Afternoon All.
Chuck, Ditto on the Cheerios this morning.
Well it looks as if SWMBO won't be getting a new flatscreen. Had a local repair guy, former SONY repair tech in the Chicago area, to look at it and it is a minor repair. She's not overly happy but with some of the medical expenses the past few months as well as the possibility of more coming up our "disposable income" has taken a beating. Thank goodness for insurance or we would be in deep doodoo.
A friend sent me a link that I thought some of you guys mite like. It's Oshkosh by gosh: http://www.twaseniorsclub.org/Oshkosh.html . Sure had fun flying in some of those little puddle jumpers, especially the open cockpit biplanes.
John, Prayers for your co-workers.
Will check in later.
P.S. Thanks for the good thoughts guys, truly appreciated.

IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.
Lunch Time:
Humid overcast day here in NJ with a 20% chance of rain and tomorrow is another story.
Chuck, glad to see you posting.
SJ, Continued progress with Granny.
Doug M, Sometimes the little things, like cleaning up pay off later.
Fife, Hang in there.
Doug, not the grump, hang in there.
Prayer request: We seem to hve pretty good results here. A few weeks back during our storm restoration efforts we had 2 of our gas company employees hurt, when they were called to a home for an overheated boiler. As they were going down the basement stairs, it exploded, the steps collapsed. They were burnt and suffered major injuries. They are in the St Barnabas Burn Unit. One of the victim's kdneys stopped, but they started them again. The other faces surgery for his internal damage. Over the weekend, on the electric side, one of our underground Techs was injured in a flash. He is in the same burn unit. Thanks. These guys all have families that count on them.
Sorry if I forgot someone. Too much on my mind.

Good morning all, I finally got in touch with Verizon after four days to get repair man out to fix back up battery system which is beeping. They put it in the attic which I can't reach myself. It has failed three times in less than 6 months. I asked for a more accessible location.. We will see what they do.
I have done some research about flying back East with oxygen etc and think I understand what to do now if and when I go. It all depends on my own health issues.. I think sister is going back for more radiation treatment this week. Have not had an update yesterday. Need to call her.
Don, I have that book, "Nothing Like it in the World" Ambrose is one of my favorite historian/writers. I have read several of his books on WWII. Great book! Unfortunately, he died too early. He was a good guy.
Chuck, I suppose being tired is normal when you are trying to get back to normal but take it easy and do what they tell you. Hope it gets a little bit easier each day.
We have had cloudy mornings for a few days but that's good. It keeps it cool.
Did not watch any football games this week end. Saw a little of the golf tournament but don't know any of the current leaders. All the old familier names are becoming also rans. Time marches on.
Have a good week all,
Ray

SJ said 'Doug M why did you have to clean up after Ks cooking club? Have you been a bad boy and being punished?' I was being nice. Especially since they went out afterwards until midnight.

dbaker48 Charlie, My sister live in Gaylord. As a matter of fact the older niece is running for City Council this year. I hope she does well. I have never been there, but from what Ive read it seems to be somewhat of a resort area, and is definetly where snow starts.

Good Morning
64, woke up to a rainy morning.
Doug M why did you have to clean up after Ks cooking club? Have you been a bad boy and being punished? Forgot to mention the Lions come from behind win yesterday, we fans have waited a long time just hoping they would win a game. Had a nice chat with some of the guys last night. Chief thanks for reminding me, forgot about my SS arriving on the 21st. I don't get very much from them they count my federal pension as income....S.J.

Well, I am on call and so will be going in later. After dropping kids off at school, wife and I had to go get our finger prints and a background check done for the adoption. Now, my job is to get copies of our marriage license and get some paperwork to the agency.
It is supposed to be back in the 90s today. Hope it doesn't get too hot as I have to go into the attic to run a electrical box/line to which will be the outlet for the security camera system.
Our daughter is getting ready to be baptised. Our church requires the child and the family to go through a class before hand. This being the case, the week after this class will be when my dad is down, so the baptism will have grandpa here for it. Means a lot to us and to our daughter.
Glad to see Chuck, Doug, Don, Bob, etc. posting. I enjoy coming here to read from each of you and such an absence caused by life's issues in certainly noticed.
God Bless,Dennis

Mornin' boys. Overcast and humid here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Still sore. Don't like pain med, but need it every 4-6. Need some LAX, and I don't mean lacrosse.
Aloha. Rainy morning in Chicago but I can see the sun coming. Boy, the Bears sure looked awful. I had a long nap during the game since I was up too late the night before cleaning up after the bride's cooking club. Roy, 'Things to Come' is a great movie - as you said, kind of slow but worth it for the models. Tony Stewart sure seems to come alive at the right time in the Chase. Not sure of my #88. Don B, I just finished that Ambrose book! A good read. Kevin, had to look up Marseilles, IL. Never been down that way. Isn't this pretty - a shot of Penny station

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a cool 67 degrees. Maybe rain today.
I am a little tired today. Had a restless night. I will be taking a nap today. Taking pain relief pills for the exercise pain. This is going to take some time to get back to normal.
Dining car is here with Cherrios for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Monday.

Hi all! Just read the past weeks events. These 75+ hour weeks aren't good for posting! Or reading!
Chuck - Nice to be home, good to see you"re getting better.
Jack - Probably the worst sinking feeling you"ve had, the past two months. But with all those injuries not much you could do.
JoeD - Tue nights game was great even though Mo already had 602. We partied all game long knowing it was our last for the year.
NJDevil - (See JoeD)
HudsonJohn - Thanks for your help tonight along with SJ and Brutus (hope I didn't miss anyone)

Good Evening All...
Had a great weekend, both shows were 1/2 day events, and we did very well. That always help in this economy. We just finished reviewing health care options and various plans. Man is it ever getting impossible, premiums at $1300/mth, then $50 copay!! :(
Got home yesterday about 1:30pm, was feeling kind of tired and decided to take a nap, ended up sleeping 16 hours!! Can't believe it, woke up for dinner then a short while latter fell back to sleep and slept till this morning. Did have extra energy this afternoon, got the wiring finished in my shed, and that sure has been a major improvement.
Going to have eyes tested tomorrow, probably end up with new glasses as well.
Thanks for the thoughts regarding my uncle. Just as you suggested Doug, there were a LOT of very good memories, he was my favorite uncle. Unfortunately he had a really rough life, there were always significant issues going on, lot of them he brought on his self, but he was very good natured, and always a lot of fun to be around. I know he is in a better place, and finally at peace.
Sure glad to hear the progress of both Doug and Chuck, home cooking, taking it easy and getting rest is definetly the answer.
Been reading a really great book, "Nothing Like It In The World", by Stephen Ambrose. It is about the development and building of the Transcontinental Railroad. It is definetly one the best books I have read. Would strongly recommend it.
Hope Roy, and Fife get better quick.
Going to go check out the Sunday Photos.
Take care
Don
Very cool to cold out in STL today. Also very damp after all this rain we have been having. I still need to mow the front and side, but it's just too wet. Oh well - nice day overall and met up with my in-laws for dinner at Culvers.
Prayers for Ray, Roy, Doug, Chuck and all the rest of us and our intentions.
Tardis will launch in a few minutes, just checking the scope now
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Evening, Guys!
Chuck & Dougnotta - and you too Fifey...
Spent the day with the Princess yesterday (I promised her frozen yogurt), as I went to get my hairs shortened. Went shopping and then went to the Italian-American Festival during the afternoon. Met up with my God-daughter and her family spent some time with them then went home.
I eventually went back for a sausage sandwich and entertainment by Louis Prima, Jr and his band. Nice Italian boy..... Fireworks ensued thereafter and I was home by 11:30 PM.
Got no call about my Super 50/50 winnings......maybe next year
Jack and you Red Sox fans - I love this commercial about the "new" guy that's a Red Sox Fan....sorry for the poor quality...Yankees have Home Field through out the playoffs.

Good evening everyone. Had a little bit of a rain storm here. On Friday, we had quite a bit of rain....which was needed. It also softened the ground a bit so I could drive a post 18" into the ground for a new mail box. "Wicked" was a good play. Not as good as Les Mis, or Phantom, but still good. Had a great time and wife enjoyed the anniversary as well as it was her birthday today. Also had a long day of it as after we drove back from Atlanta, we were invited to some friends house. Had dinner and nice converastion, but we were exhausted. Church this morning was very good, but now it is good to just relax.
Don, sorry to hear about your uncle, but glad for things with the coming together of family. Our time here is limited and far too short to allow any minor issues get in the way....and they are all minor when compared to eternity. Good luck with things.
Doug(not a grump), hope they are able to get everything straight on your meds and with time, your strength comes back to you. Regarding Flat Screen TVs, from what I understand, most reputable brands are made in like one or two factories (sounds like trains). Anyway, they have the same innards, and most functions. Once you get beyond the real cheap makes, the others should last and perform well. We have two 46" Toshiba Regza models that we have liked. We got the first at Circuit City before they went out of business. Second one we got at Sam's Club. I think the second one was about $500-$600 around Christmas. We got a surround system with ours and it really makes for some good movies. Also got blackout curtains that cover the whole back of the house as it is all windows. Speaking of windows, the deal with Plasma is that it doesn't hold up with exposure to a decent amount of sunlight. Also, viewing can be lessened with bright light. With LCD, the problem can be the clarity of the screen when seen at a angle. This would make for less than best performance if you had a wide seating arrangement with viewers at a sharp side angle to the TV.
Chief, sorry to have sent the heavy rains...but the fox and deer told me you needed it up there. Hope all is well on your end...speaking of ends, hope for a good report for Fife!
Evening all. Up to the lake house and back. Took SIL's queeen up for master bedroom and they took back our king. Did not need that big of a bed in the room. Now more room to walk around. Came back as things to do at Town Hall and grass to mow here. Been too wet to mow and don't like to mow on Sunday. Hopefully it will dry off early tomorrow AM. I'll be back Friday and wifey will stay with her GF's over the weekend. Grass to mow there too.
Notagrump, get well old buddy. Concerned.
Chucky [Toots], keep up the good work.
Bob, you still down the hill? Stick with it, buddy.
Chat later.
Good evening all,
Weather cloudy. Boys team salvaged one win out of three in a rough week. Girls gave up two own goals in first 10 minutes lost 3-1. Did little today. Tired from last 3 days. Mass crowded with youth mass and confirmation kids. Don't usually notice NASCAR, but will note Tony Stewart is two for two in Chase and leading in points. Indiana boy would rather win 500 more than anything else, but that door closed a long time ago. Has a good number as well. Take even less note of football played with weird shaped ball (not round), but will comment on Detroit winning first 3. Used to follow that team long time ago along with San Diego. Now only two games I watch are Thanksgiving day and Super Bowl (for commercials). Read the latest CTT. Good issue. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
We bought a LG (lifes good) lcd tv about 2 years ago well will be come christmas I love it even thou don't get to use it much its a 35" I think. It's been a good tv so far and wife turns it on when she gets up in the morning with me ( about 5:30 ) and then it finally gets turned off when she comes to bed at night about 11P.M. even thou she lays back down when I leave I know she leaves it on to make anybody think theres someone up lol.

14 wins again. RAVENS win. LIONS are 3-0!
Doug,
SJ makes a good point. I forgot. to state my TVs are LCD instead of plasma.
Also - the LED TVs (which use LEDs to illuminate the LCD screen vs CCFLs) use even less power than the standard CCFL illuminated LCDs. But the std LCDs are cheaper and just as good for picture.
The down side of the 26" LED Westinghouse we have is it uses an inline power cord AC-DC power converter like a laptop PC instead of the power converter being built into the TV. Since we had it mounted on the wall in our bedroom the converter was unsightly and I had to tie wrap the AC-DC converter to the wall mounting bracket and use an extension cord.
BTW - Da Bears struggling against the Pack. Kind of like watching a C'Boys game.
Regards, Roy
Yes local service is a must. We have a Sony 46" and a Vizio 37 inch, both LCD screens,, stay away from Plasma screens. Weather was in the low 70s, a nice day. Got banilla so come on by..S.J.
DougdaG,
Re the flat screen. They are all pretty good. We have Samsung 48" (best price for size), Sony (best picture) 46", Vizio 26" (best price and oldest one we have), and a Westinghouse (broke in first 2 weeks - see below) 26".
The big problem is repair if it breaks. I have a 26" Westinghouse that broke in first 2 weeks. Bought it at Target. Target had (what I thought) was the best and cheapest extended warranty), which kicks in after the manufacturer warranty.
The problem? I have to ship the TV to either the East or West coast service centers. Target warranty will cover the cost. The next problem? Packing it. I cannot find a box for it. Picture frame boxes are too narrow. The TV has been sitting in the hallway waiting for me to create a shipping box for it. It is going to cost me the amount of the TV in time and effort to build a box and then ship it.
My advice for what little it may be worth - find a brand that has a local national warranty service facility.
dbaker48 - Then some good news too, my sister who lives in Michigan,

Keep on keepin on.
Laz,
Progressing slowly, unfortunately with my history of chronicly low blood pressure some of the meds required to help heal can't be taken at a dosage the doc would like. Gonna be working at it like Chuck, slow and easy.
One of our tv's appears to have "bit-the-dust" so SWMBO is talking flatscreen. Any rec's on brand & type ?
