NORFOLK, Va. — To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Norfolk & Western/Southern merger in 1982, Norfolk Southern plans to honor many of the railroads that make up the present day NS system. As Union Pacific did a half-decade ago, NS plans to create a fleet of heritage locomotives, though NS’s plans are bigger: 18 units honoring a wide variety of predecessor roads. The locomotives will be 10 SD70ACes on order from EMD that are being constructed at its Muncie, Ind., plant, and eight ES44ACs from an upcoming order for 25 units from GE. While EMD will paint all 10 heritage units in-house, NS forces will paint the eight GEs. The railroad’s Altoona, Pa., shop will paint five, while the Chattanooga, Tenn., shop will handle three heritage units. The 18 predecessor railroads selected for heritage paint are: • Central of Georgia• Conrail• Erie• Erie Lackawanna• Leigh Valley (red)• New Haven (not definite yet)• New York Central• Nickel Plate Road• Norfolk & Western (blue)• Penn Central• Pennsylvania (Tuscan Red)• Pittsburg & West Virginia• Reading• Savanna & Atlanta• Southern• Tennessee, Alabama & Georgia• Virginian• WabashNS plans to recreate the paint schemes as accurately as possible. By contrast, UP used the old railroads’ logos and colors, but created new interpretations on the old liveries.
I can't wait to glass a few of these units. As much as I like Conrail, I definitely want to see the PRR, LV and RDG the most out of the Heritage fleet.

Chuck..........the local Ohizo Hazmat crews and top level officials had to be called in on this one. The grits are currently being held under quarantine at the nearby nuclear power plant alongside the spent nuclear fuel rods. The spent radioactive fuel rods then got contaminated by the grits !

I can't wait to see those Wabash units. Do you think the railroad remembers when my grandfather stole coal from the Wabash to heat his house during the depression and hold that against me? During the depression when the trains slowed down, they would jump on the hopper cars carrying coal and throw it off on to the ground. Later they would pick the coal up with gunny sacks and use it in the stove to heat the house.

Good evening everyone. Checking in from a cv surgery meeting at Sanibel Island, Florida. Temps have been in low 80s and it is beautiful! First time here, but it is a nice place. Haven't found any train stores to visit, but I have been busy with meetings while family takes in the beach.
Chief, can't believe you would make such nasty statements! Glad they were able to block the page!
Gotta get to sleep, long day of meetings tomorrow.
God bless,
Dennis

Make that two. That's the last for today.
It got pretty warm in STL today - I think it was in the 50s? All the snow is gone, but with all the rain and melt it is pretty muddy/wet out. I stopped at LaZBoy today, but they don't have parts in the store. I called the repair people and they are sending me a replacement part, including the arm and the little end piece that I actually need. I also found out that the only way to get rid of this repeating error message on my phone was to reset it. I updated the operating system and ever since I kept getting some kind of tether error message? I reset and it restored my phone contacts twice? Anyway, I reset again and I think I have a handle on it, but I will have to reload some apps I had. Oh well, just another day in paradise.
TARDIS will be ready in a while, just waiting for some beacons on the scope!

jeffrey-wimberly I thought this to be worth sharing so I posted it on the MRR forum showing TMCC Man as the original poster. I won't take credit for another mans work.
Jeffery you had better give some credit to Seayakbill then He posted it first on the forum. http://cs.trains.com/TRCCS/forums/t/202945.aspx
Not much happened today. Sun did come out and it hit 50.
Dentist tomorrow for more work on the broken tooth crown deal.

Time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.
Evening all,
Everyone, I got my information from an email that was sent to me from a friend. It's my understanding that the information was first reported by TRAINS magazine. If I offended the magazine, I am sorry for that.
Buckeye: it's funny you mention that. My neighbor, while he didn't steal coal, used to hop on flatcars when he was a kid (He's 40 something now) and used it to go to school in the mornings. I thought that was kinda funny, but then again I'm not really surprised he had done that before.
I'm on my 2nd Redbull today so I can knock out a few papers that are due next week. I'm painting all day tomorrow and I won't be home for most of the weekend, so I want to get the assignments completed tonight.
Talk to you guys later!
Evening all!
Long day today. Cooler today (50's) but nice. More rain on the way. Bring it on.
Cabella's in Buckeye Corners - OMG
Hope all are well and have a great day tomorrow!

Good night. Dr. called. Its pneumonia. Stayed in starting at noon as the rain moved in. Good showers all afternoon. Warm and foggy now.
Buckeye, your confession on your Grandfather is a matter of record now. Since you are the closest living relative, warrants are being issued for you. No statute of limitations on Rail Road crime.
Off to bed. Town retreat all day.

David.........the Chief makes up the rules as he goes along. It's a Southern thing.
Chief.........lay low. for your recovery. Jeffrey did not take all of your stash for UltraLite fuel and refreshments on his return flight to Sundown. He left you a couple of jugs. They were sitting right next to the still on top of a wooden box marked "Fresh Road Kill" and were marked "Eagles Nest Vintage December 2011."
Partly sunny and in the 40's today.
Long day at the plant today. Productive though. Looks like I got my new product samples run in time to keep me out of the plant this weekend.
I sniped a Burro crane on e-bay the other night. Reasonable price. Is one of the re-releases from a few years ago.
All for now.
P.S. Chief - Yankees like me, who grew up in Michigan, can tell the difference between snow and grits. While you will fool some folks in these parts, I'll be able to set them straight and help orgainize the retaliation return for of the mess goods to their point of origin. Remember, we've got the B2's at Whiteman near by. You'll never see it coming.........
David......Thank you very much for that sterling defense. Where were you when I really needed you several weeks ago with the Roseyville Police on my tail in North Carolina per direction of the Chief?
TGIF.... What a week! Party time!!!

Hello all,
TGIF!!!!!!!!!
Been a long week.
Chief, take care of yourself.
Mrs & I had a late Valentine's date last evening to avoid the crowd. Took in the 4:30 showing of The Vow. Then a nice dinner.
The boy I mentioned last weekend is home from the hospital and doing fine. Thanks again for your prayers.
Not much planned for the weekend. Hope to get the Oliver put back together.
SS fund calls. Maybe I'll get back over the weekend.
Prayers for those in need.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill RR....
It is a frosty 34 degrees. Going up to 48 today.
Today is a busy day. I have a bunch of chores to do and an errand to run. I will take a nap after lunch. Not much else new.
Buckeye & LAZ....... TGIF
Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Friday.

Konbanwa,
I attended the base's annual awards show tonight. A few of my folks were up for awards but unfortunately they did not win. On the way home it was flurrying a little, but Chuck needs to turn up the snow cannon. I am looking forward to this three-day weekend.
David - Congratulations on starting the career.
Colin - I am excited about the LV and RDG versions as well.
Banks - That's great news on the boy.
Sayonara,
Joe
Good morning all,
IIABSDISEI with temps in the 40s after the fog leaves. Took it easy again last night. Will be a busy weekend. I heard the Lionel RTR catalog was making the rounds at the Toy Fair. Any rumors floating around it? TMCC man good to see you posting frequently again. Your enthusiasm for life is most welcome here. Not much else to report. Will be a busy weekend on the home front. I had the regular fare for breakfast. TBIL. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Aloha . The sun is shining and it might get up to 50 today. TGIF. Yippee! Took the youngest to see the Star Wars 3D movie yesterday. he bought his light saber and we had the theater to ourselves. I also go a check from the Union Pacific! They run my commute line on behalf of Metra, and I had to turn in a ticket about the expire. I get a kick that they still have a Passenger Line Accounting Department.

Bright sun and 34 degrees now.
No news, just checking in...S.J.
Good morning, Bright sun and the frost is melting off of the shed roof in a hurry. Going to hit 50 again today here in North Central Illinois. Nice day to be sitting in the dentist chair. Chief: You had better take care of that pneumonia. Have you ever got the shots for it? As I understand once you get it is much easier to get again and again. Germs in the south never die. Y’all need a good –10 snap of Yankee weather to clean that air up. Jeffery: It wasn’t a big deal I am sure Seaykbill got the information someplace else just like Colin did. BTW How is your foot doing? My new foot medicine is actually working and I may not have to live like a shut-in soon. David. Nice rebuke on the law according to the Chief. Buckeye is safe for now. Can I get hold of you next time I cross the line with the Chief and his home brewed laws?? Sounds like you have your work cut out for you in the new work adventure. Good luck. Colin: We used to hop the trains to when I was a kid to cross town in the 60s because we knew they would not speed up till they got out of town. It was fun, but looking back it was stupid. Roy: Are the lakes filled back up yet? RIJack: I like you updated Avatar
