Mornin' /Afternoon All.

Sounds as if thing s are going well for most of our forum brethren. Condolences for Don and the rest of the family, even though estranged there are probably some earlier fond memories.

Quite a busy weekend here. Spent the day at the museum then picked the munchkin at school to spend the nite with us. Was up far to late prepping veggie platters and fruit bowls for his B'day party on saturday. He and I were up at 5:30 starting breakfast, as always Bacon Waffles & Bacon on the side, he eats like I used to. After Grandma got up I had to take a snooze before we all got ready to head to his party.

Thought about heading down to North Island N. A. S. today but just to tired. Big festivities for Fleetweek,  no not a celebration for Fife's exam, although I'm sure he would enjoy this one. Check out the link: http://www.fleetweeksandiego.org/index.shtml .

I used to think Lionel's parts list were bad but lately MTH  takes the door prize. Grumpy Threw some tires on one of my MTH GEEPS and you guessed it, no parts lists. Bang Head

Halloween is right around the corner, started putting together some of my halloween cars. It's a dirty job but somebody has to do it.Smile, Wink & Grin

Later all.

Continued prayers for friends in need. Thumbs Up

Afternoon all!

Chuck - good to hear it is going well and you are feeling better! Take it easy!

NASCAR and football today. Watching the replay of the Continental Tire Mid-Ohio race from last week. Amazing that a Camaro can lead Mustangs, Porches, and BMWs?

Ray - there was an article in Model Railroader a few years ago about an HO model of the San Bernardino station and part of the shops area. That was a huge complex so the museum sounds like it could be quite interesting.

Have a great day all!

Regards, Roy

Good morning all,

Chief and Fifey, sorry I got the two of your post mixed up. I must have read a quote from Fife by mistake.  Anyway Fife, hope everything went well.

Chuck, so glad to see your Cheerios post again.  Haven't seen that in a long time.  Keep up your exercises and be a good boy.

Roy, prayers for continued pain relief.

Good day for sister yesterday who is home now and taking treatments as an outpatient.  She has three children and a niece taking turns as care givers for now.

Out to dinner last night with friends from church.  My friends wife just got out of the hospital a few days ago.  She has been in three times to repair shoulder surgery.  Don't know how she keeps a good attitude.

Prayers for all our forum friends in need of it.

Checked out a website for a small railroad museum in the historic San Bernardino Railroad Station after seeing a clip about it on TV.  Might ride the Metrolink train out there and check it out sometime.  Only open one day a week on Saturday.  Mainly aritfacts and photos.  Has a lot of photos about the old San Bernardino Santa Fe Shops which are all gone now.

have a nice Sunday,

Ray

Have a good Sunday everyone.

Good Morning

59 and overcast, maybe some rain today. Not sure.

Regular gas was $3.39 this morning. Granny climbed the stairs again this morning, spent a little time up there getting a few things she wanted. Looks like she will be back to sleeping in the bedroom soon. That will be progress...S.J.

Hi GUYZ,

Foggy here and alot of dew.  Went to gun show that was a bust yesterday.  Suppose to be 800 tables but show was cancelled two weeks ago because of flooding, rescheduled yesterday along with 6 other gun shows in state so about 1/3 of vendors were there.  After gun show went to Bass Pro and hung out there till supper time.

JIM PROBE, got the Black Hudson and yes it does look more like the 37 then the newer version.  Love how it creeps and the steam effects are totally cool along with the moving bell.  Just a super engine that Lionel put together.

CHUCK, remember to pace yourself and if possible try a little bit more each day, but not too much.  Don't get stale with the same exercises, mix it up a bit, remember variety is the spice of life.

Stay frosty,

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a rainy 56 degrees. I can see some lightening off in the distance.

Today is a busy day. I have exercises to do and some paperwork to work on. I feel preetty good. Slept good last night. That makes a big difference. Good sleep.

I probably won't be able to go down to the train room for a month or two. Maybe by Thanksgiving. My legs are not strong enough to take the stairs. Here we go again. The good part is that I am alive and a lot of prayers were heard. This is very true. I really am thankful for all of you and your prayers. You are the best.

Cheerios for breakfast. Dining car has arrived. What a beautiful waitress.

Y'all have a great Sunday.

Laz,

Did you get black or gray?  From what I've seen, this new 700E  reminds me more of the original 700E than the 1990 reissue.  I'd love to have one, but I know what I'd be lookig for instead if I had that money.Smile, Wink & Grin

I decided to pass on the 95 GT today.  Even at $800, it is still a gamble.  There are too many little things that are "what ifs?" along with that voice in my head telling me to avoid it to be comfortable with this one.  I found a used trans, but still, I don't know if there are any hidden suprises.  I'll just look for another one.  As much as I love these cars, the last thing I need is a money pit.  I used to think my GT was rough, but that 95 made it look like a new car.

Howdy guys.  Well, today was just a quiet day at home for my daughter and I.  While Char and my son were out, we put flea stuff on the carpets and then cleaned them.  Got a little woozy at one point, but we aired out the house and it was fine.  Caught up on some reading and played some video games.

Prayers for healing.  Don - sorry for your loss and hope things work out with the club.

Tardis is ready, so let's light this candle!

Coffee's cold

59 right now, sun all day

I made it to the train show, met a lot of old friends as the new show season starts. Almost bought a Lionel 646 (no tender) from the CC set for a $100 but decided I didn't need it. Did stop at Wild Bills and bought a NIB Lionel ore car w/diecast sprung trucks for $18. Got granny to climb the stairs today that's good to see. I'm trying to get her up more but she sure likes that couch. Banilla is ready for the thingy...S.J.

Good afternoon everyone,

Nice today, sunny and 62 just north of Marseilles IL.today. Guess it is raining in Chicago. Been fighting with an attack of gout, uck!! all week, never had it before but now I know why my dad complained so much about it. So I have been stuck in the house but I feel a bit better and think I will go outside today and watch the wife work in the yard. J Cleaned up and lubed my 681 S-2 Turbine find from cleaning the basement yesterday and found out I will have to re-wire the 2046W-50 tender, but that is all good something else to do.

Have a great day all,

Kevin

Afternoon all!

Better again today and taking it easy this weekend to avoid any strain.

Ray - prayers for your sister and good luck on all the travel decisions. Tough position to be in for sure.

Don B - good to hear from you and sorry about your uncle and good to hear about your renewed family connections! Re the El Cam - remember keep the shiny side up and the dirty side down!

Nice cool evening for HS football last night but we played one of the top 5 teams in the state and got shut out.

EDIT - watching a 1936 movie I DVR;d the other night after watching the restored version of Metropolis. The movie is called "Things to Come". First hour is a little tedious but then as they move into the future there are really cool futuristic sets and detailed modeling. Worth watching just for that.

Have a great day all!

Good morning all,  got a recurring Verizon/FIOS problem for the third time today with equipment in the attic putting out some low battery signal every 15 minutes.  The thing is in a bad location for me to do anything with.  Had service man out twice and they fixed it each time but now its bad again.  Can't get through to service department today,  Saturday is too busy.  Will call again Monday.

Don, Glad you are home safely.  Sorry to hear about the passing of your Uncle  Those situations are tough when there is no provision for final expenses.  Been through that myself once with a relative.

That is bad news about the club having to cough up that much money per member.  What would the State do with the property if no one was there?  Probably nothing.  Good luck whatever happens.

Had another talk with my sister last night.  She is doing OK now with the radiation treatment.  Hope to go see her this Fall if I can.

Chuck, easy does it but have a good day.

later,

Ray

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cloudy 56 degrees. Looks like rain.

Today is a resting day. I think I did a liittle too much walking around the house, yesterday. Legs ache a lot. Better pace myself. This is going to take a while.

It sure is nice, having some good cooking to eat. I missed the wife's cooking badly.

Y'all have a great Saturday.

Hi GUYZ,

WOW did it rain here yesterday.  We got about 3 inches in a half hour.  I got a little rain in basement just the usual got it all sopped up.  I went down to BARRYs Train Shop yesterday and I have been saving for the Lionel VL Hudson since June and finally popped on it.  Got it home and ran it.  WOW what a great running, sounding, looking engine.  With all the nit pickig by the rivet counters on the other forum being said about this engine I am really pleased with what Lionel did.

FIFE, hope things went good on your ride?  Hope they didn't pull your finger or did the one cheeck sneak?

DON, sorry for the loss of your UNCLE may he rest in peace.

Gotta go, going to the Gun Show down at the Farm Show complex in Harrisburg.

Stay frosty,

Hey, you all.....

Just to let everyone know I am fine and still around.  Go to post, and cant think of anything to report on and end up sleeping.  Tonight thought of a bunch of stuff.

- Got to Reno and back with no problems, just a heck of a lot of desert out there to travel.  Did get a compliment from a guy driving a "Vette", that I sure had one "quick" El Camino.  That was pretty good especially coming from a guy with a Vette.

- Did have some sad news, an Uncle of mine who lived in Arkansas passed a week ago.  Unfortunately, his 2 kids (ages 35 and 50), are heavily in drugs, and didn't have the money to pay for the funeral, etc..  His last surviving sister called to let me know.  And between her, a couple of cousins, and my brother, sent the money for the cremation.  (He didn't want any funeral or anything just cremated and ashes placed with his wifes ashes.

- Then some good news too, my sister who lives in Michigan, and is in here on little world doesn't have anything to do with ANY family members.  Well her middle daughter contacted me a wanted to re-establish a relation ship.  Talk about fantastic, it is.  So between my brother and myself, we have been talking quite a bit to her.  So sometimes it just takes time, but eventually a lot of times things do come around.  Then a couple of days ago my sister's ex-husband of about 30 years called me.  He lives only about 30 miles from me.  So were going to get together for lunch next week.

- Went to the train club a couple of weeks ago, and LA City, and Parks dept have decided to start charging rent for all organizations that occupy any land.  (Club location is at Fort Mac Arthur in San Pedro, was sold to the city for $1., but had to be used for public benefit.)  Anyway, the impact on annual dues, will drive the cost to between $375 to $400 per year.  And, with it being a 70 mile round trip, just makes it too expensive.  Could end up being disastrous.

- Our great govenor has put into affect a cut on state parks and museums.  One of them impacted is "Railtown" located in the Sierra's in northern California.  I was there a long time ago, but it is one of the few places with an operating turntable.  They also do excersions, and have a large volunteer force.  It is probably most famous for the filming location of Peticoat Junction.  In addition to 100's of other films, TV shows etc..  It is also quite historic.  Sure hope someone or a group picks it up and makes a revenue center out of ! (This is one of the many punishments taxpayers here are receiving since the most resent tax extensions where defeated.)  Legislation is in process to permit counties to impose a Income Tax, too !

- Worked all day on my shed, reconfiguring it too accomodate "rock" storage for Chris. And, wiring it up for some internal and external lights.  Will be able to have better light for using the (B-B-Q) grill.

Glad to hear all the good news everyone has been reporting, adoption activities, Chuck coming home, Roy doing better, minimal flooding damage, and more.  Also glad, Bob (sumilmtr) is doing well!  Hope the job situation improves as well. Now all we gotta do is support Doug(DG), and Ray's sisters health and recovery rebounds.  Also hope the job situation improves for everyone.  It is tough having to go thru those issues in these economic times.

Getting late, and have an early morning, so hope everyone has a great week-end !

Take care all!

Don

Met a good friend at lunch today. He retired a while back and just got back home from a big vacation trip to Europe. He and his wife had tons of pics from Germany and Paris, but the best were from England, where they visited the war museum and all the usual sites.  Wish I could go!

Good evening,

We had another test today and I did well again - it's amazing how studying affects the outcome.  I have a paper due Monday so I will spend some time writing this weekend.  Tomorrow, my classmates and I are going to volunteer some time at a local elementary school.  We will paint some walls, perform some carpentry work, and do other odds and ends.  The schools in Montgomery are not in the best condition and they appreciate the help.

SP Ray - I'll continue to pray for your sister.

Dennis - Somehow I believe delaying retirement will seem very much worth it.  I hope all goes well with the adoption process.

Jack - The Yankees could end the Sox's playoff hopes this weekend.

I need to get to sleep now; a couple of us are going for a 10-mile run in the morning before our volunteer time.

Good night,

Joe

Good evening all, got an update on sis.  She had a good day today with radiation.  They found some position she could get into without giving her a lot of pain during the treatment.  Gave her a phone call tonight and she sounded pretty good considering.  Had a nice talk with my niece who was with her.  She is the one putting out the updates every day.  I felt a little better myself today and was able to help wife getting food for someone at the church pantry.  Made myself a little cart to put things on so I could avoid lifting and hauling.

Good night and thanks for prayers,

Ray

RT,

I talked to the seller again this afternoon.  He came down a good bit from the price on the windshield to a point that I am comfortable.  He seems to know about these cars, and I don't have any concerns as to integrity there.  I've made the car sound worse than it actually is, but it is nice aside from the tarns issue.  If it starts and sounds healthy, I am good to go.  I worked alongside an older guy at my previous job who's son is a Ford tech that specializes in transmissions.  He helped me get my 97 back up when no one else could help, and refused to take any money for his time. Thumbs Up

The problem could just be in the linkage, but I won't know until I dig in.

V8Dennis,

What worries me is that the five speeds in these cars are quite solid.  For one to go, the car was probably beaten.  The automatics fail by regular use though even with fluid and filter changes every 10-15K, and are aound $2K to have rebuilt.  Did that around 174,500 miles on mine.  Still, I feel like I am supposed to save this 95.Smile  I'd hate to pass on it and see it get crushed.

Think you need to let this one get crushed. your giving out bad warning signs you need to listen to What worries me is that the five speeds in these cars are quite solid.  For one to go, the car was probably beaten.

Good morning all,

Chuck, it is great to see your first post from home.  Have a wonderful day and welcome back.

Dennis, Happy anniversary and many more.  Also prayers and best wishes for the adoption process.

Roy, good luck on the post steriod meds for your pains.  I'm sort of in the same boat and maintaining with only one Aleve pill per day.  No heavy lifting or heavy exercise either.  Keep us posted.

Chief, good luck on your procedure, whatever the gurney and Fleet is for.  Got an idea, I have been there myself.

Getting reports about once a day about my sister in Jacksonville, N.C.  Her daughter is posting updates.  She is getting radiation every day this week.  Since her back has been affected by cancer, it is very painful for her to lie on her back during these treatments.  I don't know why they can't give her something to make her more comfortable during these treatments but there must be a reason.  My wife and I need to talk about trying to visit some of our releatives who are sick on the East Coast.  We are both feeling our age and haven't traveled by air in a long time.  I hear its a big hastle now but it must still be better than trying to drive coast to coast.  Taking the train is out of the question without sleeping accomodations and if you do that, it cost as much as flying.  Decisions, decisions.  I still have enough air miles for several free tickets but we better go in the fall or spring.  They don't have many of those seats at busy times.  We have relatives in New Hampshire, Virginia, Florida and North Carolina.  My sister in N.C. says they have an airport in Jacksonville but I don't think my carrier, American, goes there.  Probably have to go to Charlotte, Raleigh or Norfolk and drive from there.

No train meeting at my house last night.  Too hot and had dinner engagement.  Son took wife and I out for dinner.

Time for Cheerios now in Chuck's honor.

Have a good day all,

Ray
