Still looking at that storm on the weather radar. Time for me to get out of here. See y'all tomorrow, IF the cable isn't knocked out all day again.

Had a bad wind storm come about 11:30 this morning. Knocked out power and cable service. Power was back on at 11:34. Cable was out until 8:10 this evening. No excuse for that! <<<<WARNING!!!! RANT FOLLOWS!!!!>>>>There are lots of people out here who have their phone service through Suddenlink, the cable provider in this area. That means for about eight hours these people had no phone service unless they had cell phones to fall back on. And what about those with alert systems to get help if they fall or need assistance? What are they supposed to do? Every time I start thinking about this I want to hit something. It just ticks me off that they wouldn't have some kind of fall-back system in place. <<<<END OF RANT!!!!>>>> I went down tocheck on my mother a few times. She was one of those with no phone service. She has a cell phone but wouldn't you know today was the day the battery decided to die. The charger is in the next room and she has a difficult time getting around so it didn't get put on to charge until someone else plugged it in. Other than that I've been watching TV. I have a satellite dish so I don't have to look at a blank screen when the cable is down. It was too wet to do anything outside due to the rain. It's looking like we'll be getting more rain tonight. I'm looking at the weather radar at a storm system coming across east Texas and it looks like it has us in it's cross-hairs. If it's anything like the one we had this morning, oh boy!. Hope everyone else is having a better day.
71 now, 74 this afternoon. I opened some windows, got some fresh air into the house. Our eye exams went well, she said see you next year. After that we stopped for lunch, split a Reuben and a Mac & Cheese. Had some Banilla with chocolate syrup and peanuts for tonight's snack. Chat time on the thingy is coming soon..S.J.

Wow....this is sad. From the Fords to the Shelby Charger, Daytona Shelby, the Shelby Dakota.....a great innovator, competitor and fabricator.....he was one of a kind and will sorely be missed.

Pat, yes I have and am still thinking about it. I do have a gutter guard on the second floor roof/rear. as its straight up. The 2 front ones I can still get at fairly easy although age is getting in my way now.
SJ - Have you thought of having mesh put on the gutters? I finally did two years ago and what a difference! The helicopters lay on the mesh but can't get to the water to sprout. Sure beats going up a ladder to clean out the gutters.

ChiefEagles KRM: I have had 3 new trucks and some used ones. My last one I special ordered it because I could not find one with the options I was looking for. I buy on the ten year use plan. my old 1978 Chevy LUV rusted away in 8 years. My 1986 Chevy S-10 made it ten years but was very rustey by then. My 2001 Dakota is just now starting to rust at the bottoms of the doors but otherwise is hanging in there with 164K. I had several other used trucks in there too. In NC, you don't have that problem unless you stay drunk and park on the beach all the time. Yeah Chief, we get winter salt rust and you get spring, summer, fall, and winter Ticks. That 1978 LUV was rusting on the ship over here from Japan. Made from old tin beer cans. The 1986 S-10 ws rusting in the showroom.

Jack....... Since the baby bunny ricocheted off the chicken wire and found no access to it's safe spot under our shed it has not been seen in our yard since. Very likely still near by in a neighbors yard and that is fine with us.
One of my co-workers also has major rabbit issues as he lives SE of town in a rural area. He had to alter his Horse/Cow gate to keep his dogs from shooting out onto the road casing them. The gate opening now is too small for rabbits too. The other day his dogs were chasing one right towards the gate and the rabbit hit so hard it bounce so far backwards it end up behind the dogs and took off. Both dogs were completely baffled on where the rabbit went and nearly crashed into the gate themselves.
We enjoy seeing some wildlife in our yard but having a bunny trying to setup residence under our shed was not going to happen. The wire is giving it a choice to pick another yard or we were going to trap it and take it down to the park and let it take it's chance there. The "den" is likely under our neighbors back porch so likely it's now more their issue to decide if it can hang out there or get trapped and moved. Our neighbor is the one that owns the trap but wasn't trying too hard to catch it since it was hanging out in our yard eating holes in the grass and his little kids were enjoying watching it.

Mornin' FellasSo I got an email from TheQ this morning that she called the BMW Dealer to schedule service for a recall, she asked if they had availablilty tomorrow and was told they don't do recall work on weekends... hmmm... ok... so I decide it is time for my email to the Service Manager.Dear Mr. X & Mr. Y:Thank you for reaching out to me concerning my recent experience with {dealer name removed} BMW Service. While I have always been impressed with {dealer name removed} BMW's Sales Staff, I cannot unfortunately say the same with the Service Department. Below is a short list of my concerns.1. I received an email last year indicating that {dealer name removed} BMW was making changes to their pricing structure to become more competitive with local service stations and garages. This past weekend I brought my 2006 BMW 325xi (which I purchased certified used from {dealer name removed} BMW) and was informed there was over $2,650.00 in repairs that were needed on a vehicle with less than 80,000 miles. The repairs were to replace the water pump, coolant thermostat, coolant overflow tank and to replace the transmission pan gasket. Now I fully understand that no two cars are the same, however I have owned at least 10 cars in my life and I have never had any vehicle need these repairs with this few miles on it, heck my previous 325xi had 175,000 miles on it when I traded it in and it never needed these repairs. What I have issue with is the $1,200.00+ labor. There is no way these prices are competitive with other service stations or garages. I doubt I will ever return to your Service Department again.2. My wife has a 2006 525i that needs RECALL service performed. While we were in last Saturday and working with {name removed}, my wife asked about the recall work and {name removed} informed her to call and make an appointment. The recall takes less than 1 hour and could be done on a Saturday. My wife just called to try to make an appointment for this Saturday and was informed that {dealer name removed} BMW does not perform recall service on weekends. My wife has had issues with {dealer name removed} Automotive Group in the past (Toyota) and each and every interaction with {dealer name removed} Automotive Group continues to sour her view of your company. My wife and I are both devout BMW owners and will continue to purchase and drive BMWs, however we are not certain that {dealer name removed} BMW is the right BMW dealer for us. We are continually told one thing, then told another that contradicts what we were originally told. We don't expect the World, but some consistent honesty is appreciated.Sincerely,US--------------------about 15 minutes after hitting {send} I received a call from Mr. X. He was EXTREMELY appologetic. He stated that they do in FACT do recall work on Saturdays and had scheduled TheQ's car for 7:30am tomorrow . He asked for the person's name that told TheQ they don't do recall work on weekends: I could not provide a name, but suggested a general 'retraining' may be inorder - he agreed. He also informed me that he would be researching my repair bill.--------------------Now I don't typically get all worked up about this kind of stuff, but this wasn't the first time TheQ or I have had issues with this dealer, and when I go to speak with Mr X next week I hope to really get somewhere with them. They are by far the most convenient dealer for TheQ and I to deal with, but I will drive to Annapolis if I have to inorder to receive the service we deserve since we are making the investment in these vehicles.
Being able to buy a new car is nice but when all you can afford is a used car you can at least shop around and hope for the best or if you're in the same boat I'm in be happy with what you can get.
Good morning. It's 62° and wet. Rain and scattered thunderstorms. Some thunderstorms may produce heavy rainfall. The high will be 75° with a 90% chance of rain. Well I had planned to mow my parents yard today but that's been put on hold by the rain. It started at 3:30 this morning and hasn't stopped. It's supposed to increase to 100% for tonight and tomorrow. Danged grass is gonna go nuts! While rummaging through the closet I came across another Proto FA chassis complete with a working motor. If I can find another F unit frame I'll have a good start on building another loco. That'll give me something more to think about than the weather.

On used cars,
For my Wife’s last two cars I got them used. The key in this was I got them less than a year old and with less than 13,000 miles on them. Most rentals like to run them up to just under 30K and sell them after they are a year old. In my old job I rented many long term rentals from Enterprise and they would exchange then at that time.
I saved a ton of money doing this and both have been great and still had factory warranties so any problems were cared for by the dealer.
The first one I got like that was a 1994 Pontiac SSEI with a suppercharged 3.8 V6. The list on it back then was 32K I got it for 21K out the door.
This last one is a 2008 Pontiac Torrent GXP with the sport kit and 265hp V6 engine. This was a factory executive driven car. I had them do a Carfax on the Torrent so I could see if it was a rental or not. Same thing on the money savings. List was 34k , paid 22K.
Works for me. I would not be afraid to do it again for my next truck.
Good morning all!
Quick break - a lot of reading this morning. 70 here going to 80 with some scattered showers. Seasonal weather has been quite pleasent. Got about 1/4 inch last night.
Getting ready for M'Day - got restaurant reservations made for Sunday afternoon. For those of you baiting your significant others with train stuff - it was nce knowing you and maybe we will meet someday on the "other side" - - as long as you end up on the "right" side!
Getting closer to HS graduation - 3 band concert events this week - 1 down and 2 to go!
Doug M - great pic from the IRM!
Chuck - glad you had a great B-Day yesterday!
for those in need!
Have a great day all!
Happy Friday CTTFans!
It's 42F and cloudy and only expected to reach the low 50's today with chance of rain for a few days now.
Coffee is again on me today...

Talked with Doug last night before we had to bail out him put son to bed me to go to bed to as 5:30 comes early here lol.
Stayed home after all this am as had a stomach virus. Just as well my cars from choochoo auctions will be coming in today.
Speaking of which I need to start drawing what I want to do as a layout. so I can get a idea of what I need as track and switches. Need to stat doing some planning and building of the layout I guess. Plan to use green indoor out door carpet for covering to start with. The more I think about it I'm thinking O-63 for outside loop and O-54 for inner loop. trying to count it out but believe I'm up to 8 switches and like the look of 100"radius. Time will tell lol
Aloha from a sunny Chicago where it is supposed to get up to 75. Beautiful. Nice if too brief chat with Brutus, SJ and RT last night. Took the youngest to the IRM on the spur of the moment yesterday afternoon - the grounds were open. My grass is growing - yippee! I patched it a few weeks ago and it is growing. Our Dodge Grand Caravan is 12 years old now with nearly 200K miles. We got it from Enterprise sales - it was in pristine shape. I know what you mean about buying other people's problems, and most of the real bargain used cars are long-gone in that cash-for-clunkers deal. I'm pretty impressed with my wife's Kia Sorento - Not a luxury car by any means, but came loaded and 15K miles in, nothing's gone wrong yet. Trying to hint to my wife about what I want for my birthday isn't working. I'm going to make a list

Good morning guys, Weather is going to be a repeat of yesterday and that is great! Never did any gravel yesterday, maybe today, will need to see what Jim is up to. I also did Grub killer, weed killer, and worked around the yard most of yesterday.

Pat, I am blessed that my wife does enjoy the trains. She looks forward to the changes on the layout and has never (YET) complained about my spending habit. I do all of our bills so maybe she just doesn’t know how much I am spending. Sandra has always been supportive of everything I have done over the years. I guess she figures we have been through so much and come out ok then why question things now. Humm, Maybe I should get her something she wants for Mother’s day like a gift card to the garden shop. Spanky, I showed her the M&Ms thing and she loves it too. Prayers to all in need and have a good day.

Good Morning:
A Beautiful Day, Sunny, Comfortable Temps.
Not much going on train wise.
SPMan, Ray, Thanks to SJ, Lemon is my new favorite ice cream. We were talking about and it took my wife and her sister all winter to make it, but the results were worth the wait. Too bad it was the week after York.
Anjdevil, Rich, the ice cream shop is 2 Sister's Ice Cream Stop. It is in Beachwood on Rt. 166 (Atlantic City Blvd) across from High Velocity. It is formarly Mrs. Walker's. They changed the name in January. Also keep an eye on the Company website. They are filling 1 mechanic position here in Edison. We do have more but they are going slow. Just make sure your ASE Certs are up to date.
OFF ALL WEEKEND
Thoughts and Prayers for all in Need.
Happy Belated Birthday Chuck
John
anjdevil2 Chuck!!! Pat, as far as rental/fleet use cars, IF you go to someplace like Enterprise Car Sales, they take the best of the best and retail them. I ran the recon shop in FLA before my relocation and I was tough on the cars. If I didn't like 'em they were sold to dealers. FYI....Enterprise is the largest buy of GM products in the WORLD, and is in the top 5 on everything else. So the odds are, if you buy from a used car dealer or a used car from a dealer, it probably was a rental/fleet car at one time. Brent - No if only more of the owners drove their Beemers like it WAS the Ultimate Driving Machine ...Old Saying: Ban Low Performance Drivers, Not High Performance Cars.... I have driven BMWs, Lexus and MB.....they are all nice. MB performance isn't bad, but you can find most, if not all of the architecture under most Chrysler products....The Durango/Grand Cherokee is M class, and the Charger/300/Challenger are E class. Just for the record: I'll take the SRT8 392 Challenger, thanks. If I had to take a V6, I'll take the Challenger Phoenix engine with 305 horses. Thanks for asking.... OK off to bed....work in 7 hours....NYTOL.....

Exactly why I don't buy used cars.
Good night. One more meeting to go today and its a week. Did Town stuff from 7 to 4 yesterday. Got all my building materials for Box and layout on trailer except Soundstop. That is load in its self. They are holding and storing until I need it. Hope that will be in a week or so. Looks like I may have to finish Box ceiling plaster removal. Grady's wife called and said he was at hospital with his hands hurting. He was suppose to come and visit me and explain. Haven't seen him. Maybe too much "liquid medicine". Friend Fred returns from vacation and we will get the project done.
Got about 25 tick bites. Several look real bad. Big bruses looking places. Bayer is killing grubs. See them on top of the ground. Suppose to work now and keep on for three months.
Sleep tight.
