V8, will look for you Sunday.  I am 75 with thinning hair.  I am 5 ft. 8" tall and weigh too much. (220)  I wear glasses but don't know what clothes I will wear yet.  I might wear a TTOS red hat from years past but will let you know for sure.  Maybe we will see D. Baker from the forum also.  I'm pretty sure that he will be ther too.

Had to go to town today to get prescriptions filled and to get some things from Wal-Mart. While I was waiting at the pharmacy I chanced to meet up with the chief of the New Llano fire dept. He was telling me there's this set of old blueprints at the New Llano Town Hall that I simply must see. They were for a huge shopping mall that was to be built where a couple of small hotels and a Waffle House now sit along with some other smaller properties. They had no idea where these blueprints came from or who had them drawn up. He started telling me how the mall would have laid out and I just started laughing. The more he talked about it the more I laughed. He asked me what was so funny and I told him my father designed that back in the early 70's. He was the one who filed the blueprints there. There was a whole set. Floor plan, schematics, electrical components required (all above code), materials to be used, load bearing strengths, everything. Obviously it was never built, for several reasons. The company fronting the money went bankrupt and then the owner of the company died. So there was no money coming from the company and his personal funds couldn't be touched. A contract was being drawn up with the government then the worst thing that could happen happened. All government funding was frozen. Watergate was in full swing. So the plans ended up being abandoned and that's why it's in the Town Hall with no name to match it to. They had been wondering for many years where that came from. Even the former mayors that were still alive didn't know. Today the mystery was solved. Now one funny little thing, every time someone argued that a mall had never been planned for the area they trot out those old blueprints. Argument snubbed!

I got all but one of my meds refilled. That one isn't too important, just the one for my prostate condition. Got a call from my father that he needed to be picked at the local auto shop so I went and took care of that. He's still having trouble with the brakes on his RV an d he told them to find the problem and fix it. I stayed at my parents place afterward and found that my free gifts for being selected a Life Member for the History Channel Club had come in. There's quite a pile of 'em too. A credentials portfolio, an LCD travel alarm clock, key chain tag, a guide to historic America, a nice little display book to keep my American history collector's coins in, a nice little reading light that shorts out as soon as it's clipped to a book. I'll figure out how to fix that eventually. A pack of History Channel Club Life Member playing cards, the US constitution and the Bill of Rights in handy pamphlet form, A nice looking walnut trimmed pen and a nice magnifying glass that does a better job than the one I've been using. There's also a Civil War Officers sword letter opener. Last on the list is a magazine holder that when turned around looks like a three volume set of books. It's made to hold History Channel magazines but Walthers catalog will fit in it just as well.

I stayed around for dinner, which I cooked. My cooking skills are still top notch. Pork chops, home fries, green beans, cream corn and for dessert blueberry pie.

I did get the new pieces of track cleaned and GLEAMed and I got the trash packed out.

sir james I

It must be nice weather somewhere as this forum, not just the pot has had few hits over the weekend. Maybe cold weather will liven things up some.

Yes sir, SJ weather keep me outside yesterday. The wind was not too bad in the wood so I did a lot of stuff in the yard and stacked wood. Still need to split more but I like to do that when it is cooler.

11 hours in the truck today and looks like it will be the same for the rest of the week if there is no rain.

Got to take a bath and do it over.

 By guys,

Good evening everyone.  Got to stop over for a quick stop.  Ray, don't worry about it.  I would tell him next time that you even eat without your wife from time to time...  While we all have some favorite people we like to have a meal with, there is something to be said for just enjoying a private dinner with your spouse, or other friends.

Been helping the bride with her blog.  We are trying to chronical things as we progress through the adoption process and ultimately when we return with the kids.  I may even post some items on the trains there, but SWMBO might want me to keep that here.

Got to talk to some old friends tonight.  One of the firefighters up in Jersey needed a cardiologist for his mother.  Fortunately, I still have connections in the cardiology/CV surgery front up there and was able to get him hooked up.

Watched a neat show on Snipers today.  Was on the History Channel and showed all the calculations that go into some of the kills that they made.  One guy during Vietnam went to aid his platoon that was being ambushed.  He was running through the jungle and came across six VC pointing rifles at him.  He ended up using two pistols and charged them, killing three and scaring the others off.  Took quite a bit for these guys to do what they did.

Better get some sleep.
God Bless,
Dennis

Busy weekend.  Mix of sun and clouds, with temperatures in the high 50's and low 60's.  Most of the leaves are down, so I raqn the mower and bagged them.  One more round and that job will be done.

I made a couple more shelves for onr of the book cases I'm using for train storage,  Almost have enough room now.  With that done, I picked up the track on the Ping Pong Plains division of the KATY Central.  Gave the now empty table a good cleaning and now I'm ready to work out my vatiation on the 3 times around the tree layout for the PE display to go into the depot museum soon.

All of you who are hunting - be safe out there.

All for now.

Hope John is doing okay, he's been AWOL from the TARDIS for a while now!

It was a nice warm day in Saint Louis today, up in the 70s. Now we will slide down in the 60s and 50s with highs in the 30s though. Dog is doing really well today - wonder how many more days she has to wear the cone? My wife had a doctor appointment and her liver numbers are good this time, but kidney numbers are a little off now? They adjusted her meds for a week, to see her next Monday. It's always a balancing act, but they are gradually reducing the meds Thumbs Up

TARDIS is ready, so let's get going!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Good Morning,

Things are finally getting back to normal. I even had Veteran's Day off Friday and a 3 day weekend. My wife surprised me with a trip to Long island for the weekend. The main stop was a visit to the Railroad Museum of L.I. I had to check out the old Lionel Layout from the Mich. Visitor's Center.

Brutus, wish Char the best and I hope that they get her meds squared away. I guess Chewey will have to be a "Conehead" for a while more. I have to work OT tonight, so I will se if i can make the Tardis.

Thoughts and Prayers for all in need.

Aloha from a sunny and frosty Crystal Lake where I'm homeschooing the youngest again before Kelly gets back. Last night, we ran trains and painted out 'Andy' on the bottom of Sheriff Woody's boot so he could add his name this morning.  Mike C, that wooden train you got sounds great - any photos? Let us know about the progress of your MR article.  Jeffrey, is that a Pacer? I remember when they were made not too far from here... Kevin, what an incredible breakfast coincidence: I too had Cheerios with raspberries and strawberries - though the latter were frozen. Must be an Illinois thing. Dennis, I am not surprised at how much more complicated adoption paperwork has become since our last time...

Good Morning

45 and the rain is gone.

Doug M and others, Have you ever attended the DuPage show? One of our club members was just there recently and liked it except for the strollers. Said a good reason why York does not allow them. No breakfast yet, granny's cackling on the phone..S.J.

Jeffrey, is that a Pacer? I remember when they were made not too far from here...

That's a 1978 AMC Pacer. I used to have a 1975 Pacer X that my older sister bought new and a 1979 Pacer DL that my father bought new. Both were bought from Hayes Buick-American in Leesville. The company declared bankruptcy in the mid or late 80's after the owner passed away.

Ah yes, American Motors...  SJ, yes, the DuPage show is great: lots of tables selling everything train-related. Five buildings... I've never thought the strollers were that bad because its more selling, than layouts to look at...

Good morning. It's 72° and cloudy. The high is supposed to make it to 80° and there's a 50% chance of thunderstorms this afternoon and evening.

Nothing on the schedule for today. I'm still paying for all that I did yesterday. Hopefully today will be quiet.

Good morning all,

Dennis, thank you for the words of wisdom re eating out with my friends.  "Don't worry about it" is good advice.  I don't like to air my personal life like that but you guys have become part of my extended family it seems like.

City workers have come to fix the water leak in the street in front of our house today.  Our water has been turned off for a while until they get the new pipes hooked up.  Got plenty of pool water for toilet flushes if necessary though.  I don't think it will be off for very long.

Thinking about Cal Stewart train show this weekend and also visit by Union Pacific Steam engine #844.  The engine will come to town on Thursday over Beaumont Pass between Indio and Bloomington, California South of San Bernardino.  It will depart on Saturday over Cajon Pass to the North of San Bernardino at 6:30AM.  Don't think I want to get up that early so I will probably see it when it comes in on Thursday about noon.

later,

Ray

Dennis, probably the Bambi thing.

Got new Stihl BR420 backpack blower for here and the lake house.  Tired of slinging one from right hand to left hand.

Off to pick up deer.

In  the 70's here.

Just a quick splash and go!!!!!!!!!!

Brutus.......prayers and good thoughts for Char's latest adjustments. Angel  While it must worrisome and/or aggravating every time the numbers are not quite right, her Docs seem to be on top of things and make the right moves with some fine tuning.

Glad to hear Chewey is coming along nicely.  Regarding the protective plastic cone on Chewey's head.....  Been there.  Done that.  My strong recomendation:  the dog (and your family) will just have to live with it for a few more days until the incision is healed adequately, end of discussion.  Otherwise, the dog's incessant compulsive licking of the incision site immediately commences, followed by a leaking incision, raw skin around the incision site, and a possible infection.  At that point you are forced to further deplete your train budget, take the dog back in to the vet, and write him another check to fix what the dog broke post op.  He/she will also add to your burden with some antibiotics and medicated ointments, along with a hot compress routine.  More money.  More work. Bang Head  Don't fall for those sad puppy eyes, whining, or the desperate pleas of the family to remove the cone.  They have it all backwards.  Chewey is recovering, not dying.  The dogs are smarter than we are, and they know exactly how to press our buttons to get what they want.  HEY!!!!!  It sounds just like children!!!! Smile, Wink & Grin.

Later gang.

Good evening everyone.  Long day as I had an early case that had some additional work we needed to do.  Everything went well, just took awhile.

Chief, you may be onto something with Bambi...Walt Disney may have corrupted my kids!  He is all for going with me and if we have some folks who are looking for meat, I will tag a doe.  Doubt I will get a buck bigger than the one I got in Canada down here.

Doug, yeah, the paperwork has gotten a lot more intense.  I suspect it is as a result of some of the bad examples of adopted families that have made the news over the past couple of years.  That, and the corruption in some places that resulted in the Hague Treaty for international adoption.  In the end, I think it is a good thing so that the stories of baby stealing and corruption will be a thing of the past.  We were watching more videos of our son on the Internet tonight.  Wish we could also get some of our daughter, but really look forward to travelling to get them!  Today, I got a book on raising kids with albinism...wife quickly snatched it up, so I will have to read it later.

Ray, not sure if I tick a lot of folks off, but I turn down engagements so I can stay with my family...alone.  I want them to know that they are the most important people in my life.  I don't usually attend the hospital functions, or other festivities unless I can bring my family.  I hope the folks who I have to refuse the offer understand.

LI have to get going, but hope each of you has a blessed night,

Dennis

Brutus - Hope Char's medication adjustments work out.

Jeeez - I just re-read my last post and noticed that it was littered with typos Embarrassed.  Spell check and calculators are going to be the downfall of civilization as we know it!

Good night all.  I reclinerized and Pam couchirized missing a good Halmark Chirstmas movie.  She is off today [since it is after midnight].  We will do leaves utill rain comes in.

All you on statins [meds for cholesterol], go to Lipitorforyou.com.  Get copay card for $4 per month for Lipitor.  Been having cramps which I knew was from meds.  Dr. seemed to think it was not.  Pharmacist caught me tonight as we renewed my meds.  Seems they were the problem.  I was drinking two cups of tonic water with Quinine per day.  Helped but did not stop.  She is now recommending Lipitor.  She put me on the $4 per month Lipitor.

Good morning,

60 and a dreary drizzle. Quiet so far at work.

Nice chat with Brutus, RT and SJ on the Tardis last night. I will try to make it tonight but it is another late one.

AF53, your package arrived. Your sister did not even ask what came for me. The 2065 arrived. Nice.

Chief, I have been lucky, no meds, so far. I have seen how sme meds react with others from my wife and others. Good Luck.

Time for the Safety Huddle.

Have a great day.

Good morning. 67° and cloudy. The high is projected to be 76°. There's a 20% chance of rain early changing to 40% before noon and tapering off to 10% after 5 pm.

Yesterday afternoon we were treated to a very nasty line of thunderstorms coming across Texas and crossed into Louisiana about 5:30 pm. I don't know how much rain we got but it sounded like a lot and the thunder, well, that was the first time in a long while that I heard continuous unbroken thunder for over an hour. Lightning was so frequent I could heve seen my way around outside without a flashlight with no problem at all. As the sun isn't up yet I haven't looked outside to see what it's like. Judging from what I was hearing last night it's probably a mess.

Speaking of Statins  ............... even though I had the ability to sign up and use Medicare I did not, I was still covered under my wife's health plan, free to me.  I will make the switch to Medicare and drug plan on Jan. 1 as a prelude to hopeful retirement for Sharyl.  I checked with Costco yesterday about their prescription costs and right now they are cheaper (with no co pay) than what I was paying with insurance coverage!!!!!!!  I just don't get it but I am pleased.  More $$$ for trains Thumbs Up
