RT,
I was reading about Marty OGR. He was in the hospital, but I didn't see any updates since.
Blownout,
Got the marker lights working, fresh grease, and a fresh battery in the PS1 Turbine. I really don't think it has seen more than a very brief test run since new. Can't beat it for the $$. It is tough to get used to PS1 again after playing with PS2 for so long. Feels like a PC running Windows XP after playing with Windows 7. I'll have to call about the upcoming PS3 Turbine or else I'll regret it.
V8Vega Cold 68 yesterday and 72 today, 82 tomorow. Rock Isl I don't know what a SRX is but a Acura RSX is very possibly in my future. It has a very advanced high RPM engine and is sort of a modern musclecar although my old V8 crowd would bristle at that statement. I put a $400 dent in my Prelude backing out of my driveway and around one of my own cars. Stupid and careless, I am real careful now. Nice of you to put on this money raising event.

It's a Cadillac crossover. First generation 2007 SRX with the third row seating, AWD 6-speed, 4.6L Northstar V8, rear A/C, NAV, DVD/theater pkg. with surround sound, XM satellite radio, heated leather seating, On-Star, drivers' pkg., separate center row HVAC controls It was a lease turn in with 27K miles on it, 45% off the original list just two+ years old when I found it. The depreciation for the first owners of these cars was so bad I couldn't pass it up.
Top speed 144, quick to 60 for a 4,400 pound vehicle (about 6.6 seconds). Towing pkg (4,250 lbs), backup sensors (with warning lights and warning bells to supplement), voice actuated controls, more gadgets than the space shuttle. Oh yeah.....the UltraView sunroof (with express sunshade) is the largest sunroof ever put in a passenger vehicle, opens over the center row passengers as well. Even the center row seats are adjustable.
The second generation SRX (2010-2012) has neither the interior space nor layout configuration for us to get our dog crates in the rear and still have room for 5 passengers. Much slower than mine too even with the 2012's upgraded engine (V6).
Pam and I could not be happier with it, fantastic road trip vehicle, and fun to drive.
Jack

Time for me to call it a night. My niece had a pool party today to celebrate her birthday. Lots of swimming, sodas, beer, grilling and barbeque. The grilling and barbeque got my attention. I ate my fill and brought more home. See y'all tomorrow.

RT - he wasn't at York. I heard he was going to close up shop, but you said he just opened a new store? I'm scratching my head man, dunno.
Had some issues this morning - guess too much rich food the past 2 days. Worked on the basement this afternoon until dinner time. My son helped me hold up long pieces of drywall to "wall in" along the sides of the dropdowns for the ventilation and support beams at the bottom of the stairs. 16 ft on one side, then the other side is broken up into a box about 4 by 6, which is all done and ready for the drop ceiling after I mud and tape it. We still need to do about a 4 foot wide by 20 inch section right at the bottom of the stairs with an angled part, then clean up the edges and do a few other little chores.
Feet hurt from being on the ladder so long - blah.
BoC - Prayers!
TARDIS will be ready soon, so suit up!

Good Evening
It was an interesting day filled with lots of paperwork and getting new equipment stuffed into our office plus getting some more stuff done at the church........then off to the cafe to rest one's beleagured bones then off to get some more groceries to cover for tomorrow's operating session and BBQ..
I started my sick leave this weekend because, well, it is radiation/chemo next week..and I need time to get some things done before I am too ill or some such.......but I am still going to get some photos done next week of some of the layout....

Ohayō,
We had a busy Saturday yesterday. The baseball team had a game in the morning; the kids played okay but could have stayed more focused during the game. I finished transplanting some shrubs and planting new bushes in the yard. At night, we had a neighborhood cookout which was very fun. We should have a very relaxing Sunday today. It is sunny and warm outside and we will attend Sunday school and church in a couple hours. I believe I will have a nap afterwards and then do some reading. I’m hoping my digital version of the latest CTT is ready for download today or tomorrow.
Jack – Good on you for initiating that event. I’m glad your hope in people has been restored. I believe most people care but we only here about the negative events.
RT – I hope your back is feeling better.
Kev – The ladders look great. The owners of the UTB RR may have to put in an order for a couple of those fuel tanks.
Doug M. – Congratulations to your son and you.
Sayonara,
Joe
anjdevil2: Got to hand it to the Devils. They played a smart series. They'll be meeting a 'rested', maybe 'rusty' team. We'll see. All the best.
Aloha. . Great day. Middle boy graduated from high school. As many of you know, there were times I thought he wouldn't make it. I am .... relieved. Setting up the trains to run for his graduation party tomorrow. Here's all three kids together (a rare sight these days) .

Jack I look at my 2003 Chevy silverado it has 170,000 miles on it. has a few dings ( I was second owner) has small rust hole in rear bumper ( they were know for that from what I hear) I need to detail interior, wash and wax it but i have no plans of getting rid of it as here I would be shooting myself in the foot. as it is I pay like $200 a year for tags and taxes on it. If i would get a new vehicle that would go way up. I'm happy with what I have.
Its a full size 6 passenger truck. has the half doors for the rear as I call them but theres plenty of room back there. 6'4" bed.
small V-8 I think its the 307 its something like 4.7 litter I think. maybe 5.2 I don't remember with the litter numbers give me the old 307, 283, 327 ect
Has enough power and get up and go for me. @ wheel drive ( don't need 4 x 4 down here or at least I don't. )
Not much going on here.
Went back to ER spent about 4 hrs there today was given different meds for my tenderness on my back. told to take it easy for the rest of the weekend so was given a excuse from work.
Well need to get a few things going talk to you all later
KRM RockIsland52: KEV......a Kia gets scraped, scratched, dented, and bashed too. I detest driviing a vehicle that looks like it went through the wars, especially when someone else's carelessness caused it......and then they skip. When I hit 100K miles and/or 6 years on a vehicle, I like it to look and run close to what it was when it was new (or new to me). I drive them longer than most, 10-12 years, before moving on to the next one. My Dad instilled in me these things......by putting me at a young age in charge of doing all of the washing, inside/outside cleaning, and waxing. His attitude? "Dog vomits in the car and slobbers all over the windows? No problem.....Jack, go clean it up like it didn't happen." Jack I am with you Jack. I can’t stand to be seen in a wreck on wheels. I have kept the Dakota in what I think is nice shape considering I use it as a truck, a lot. Hauls the cargo as needed. I am at a crossroad with her now. She is starting to get the one problem you can’t ever win from. RUST. I have told myself I will just let it rust and keep driving it but I find myself looking at the new Chevys a lot. Still not bad for 165K and 11.5 years.

Now THAT looks pretty sweet for pushing 12 years. If it were me, I'd seriously consider investing a few hundred bucks in repairing the rust spots since 165K isn't too high mileage by today's standards. The price and depreciation (and sales tax and insurance) of buying something new or newer makes R&Ring what you have very attractive bargain, money well spent. IMHO!!!
I do that every so often when the wife is out of town, don't tell her.....take my car in and have a couple of things done at the body shop. She thinks cars just stay looking new all by themselves with just regular washing. In this way I don't have her moaning "We need a new car!!!" when I hit triple digits and/or 10 years with a vehicle. If it looks good and everything still works in the car, she's fairly content.
The 2007 SRX came back from the body shop this week and looks better than the day I bought it in 2009 @ 27K miles. Just turned 70K. But since it is my "hauler" the inside could use a carpet shampoo......the rest inside is really clean.
Afternoon all!
Hot here. 92 so far. Finished the front yard work - moving soil, etc. The old tree ring has a lot of the tree roots (big) and a "bowl" from the first stump grinder work. Originally we used the old ring for a flower bed but after years it got so weed choked and the drought finished off the plants. Will have to get the stump grining/tree trimming guy out after the graduation party next weekend. Moved 4 large decorative stones from the old beds that were isolated in the yard after we removed the beds. Was able to drag and pry them into a poistion as part of the remaining tree ring. Worked the stones into the decorative landscape brick wall/ring. Worked from 8 until 2:30 with a short break at 11 for breakfast. Tired but gald it is done.
Watching the NASCAR Nationwide race. NASCAR and Indy tomorrow.

Remember the vets.
Have a great day all!

Good afternoon all,
IIABSDISEI with temps in the 90s. Yesterday was a monumental day. I closed out my dad's account. Kind of appropriate timing so close to the "Greatest Spectacle in Racing". Looking forward to the race tomorrow although not looking forward to the heat. Could be an endurance race for the fans and drivers alike. We are in the shade for most of the day so it will not be as bad as for those bleaching in the sun. Work has been extremely busy and even Friday was much more productive than it should have been when I close the month. I did go on my daily walk at lunch, but when I came home, I crashed big time. All I did was sleep and I have done little today as well. Too hot to do anything outside. The dog seems to appreciate the back porch A/C, and it appears to be working ok. Going to Mass in a bit to pray for a safe race. Not too optimistic about any of my favorites winning, but this could be a different type of race. Would be hilarious if the two Loti were the only ones running at the end, but I think they will be black flagged early for going too slow.
I got my CTT today. I have not read it all, but I will do so in the next few days. Have not ran trains in so long. Will have to do that as well sometime. I will have to get more involved here again. Just cannot find the time or the energy. Not sure why. I guess we all go thru lulls in activity.
I have rambled on enough. If either Sarah's or AJ's team wins tomorrow, look for a couple of red shirted fans jumping up and down in Grandstand A. The key numbers are 14 ,39, 41 and 67. TBIL and I can drive tonight, but we will be circling 16th and Georgetown all night long. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Today I'm inspecting two new acquisitions. Two commemorative proofs. An 1854-S Double Eagle and a 1933 Saint-Gaudens $20 Gold Double Eagle. As far as it is known not a single example of an 1854-S Douple Eagle was saved. Out of 141,468 coins struck not a single one was saved. Only one original proof coin is known to have been struck. On the 1933 $20 Double Eagle, they have been the stuff of legend. They were made legally but were illegal to own as soon as they were made. It shouldn't exist but it does. Nearly half a million were struck in 1933 despite FDR's recall of all gold coins. They never circulated and remained in storage until they were ordered destroyed in 1937. A few were pocketed by mint employees but the theft wasn't noticed until 1944. Nine coins were recovered but one escaped. What happened to it afterward is for you history buffs to track down. Wikipedia has quite a bit of information about it.
V8 Dennis, I think Colorado has the most liberal gun laws in the country. Reminds me of that other law they have in Florida about standing your ground etc. While these laws are good for the citizen who is trying to protect himself from a real threat, they also have the downside of tragedies like the one you mentioned. I think that name "Make my day" is a rather flip description of a very serious thing. Dumb!
Although my procedure went well at the hospital on Thursday, they did find some issues which I am dealing with now. It all comes under the umbrella of Irritable Bowel Disease. There is no cure so all they can do is treat the symptoms and the goal is to keep you in remission as much as possible. The doctor put me on some medication in addition to what I was already taking. All I can do is what the doctor says and hope for the best.
My #2 son was out yesterday taking some pictures in Arcadia, California of demolition work just started on the former Santa Fe 2nd district that runs from San Bernardino to L.A. Where they are taking up track. It's where the new Gold Line light rail line will run. My son has tried to document all the changes that have occured on this line over the last decade or so. He may do a book on it someday. They also have to remove some single track bridges and build new ones for double track. The new bridge over the 210 Freeway is already well under way with construction due to be completed this summer. They are going to build about 8 1/2 miles of double track with catenary for the new light rail cars ending this phase in Azusa, California. Eventually this line will go all the way to the Ontario International Airport. However, Azusa would be close enough for me to catch it.

Ray

Changed out the shell on the third chassis of the F unit trio. It's now sporting a Varney F3B shell, so that makes the second and third unit with Varney shells. They're a bit easier to pick out as they're not only a bit rougher looking but they're also slightly longer than the Athearn or Stewart shell. The Stewart F3B is about forty-nine scale feet from the front of the roof to the rear of the roof and the Varney's are about fifty-one scale feet.
Good late morning to everyone. It is supposed to be a tad on the warm side today. THey are calling for 97, but who knows. We will be going over to a friend's house for a little swimming with the kids. I also need to stop off and get some paint for the new kids' room. Still not set on color, but best get something up there.
Rich, I noticed that most of my Ranger friends are silent today on FB. Wonder why Glad the Devils pulled it out, but so many friends are Ranger fans, I try to stay out of the fight.
Laz, hope you enjoy these last few days. Take it for all it is worth. Have you decided what you will do with all the spare time?
Hope everyone has a blessed day.Dennis

Already 70F going to a high of 77F and sticky....
Got a bunch of runnin' 'roun' to do so I better be off and doin' this!!
CYLTR!!!
Good morning. It's 70° and partly cloudy. The high will be 95° and it'll be sunny. So far I have the layout partially cleaned up and I've found a couple of items that had gone missing. I'm program the Athearn/Proto GP35 this morning. It's going to be permanently mu'd with a Front Range/Athearn/Proto/Proto Power West/Walthers GP9. Neither one by itself is heavy enough to pull more than nine or ten cars but both together can pull twenty or more. No other plans for today.
Good Morning from Blueberryhill RR....
It is a sunny 74 degrees. Going up to 90 today with sunshine. It's gonna be hot.
Today is an easy day. Wife is driving up to Smithville, to spend the day with her niece. I have a few chores to do and then, I will take it easy. I may do some reading and spend some time ouside before it gets hot. Nap later.
Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Saturday.

Time for me to call it a night. I got the Athearn/Proto GP35 converted to DCC. The U25C will go back on the display shelf as DC as the other decoder was dead. Didn't get much of a chance to clean up the layout. Maybe tomorrow. Had chimichangas and chili earlier today. Topped that off with two big slices of watermelon this evening. See y'all tomorrow.
Evening all!
End of a very long week. Glad it is over.
Hot. Hit 95 again today. 93 for the weekend. Winds here were hitting 40 mph yesterday and high 20's today.
Not much planned for the weekend. Continue some heavy yard work. On that front - got a ridiculous quote to dig out the soil I have piled up and reshape/gradeabout 4-6 inches of soil out of the side yard, reset the sprinklers, and resod it. Have to think about it.
for those in need.
Have a great evening all!
