Big congrats, Chief! You deserve to win.
Roy - good luck on the nerve, I hope it's okay!
Ray - sounds like you had a good trip, glad you are back safe and sound!
Watched Hell on Wheels - I have a feeling based on some books I have read that it is somewhat historically sound, but they have really tweaked it up and made it over-the-top. Lots and lots of graphic violence, too. I liked it, but not sure how it will last as a series. Maybe it's just meant to go one season or is a mini-series?
TARDIS is ready for launch and we have some banilla and also Klondike bars. We have Old Mills, but we are out of Eagles Nest???
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Evenin' All.
Been a very quiet day today, very tired so didn't do much. Did try to figure out a problem w/one of my Atlas SD-35's, looks like a a power spike while traversing a turnout at the museum damaged a TMCC board. Plan on sending it to Atlas for work, it has a couple other issues that I don't really feel comfortable tackling. If it involves soldering no thanks, when I solder it ends up looking like a seagull with a spasdic colon decided to let loose.
Chief, Congrats on another term.
Trying to watch the CMA show but there just seems to be to much Las Vegas in it.
Brutus, Must be an "old age thing" but I do not care for the newer genre of movies/shows with all graphic/gorey violence. My favs are still the old Boris K. and Bela L. style flicks.
Wow, talk about sticker shock: http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/2011/nov/09/reformer-feels-shock-anxiety-over-bullet-trains-bi/ .
Ray, Welcome home, glad the trip went well. Just in time to welcome the yuck weather coming in this weekend.
Rich, Best wishes on the new job, prayers it turns into a full time position.
Brutus, Since you are out of Eagles Nest the local Bevmo is still open, could pick-up some Moose Drool.
Nite all.

Konbanwa,
I've been very busy today since we starting moving into our house. Tomorrow, we are off to IKEA; I have no idea how long it will take us to drive there, but it's only about 30 miles away. I'll post more tomorrow; I'm pretty tired right now.
PSU fired JoePa. He should have told the police and not just the AD. He should have known better, but I didn't think they would fire him. I figured they would let him resign at the end of the year. What a way for his career to end.
Sayonara,
Joe
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a cold and cloudy 34 degrees. Only going uup to 48 today with cloudy skies.
Today is an easy day. I have a buunch of paperwork to do and the usuual chores. A few exercises, and then relax.
Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Thursday.
Chuck
Good morning. It's 45° and partly cloudy with a 7 mph north wind. The high will be 64° and it will be sunny. Expecting a low tonight of 36°.Sounds like things are busy on the KCS mainline this morning. I've heard more than half a dozen trains going through in the last couple of hours. I bet my parents poodles are going nuts! They bark at anything that sounds menacing or threatening and trains really set them off. Nothing going on for me at the moment. I'll be doing some cleanup work on the layout. It could stand a good dusting. I got a bit of a start last night when I started up my van to go to the fire station. It fired up and I heard a couple of bangs and a shrill scream. I cut it off and popped the hood and had a look to see if I could see what was wrong. For some reason a squirrel had climbed up onto the front of the engine and got caught by the fan when the engine started. Needless to say the last thing the critter saw was a bunch of spinning blades. Although it was dead as a brick the squirrel was still in one piece so cleanup was easy.
What a wonderful day it's going to be in Iowa! We are welcoming 4 young Marines from the east coast at noon as part of the Wounded Warrior Project, they will be hunting in northern Iowa this weekend, all of this is possible because of private donations. Our Patriot Guard will be providing the flag ling at the airport today and I feel honored to be part of it.
Happy Birthday to the United States Marine Corps today, 236 years
Jon
So many roads, so little time.
Kung pow chicken boys. Foggy and 50 near the Bay. Coulda swore I mowed/blew/raked all them dang leaves up this week. I was rudely mistaken. Had a nice shrimp-salad sandwich on the yatchet last night. Pretty soon she'll be on the hard. The news/talk shows in the region is simply saturated with the Penn State fiasco. It's 24/7 here.
Cold & damp here. Cat has already came back in and has only been out since 5:00am. MUST be cold.
House cleaning this AM have a best friend from the old days coming in from Denton TX. after lunch today to visit and spend the night before he moves on. It will be great to see him and catch up on everything.
Some good shows on History today.
fifedog: I with you on the Penn State stuff the media just can't report something and move on they have to run it to death. By the way I got off easy from the NTSB, engine is fixed and there and now some screws in that curve section of the track.
Guess I will light a fire and get the duster out.
Later,
Kev.

Morning all. Had to get to the dentist this morning for a crown fitting. Will need to get it implanted next month. Have a meeting later this morning and any work that may come up as we have had a number of consults lately. Not complaining, it keeps me busy and keeps the lights on.
Joe, sounds like Japan is a good fit for you and the family. Pray that it continues to be and that you have a good stay.
Misting rain here. Temps dropped about 15 degrees from yesterday. We can use the rain like so many other parts of the country. Hope we get a fair amount. Regarding the deer, they have been munching on my peach trees. Will have to put the fencing up around them for a time. Don't want any bucks gridling the trees. Came home the other night and had several deer bedded down in my front yard. Last night, had a fawn bleating in front of the house too.
Hope to check back later.Dennis

Good Morning
39 now with bright sun.
Yesterday's strong wind has shared the leaves evenly around the neighborhood. We don't have that many so I don't plan to chop them up. I'm not sure what today will bring so I'll just go with it. The Penn State thing, Too bad they didn't let Joe finish the season, but if he did know about this guy I gotta agree he should have done more to get him out of there...S.J.

Good Afternoon Ya'll From Overcast and Cooler Taxachusetts,
Heavy rains approaching from the West, so there may be a break in the action with continued yard cleanup. Like SJ and Fife, everyone here is into "sharing" their leaves, and one's yard looks little different than the worst of the lot. And the falling leaves are coming fast and furious.
Rich........no quit in you , buddy. Congratulations on your temp job. It is a start. With your skills they may just make full time room for you.
RaySP....... we would have "borrowed and fostered" your trains when you were otherwise engaged, visiting your Sis on the right coast. But you forgot to leave the key under the door mat. And those pesky dogs next door kept barking at us, giving our evil intent away. .
Jeffrey......at the risk of sounding redundant, you do some top notch work on your trains and your layout. You need to give the Chief some squirrel hunting lessons. You bag more squirrels with an ignition key than he does with his entire scope-equipped arsenel.
Brutus........what is the latest on Chewy? Hope the procedure went smoothly and your pup is on the mend with no hitches.
Kevin........you reminded me that I am low on seasoned firewood.
DougDG......I think the $99B would be better spent, if spent at all, on improving the existing rail, equipment, service, and and controlling fares. Yours sounds like our Big dig Project here where the original guesstimates came in at under $3B and the actual has topped $16B. Now the snafus are popping to the surface, and the state has to foot the bill on the fixes. And to add insult to injury, the tunnels are LEAKING!!!! Why? These should be the responsibility of the original contractors who built this problem-prone tunnel project in the first place. Government management and oversight is no management and oversight. Throw in no accountability or taxpayer justice while you are at it.
JoeyD.........moving day!!!! Congratulations. It will be a relief to finally be settled. Re PSU, Paterno should have been all over the higher-ups to act decisively, never assuming that it would be handled and handled appropriately. While decisive action was their responsibility, it was his former direct report that perpetrated these atrocities. JP should have protected the victim from further harm, the future potential victims, the name of his program, the name of his University, and all of the good he had personally accomplished the past 46 years. A shame. A severely tainted legacy, showing a lack of personal responsibility and integrity, is what he has to show for his failure to act. Others share the blame in this.
Jon.......... on the Wounded Warrior Project and your Patriot Guard. And USMC!!!!!
Dennis.......you missed a golden opportunity to have the best animated Christmas lawn decorations this year. Ya shoulda roped them, strung LEDs on them, and altered the deer to look like Santa's reindeer.
V8..........I have very few pieces myself that would rate a C9. Like you, I would rather run them and enjoy them than have to worry about perfection or residual value. I'm gonna need a pretty big casket.
Later, gang.
Jack
IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.

KRM ChiefEagles: Had to take a break when doing the engine repair, had to pick up the granddaughter from day care. She has been expelled ..Poor Kid.... for using her new teeth as defensive weapons. 3 strikes your out. Now the daughter has to find new day care provider. Glad I live 45 miles away don't think she will want to drive that far for me to do it. Give her a hand gun and teach her how to shoot it. The other kids will not mess with her. I'm sure she was defending herself. Chief, What is a appropriate hand gun for her to start with at 14 month? My S&W 357, the 9mm P1 or my old H&R 999?? Kev.

Chief,
What is a appropriate hand gun for her to start with at 14 month? My S&W 357, the 9mm P1 or my old H&R 999??
I'll send her my Ruger .380. Very small and compact for little hands. Has lazer that come on when you grip the grips. That way she can hit what she aims.
Busy morning. Big meeting. Big thingy. Animal control [who is under my Human Services Board] was on TV with a dog to adopt. That afternoon, it was put down. Why??? Started having a cough. Local TV has worked it more than the Penn State thingy. Big screwup.
Then Town Hall. Now sprinkles and windy. Yankee cold front coming through.
Later [got to get out of these "Mayor Clothes"]

Good Evening
36 now
We saw the first S##W flakes of fall today but at 40 degrees, no harm done. It was a stay at home day and a Bisquick pizza for supper. Banilla is ready so bring on the thingy..S.J.
I got to looking at the Tyco gondola I was working on today and I noticed it had 'Made in USA' on the bottom. I looked it up on the Tyco trains resource and it turns out it's a 1960's era Red Box offering (No. T310-H). This makes it one of the oldest pieces of rolling stock I have. Can't tell it by looking at it. It looks brand new.Well it's time for me to call it a night. I'm just can't keep my eyes open, so I'll see y'all tomorrow.
SURPRISE!!!
Right after changing from Mayor clothes into work clothes, Wifey calls and says Youngest Daughter and her three kids are in town. She was at Pam's Parents and wanted us to meet her there. First time we had seen her in over two years. Her youngest, a Daughter, we had never seen. The middle one, a Boy, was three weeks old the last time we saw him. Her comments was she did not care what her husband said or thought, she wanted a relationship with her family. Prayers answered.
Windy and Yankee cold. Sinus thing is still here. Not getting up early tomorrow AM for the Veterans Day breakfast. Sleeping in and doing my thing,
Popcorn time.
Sleep tight.
Evening all!
DougdaG - I agree with you. Most of these shows need to loose the gore.
Jeffrey - I also appreciate your modeling and that you are able to take the time to post the photos. All my stuff including my layout is in storage as we had to move my wife's office to the house last year. Unfortunately I keep acquiring stuff when I have no place to put it.
Kev - I am doing some work on my fireplace. The gas starter pipe wore out and I am in the process of replacing all of the pipe other than the stub coming up through the floor of the fireplace. Need to finish soon as the wife is ready for some fires with the cool weather. Hope to finish this on Saturday.
Hope everyone has a great evening and a great day tomorrow.
Regards, Roy
Colder weather in Saint Louis, but at least it didn't rain today. My wife dropped Chewy off at 7 AM on schedule. My son complained about his ear last night, so Char took him to the doc this afternoon - he has a sore in his ear, probably was digging for gold and cut himself with his fingernail? They gave him ear drops. After, they went out to the van and had a flat. AAA came out and said the tire had dry rot in it and it had a big crack in it. We got the call that Chewy was fine, surgery went great. We can't pick her up until tomorrow at 3:30. Meanwhile I stopped at HD and picked up a gauge ($11) to set the pressure on the house and check for overpressure. I might need an expansion tank for the water heater, which looks like a very minor project. Meanwhile, wife got new tires for the van as there was some dry rot on the other tires, although not as bad. The tires were almost 4 years old on the van, but I'll bet they were a lot older on the shelf It's just money, right? Oh, and our medical insurance is going up $100 a pay check - again, so I'll be another $2500 in the hole compared to my pay 2 years ago before I got promoted, which cut my pay by about $2K a year. Thanks Congress.
TIRED (Tardis Is Ready EDdy), let's get going.
Good evening all,
Been thinking of John Denver's song "Hey its good to be back home again" today. Looked at some pictures of myself taken on the trip back East and decided my work is cut out for me or else just surrender and wear my shirt tail hanging out. Went for a walk for the first time in weeks which went OK but my back trouble is crawling out of its box again since I finished the prednisone. Back on Aleve now but it does not work as well.
Brutus, good news for Chewy. Sorry for your health insurance cost increase.
Called my sis this morning and had a nice talk about our visit. Her daughter wants her to move in with her so she can be closer for care giving but sis wants to stay in her own house as long as possible and maintain her independence. She can no longer drive so that further isolates her.
My son who went with me hit if off real good with his cousin (her son) and wants to go back there again next year after seeing a car race in Georgia. I don't know when, or if I will ever get back there again. That's why I'm glad I went when I could.
Jeffrey, you are a very busy person with all your train weathering. Seems like you come up with a new project almost every day.
I think I will probably be at Cal Stewart on Sunday of that week end. Doubt if I will go on Saturday.
V8, I will confirm that day when the time is closer. Maybe we can get a chance to say hello to each other during the meet and you might even meet some other forum guys there.
Having a hard time staying awake so good night all,

Hi GUYZ,
CHUCK & BUCKEYE, TGIF!
laz57
Happy Veteran's day to all the Vets
It is really cold outside. Windy and 30 degrees. Going up to 42 today.
Today is an easy day. Good day to stay indoors. I have a few things to do and then I will take it easy. A few more weeks before I venture downstairs to run trains.
Buckeye & LAZ...TGIF
Y'all have a great Friday.
Morning all. Sunny and Yankee Cold. Got sinus thing. Not going to Vet. breakfast. Got to rest and drink coffee.
Thanks RT. It was a shame as she lives only two hours away. Hubby was the problem. Real piece of work.
Chat later.
Mornin' gentlemen. Mornin' Chief. Sunny & 38 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Did stop by M.B.Klein yesterday, and checked out the new S4 "Bang" by RMT. Got to admit, looking at the B&O and WM samples, they are very handsome diesels, and don't have that characticture quality of the Beep or Beef. Last night of shift 3, then back to days. Have to get a haircut. Have to take wifey to purchase a cribby-thingy for her new grandbaby (due tomorrow, however oldest princess doesn't think so.) This could get in the way of my card game tomorrow night....
LawsonFarms - Your driver of the 18 is on the naughty-step. There is even rumors that his sponsor has asked to bench him for the rest of 2011, just to get his attention.
cheapclassics - There is talk of scutteling the Baltimore Grand Prix, as the race officionados haven't paid their bills.
HAPPY VETERANS DAY
wrmcclellan Jeffrey - I also appreciate your modeling and that you are able to take the time to post the photos. All my stuff including my layout is in storage as we had to move my wife's office to the house last year. Unfortunately I keep acquiring stuff when I have no place to put it.

Happy Veteran's Day!
Today we had our adventure to Ikea. As I said yesterday, the place is less than 30 miles away but due to the traffic here it still took us two hours. It was raining but we still had a nice drive. There were many new things for the kids to look at and we also listened to some Christmas music. The Ikea was pretty much the same as other Ikeas we have been to, except everything was in Japanese as you might expect. We found all the items we needed to include some shelves I will use to display trains in the boys' rooms. My ceiling layout ideas for their rooms may have to be tweaked a little bit; the windows, A/C units, and closet doors will be a hindrance. I will probably have to figure out a way to suspend the track from the ceiling. At the Ikea food court I had some green soft serve ice cream. I decided to be adventurous and try it. I thought it might be seaweed, but once again it was a green tea flavor. The first lick did not taste so good but then it grew on me; the 16-month-old liked it as well - no one else took a second lick. After Ikea we stopped at the local Toys R Us. The prices here are very much higher than in the States. LEGOS are extremely higher. Tomorrow we need to find some paint so we'll be off on another adventure.
Dennis - Thanks. So far we are enjoying it here very much. I see no reason that will change.
Jack - All of our household items will be delivered Monday and Tuesday - we can't wait.
Brutus - That is great news about Chewy. I hope your son feels better.
It’s time for bed. I have a slight headache and the Jack and Coke I just drank didn’t make it go away.
