Good Morning

55 and kinda gloomy

Dennis that's a well written article especially from someone of a different faith. I give him a thumbs up for that. A super morning here, got granny up and downstairs, she wanted to sit in the living room so I said ok watch for the Fedx truck. About 10 minutes later she calls out, trucks here. Got me A Lionmaster NYC SD 80, the catalog says SD90, don't care really I love it. Bought it from a forum member. My favorite train store broke up the sets but sold off the engines while silly me was trying to decide. I've been trying to find one ever since. One more day and Sept. will be history.Crying...S.J.

Good morning everyone,

Just polished off my Cheerios with strawberries but I could not find any sugar. Wife used it all for the hummingbird feeders.

I am ready for some outside work today.

Temp is 57 now just of Marseilles and looks like it is going to be sunny and in the low 70s today. The leaves are starting to change and I can wait for them to fall because I have tons of them. Well they look nice now.

My son is on his way over and we are going to do some serious wood chopping. Well at least the log splitter is. I will run the chainsaw and he can do the grunt work. Finally over that attack of gout I had so I can walk again. I never had it before and it took 12 day to calm down. I know a lot of guys that have had it so they coached me through it.

Have a great day all!

Kevin.

Doug,

Where do they place the Quiet Cars, are they very popular?  They don't sound very attractive to me, but I have never been able to use the Metro for routine travel.  I have managed to go on two trips for the experience.

Aloha from a cool, but clear Crystal Lake. All the leaves are changing color. It looks like a nice fall. Wow, Jack, what a finish! Brutus, you sure got your use out of that water heater. We replaced ours a few years back - we have pretty hard water too that helps wear them out. It wasn't cheap but with all the teens, I got the biggest one I could. Don B., Metra started up Quiet Cars too - two to a train. The battles have begun  because even if your phone 'bings' you get looks. LOL.

Chuck, some of my favorite times are when I can just sit and enjoy the blessings around me.  Your being able to do so is a blessing of itself.  It is good to see you here.

Sir James, came across this article, thought you would like it:
http://www.ncregister.com/blog/tim-drake/what-you-wont-see-on-screen-in-courageous#ixzz1ZLC5ro00

While I don't remember him, it was a great day while we filmed the race he speaks of.  I too took part in the race, but I doubt I can be seen.  Jim Bob Duggar is a nice person to speak with, real down to earth.

God Bless,

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cloudy 58 degrees. Suppose to be sunny today.

Today is a busy day. I have exercises to do and a few little chores to help out.

Been going outside when it's sunny and sitting on the glider on the back deck. Feels good to be outside. Peaceful.

Dining car has rolled in and we are having Cheerios for breakfast. Then, it is off to all Points West.

Y'all have a great Thursday.

Good morning everyone.  I am still on call and again will be heading in a little later.  Fortunately, I did not get called in again last night, so that is a blessing.  Have to stop off at the movie theater on my way in to pick up some tickets for one of our kids teachers.  We have had some storms in the area, but little in the way of rain here.  I hope it hits today so that the weather is good for all to attend the movie tomorrow and through the weekend.

One of my train buddies from the hospital got a steam generator car for his HO pike.  It has smoke "steam" that is released from its blow down pipes.  Looks cool, but he was having trouble to get it to run properly.  Has some dip switches that had to be properly set prior to operating.  Got him straight on that, but I probably should tell him not to run it dry....

I am considering setting up a layout at the hospital, but will check into things as the administration and lawyers may have an issue with that.  We shall see.

Take care and may Y'all have a blessed day.

Evening All....

V8Vega

I just saw the TV forcast 88 Thurs, 90 Fri, 90 Sat, 84 Sun, 85 Mon.

Dennis  San Fernando Valley CA.

Dennis - AND were suppose to get rain this weekend (?).  I hope so.  But, even if we do I doubt it will be worth getting the rain gauge out for.  Unlike the guys in PA, I dont think we will have much trouble drying out.  Anyway, Ray would probably get the worst of it.

Went to the train club this afternoon, everything ran pretty well.  Did have a little difficulty with a TMCC and DCS lash-up, works well at home, but not at the club.  One of the newer guys had a engine that everyone was having difficulty with in TMCC.  Checked it out and it was a 3-Rail engine, with QSI sound only.  Everyone was quite embarrased over that.  Obviously, it was a really nice looking engine.

Newest thing in LA  Metro Rail system,  a new "Quiet" car !  This aught to be good! No radios, MP3, cell phones, laptops, blue tooth devices, electronic games, .... nothing, AND if you MUST talk, you need to whisper.  It will be interesting how the rules are communicated to all, and in all the necessary languages.  Also how they are going to enforce it.  Seats are on a first come first serve basis.   Should be interestingLaugh

Have a wedding to go to this weekend, nephew's #3, wedding.  And, its down in Temecula, Sunday late afternoon.  Sigh

Hope everyone has a great day.

Prayers guys.  Nothing much going on except I need to replace hour hot water heater.  The old one is about 15 and apparently the pressure valve is leaking just a little bit.  I think it's due to the change in the temps, up and down?  I could replace the valve, but at this point that WH is well beyond it's projected lifetime and we actually have pretty bad water here.  These things have gotten pretty pricey haven't they?  I think the last time I bought a new one was in my old house and that was about 17 years ago.

Tardis is ready and I see some beacons, so let's get going!

Back on the hill for another few days a work. Working w/ the new mechanic on finishing the summer shutdown list and making progress. We are getting closer to start up.

Don - the Ambrose book on the TransCon is one of my favorites as well. I pick it up and re-read it every so often.

John - thoughts and prayers for your injured fellow workers.

Well, back to finishing up a few projects.

Just typed a letter to the Gov. requesting her to over rule DOT on a traffic signal request.  Another on to the DOT Division Engineer.  Type them at the lake house and come here to email them [WiFI Road Runner].

Don't worry Chief, we are working on the Roseyville by-pass to take all that traffic out of town.  Due to environmental and cultural resources concerns it appears that the by pass will be five to ten miles away from Roseyville.  I would say that within two years after construction, Roseyville will be a ghost town especially after Chuck's snow cannon lands a few direct hits.  Smile, Wink & Grin

Good evening guys.  Long day of it.  Had some minor cases, but they were stretched all day long.  Had to do a fitness survey on the computer at work which is linked to the results of our physicals, etc.  Says I am in good health.....ah, Yeah, right.  Also had to take the classes on line for the Hague treaty regarding international adoptions.  Finished all twelve hours of them today.  At least that is behind me.

Rich, many years ago, when I left the group in NJ and came south, the group owed me a good amount of cash and was holding things up.  I just blew it off as the offer down here was good enough to compensate.  Probably could have won a judgement rather easily, but at the time, it wasn't worth my efforts.  I do wish you luck in yours.  You may have luck in going to whoever is over the person who is refusing to pay you.  Let them know that it will be cheaper than paying the owed amount plus legal fees.

Chief, good luck in fighting the DOT.  I have had reps from DOT tell me about supposed "rules" and how they can't do something because of them.  Well, I found that they were full of it and when challenged, they turned tale.  Perhaps your influence will sway the powers that be.  Good luck again.

Chuck, it is good to see you posting on a regular basis again.  Just make sure you keep up the good work.  Got a lot of folks who care and want to see you doing well.  Looking forward to your running the high iron soon.

God Bless,
Dennis

Good morning all,

Chief, I saw a story in the LA. Times about Rick Perry from 1992 when the Republican National Convention was held in Houston.  Apparently Eastern North, Carolina Bar-B-Que was served there and Perry made the comment that he had "tasted better road kill than this stuff".  Don't know why they dig something up that is that old but I thought it was funny.  Down East in North Carolina, Bar-B-Que criticism is like touching the third rail when it comes to food.  The supplier of the bar-b-que, Kings Bar-B-Que came back with the comment that Perry apparently had eaten road kill and was in a position to judge..  Touche!

Chuck, had Cherrios today in your honor.  Keep up the good work.

Still waiting this morning for news about my sisters outcome yesterday with her oncologist.  Will call later if I don't get E Mail from daughter.

later,

Ray

Hudson John - been looking everyday...no worries!

Rainy day here in Central NJ - about 11 PM last night had a real nice car fire...senior guy on the nozzle (Smile, Wink & Grin), did a heck of a job on the extinguishment.  Nice brandy new Hyundai Sonata (how is THAT for irony?).  Gotta love it....Laugh

Princess starts a new job today, to go along with her dancing gig (same place, actually) and just dropped her off.  Night class at 6 and she gets out at 5.  College is a mere 7 minutes away.

Well, ex-job stiffed me on the bonus as expected, so off to litigation tomorrow.

Good to see Chuck every morning!!!

Spanky - Go Knights!!

Other than that, maybe the Sox will force the playoff...gotta see that!

Aloha. Rain again.  Guessed wrong as to bringing the umbrella because it was dry at home. But dodged most of the drops. Ran Thomas and his pals last night - first time in a while - whilst brainstorming layout redesigns. The day-dreaming is fun!  Joe, Ozzie was being Ozzie again. He asked to double his salary and his years... and for a change in his relationship with the GM Kenny Williams. The owner picked his GM and no early extension. Ozzie was refreshingly honest and entertaining earlier in his managerial career but he wore out his welcome. It'll be interesting how he adjusts to a non-baseball-crazed town in FL. $2 million a year will help. Big Smile

Jack,

I haven't done much because I've been distracted since June.WinkI am going to get back into it as we get into Fall/Winter.  I just picked up a 783 Hudson last night, so I have been pulled back in.  I've always wanted a 773/783.

Work was relatively uneventful last night.  While doing battle with an HP 4015n printer, I was going back and forth to my PC to put a bid on a 783 Hudson (hey, I've got to have some fun at work when I am there by myself at night).  I got the lifter motor for the tray on the printer working, and won the 783.  It is lightly used with the box and paperwork, and I got it for $304 before shipping.Thumbs Up  Should help me feel better about turning down that Forzda mess last week.Oops - Sign

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is early. I woke up at 5 am and couldn't get back to sleep. I have a lot of things on my mind. Have to slow it down a bit. Getting a lot of exercise by the daily routine of the day. My legs are getting stronger as each day goes on. Giving them plenty of rest too.

Leaves on the trees are starting to turn colors. Should be pretty soon.

Dining car has rolled in with Cheerios for breakfast.
