I'm calling it a night a little early today. Managed to get alcohol in my eyes when I was changing out the dressing on my foot. The cap has one of those flip-top squirt things. I had flipped it up when I got the bottle out and when I picked it up it slipped a bit and I tightened my grip. Big mistake! A stream of alcohol shot of the squirt hole and hit me right between the eyes. That 90% alcohol makes your eyes burn bad. I flushed them real good but they've been aching all day. See y'all tomorrow.

Evening from the Box. Dummy me had not thought of my laptop with wireless sitting in the office. Not anymore. Got Pond Mower fixed. Built both ends of Box benchwork [just the framing] and from workshop door to right wall [as walking in]. No work until Monday. Maybe a small amout or two. Town stuff tomorrow. Later.

Sunny and about 70 today. Clouds rolled in this evening along with some much needed rain.
Played some more with my new SD40 tonight. The sound package on that thing is simply amazing. On start up, you can hear the starter motor turn over, throttle up and you hear what sounds like a turbo charger spool up, An air compressor comes to life from time to time too. I fired up my SD70 for a bit tonight, and that one sounds kind of boring when compared to the SD40.
All for now.
Time for me to call it a night. Thunderstorm came through about 10 this morning and knocked out the power. It came back on after a few minutes then was knocked out again about twenty minutes later. That time it stayed off for about ten minutes. Power stayed on after that. The cable however was another story. It went out when the power went down the first time and stayed out until about 8:30 tonight. I don't get what the problem with the cable service is. Lately (last several months) whenever the power goes down if only even for a few seconds the danged cable stays out all frikkin day! For me that's no internet and no phone. For my parents it's no TV, no internet, no phone, no emergency service, no medic response, etc. I have a cell phone but it's for EMERGENCY USE only, not for conversation. It only has sixty some odd minutes a month on the free service. My father uses his for work only and my mother has never bothered learning how to use hers. Trying to teach an old dog new tricks comes to mind there. I've shown her time and again how to use it but even just ten minutes later it's still a mystery to her. It's rather like trying to teach a cat basic computer programming though I think I could get farther on it with my parents cat than I have with my father. He's doing good to turn the thing on without crashing the hard drive. So you see the dilemma here. Short of going down there to check on them I have next to no way of contacting them when the cable is down for whatever reason and as I said just a very brief power outage will knock it out for most of the day. I'll be in town paying bills tomorrow and I'll be making a stop by the cable office (my bill is paid automatically so I don't have to go there) to lodge a complaint about the lousy service.On the layout front, I pulled the Bachmann light board decoder out of the Rivarossi/Athearn U25C and replaced it with a Digitrax DZ125 salvaged from on e of the FP45's I retired yesterday. The FP45's are both tucked away in the closet now. They'll have to be rewired before they're ever run again but I don't see that happening as they're too big for my layout and it's likely the last layout I build from the floor up. They just could negotiate the 18" radius curves and that's the only size curves I have. There's no room for anything larger. Even going from 18" to 22" isn't possible. Certain sections like the extension can't go any bigger than 18" radius. So the biggest loco I can run is the Trainmaster and it has to have the U30EM645 on behind so the first car doesn't get derailed. The geeps and F units are right at home and the SD27J manages quite well. The SW's love tight curves but I rarely run them. Nor do I use the E units anymore. I pulled the decoders out of them some time back for use in some smaller units and the E's now just hold down display tracks on the shelf, those that I haven't parted out for their motors, shafts and wires. One of the F units has an E unit motor in it as it's a virtual drop-in replacement for an Athearn motor. The motor in the U25C also came from an E unit and the flywheels came from an SD40-2.Well, see y'all tomorrow.

It is rainy in SE Indiana, but did get yard mowed before showers hit. We won our first game last night 4-1. I did ok for me, and we had lots of subs, which really helped. Very busy day at work. TBIL and I can drive. I hope everyone has a good day.

JimProbe, Well I used the POR15 but I don’t have much if any confidence it will help because the rust is coming from the inside and working it’s way to the outside. I did scuff the bottoms of the doors and spray truck bed liner over them to try to hold down the attack, but a Band-Aid at best. I just did the last coat. It looks nice but Rust is a cancer and can’t be fixed unless it is Cut out just like with us. I will let you know how it goes but don’t hold your breath. DougDG My workbench is like something I am anal about. Just ask RIJack how it works, he can type faster than me. My Grandfather on my mom’s side is to blame as to why I am a detail freak. It's 56, still waiting for the rain. The doctor said he got all the skin cancer cells out, so I'm sewn up and sore but not in pain. A nearby city was doing a street rebuild and found the track from the old rail car transit line. They figure 1890s, now all the local historical society's want part of the action. Soup and a sandwich was my supper. That is what this font thing keeps doing to me. So no Banilla yet...I will wait for the thingy guys and chat for awhile..S.J.

Evenin' boys. Sunny & 84 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Not used to these quick post-bys, but until the dust settles after qraduation, they're gonna have to do.
Oldest boy goes for physical this week, then will be headed Mid-July for the CSX training facility in Georgia. He's excited about the opportunity, and even more excited to get away from Maryland. Fifepup still thinking about making a go of it in Myrtle Beach in 2013. Youngest princess may have spine surgery this December. Fifemax at 32 lbs and growing.

Well we got over the 100-Ton mark today and the drive is starting to look a lot better. Got about 50 ton to go till I have spent my allowance for gravel this year. 9 more loads to go. Aloha . Raining and only 46. Too cold for my summer wear. Someone up north was scamming my credit card number but they were blocked by the bank. Glad they got it but what a pain to swap things. We have had some bad experiences here with craigslist and I get tired of the call set up appointment then don't have the courtesy to tell you they can't make then call about a week later to see if you still have to try and low ball you on it I just tell them its sold but have another and quote about 25% more but I found it so much easier just to take it up to the auction house as then its sold as is no questions asked.
Got my GP-9 2383 in and it works great also got my mini switches for switch control and my mini drawf signals I think they will work perfect for what I want will have to see about if they can do a bigger order with maybe a discount as I think I would like to get about another 36 of them but will check later funds not here at moment lol.

Today is EOM so it will be a long day for me, and tomorrow is an early day... gets rough some times.TheQ has to do some work for the board she sits on this Saturday so I decided it is finally time for me to check out The Walkersville Southern Railroad and Museum. It is a small scenic railroad that is only @ 20 minutes away and they run short excursion trains. Figured it would be a perfect 1st trainride for Christina. Hope to have lots of pictures and maybe some video... really looking forward to it.

It is a sunny 68 degrees. Cooled off. Going up to 78 today with sunshine.
Today is a busy day. Wife is grocery shopping. I have some chores to do and then help put all the groceries away. Food prices keep going up. Gas is at $3.69 a gallon. We only used $48.00 in gas for the month of May. That's 28 m.p.g. on a 10 year old car.
