Good Morning,

I test ran the engines that I got back from the Train Room, excellent repairs. I definitely recommend them.

Dennis, I totally agree with the Heroe bumper sticker.

SJ, 8 year old battery. I think you got your money's worth.

Aloha. I see the sun here which is a nice change. It was a busy weekend - watched the pastor's little kids Friday night, visited with friends Sat, and worked three services as video director, then saw a play with the bride. Caught up with the latest Doctor Who show too. Teen cut the front lawn - just to top off the sea of dandelions. It's a relief being back at work. Big Smile

Mornin' fellas and gals;   Couldn't sleep well last night. No joy in my house today.  Thoughts turn to my first cousin's only son  Frank Schott Jr., 32, father of two, a bond trader on the 106th floor; didn't have a chance, died in the collapse.  Michael Weinburg, 30, single, fireman, neighbor and close family friend, was sweet on my daughter for a while before she gave her heart to someone else. Died in the collapse.  Father Judge, chaplin for many nyc's agencies including mine. Everything you'd expect a man of the cloth to be; caring, compassionate and a great sense of humor. Died while giving last rights to victims in the plaza of WTC. To escape blazing inferno, a person jumped and struck Father Judge killing them both instantly. My son-in-law, who escaped and survived only because he was giving blood at the time at another location.  He's still on the job today.  No, there is no joy here today, just a sense of perspective of the events that led us to the only conclusion possible. God bless America, land of the Free and home of the Brave!   As my wife's favorite singer Toby says:  Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue!   later.

Think good thoughts, do good deeds!

Good morning all,

IIARDISEI (It is another rainy day in South Eastern Indiana, might as well as use another acronym as the first one will probably never get used again).  Perhaps the recent events will yield even more positive results down the line.  Will Power wins soggy Brazil.  Team Red sweeps top four positions.  Why do I even bother anymore?  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good morning all,  watched the news last night.  I agree that I did not feel like cheering but glad justice was done.  Nothing can ever compensate for the brave and innocent that were lost.  Thank God, he can't plan anymore terrorist projects himself.  We must still and always be vigilant against these bums.

Nothing much going on at the Pat and Ray cooking show this morning.  I finished off some pulled Pork from Costco yesterday.  Man, that was really bad.  Won't buy anymore of that.  Nothing like real Carolina Bar-B-Que.  Had first of the season corn on the cob with sockeye wild caught salmon last night.  Yum, Yum!

Train meet yesterday.  I took one item to sell on friend's table.  It was a new in the box Railking graduated trestle set.  Wound up giving it away so I would not have to take it home.  Even had trouble doing that.  Had to ask several people before I found a home for it.  Glad I did not pursue sales for a living.

Have a good week all,

Ray

Lunch Time,

Today is bittersweet for me. I am glad that we finally got Bin Laden but it is also a time of reflection. I remember 9-11-01 too well. Our garage is not far from NYC. It is in a flight pattern to the NY area airports. Everything was quiet for days. All we saw was military aircraft. The Vol Fire Co that I belong to was dispatched with the first wave from Jersey. Families that I know lost loved ones. The smoke extended down the Coast over 60 miles. When the first plane hit, I just finished my first pass on a welding recertification test. I thought it was an accident. When the second plane hit I was on the second pass. Then we knew there was trouble. Also remember those that lost their lives in the Pentagon hit and the brave souls aboard the plane that crashed in Pa. Remember the words, "Let's Roll". Time to stop and reflect and remember those that were lost and their families.

Buckeye Riveter

Another quiet weekend.  Whistling

As they say, the rest of the story:

WILD WEEKEND at the LAKE.....At 11:30 pm, Saturday night the door bell rapidly rang twice. I arose from bed and turned on the lights on the porch. I found a young girl standing on the porch scared and asking me to call 911. The call was made. The young girl, of about 21years, claimed she had been drugged and attacked at a party down the street. She ran to our house barefoot and without her cell phone. Wife and I put her in a blanket and sat her down on the porch swing. We turned off all the lights making our house extremely hard to find by anyone. The Deputies showed up within minutes of my call. She asked the police to call her parents. She reiterated that she thought she had been drugged and could not remember everything that occurred. She believed she had broken a window as she left the house. She also remembered being lifted over the heads of the group. The local squad took her to the hospital. She was scared, but it was not what you would normally think. She was scared of the 5-6 girls at the house, not the one boy.
The big city is so tame.

Thank you SEAL TEAM 6.

Good evening everyone.  I too have mixed feelings.  In some sense, it is closure to a number of open chapters of friends who have died, both on 9/11 and in the fight since.  On the other hand, the fight is far from over and I know that many will have to continue to fight and the world in which my young children are growing up has drastically changed from what we had to grow up in.  I am extremely proud of our military for a job well done.  Just up the road from our house, a 17 year old girl and someone else were killed in an accident yesterday.  Sad.

God BLess,
Dennis

All the people I knew in the attack were lucky and got out.  I am overjoyed that we have removed this threat from the world and pray we are vigilant and already zeroed in on the others that would plot and kill our friends and families.  God bless the Navy Seals who were involved.  I hope the weight they put in the sack with his corpse was a millstone.  Stayed up too late talking with my wife about this, but I'll sleep good tonight!

TARDIS is ready and RT is already here and rewiring some switches in the control room - something about automatic routing??????

Good day for the home team yesterday.  Unfortunately, we dare not let our guard down.  Bin Laden was just one head on the hydra.

Scored a MKT boom car on e-bay last night for cheap.  Was not really looking to buy one of these, but the price was right, and it fits in with a big bunch of my other stuff.

All for now.

Wow! Alot of emotions going on today. All understandable and the comments all make sense. I for one was at work that day and was listening to the radio. It was the only radio in the office and this was before we had internet on our computers at work. Everyone was in my office. I can't think of anything that happened in decades that drew more attention. In many of our lives it might be the biggest event ever, for those born after the late fifties. Well a large part of that chapter is over but not completely done.

Summing my feelings up, today makes me feel a little bit prouder to say God bless America!

Good evening all,

I have a brief moment for a quick check-in as I am staying very busy training some folks while I'm here in GA.  The weather is nice, but there seems to be a ton of some sort of gnats that are everywhere.  I have never experienced a pest problem like this up north Chief.

AF53 Ray - The Yankees won tonight which is a great way to start off a road trip.

Dennis - No worries on Folkston.

I'll try to catch up more tomorrow.

Good night,

Well we got all the parts we need to finish the crane project and our mechanic is working on putting them in. I will help him wire a strobe light tomorrow afternoon so hopefully we will be good to go on Wednesday.

Other than that not much new going on, just another quiet night collecting photons.

Looking forward to getting some decent sleep at some point.

Today is a busy day. Grocery shopping and chores to do. I have an errand to run. I will be busy until this afternoon. Maybe a nap, then.

Morning all!

Back from my travels last week and over the weekend. Had 2.5" of rain yesterday. Rained all day so it was the good soaking kind. Also set new low temp records yesterday. Record "low" high of 53. Supposedly set a new "low" low temp last night (40?).

Today is 70 and sunny and quite nice. Will be back in the 80's by the weekend. Just in time for Mother's Day.

BTW - Have you done your Mother's Day planning yet? Doug M can provide you the standard checklist if not!

Have a great day all!

Rain, Rain, Rain, please go away and come back some other day. April was the wettest April on record in Central Ohio and May is off to very wet start. Farmers are starting to get a little concerned, the fields are still flooded and will take at least one to two weeks of dry weather so they can start planting.

Since I can't get outside for yard work for more than a single day at a time the trains have been getting a good work out plus some new train shelving is going up in the basement.

Morning (at least for the next minute) guys, nice day out.  Didn't sleep well last night and had a early morning bible study.  Getting ready to head in.  Had to drop off some clothes for "the Lord's Pantry" which is a local charity.

Joe, ah the Gnat, I have called it the Georgia State Bird.  They say that there is a "Gnat Line" which runs across the state at the level of Macon.  When we were filming, we had to have lots of bug spray because of these things.

Hope that the day is going well for everyone.  I suspect we will be seeing some photos later today.  Y'all take care,
Dennis

Good Mornin' Ya'll From Sunny Taxachusetts,

Saturday night's Burger Night was a huge success......think 30 showed up, and a surprise 40th B-Day party (early) was mixed in for good measure.  New gas grill worked to perfection.  One friend volunteered for grill duty, thankfully.

Started with freshly made egg burger rolls from the bakery. The burger content, all pre mixed in:  80% fresh ground beef, kosher salt , black pepper, worcestershire, onion powder, garlic powder, finely chopped chives and roasted red peppers.  One slice of sharp cheddar and one of pepper jack cheese, placed between two quarter pound patties, sealing the cheese inside by pressing the edges together.  Real french fries made in a frier with vegetable oil.  Salads, fruit out the ying yang, keg beer on tap and some special sangria concoction, and desserts to die for, many home made.  You know the burgers are good when No One used any condiments....and only the fresh sliced tomatoes were partially consumed.  Dinner

Even the finicky in the crowd chowed down, including three spoiled kids whose (different sets of) parents swore the little ones wouldn't eat a bite, won money on a bet with all three. Whistling

JimSP.....you are on a hot streak.  Congratulations on the house and camper sales!!!  Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

JimmyT.......prayers this one is a hit for you.  Angel

SubmmBob.......when are you going to learn that bosses must be tricked into believing something is THEIR idea before they get on board? Smile, Wink & Grin

Lawn mowing on tap as rain is approaching.

Later, gang.

Jack
