Truth be the truth. I always go by Buckeye's if I go to Cabela's or Bass Pro Shops anywhere near Ohizo. Been a while. Might just catch a flight with all those miles. Maybe a train.

Aloha. Sounds like a good weekend. Sunny and 90s today - a new record. Went to the parade through downtown Crystal Lake and honor guard ceremony at the local cemetery; still pretty small-town-ish. Which is nice. Then visited at a nearby lake with my inlaws and brother-in-law and family. Paddle-boats, hot-dog-lunch. That sort of thing. Now the youngest is washing both cars. Don't know what got into him but I want to encourage it. Teen studies for finals all day. Hope it helps. Joe, hope your daughter is healed-up soon. That showed true character.

Hey chief lets hear your version on how the coffee pot got started. I remember it being a little different something about you and bigboy Eliotte) talking one sunday

April 1, 2004, while I was in Savanah GA. for Bass Pro Shops Spring Fishing Event. I was doing a new thread each morning. [we did that on a bass fishing forum]. Big Boy [Elliot] suggested I do one and let it run. We did. Buckeye, Tom P., Big Boy and myself were about it. Then suddenly OGR folks showed up [they were mad with OGR due to suggested fees to post]. They stayed a few and that got resolved and they went back to OGR. Think the original Coffee Pot was the longest running thread in history. We were "jaming" up the server so CTT suggested we do a monthly one. Folks came and stayed. Those who did not "fit" or like us, left. That is fine. I think we have the best "gang" in the toy train world. While I was flying around the USA for Pro Mariner, if someone was near or in the city I was flying into, I tried to make a visit. Got to see Buckeye several times. He will not show the photo his good looking wife took in front of Rogers Corner Silo with me presenting him a bag of GRITS. Always shows the one without the grits. Bob Keller and CTT have been very gracious to allow us to "carry on" the way we do. This has built a "band of brothers" [stolen from Doug M.]. God bless us all.
Walking out the door to drive north to the lake house. Back next Sunday. Needles the cat will have to start the new Pot for June as I will be gone [unless I make the wireless at the country store, do it will be early]. Lucy is with me.
Good Evening

Thingie is running late - kids are on Summer clock and I lost track of time. Lucky we have that way-back circuit Laz and Mike rigged up for us. Sub-Bob fine tuned it and RT found the parts we needed. Don's neighbor was inspirational as well We did find a bag of grits gumming up the works, but Dr. Dennis was able to remove that without any contamination. Everybody run your beacons and we'll come get you and then go back to get the famous banilla and goodies. Pat can drive and Jack and I can sit and talk with my Dad for a while. Just don't bring up politics! This Coffee Pot is about the only place I go every single day on the web and I feel I have made some real friends here. I know I left a lot off that list like the Dougs, the Franks, a Bill, some Jims, some Johns, Wes, two Bruces, Chuck, Jon, Ray, Roy, and others who have been and gone, or even come back after a while. Don't forget Mysty, Penny, and some others. What ever happened to that guy from the Netherlands, I wonder? We also miss Reggie and the guy from Alaska, who apparently left the door open late into the year, this year! Dr. John, Spankybird, it's just too many! I think there are like 50 guys on here regularly, RT said - that sounds about right. Glad to know you all
Thanks especially to the veterans and their families!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Brutus - Thanks for letting me drive. Just be sure your seat belts are on. You know me when Don's neighbor is around!
I am relatively knew to the Pot (only 2 1/2 years) but I feel I know those you mentioned (except Mysty and Penny) and they are a great bunch.

DonB and all........
Brutus' summary is most revealing.
A couple of years ago there was a CTT Forum thread asking folks for their ages. I stopped counting @ about 30 the number of regular Pot contributors. They ranged in age from 14 to several in their 70s. There were some "regulars" whom I realized were conspicuously absent from revealing their age. I concluded they must have been in the Federal witness protection program.
If you consider the diverse backgrounds of folks who regularly read and/or post here, and a virtual LACK of p*ssing contests, you would have to conclude the opposite of what Don wrote about: some feelings of exclusion or an impenetrable "clique."
Show me just one other group of people this diverse that shows more respect, acceptance, and support to all. My church group isn't this inclusive, accepting, and supportive !!!
JimmyT wrote that in life one has to jump in and make their own way, if they want to. As in everything in life, one has to take what they want or need and disregard the rest. I write long, opinionated posts, much to some folks' consternation; and I realize my posts are tedious or aggravating to some. But I try to comment on other peoples' posts because their life and their opinions are no less important than my own. I do my best to post a welcome to each newcomer. And I don't get annoyed if folks find little interest in what I post. Each is free to skip every word. I take no offense.
As others have said so eloquently here, for the most part "we" have neither met one another nor spoken on the phone. Yet the content and tone of the exchanges here would indicate otherwise. And when it comes to support, one only has to read this thread for a week to realize for the most part "we" do care about the trials, tribulations, opinions, and feelings of each poster. In a cynical and dsyfunctional world, this forum is a breath of fresh air.
After I had been a CTT forums member for about three months the Chief began my rookie interrogation, noting that my profile said too little about myself. He proceeded to ask a whole bunch of questions, some kind of personal. I replied that he should read (the Pot) more because in the previous three months' posts I had already disclosed just about everything about myself "except the size of my underwear." I realized he started this thread. And I could see from the number of his posts how active he had been and how involved he had been. So I took his jabs and interrogation as good fun. If it wasn't, so be it.
When he noted I was a Yankee and poked some fun, I posted a fictitious history of Rolesville NC, inventing facts such as.... it got its roots in the 1700s as a penal colony and that the residents and mayor were all descendents of the original inmates. He could have taken offense but did not; rather, he posted a factual history of Rolesville.
When one tries to satisfy everyone, nobody wins. It can't be done. This forum has maintained a mantra of inclusion and respect. As JimmyT wrote, if you want to be included in the friendly exchanges, jump right in. If you wish to sit on the outskirts, do that. The POT is what you make it, for yourself and for others.
So DonB, please keep doing exactly what you have been doing. I just hope that those who take occasional umbrage about what is posted here step back and realize that your concept of inclusion is at the control of your fingertips.

Good Morning
guess I'll go to the June pot now..
Good afternoon Y'all!
Just a quick stop over as I have to go re-set some of the other computers as we had a issue with the phone lines here....someone used a aluminum can instead of tin. Anyway, AT&T finally got things straightened out, but now I have to redo the log ins for the other systems.
Hope everyone had a great Memorial day. I had to go in and do a case...again. I am finally off call and getting ready for some much needed time off.
God Bless,Dennis
