be 92°. I expect the heat index to be around 102°.

I have no plans today. It's my birthday and there's no telling what other family members have concocted. May be something special, may not.

Good Mornin' Ya'll From Cloudy Taxachusetts,

I'm having an ear issue again, bought some OTC ear cleaning liquid and flush product, pharmacist recommended.  Can't hear a whole lot out of that ear, but the instructions say give it a treatment once a day for 3-4 days.  I have had this before, starting in my 20s, and the Docs have said it has something to do with my ear canal shape not letting the ear gunk drain naturally. Bang Head

Thank you JoeyD for the "encouraging" words Whistlingabout the Red Sox loss to the Yankees in Boston last night. Bang Head  Sorrow in Red Sox Nation.Sad

Rich......some things you cannot change, but you can make them worse, far worse.  I applaud you for taking the higher road and keeping quiet.  No sense in adding gas to the fire. Hang in there, and keep the long view.  Your Princess has seen and sees what is going on, and she will remember how you handled this and love you all the more for it.   Thumbs UpAngel

Of course, it's going to be 90+ here today and I hope we get a sprinkle as the lawn is suffering.

Later, gang.

Good morning everyone. Happy Birthdate Jeff, hope it is a good one for you. I have my work cut out for me today. Have to install a child safety gate at the top of the stairs. The main issue is that it is an open bannister and so I will have to first mount some oak to the side and then mount the gate frame to the oak. We have to go back to the days when our other kids were two and "kid-proof" the house again. Rich, thanks for the thoughts. Can't believe it has been 24 years. I know the impact to the fire service is lasting. Besides making folks aware of bowstring truss roofs, you cannot assume that in a business fire call, in which you were on scene within three minutes does not mean that the burn time is short. The workers had been trying to fight the fire for thirty minutes prior to calling. I can easily recall seeing the guys working on the far end of the garage bay trying to gain access to the fire. Lion, we have been following the blog of a family who is from the west side of Colorado Springs, and the woman is in China now, having adopted from the same orphanage we are going to. The same moment she was getting ready to leave for China, the police were knocking on her door to evacuate the area. Her family is back home, and they put photos of all the ash in their pool, but what a thing to be dealing with when having to be on the other side of the world. Chief, hope you get done all you want today, but make sure you stay hydrated. Jack, thanks, it is a real blessing. If you go to YouTube, they have a documentary called "The Dying Rooms", it will break your heart. Pray that each of you has a blessed day. Dennis

Morning all.  Back from lake early last night.  Off to Edgecombe Co. to work in the "deer woods" at over 100 degrees with heat index of, OH WELL.  Guy I let hunt with Fred and I has a 4 wheeler with disk and etc.  Sowing feed plots and putting up additional stands.  Ice chest full of bottled water.

Did get almost 1/2 inch of rain yesterday but none at the lake.  That was a refresh for here.  Thank you Lord.

Happy Birthday Jeffrey [missed it yesterday]. Happy B-Day

Konnichiwa,

It’s hard to believe that this is my first post on the Pot for July.  It has been a very busy month thus far: The older boy turned 9 on the 1st; the youngest turned 2 today; and school and work have been keeping me busy as well.  The princess will turn 11 on the 23rd so July will continue to be busy for us.  I’ve read through all the Pot’s pages for July and there has been quite a bit going on.  I’m glad Chuck and Buckeye survived the storms and power outages.  I hope everyone else is doing well.

The Yankees won the series opener against the Sox last night at Fenway.  It will be great if they can sweep them this weekend.

BOC – I’ll be praying for you.  Hopefully you will not have too many more treatments.

Jeffrey – Happy Birthday!
