Sounds good to me!!

That rain delay has become a suspended game picking up the action where it left off on Saturday night. What a letdown
SJ - It's a shame too because even though Cy Young Verlander was a bit wild I thought this was going to be a good one.
Jack - Wasn't that what the Dodgers use to say?
Good night all!
Joe - good luck on the run
Bob - I fought getting a cell phone, but now I use mine all the time. Maybe too much!
RT -
Prayers for your trip, Ray. Also for Charlie's sciatica.
Went to funeral home tonight to pay respects for neighbor's son. They lost two sons to muscular dystrophy. Then we went to get our hair cut as a family. Picked up some icecream on the way home and watched some tv. Nice chats with Charlie, RT, John, and SJ - in order of pickup.
Tardis is ready - let's get a move on!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Good evening all,
We had a busy Friday today. The sporting events were fun and my team did well even though we didn't win. The Yankees-Tigers game is delayed right now. I don't mind since I need to hit the sack early tonight because I have a half-marathon to run tomorrow morning. It starts at 0700.
Charlie - Have fun tomorrow.
Laz - As Jack already stated, the spend a ton of money strategy doesn't always work. And how about those Devil Rays?
Jack - We don't have time to wait until next year because we are too busy playing right now.
DJ Spanky - My wife uses Shutterfly and enjoys it. I use Photobucket: I have never had any problems and it is easy to use.
V8 and SP Ray - I am part of the generation who enjoyed MJ's better music; however, he was always kind of strange. I believe the trial, as are many others, is very over televised. I don't like to think this, but somehow I feel his family is only doing this to get money. MJ's brother, Jermaine, commented how MJ placed a down payment on a house shortly before his death. I wonder how one of the highest paid entertainers of all time would even need to use a down payment. His family would have probably sued the doctor if he didn't give MJ any painkillers.
Subbob - I only have a cell phone because the AF gives me one.
Good night,
Joe

Mowed lawn like a wild man to beat the rains, finished in near record time, but I overdid it with my pace. No matter, it sure feels good to have that behind me. Time to rehydrate and play with the
Spanky......at least you are able to play. My knee limits what I can do. Anything that requires pivoting is out, and I had to give up many sports I love. I hear you about finding a match with players that want to try to improve and play as a team. It is difficult because there are as many different mindsets as there are players, from cutthroat to the goof off and everything in between.
RaySP.......prayers continue for your Sis. News on your your cross country trip to visit her sounds great!!!. This is not meant to be a lecture to the younger guys on the Pot, but when the decades and miles start piling up on some of us, the things we once took for granted and to which once we didn't give a second thought become major obstacles. My Dad once told me that the extent and level to which I participated in sports when I was younger would catch up to me eventually, said some of my body parts would feel like I was 75 when chronologically I was only 50. He got that right.
Chief........what has come over you? Which President are you taliking about? The one for the North or the one for the South?
Gotta run. Later, gang.

DJSpanky Hey, I have no place to store photos on the web - my buddy used to have a server with a ton of space on it, but he had to decommission the server and no longer has that setup. So any recommendations for an online service (i.e., flickr, shutterfly, etc.) to upload and store photos on?

I use Shutterfly to store all of my photos and I have never had any difficulties. Its a simple "copy" from the site, and "paste" into the body of the entry on a thread here, once you have the photos uploaded from your computer. I don't remember who they work with to actually print photos if you want them. I thought it was either Target or Walgreens, but I could be wrong.

V8, Dennis, I have to agree with you about Michael Jackson. However, I am from a different generation so was never interested in that kind of music. Hard to say what a jury will decide but I think the ulitmate responsibility lies with the doctor. Never mind that it was Jackson who wanted all this medication to keep up his hectic schedule, the doctor should have know better but let him have it anyway for financial gain. Sad situation.
Been busy all morning trying to nail down a reservation to go see my sister with cancer in North Carolina. Finally got one but have to fly out of LAX. Ontario is closer to me but L..A. is OK. One of my son's will go with me and help me through it all. We are leaving on November 5th. and will return on Nov. 8th.
Went to dentist yesterday for cleaning. Have to go back on Monday for partial work and then back on Tuesday to send my partial to the lab. Suppose to get it back by the same afternoon so won't be "toothless" for long.
Hope everyone is doing OK. Had so much on my plate lately, I haven't had time to keep up on the forum.

Aloha and TGIF. Grey today and windy. Sent rain off to points east. Maybe it'll clear up. The Tevatron at FermiLab shuts down today at 2 pm. (sniff) We'll be babysitting our pastor's kids after work whilst he and his wife get a date-night. Hope to run some trains this weekend. Working video at church on Sunday. I'm sure my bride has things for me to do tomorrow that I haven't learned of yet.

Good Mornin' Ya'll From Clear and Sunny Taxachusetts,
Rains moved off overnight and it is a seasonal 56 this morning with 70s on tap and rain on the way late in the day. Fall has commenced with a slight change in the color of the leaves and a few have begun to drop. The Topsfield Fair kicks off today, the longest continuing operating agricultural Fair in the US pushing 200 years. The pumpkin weigh-off is tonight..
Got over an inch of rain yesterday and last night with some severe thunderstorms and high winds; and the wet stuff has been with us throughout the week....nothing close to what Laz and some of you have been getting (and Roy needs). The lawn? I am following SJ's lead on this one. Knocked off the front and the sides with the mower and I'll tackle the back before the rains return.....and it will be a tad more difficult because there is about 10 day's growth out there. Wet or no, it's gotta go.
Lots of good and encouraging news from youse guyz. Roy and SP Ray won't quit and are making orthopedic progress. Fife has survived the plumbers. Granny has mastered the stairs, has SJ's number, and has him backpedalling now. Brent and the Q are basking in the glow of what their little girl has brought to them. DougDG is pressing his Docs to hurry up with the fine adjustments. Brutus' Char is doing the same and making amazing progress. Rich has an indomitable attitude and will prevail on the search front. DonB has made some uplifting family inroads and is setting an example for all of us. SubmmBob is scaling the highest mountains. The Chief continues to overextend himself, for others. JimSP is discovering that it only takes $ to overcome a space issue in his house. As a granddad, he has no superior. JoeyD is giving his all for his family and country with some separation from his loved ones thrown in for the time being. Not much from Lee here lately, but he has put some pieces together....prayers continue things are settling down for him.
And Chuck is outdoing all of us and showing us how it is done. Like Rocky Balboa, he keeps getting up, defying the odds, and winning.
Prayers for those whose work and personal life seem to be in direct conflict, with each of us expected to do far more with less, and that would be too many of us. I know I missed a whole bunch of you guys, so please accept my apologies. I'll have to catch up on my reading and stoke my memory.
Dennis......you and your wife must be bursting with pride and a sense of personal satisfaction over your boy's report card, a testament to the notion that parenting makes a world of difference. For some children the results come earlier in a child's life and for some it comes much later. As a grandparent I just hope I can continue to make a difference in my children and be there in all the ways a grandparent can to help the grandkiddies.
The sun also rises. That we can count on. Today's seemingly overwhelming challenges become tomorrow's memories and are forgotten next week as we take on new ones.
What that has to do with overcoming my lawn mowing dilemma today I'll never know.
Later, gang.
PS: AF Ray, Rich, and JoeyD........DougM and I have just four words for you, wait til next year.!!!!
Hello all,

Good morning,
Nothing new on the train front here.
Chuck, Looks like you are doing better. Enjoy the outdoors and the glidder.
Rich, Enjoy the game and beautiful downtown Newark.
SJ, Enjoy the new engine. I am glad thet Granny is recovering.
Dennis, Kids have a way of making us proud of them.
Charlie, Hang in there about coming home late from work. Sometimes I wish that I never left the union and went into management.
Bob, Lucky it was just an egg. Every so often we go thru a spell at work with rocks/bricks getting dropped off overpasses on our trucks and cars. Lucky for us nobody has been hurt.
Everyone have a great day,
John
Hello all
Just got home from the mountain. A rather late day. The Blazer got nailed w/ an egg while going under an overpass near Willcox, AZ. Not sure it was from a nest or some late night hooligans. No damage but a bit startling. Of course, that was when the washer fluid had to run out.
Should be an interesting weekend. Got a lot scheduled tomorrow. Taking care of odds and ends. And I am going to get a cell phone. Yes, that's right, the guy who runs the world's most accurate radio telescope doesn't have a cell phone. At the request of a few friends, I am going to try one again.
Off to find a pillow.

Another late night at the office...... seems like its getting to be the norm.
Looking forward to chasing 765 with the family on Saturday. Her run from Ithaca to Cadillac, MI will put 765's route just a short drive from my cabin. Fall color and the smell of coal fired steam in the air.....should be fun.

Joe our next club meet is Oct. 8, if I feel comfortable about leaving granny the loco will be there for Charlies camera.
I don't have much new to report here, just plugging along with class work. Tomorrow morning we have a four hour sporting event. The instructors won't tell us all the details, but it involves athletic ability as well as intelligence. It is a competitive event where all the classes competed against each other. It should be fun and it gets us out of the classroom for a while.
Jack and Laz - Last night was the only time I was ever happy to see the Yankees lose. The loss ended the Sox's season.
Doug CNW - I don't think Ozzie's antics will win him any fans in Florida.
SJ - I'm looking forward to seeing photos of the new engine.
I need to get to bed now; I have to wake up at 0500.
Evening all!
Well it hit 100 today and we have storms making a lot of rumbling but nothing but sprinkles here. Temps to drop tomorrow and 80's. Nice weekend on tap. HS football tomorrow night. Our son's HS band is in a marching competition Saturday. The State Fair of Texas starts this weekend and we plan to go Sunday. Whew?
Chuck - glad you got outside. That really is refreshing.
SJ - sounds like Granny is doing better!
Dennis - sorry about your bad day today.
Neck is better today. Hope no more setbacks in store. MRI scheduled for Friday next week.
Busy day tomorrow! Have a great day tomorrow all!
Regards, Roy
sir james I Dennis that's a well written article especially from someone of a different faith. I give him a thumbs up for that.

On another front, it was a trying day. Had to deal with a rather un-pleasant issue at the hospital. No details, just one of those things I had to take care of. I was not happy about that and fortunately, I know better than to bring such things home to the family. In a complete 180 degree turn, came home to get son's report card. He had all A's which is great. When I called his teacher with the information on the tickets that we got for her family, she said "I wish I had a class full of kids like Ricky"....made me feel great! I am a proud dad.
I must get going. Hope each of you has a blessed night.Dennis

Dennis, a train layout in the hospital sounds like a nice idea. Years ago, I helped with a small one at a local children's hospital. The issues: space, security, liability. Permanent 'display' layouts aren't institutionally popular, but something the kids could play with for therapeutic reasons worked for a while. We presented it as sort of a powered, wooden-train table...Don B. and Rich, I think Metra got the idea from NJT. I've never seen something implemented so fast since they took off the bar cars. They are very very popular. Depending on train length, it is the 3rd car in from both sides. There's a small 'shush' sign outside the car, and cards saying be quiet inside. But most problems seem to arise from folks not realizing it. Then again, Metra publishes an newsletter distributed in car racks that's full of hilarious complaints. See http://metrarail.com/metra/en/home/utility_landing/newsroom/on_the_bi-level.htmlSJ, congratulations on the new addition. That sounds like a great engine.
Hey Guys,
Cloudy today, rain later.
Long night of baseball and home work...geez, I was REALLY looking forward to the 1 game playoff.
Not much going on here, really. Just got back from college and it appears I have the rest of the day off...Princess has a ride from college to work and home.
Quiet cars on NJ Transit have been going on for a few months. It's the first and second cars of the train. And there have been some fights and arguments about relocating the offenders...hey, its JERSEY!! But after much ado, everyone has figured it out and with much success. I may take a trip to NYC and check it out.
