Good Evening All!

Nice cool breeze blowing tonight. Yanks playing, Rangers and Devils playing, nice night around here! Right now the Rangers just made it 2-0 with minutes to play and the Yanks are playing with Fife's O's in Baltimore. It's funny how there are more Yankee fans in Camden Yards then O's fans. That would tick me off. But they just need to get better and they will come out.

RT - You're just too good to your wife, I hope she appreciates your gifts! Laugh

DougM - Happy B-Day and many more!

HudsonJohn - Make room! More stock is headed your way.

Sunny and high 70's today.

Happy birthday, Mr. Murphy.

Work is starting to get nuts.  We've gotten tons of stuff done lately, but new stuff comes arrives to keep us busy.  The most recent came with 'agressive' timing.  Unfortunately, the timing of the front end activities is not under my control - I can see I'll be shorted for time to get my stuff done.  Trying to 'encourage' those at the front end to keep their @$$(S in gear so I have a reasonable amount of time to do my stuff and not be preceived as being the grumpy old tooling guy.  Does not help that I'm tired and I tend to speak my mind.......

Anyhow - busy is good and the EF promises to remain elevated throughout the summer.  Just hang on and enjoy the ride!

I'm thinking about running my trains - too busy to actually get up to the train room and run them.

All for now.

Good evening.  Little bit of action this afternoon, but not bad.  I am on call for the next week, so hoping they don't kill me.  Went to buy two more chairs for a dining room set that I bought for the bride for mother's day.  For a table and eight chairs, it comes to $4200.00.  Glad we already have some nice furniture, or it may have been substantially more.  Our dining room is square and the table was oval, so wife has been on me to find a round one.

Doug, yeah, it was a lot of photos, but when you use "burst" to take four photos per second, it adds up quickly.  The instructors wanted all the clear photos for the coriography purpose as well as publicity.  There are some that are a series where a dancer is spinning through a jump, etc.  I believe the D90 is rated for 150,000 to 200,000 photos.

Jack, one thing most respectable "expert" photographers will suggest is to always keep the manual with you.  Now days, it is easy to download the manual in a file on a iPad, or other such device, so you can always have it and do a quick search as questions arise.  I have had this camera for several years and there is still things I go back to the manual frome time to time.

Chief, the box is coming along.  My wife has mentioned that she would like to have that outbuilding built to move the layout to for when the kids get older.  We shall see.  Could be ideal for an expansion.

Have a great night,

Dennis

Afternoon all.  Light rains this afternoon.  Had early start with dentist.  Then immediately jumped on the Box.  Exhaust fans mounted in toward each end.  One had to go in the wall and the other did get into the ceiling where there had been a closet.  Ran electrical wires for them.  95% of the ceiling is up.  Cut out in ceiling for electrical wires and etc.  Only have about an hour left to finish that.  Really rolling along if I could keep my "help" all day.  Would have finished ceiling but last exhaust fan was missing damper.  Got to got to Lowes.  Someone had opened box and then re-taped.  They are bad about putting stuff like that back on the shelf. Bang Head

Afternoon fellas and gals:    Now for the hockey update.    Rangers play Devils in the "Garden"  tonite.    Should be a barn burner!  These are two teams that really don't like each other, no hype necessary.     Enjoy the slug fest.    later.

Well Got 4 loads of gravel spread and only about 23 more to go.Stick out tongue

Also loaded up the trailer with a 1,000 gal septic tank, a ditch witch, and bobcat backhoe to haul up North on Wednesday. I will be gone till Sunday. So you guys will get some well deserved peace and quiet. Bow

Sounds like everyone had a great mother’s day. Yes

Mother’s day went well. We spent Saturday at the daughter’s new place. I am so glad they got a house and got out of that infested apartment. Won’t say with what it was infested but there were more than bugs. One time I was there watching the granddaughter and at the same time the people on the third floor were being robed. WTH?

Sunday I let the wifey sleep in, put a card out with a $50.00 in it with instructions to buy stuff from the garden shop then ran to the shed to build the new grill. Success on all fronts. Smile Then we went to see the MIL and I made her some contraband Devil’s-food cupcakes to eat at the home  Devil and we gave the rest to the daughter the day before. Big Smile

And another surprise, My son who Sandra raised since he was 3 called and wished her a happy mother’s day and even told her he loved her. That is something he has not done in 3 years. Surprise

So all in all it went well. Big Smile

The wifey loved her Bobble head horse car.  Angel  So after her bath and a few beers, a glass of wine, she asked if she could run the train it was on. ?????????? Now what do I do?? Oops - Sign

Well enough was enough,so it was,off to bed. Wink

Good morning all,

Been absent on the coffee pot for a few days due to nothing of interest to report.  Stomach problems a little better but still being cautious.

Mothers Day was a big success.  Lots of flowers and steak dinner with deserts.  I cooked the steaks on the new gas bar-b-que.  Third time was a charm.  The meat turned out perfect this time  We had two moms, my wife and DIL.  #2 son returned from Laguna Seco car race near Monterey in time to join us.  #1 son and his family came over and gave mom some DVD's of old Jack Benny and Johnny Carson shows.  Funny to watch all those Lucky Strike commercials on the Jack Benny show.  In those days cigarettes were actually touted as being good for you.  Not so funny was to remember that my Dad died at age 53 and he was a loyal Lucky Strike smoker too.  We were so innocent then. Even now the addiction is so strong it's hard to quit for a lot of folks.

Santa Fe Steam engine #3751 is running today leaving L.A. enroute to Grand Canyon for festivites over there.  #2 son was going to try and photograph it on the way to work.

Happy birthday to Doug MurphyCakeHappy B-DayBeer

Have a good week,

Ray

Good afternoon guys,

A BIG Happy B-Day  Cake  Thumbs Up Doug Murphy & also to Chuck since I missed his last week.

A rather dreary rainy day here.

Granddaughter made us sausage gravy and biscuits for breakfast.  Smile  She sure can cook, also made dinner for us last evening on Mother's day for Nana.

Trying to stay dry today, got parts to fix the fountain, but don't think it will happen today.  The pump died a few days ago.  They only last a few years it seems.

Have a good week.

Jeff........what?  No weekly lawnmower breakdown?  What went wrong? Smile, Wink & Grin  Hope your foot is doing better.  Angel buddy.

I think I got most of the big problems taken care of though there's a lot that can go wrong on a fifteen plus year old tractor. I'm getting some vibration from the mower deck. Could be a bearing issue or simply a bent or out of balance blade. On the foot issue, the pressure wound is healing slowly. I can see some progress being made each time I change the dressing on it. I'm having some bleeding issues with itbut staying off it as much as possible keeps that to a minimum.

Top of the mornin' ya'll and especially to DougM who is celebrating birthday #XX which will remain an unknown number unless (A) he reveals it or (B) someone pays me to violate his confidence in me.  Happy B-DayThumbs UpThumbs UpCakeCakeHappy B-Day

Sounds like everyone had a very enjoyable Mothers' Day and that there were no civilian casualties due to either errors in (gift) judgement or any other unforeseen snafus.  Son-in-law takes the honors for coming up with a stellar restaurant for buffet brunch yesterday.  STRIPERS (one "p" guys) right on the Merrimac River in Salisbury MA. at the river's intersection with the Atlantic Ocean.  The food quality, selection, and service were well over the top, as were the views.  Sunshine and high 70s made for a wonderful family celebration.  Needless to say, I had eaten too much before the third course (desserts).  Staggered out of there and took the wife on the scenic route on the way home.......Route 1 South, a Route familiar to everyone who lives on the Right Coast.

Chuck.......my apologies for what the Boston Red Sox did to your Cleveland Indians over the past three days.  It was a fluke, and I am sure it won't continue.  Fife's and Brent's Orioles continue their amazing start to the 2012 season in the AL East, underdogs for sure.

To the New York and NJ boys........please notice how my Boston sports teams continue to help you keep the Philly sports consortium in their place.  Saturday the aging and battered Celtics, with two starters facing off season surgery (Paul Pierce and Ray Allen), rallied several times from double digit defecits including the last one in the fourth quarter to overcome the 76ers by one!

Blownout........ Angel continue on the outcome of the tests.  Have not said this before, but in my humble opinion doctors should wait until they have a confirmed (with tests) diagnosis before they start postulating about what could be ailing me.  I've been down that road, left me unsettled, for no benefit..........only to find out it was the benign "this' rather than worrisome "that." SoapBox

KEV........  Thumbs UpThumbs Up on your visit to the MIL in rehab.  She will do great with all of the support you and the family provide.  Angel continue.  Why on earth would you even think about dumping and spreading 4 loads of gravel after what you gave your wife for Mothers' day?  Does Jimmy Hoffa ring a bell?  Whistling

8N......re your bikes and bike riding that you and the wifey have commenced,  you will heretofore known as "Lance A.Truck." Smile, Wink & Grin

Rich.........re the Princess FLA trip surprise, take heart.  This is not the most important item on the plate.  Health, job, the Princess' education, and having your daughter with you trumps the other stuff.  You are blessed, and you have overcome a myriad of obstacles the past two years. Thumbs UpThumbs Up

LAZ........t-minus 15 days and counting. Thumbs UpThumbs UpThumbs Up  Hope you don't get up every morning and wet your pants in anticipation!!  Hope you got your porta-potty back from Chuck because at your retirement bash we would prefer not to use your wife's gardens.  We are modest to a fashion,  Whistling]

Dennis.......you're gonna need a new camera, wore yours out! Laugh  Plus you need a server to store all of that stuff!  Laugh  You will be pleased to know I finally took out the instruction manual and began reading up on how to use my new (last November) digital camera.  Better late than never. Smile, Wink & Grin  Must do the same with my android-based LG/Verizon cell phone now, eats batteries like nothing I have ever owned.  At least, I THINK there is a phone somewhere in there. Laugh

Jeff........what?  No weekly lawnmower breakdown?  What went wrong? Smile, Wink & Grin  Hope your foot is doing better.  Angel buddy.

I am going to have to apologize to all who need some positive thoughts and prayers as I have gotten so far behind on posts I don't know who and what I have missed.  So Angel for all those in need.

Later, gang!!!!!!!!

Good morning. It's 66° and partly cloudy. The high will be 82°.

I got news late yesterday that a distant relative of mine is rebuilding an old truck that until recently was holding up his backyard shed that was leaning against it. Today he's supposed to start on pulling the engine. He's going to try rebuilding it. As far as he knows it has a cracked crank shaft. I wish him luck. He has a big job ahead of him. It's a twelve cylinder Packard of the same type that was used in the WW2 PT boats. Where he intends to get parts, I don't know. Packard went the way of the dodo in '58.

I have no idea what I'll be doing today. I'm fresh out of project locos until I find some more parts. I guess today I'll be watching some movies and watching the trains run. It's quite rewarding to watch something you created from junk box parts do what you intended it to do. Yesterday I got a surprise. I had just started on adding weight to a wide vision caboose. I hadn't taken more than a glance at it since I found it packed in amongst a box full of donated freight cars. It looked like a Bachmann wide vision caboose so that's what I regarded it as though I'd never seen one from them in Conrail. Well yesterday I turned it over and looked at the bottom for the first time and discovered that it's an Athearn model. Then I started noticing things like metal handrails and ladders instead of plastic. Right now it's at the end of a string of sixteen freight cars and still in Conrail paint as #22140.

Aloha Paradise and it's a beauty of a day in Chicago. Must be getting better since I could run for the train today! Thanks for the birthday wishes! I'm always going to be 39, Laz - it worked for Jack Benny!  So glad Kev is still alive after Mothers Day Wink  My wife felt honored yesterday - the present I was waiting for arrived that day so I survived too. We bought plants and flowers for me to inadvertently kill later this season. Brutus, I hope you can rest more. Wow, 4K photos. Dennis, I don't think I've taken that many in my life.
