Happy Anniversary, Banks!

Today was back to work and started off with a lady yelling at me, then telling me it wasn't me, she was just mad at the situation, blah blah blah.  Well then don't yell at ME!  Laugh  Hope it made her feel better!  Going through all my books that were not in storage in the basement, I arranged all my train and model/toy train books together - sure have a lot of them!  Why are so many train books oddball shapes and sizes I wonder?  Watched a show about the history of late night tv shows - very good!  Really enjoyed seeing all the old Carson stuff and of course we all saw clips and bits from Steve Allen while I was growing up.  I used to love Dick Cavett's show and Merv Griffin.  They didn't mention The Tomorrow Show or The Late, Late Show with Tom Snyder though.

TARDIS is ready, let's get going!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Good evening all,  My son and I just got back to L.A. from Jacksonville, N.C. tonight.  Had a most blessed visit with my ailing sister and other family members for a great reunion.  We had Eastern North Carolina Bar-B-Que and fried chicken on Sunday with all the trimmings.  One of my sis in laws made a delicious homemade vegetable beef soup as well,  There was enough food for an army and lunch became dinner later that night.  My sister still has a lot of chicken to distribute after we left. That was on Sunday.  On Monday we all went to the seashore for a wonderful seafood lunch hosted by my nephews wife who is the manager of the restaurant.  The owner who was most gracious gave all of us lunch on the house.  He would not even let us leave a tip.  I OD'ed on fried oysters and flounder (my favorites), sweet tea and cole slaw and french fries.  They had a nice horderve like a crab cake but with shimp, crab and other seafood delights inside.

I reported in to the Chief on the night of our arrrival but it was too late to get together, I thought.  However, His Honor said that he would have met me at the airport had he known what flight I was on.  I really appreciate the thought Chief and thank you for announcing my arrival in the land of my birth.

Got to catch up on the coffee pot.

Doug and Dennis, thanks for the thoughts for a good visit and safe travel.  It could not have gone better.  The weather was great the whole time.  The only rain we saw was in Chicago on the way back but we did not have to go outside.  We just changed planes there.

Dennis prayers and best wishes for the new children and for your entire family.  God Bless!

Jack, my back trouble behaved itself for the entire trip back east thanks to the meds from my doctor. My son did all the heavy lifting and driviing on the trip and I don't think I could have made it without him.  I was so glad to see my sister, that maybe it kept it off my mind.  Whatever it was, I'll take it.

Glad to be back home,

Ray

Congratulations Chief !!  Yes

Beware what you wish for that is what my dad used to say. I am with LAZ  should be beer all around. Beer

Rain today mild now about 49 but will drop all day and they have the word SNOW in the forecast for later today with lots of cold with it.   Storm   No work for a few days till this dries off or the ground freezes.

Need to figure out how to fix my Norfolk Southern 6-18207 today. I was running it last night and doing something else when the track separated in a 42" curve on the end of the table and it took a nosedive into the basement concrete floor.   Oops - Sign  Bang Head  Crying

Blew the plastic part behind the coupler that holds the snowplow right off. Bent the front railing but that looks to be it. My luck that part is fixed to the truck frame and comes only with a complete new truck assembly at like $98.00 so I am just going to find a way to bolt it back on to the truck frame, I hope.

Have a good day all,

Kev.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cold 44 degrees. Looks like rain is coming. Going up to 60 today.

Today is a busy day. I have an errand to run and the usual chores. Exercises and then, I can relax.

Chief, how many people ran against you in the election ?

Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Wednesday.

I don’t know how I ended up with a double post, system seemed slow and I must of hit the button twice

Fifedog I am with you  "grits in every pot"...?????????? Tht would not get you too far around here. Laugh

Yeah NTSB will want to do a druge test and full body search too.    Ick!

I got the truck removed and it looks like if I grind down what is left of the mounting studs I can drill them out and bolt the step assembly back on. Huh?

Good thing it is a rain day gives me something to do.

By for now,

Really had a great turnout.  Not really.  There were three precincts voting in town.  We were the only thing on the ballot.  Cost the Town over $3,000 to officially elect us.  NC law requires the vote.  Now I have to do a lot of paperwork showing I spent $0 on a campaign.  Unbelieveable.
Sunny and real warm.  Sinus thing has me down.  Will get out and around soon.
I see there has been some tough weather west and north of us.  Suppose to die out as it reaches us.  Only turn things cooler.
Have a good one.

Good morning

54 with some sct. showers today.

No plans for today, after his check bounced, Chief sent me instant Grits for votes but that won't do it. They did fill the pothole at the corner quite nicely though. For those working folk....

Happy Hump day....S.J.

Morning all!

Kev - if Fife call the NTSB on you watch out! Automobile

Chief - congrats on the win! As to the need for paperwork to justify you spent nothing on your reelection campaign - "no good deed goes unpunished".

Cooler here with the front blowing through. 45 and maybe 60 today. Warming slightly as we get to the weekend.

Have an appt tomorrow morning to get the boat winterized. Gotta haul it across town in rush hour. That is always fun?

I can't remember if I already mentioned this but the doc gave me a Yes Tues on the healing of my nerve and neck pain and said we now take a "watch and see" on this. If it continues to heal/diminish then the slight problems I will deal with are not worth operating on the neck at this time. That sounded good to me. Another 6 weeks and we will know where this stands. In the meantime I have now met several people that have had the operation and say it is a miracle compared to what they were dealing with. That also made me feel better.

Have a great day all!

Congrats on the win Chief.

Good morning. It's 53° and sunny. The high will be 68° and it will be partly cloudy (so weather guesser says).

Not much going on here today. Power was out part of the night. I discovered this morning that one of the trailers on my layout has a tenant. A wolf spider has moved in and set up housekeeping. In scale feet it's 3' tall and 10' wide. When I spotted the behemoth it was walking across the park. It went to the mobile home back of the park, climbed in through the picture window and is still there at this time. I guess now I'm going to have to do some work on it before I get tenant complaints about it not being level.

Today's photo is a rare look at the front of Ezra's place. I'd like to do more to it but it's extremely difficult to get to.

Good morning all,

Chief, congratulations on the victory. "Grits rule".  Didn't realize you were right in the middle of an election while I was traveling.

Sent my extra rented POC batteries from my trip back to the supplier in Charlotte, N.C. this morning.  Called Fedex to pick up but they say I have to have an account so I just dropped off the package at a local pick up point.

Roy, good news on the neck problem.  Hope you don't need surgery.  I ran into the same thing over 10 years ago but mine has since healed itself I guess.  Not causing a problem now.

Water leaking in street in front of my house this morning but they say the break is on the City side of the meter so they will fix it at their expense.

Saw an article in the morning paper about airlines flying full flights and less of them over the holidays.  Flying is not for sissys anymore.  Guess we were lucky to get a reservation when we did.

Big Cal Stewart West Coast Train Show coming up later this month.  Might go but have gone to the Dixeland Jazz Festival in San Diego for the last two Thanksgivings.  Think we will pass on it this year.  Maybe stay home and cook a turkey.

Later,

Ray

Good Afternoon guys!

Congas, Chief....

Dems swept the polls up here....apparently most of the dumb masses are truly clueless. Bang Head

Funeral for our past chief went well.  Weather was outstanding, in the 70's.  Saw guys that never cry yesterday shed some tears.  I was just honored to be asked to be in the procession.  Viewing for my past Captain's dad went well also.  Learned this morning that Hal Bruno has also past on.

Fife - I had to stab my eyes on that picture.....please..make it stop...!!!!!

SP Ray - glad you are home safe.  Sounds like an enjoyable albeit short trip.  Thumbs Up

I have found a temp job.  Local body shop needed someone to do assembly/disassembly and suspension work.  Wants to see if I'll be ok so this will be a trial run.  5 miles from my house and just past the WaWa so this will be a win/win Smile, Wink & Grin.  I'll be a contractor until he is satisfied I'll be ok.  Just need to get my tools here.....cuz I start tomorrow!

Nothing else of import as of yet.  Will check back later!

Good afternoon everyone.  Tried to post yesterday, but got called away for another case.  Didn't leave the hospital till after 11pm.

Chief, congratulations on the election.  As for not spending any money, that will come when you pay off all the voters from here!  Could be a very expensive "free" campaign.

Ray, glad you had such a good visit east.  Yesterday was two years since mom died and one thing that stands out in our minds, and the minds of our kids is that we got to go on vacation a month before with her and my dad.  Most precious thing is the time spent with those we love.  And thanks for the kind thoughts.

Have to get busy on some reports as I have a meeting with the execs tomorrow.

May God bless,

Dennis

Rain pulled out and the cold is crashing in. Speaking of crashing.....

Well crash victim # 8689 has been repaired as per plan and is now back in service.  Oops - Sign

Ground off the mounting studs and drillrd out truck frame ears. Installed socket head bolts with lock nuts to hold blasted off front truck assembly back on truck frame.   Yes

Glad I live 45 miles away don't think she will want to drive that far for me to do it.   Stick out tongue

Roy. Take your time on that never damage. Nerves take a long time to heal. They will only heal at about 1" per year. I had 3 Ulnar never operations in the mid 90s from a arm crush and it still gives me fits now and then. Leave surgery as a last resort bad enough to have surgery on the arm, I would try to keep away from it on the neck.  But in the end it is    up    to   you.  SoapBox

Got my tire mounted and balanced on my repaired rim and it looks like the epoxy patch is going to do the trick so I have a spare again. Thanks for the tip.   Bow

LAZ........I think I got your beer as well as mine.  Label said: EAGLES NEST BEER.  Chief must have made a mistake, was distracted because all of that non-campaigning has been tough on him.  I read the ingredients on the label, and hops were nowhere to be found, just grits.  So I dumped it all down a clogged toilet, cleaned it right out.  But now the sewers in the street in front of my house are clogged and overflowing. Evening all!

Fife - aaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Take it away, take it away....my eyes!!!!!!!!

Anj - congrats on the temp job!

Ray - so glad your trip went well.

Kev - yep - this is going to be a long road. I was able to arrange work so I have no more business trips this year. I made sevral trips with this problem and it set me back on healing up.

Jeffrey - I like that style Gas station. There was an O scale model called Corner Gas and Oil that I missed picking up. The new Weaver brass corner gas model approximates the GGO model but it is not the same level of detail.

Pat - thanks for exposing part of the truth behind Chief's election!

Work has been really hard the last two weeks. Lots of things to address across multiple teams.

And SJ - I am so looking forward to deciding to goof off for the day.

Cooler tonight - Mike C sent some winds our way I think.

Have a great evening all!

Roy: That station was built from a Heljan kit. The bay doors came from another kit and the home on top came from Model Power. I've had the station since the mid 80's.

Hello all,

Thanks for all the Anniversary wishes.

Our hoped for trip to Indian River Inlet this weekend didn't pan out. Soooooooooo...... Our anniversary trip may be to the Greenberg Show in Monroeville  With no complaints. I couldn't have asked for a better MRS. Hope the show is better than it was in February.

No deer sightings at Son's since the corn is gone. They are really working on the Soy beans here. (about five mile as the crow files) If all goes well they will be safe before the weekend is over.

Slowly getting some yard work done. Rain is due here around midnight. That'll slow it down again.

Chief Congas on another term. Local school board lost for incumbents. They were pretty proud of the fact they thought our school tax was to low.

Shame about the mess at PSU

Ray sounds like you had a good trip

Kev, I'm with Chief on the handgun

Off to bed.

Prayers for those in need

Had to take a break when doing the engine repair, had to pick up the granddaughter from day care. She has been expelled ..Poor Kid..Ashamed.. for using her new teeth as defensive weapons.   Mischief      Smile, Wink & Grin   3 strikes your out.    Bang Head     Now the daughter has to find new day care provider. Glad I live 45 miles away don't think she will want to drive that far for me to do it.   Stick out tongue

Give her a hand gun and teach her how to shoot it.  The other kids will not mess with her.  I'm sure she was defending herself.

Chief,

What is a appropriate hand gun for her to start with at 14 month? My S&W 357, the 9mm P1 or my old H&R 999?? Laugh

First use of the fireplace tonight, darn right cold and windy out there.  George the cat is in love with it.

Night all!

Kev.
