Yes Doug, those were the days.  Getting ready to head in. Finally Friday! Been texting with one of the ladies in China who is taking care of our son.  As you can imagine, they are a charitable organization and need some medicines, etc.  I am going to hit up the pharmaceutical reps for some donation of medicine to care for the babies.  On a train related front, on Facebook, there is a site called "vintage Bergen County" that has a bunch of old train photos from the county I grew up in.  From old train station photos, to actual steam engine and trolley photos.  Very neat to look at.

Gotta run, God bless,

Dennis

Good Morning.

Wet flurries ending this morning then 60% chance of showers this afternoon.

Angel to all those suffering from the latest storms across the US....Sad

Going to try to finish off the transfer of all my stuff from the old computer to the newer computer today..got the email from a couple of the companies that I need to reauthorize the programs from last night so that will get done this morning...

Jack:  We had our dog tested for that as well(hypoparathyroidism) as he did exhibit some of those very symptoms..he did have it...it might just be one of those things though as well..some dogs/cats just have some skin issues....

Good Evnin' Y'all From Pick Your Own Forecast Taxachusetts,

Since my last post, the forecasted snow accumulation is back down to 4-6 inches total for my locale.  Why I bother to pay attention to it I don't know.

Dennis.........What we have been trying to do with Maximus' skin issues and thinning hair is do as little as possible differently.  Since he gets these stints and then they pass, and nothing changes in his diet (including supplements), the vet has been able to be fairly certain the source of the issue lies elsewhere.  Antimicrobial dog shampoo takes care of the skin bumps and dander within a matter of days.  The skin scrapings reveal nothing.  We haven't even changed laundry detergents for his bedding or the dog towels, though we set the washing machine for a second rinse.  Low Winter humidity?  He got this the last time the Summer before last and it was gone by October.  I did some reading and wonder if he might have a mild case of hypothyroidism, could kick myself I ddidn't have him tested for that earlier this month when he was in for his annual vet visit.  re your product suggestion, we are considering adding more oils to his diet and something for the joints since he is a very active dog.

Off to bed!

Jack

Storms were far away from us, thankfully.  Prayers for those who were hit, hurt and killed though.  One guy on tv was in a car that was rolled over and over by the wind.  he made it, but the car was really a mess - he was really lucky!  Good news, 8N!  Prayers for all who are sick or hurt right now - thankfully, I'm doing a lot better today.  Work was okay, just stayed at my desk as much as possible.  Char is doing well - she has her follow-up eye appointment tomorrow.  My friend Vickie is doing better and they are thinking about a different chemo regimen.  Also I fixed my chair and interestingly I had to replace a lost cotter pin with a bobby pin and some tape around the end to hold it closed Laugh  I think it will hold for years to come, but I might stop at ACE and pick up a replacement pin sometime or other!

TARDIS is ready, so let's get moving!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Sunny, windy and in the 60's today.  The severe storms missed our part of Mo. last night - prayers for those who that the storms did not miss

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers for mom, all.  She is looking better every time I make it to Michigan for a visit.

The box of bits & pieces from the Train Tender arrived while we wer traveling to Michigan.  Now I have parts for the Burro crane I recently got on e-bay and a couple of operating milk cars that need a little attention.

All for now.

Good evening everyone.  Got back from violin with the kids and dinner with the family.  Upon coming home, son wanted to play cards.  At first, the rotten kid was kicking my butt, then the cards came in my favor and the old man pulled one out.

Jack, you are right, we don't know how much it means to them till you see there face on the stage.  We have always placed high priority on being there for the kid's events.  I think we missed one event between both kids in all the years.  We also try to take time that is special to each such as my wife volunteers for the kids doing A R readings and for helping out in the classrooms.  We have also been known to surprise them with lunch at school.

Rich, is that still called Raceway Park?  Been a very long time for me.  My dad used to race there and out on Long Island many moons ago.

Well, should be a light day tomorrow.  With any luck, I will finish with some projects and get ready for our son having his best friend over for the weekend.  We really like his family and plan to get together Saturday night.

Regarding the incident in Ohio, it really is a shame.  Back when we were kids, if you had a problem with someone, you just arranged for a little after school gathering and kicked a little butt.  I know I mentioned it here a few weeks ago, but I really believe it goes back to how kids are desensitized toward killing.  Between video games and movies, they have no moral compass.

Anyway, enough of the soapbox.  I pray that each of you has a blessed night.

Dennis

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps near 70.  Been away from the forum a couple of days.  Work was busy yesterday and then the intestinal bug hit yesterday afternoon and last night.  Spent the day at home.  Worked on taxes this afternoon.  Local savings and loan messed up 1099-R.  They said it would be ok.  Talking to the IRS tonight said otherwise.  Should have worked on this sooner.  They simply have to redo the form.  Talk about a FUBAR.   Not much else going on.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

It's 79 here in the piney woods of west central Louisiana. The weather guesser has been talking about rain all day. Haven't seen any yet but he says it's still out there and may put an appearance tonight. No work on the layout today.

Howdy, guys,

Quick sip of caffeine and I'm off.

Jeff - Are you getting hazardous duty pay for that?  Glad you're better.

8N - Good news on your Mom!

Brutus - Also good news for Char, hopefully you're getting better.

Ray - You too, buddy!

Angel for youse giz, I've missed

Sad about the Ohio deal.  NOT good.

NASCAR?  Oh, yeah, that series that doesn't allow MOPAR HEMI power 'cuz it's UNFAIR to the whiny Chevy guys....(Mr. Hendrick, you payin' attention?)

I'll watch some, but I'm partial to the Drags, more power and different powerplants.  At least a MoPar will have a shot....which, BTW, I just got passes for Saturday at Englishtown in June..SUPER psyched for that.  I'll more than likely be on the Fire Crew for Sunday's eliminations..

That's all from cold rainy Jersey......

Happy Leap Day....

Good Afternoon From Snowy Cape Ann Taxachusetts,

Things are back to normal with the meteorologists.  They changed their forecasts again last night.  The sky is once again falling.  The local news has become half weather.  The anchor woman is reminding everyone how to drive in the snow.  And I am supposed to get about 5 inches into tomorrow with wind gusts to 45MPH. Big Smile

Brutus.......hope you are safe.  The news just reported that an EF4 tornado has killed 6 in Harrisburg IL. 140 miles East/Southeast of you.  Hope you were not affected. Angel.

8N........the news on your Mom's progress was great.  Bet she is happy with this turn of events. Angel

DougDG........you made a strategic mistake with the crud by waiting.  That gave your wife the ideal opportunity to jump in and take matters into her own hands.....and then tell you "I told you so!!!"  GET WELL!!! Smile, Wink & Grin

RT........ya got your Gargraves track and are now good to go with the ceiling layout!  Good stuff.  If it were me, I would wind up short of track by about 3 inches. Stick out tongue

HumptyJeffrey...........what a great fall!  Ouch!!!!  Hope you are feeling better, but it sounds like this escapade might take some additional recovery time.  Hope your Dad has that mower repair moving forward.  The grass isn't going to stop growing, and he will need that mower to fill in for you while you are on the IR.  Prayers you are doing OK. Angel

Dennis..........the gift of each day.  So true.  Thumbs Up  I just got back from my granddaughter's 3rd grade "singing" concert.  I hear you when you say how important showing up is to the little ones, no matter what is on the plate.  My granddaughter wore a huge frown and worried look on her face when we first walked into the crowded auditorium.  Then it was like someone flipped a switch in her, all smiles, as soon as she saw us. Thumbs Up

Chief......will you please straighten out Dennis' transportation arrangements to China and back on your jet?Whistling

RaySP.........that was exceptionally good and uplifting news on your sister. Thumbs UpAngel  On the reverse side of the coin, I was sad to hear you had to run your furnace last night.  What you Californians have to suffer through!!!  I'll bet you even had to put on a pair of socks to keep your feet warm.  You do have socks, don't you?  Or is that a Yankee thing? Laugh

KEV.......my wife asked me "Who is this KRM person who keeps sending you "private" messages?!" Wink  You have her wondering.  Was glad to hear that your wifey's back is finally getting better.  Angel

Blownout and LAZ.....hearing issues from playing in bars too much?  I thought you got drinking issues from playing in bars too much. Beer Whistling

LAZ........what is the single month record for the number of posts on the POT?  We were only playing with 29 days this time.  Must be some kind of record this month anyway.

Gotta run!  Later, gang.

Jack

Just received my gargraves track I ordered so now time to get the material to build a jig to bend my other track to make my O-54 curves for my ceiling layout. ( will use new track for my straight aways) Hope I figured correctly for what I feel I needed to make this. yeah think so with this it will give me 22 1/2 35" pieces to do a 16 x 14 loop.

So now when the manufacture says min. O-54 is he talking for center rail, inside rail, or outside rail I always get that mixed up lol I'm guessing middle but not sure.

Well looks like were going to be 70 pages befor all is said and done today maybe 71 boy can we talk a lotLaugh

Mornin' Y'all.

Sounds like some GOOD news on here this morning. Thumbs Up

The Better Half convinced me to go see the Doc today, this crud just does not want to let go and she is concerned about pneumonia. Fortunately she worked me into the schedule this afternoon.

Chuck, Thumbs Up on SPF.

Bad weather in the midwest looks really bad and now they are saying the same scenario could be on tap for friday. Angel

Time to wrangle up my morning pills, see ya later.

Good afternoon guys.  Quick stop for a cup before getting to the list of things for my wife.  Ray, good news on your sister.  Big thing is quality of life and what she does with the time.  I am sure she will use it well.  Have my friend's dad with the brain tumor.  All is going as good as it can right now, so best advice is to enjoy the gift of each day.

Chief, enjoy the lake.  They say we have quite a storm heading our way by the weekend.  Hope it is not too bad, still cleaning up after the last battle with nature.

Well, about all I have time for.  Hope each of you has a blessed day.

Good morning all,

Got some good news yesterday about my sister with the cancer in North Carolina.  She called and told me that her oncologist has reevaluated her survival time.  At first she was only given between three and six months to live.  The doctors are now saying that she could have years, not months.  In fact her doctor said that some of her patients with the same type of cancer have survived for ten years.  This has given my sis a new lease on life.  I want to thank all the folks on the forum who have been praying for her.  It appears that someone up there is listening. My sis has been responding very well to her treatments.  Right now the cancer has been stopped where it is and is not spreading...So far none of her organs have been affected.  I told her that she might outlive me and I hope she does.

Another cold night and day here but we are coping.  Sun is out though and it's a nice looking day.

Buckeye, sympathy to the folks in your state about the school violence.  Lord knows we have had our share of it here too.

Jeffrey,  glad you're OK.  From now on you better work with a net.

later,

Ray

Boy, I'm seeing reports of snow, ice, wind and all sorts of weather I don't want. It's a nice warm 70 down in Louisiana and you folks are welcome to it. Only problem is you gotta come here to enjoy it. Still, it's a lot better than snow and ice.

Good Morning CTTFans!

It's 28F heading for 54F and sunny skies.  Got a light dusting of snow mixed with hail (It's February right?) and they say we might get some more Thursday.  Looks like the February Snow Fall record for Denver set in 1912 will hold up but 2012 will be #2 on the list.

Aloha Paradise. Happy Leap Day! Whew! It's warm in here: almost 80 - Asked the F.O. guys to come turn off the steam heat because it's also 55 outside - yippee!  Got home late last night, cooked dinner, then practiced shoe-tying with the youngest. Ran out of time to run trains so just repaired some things around the house with the Six Nations Rugby Championship in the background. Sounds like everyone's on the mend.

Morning from lake house on cell. Rainy and warm. Heard of storms in MO and IL. Thought of our gang that lives in tbose states. Hope all are OK. Built Wifey's dock flower bed. Treated 2X8's with power pole sections standing up on corners that make it look like dock pilings. Hope all stay safe from storms. Later

Leap Year day. Always reminds me of Sadie Hawkin's Day. But the web site says that Al Capp wrote it into his comic strip in November. No plans for the day, did the shopping yesterday...S.J.

Edit: Somebody remind the Chief that tomorrows the first of the month.
