Either the wars have started at Ft Polk or there's a very noisy thunderstorm headed my way. The weather radar agrees with my thunderstorm assessment. See y'all later.

Morning all.  Lazy morning.  Watched two DVR'd NY22.  Love that show but they do not run it regularly.  Now to the Box for some work.  Suppose to be raining by early afternoon. ?????  Fifey, send it south please.  Suppose to get rain off and on for three to four days.  Hope it hits down east as the deer plots will start growing.

Have a great week.

Good morning. It's 73° and cloudy. The high will be 90° with a heat index of 100°. There's a 60% chance of showers and thunderstorms with locally heavy rain possible.

Maybe today I can do the cleanup work on the layout that I didn't do yesterday. I don't have anything planned for today.

Jack I think your right either way thou i feel you would be hearing about this endlessly and in-fact the officer did you a huge favor by not ticketing her as you would never of heard the end of it period. Be thankful the good lord gave the officer the kindness to let her go.

As I think your wife would be contacting Kevin's wife to see if Kevin has gotten her that shooting instructor had she gotten a ticket and you conveniently forgot to put the registration and insurance back in the car.

Morning all not a lot planned for today. Just did the breakfast thing so now need to start finishing the paperwork I have to do and will get done today lol Talk to you all later

Not that I've seen.

Do you have any pictures of their rolling stock and logos?

No. The Louisiana and Arkansas Railway I run is a freelance version of what the L&A might have become had it not bought the KCS and merged with it. Here's a history on the real L&A Railway. You may be able to find something.

A trip to the mall is on our to do list this morning, probably a lot more looking than buying. Kev with all those night shots I hope you remember where your propane tank is...S.J.

Good Mornin' Ya'll From Crystal Clear Taxachusetts,

Some guys are into saving their train boxes.  My wife is into saving most cardboard boxes just in case we need to store something.  Over time your house fills up with empty boxes.  So yesterday when the wife was out I went out to the garage with box cutter in hand and spent over an hour thinnning out the heard, cutting them up and bundling them in accordance with the recycling size parameters, then hid them behind some other boxes until trash day. Smile, Wink & Grin

Last night the wifey said she wanted to take the wheel on our drive back from NH and dog training.  It was about 10:30PM, and the traffic on the interstate and the highway were heavier than normal for that time of night on a Sunday......vacationers returning from points North.  Sure enough, we hit road construction which really slowed things down.  After things really thinned out as we got closer to home, we were pretty much alone out there on the road.  The wifey was driving 60mph in a 55 on a four lane divided highway, two lanes in each direction.  Then the fun started.

Earlier in the day I had taken the auto owners' manual into the house to read up on something.  In the pouch for the manual we keep our registration, insurance, and inspection stuff.  This stuff is ALWAYS in the car; but I forgot to put the stuff back in the car before we headed up to NH earlier in the day.  Murphy's Law commenced.

Sure enough, our car lights up like daylight with a MA State Trooper right behind us in the left travel lane.  Wife pulls over, which is when I realized we had no registration or evidence of insurance, both ticketable offenses in MA plus whatever else the trooper had in mind. Bang Head

Wife runs the window down and looks at the Trooper with a (feigned) look of fright and confusion.  "Drivers' license, registration, and insurance card, please."  I respond from the passenger seat that I had left them at home by accident.

Officer glances very briefly at wife's license and then back at her.  "Do you know why I pulled you over?"  Wife, in her most convincing, academy award- winning, look of surprise, complete with a sweet voice, responds "No officer, I don't."  You get the picture.  These are looks I don't get from her.  And certainly not when I interrupt my wife's progress at something.  And  never when I have any advice about her driving. Big Smile

He says, "You were travelling in the left lane which is for passing only.  It is the law.  You should have been in the right lane in the event an emergency vehicle needed to pass you." was his response.

Wife answers as sweet as can be, "Yes, officer, but this stretch of Route 128 contains 3 dangerous interchanges with no run up ramps.  Cars entering the highway are either off the highway or they pull right out in front of you.  It is very dangerous.  I thought it would be safer travelling in the left hand lane past these interchanges."

I am totally silent, snickering to myself as I think she is about to get written up for three offenses.  I am thinking what great fun I will have with all of this, teasing her for the next couple of decades about her driving when it is she who is the back seat driver when I am behind the wheel.  Me.....who never gets pulled over.

In a flash he quickly hands her back her drivers' license, advises her to remain right except to pass, tells us to be safe when pulling back out onto the road, and walks back to his car.

What's with that?!?  Surprise  If it were me behind the wheel.....Bang Head  Or if I were the officer who pulled my wife over and was pointing out her driving indiscretions, all hell would break loose.  The whole situation was surreal.

I maintain that this might have been discrimination of the worst form, motor vehicle sexual profiling!!!.

But I would also like to give the State Trooper the benefit of the doubt.  He might have been thinking about the wifey blaming me for everything and for all of the grief she was surely going to be giving me about not having the registration and proof of insurance in the car.  He may have felt sorry for me.

"This poor guy is going to be hearing about it endlessly from this woman. He will suffer enough, even though he was not behind the wheel." Smile, Wink & Grin

Later, gang

Cool at 71 and only going up to 88 today. That is more like it.

Going to load up some scrap and haul it in to the yard today to get some cash and get rid of the stuff.

I looked at one raccoon at 3:00am but did not like the shot, so I went to bed. Maybe tonight. Whistling

Joe, I never though of the traveling carnival, you may have something there. I could use a part time job.  Clown

Chief, The only place I know where you can order it in the morning and get it in the afternoon is Granger.

Fife, sounds like a good time was had by all. Yes

BOC, Have a good visit to the Hospital today and god bless. Smile

Jack . If I am going to get shooting lessons for the wife. I want a retired teacher that uses this forum to teach her. I will be safe then. Laugh

SP Ray, and Chief,

........I decided to put the Gator in the shed and go in and make some breakfast. When I pulled into the shop to park the Gator I saw a bunggey strap on the floor and thought ????  Huh?  How did that get there. I bent down, picked it up and when I went to put it back on the conduit I hang them from ,,,, well what the heck,,,, There is a hole in the inside wall of the shed.  Surprise So I go outside and there is a hole on the outside of the shed.  Surprise  Surprise Seems one of the bullets I shot hit the coon or the concrete at the bottom of the bird feeder and bounced off and through the shed wall. Oops.  Oops  Oops  Dunce

Prayers for all in need.  Angel

You all have a good night.

KEV.......how do you know it was your shot at the racoon that created the holes in the shed?  Sounds like your wife missed you, needs shooting lessons or the sights need adjustment.  Whistling

Good morning all,

It is partly cloudy in SE Indiana, but no cooler as it will be near 90 again.  Quiet evening at home as I ran the HO for a while.  Wife and I did go for a walk in the evening.  Back to a 5 day work week this week and a game on Wednesday.  I had bacon and biscuits on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East".  TBIL.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Konnichiwa,

I’m just finishing my lunch break so I have a few minutes to post.  We had a great Sunday yesterday: Sunday school and church in the morning; followed by lunch at Chili’s and relaxation for most of the afternoon.  The rain finally let up so I had to take advantage of it and mow the lawn.  The rainy season usually starts in July and once it starts it will not stop until August.  I started this morning with an 8-mile run; fortunately it wasn’t too hot at 0600.  The workday has been progressing nicely and the 9y/o boy and I have our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes tonight.  I restarted my BJJ training last week as I missed being out of it.

The Yankees are currently beating the Sox which will give them a series win in Boston.  That is a great way to go into the All Star break.  Jack, I’m just doing what I can to help.

BOC – That is awesome.  I’m glad you overcame the tripping and no mike to provide your testimony.

Kev – Are you practicing your trick shooting skills so you can enter the traveling carnival? Smile, Wink & Grin

Sayonara,

Joe

R.I.P. Ernest Borgnine. He passed away today at age 95.

Time for me to call it a night. No layout work today but I did run a train for a while. First with the three GP9 Frankenlocos then with the F7A-F3B-F3B Frankenlocos. Weather here was on the verge of rain. Very humid and sticky. Went to see my sister today. Just the walk from my van up the hill to her porch was enough to get me soaked what with the high humidity. That's it for today. See y'all tomorrow.

We had 80s today, much more comfortable.

My friend and I checked out the train show, a few sellers willing to barter but they didn't have anything I needed to bring home. We didn't hang around to chat either the A/C wasn't working. I  spent the afternoon just goofing off. Banilla is waiting for the thingy crew..S.J.

SP Ray, and Chief,

We have a 30 to 40 foot deep ravine about 750 foot back to the west from the house with a creek at the bottom. (Now dry). I pitch the dead raccoons down there and the coyotes come at night and drag them away. I hunt the raccoons, rabbits and squirrels and my neighbor hunts the coyotes. So it is kind of a food chain thing.

Only thing is the neighbor has not got a coyote yet. (Must have been trained to shoot by LAZ.)  Laugh

On a funny note and not to be one to not poke fun at myself,,, last night I was going for a two shoot. There were two raccoons in the kill zone at the same time and I thought I may be able to hit them both at once.  Yes  Well NOT!. Sad  I shot at them and one flipped up and sort of ran off to the south. So I figured I got him and would look for him in the morning. Later around 2:00AM I got up and there was his pal in the kill zone so I put him in the cross hairs, took a deep breath and pulled the trigger. Pop, he jumped and ran off to the north. The thing was I heard a funny sound like tin right after the shot but thought nothing of it and went to bed and thought I would look for him in the morning as well making the kill number 12. Well I got up around 7:00 and went out to look for the kills. I could not find anything. This is not too strange because if you don’t get a good shot they can run off and die in the wood. You can tell by the smell a few days later and just figure you got them.

I decided to put the Gator in the shed and go in and make some breakfast.

Well I spent some time today repairing the walls in the shed and have not found the slug?  Confused

Chief, glad you got the heat today. We were a cool 90 and that felt good. Hope it cools off for you tomorrow.

Prayers for all in need.  Angel

You all have a good night.

Good evening all,

Some light showers in the area, but no effective relief yet in SE Indiana.  Finally, a good day racing wise.  Thought SFHR was going to get  a podium  finish, but Newgarden got in too big of a hurry and wound up 13th.  However, the resulting yellows allowed Conway to get the first podium for AJ since Meira in Brazil in 2010.  If not for some bad luck with an early yellow, Conway might have gotten a win.  It moves him up to 18th in the points, and it showed the team was competitive again.  Maybe Number 14 will be in the winner's circle again soon.  Also watched a great F-1 race with Webber passing Alonso with just a few laps to go.  Great stuff today.  Had a really good missionary priest at church today as well talking about their work with kids with HIV.  As AJ himself would say, "All in all, we had a pretty good day."  TBIL and I can drive.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

I believe this is the worse day of them all heat and humidity wise.  I thought it was bad in the woods yesterday with no breeze.  I now know why the deer are out in the fields eating during the hot day.  Hotter in the woods.  Down east there is usually a breeze [hot one but still a breeze] blowing due to the flat land and big fields.

Afternoon everyone.  Great church service this morning.  Had a nice lunch, but have a bad headache.  Came home and had to bring new dresser that we had bought yesterday for the new kid's room, inside.  Now our current brood is playing with the box it came in.  At this point, I believe the new room is done and ready for occupancy.

Ray, no problem.  In fact, I think that the best thing we can do about that church would be to ignor them.  Kind of like these other protesters, where do they get the notoriety that the news covers them?  Seems anyone with a bullhorn and a sign gets on TV.

BOC, hope your testimony went well.  Is your church part of the "One Cry" movement.  We have started a series on it here.

Hope each of you has a blessed week ahead.

Dennis

Good morning all,  Computer grimlins took me 10 trys to enter password for reply.

Kev, 10 racoons?  What do you do with all those carcasses?  Maybe you could bring back racoon coats and coonskin caps for sale.

Jack, re novacaine, They only gave me one injection.  Subsequent doses were bathing the tooth nerve only with it.

Jeffrey, although underwear is not like getting trains, it is something you can use and the price was right.  Also you had an excellent meal.  Can't go wrong with that.

Dweiner, thank you for the correction on the location of the nut case church.  Apologies to my native state of North Carolina for incorrectly associating them with this bunch.  I should have known better.

Getting ready for church now.

later,

Ray

Afternoon [already].  Up at 6:30 as "kids" were hungry.  Back to sleep and woke up at 10:30.  Watched TV Church.  Message was on Grace.  Hot and humid outside.  Still hitting the 100 mark.  You Yanks are sending cold front down to cool us off and sending much needed rains.  Guess yuz giz are not too bad.

Will be lazy today.  Resting up from the heat exhaustion from the woods down east.  Can't believe no ticks stuck to me.

Hope all are doing OK.  Prayers for those who are in need.

Chat later.

God bless TCA 05-58541   Benefactor Member of the NRA,  Member of the American Legion,   Retired Boss Hog of Roseyville Laugh,   KC&D QualifiedCowboy
