Good morning all,

It was a brisk morning but it is warming up to about 50 today.  I had a brief workout this morning; the first one in a few weeks due to the holidays.  I was expecting it to be harder than it was, but I survived it alright.  I'm heading to Stillwater, OK, today to do some work.  I may have some time to check out their Hobby Lobby and also pick up some Fastrack and misc. items a person was advertising on Craigslist.

CNW/Probe - I have a Flip Video camera.  I'm not sure what generation it is; I got it last year.  I used some extra airline miles to get it.  It shoots decent video and meets my needs.  I plan to use it this weekend to shoot an updated layout video.

Time to hit the road,

Joe

Guys,

Thanks for the compliments.  I am converting more videos right now, and I'll post them asap.

RT,

I've noticed that the " Welcome to Paoli" announcement changes to something else with each PFA cycle.  I've also heard announcements for Johnstown and Altoona among others.  The layover announcement also changes.

Laz,

GM designed the rear end of the Aerotrain to resemble a Nomad.

Doug,

I had the newest (third) generation of the Flip, and I've read that earlier generations had better video quality.  One nice thing about the Flip is that the files are output in .mp4, which can go straight to YT.  Canon outputs in .mov which is a huge file size, so I convert to .mp4 with Any Video Converter to make uploading faster.

I spent some time last night replacing a missing gasket in the 314AW.  Hopefully it will sound better.

Buckeye Riveter

Looking forward to the huge snowstorm heading towards Buckeyeland.  With the LOSS at the Sugar Bowl,  we are looking forward to poor prosperity for all Ohioians.  Now, I'm off to sell my old football jersey and get a couple of free tatoos of hulla girls on my tummy. Wink

Morning all.  Snohio missed us.  Too warm.  Just rain.  Calling for more off and on  for the next few days but the REB camp fires may keep it too warm and just be rain.

Got a shop light to hang in garage [replacement].  Then errands and meetings.

Have a good one.

Good morning

25 with lite snow, maybe an inch so they say.

$27 sounds like a Greenburg show with parking. We won't go when it's here for that very reason. If it was the only show in town one pop would be ok, but we have lot's of others. Sausage gravy over toast for breakfast. ..S.J.

Morning all!

Another sunny one and 50's today! Keep waiting for the artic express that is churning up off Don B's coast.

Chuck - I am looking forward to the days when the daily duties interfere with my normally scheduled afternoon nap!

Buckeye - $27 to park in Buckyeye land? I had a neighbor when I lived in Houston who bought the house next door to me when prices had really jumped up. He owned a parking lot. Automobile

Brutus - good to hear Char is doing well and that your friend got out of the hospital.

Have a great day today all!

Aloha all. Nice cinema, Jim. The Flip HD works for me - heck, the camera in the iPhone does a decent movie but I can see what you meant.  Working at home means I can't visit the Art Institute today Sad at lunch. Roy, I sure try to get out of the office and explore the city as I can.  One day I want to take half-a-day-off and take the South Shore all the way out to South Bend and back. Looks like an interesting ride.  DVD player died in the middle of the movie last night, so among my to-do list for today may be to look for another one. Good thing they're so inexpensive. Dennis, love how your bride encourages your train-work. I'll have to fit some in today too.

Morning all.  Getting ready to head in.  Wife will stay at the house and work on the decorations today.  Rained some more last night and I think the ground is thoroughly soaked.  Hope none of our trees fall down.

Jim, nice shot of the train.  With regard to the videos, I have a DSLR that takes video and perhaps I will get some on line...but knowing how I am, I doubt it.

Wife has informed me that I must get back to the trains!  Gotta love her!  I have been stuck doing so many honey-do's that trains have taken a back seat lately.

Should be an early one today, so I hope to get some train things done this afternoon.  Hope that each of you has a great day.
God Bless<

Good morning all,

It is suppose to get a dusting of Snohio today in SE Indiana.  Work went well, but intestinal issues kept me from soccer last night.  I had cereal and english muffins on the dining car.  TBIL anytime tonight.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good evening all,

I just finished the first introduction, prologue, and first chapter of a book I received as a present back in December.  I was planning to the run the trains for a bit tonight, but got caught up in the book.  A nice quiet evening at home for us: Teriyaki chicken for dinner followed by homemade chocolate chip ice cream.

Probe - Thanks for posting the video; that is a fantastic train.  Also, the camera quality seems great to me.

Brutus - Glad to hear the good reports.

Time for a quick check on eBay and then off to bed.

Good night,

Joe

Howdy guys.  Jeff is already home - it was some kind of microdiskectomy or something and they wanted to keep him over night, but he wanted out so he could smoke again.  They gave him meds and let him go home.  Sure hope he takes it easy and heals up.  Dad is doing well and so is Charlene.  She has a doc appt tomorrow and then PT on Friday.  Nice chat with RT earlier and now with SJ and Charlie.  Nothing much going on here, just work and stuff.  TARDIS is ready to fly, so let's get it going Smile

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

sir james I

Good evening

20s all day and overcast

Lunch plans with my cousin and wife had to be canceled as grandson told his teacher he wasn't feeling good. He was here from 10 to 3 and there were no signs of illness. I told him if he does it again  we will bring school work home with him. Of course really being sick is a different matter. Banilla is ready for the thingy so Brutus light the fuse and lets go..

S.J.

Grumpy old Granddad.  All he wanted to do was come play trains with you.

Good night all.  Wifey is feeling bad and I have a headache.  Had a busy day and it was suppose to be a short meeting at lunch.  Was cooler today.  Seems we can only get a day or two in the 50's [which is our normal high for Jan.].  Some "ugly word" flurries by day break and then sunny.  May have some more by end of week and next Tuesday.  Off to bed.

Here is my first try with my new Canon.  I am still experimenting with camera and conversion settings to optimize video quality, but this is still night and day from my Kodak M341.

Good morning all, not much going on this week but rain has stopped.

D Baker, sorry your plumbing is still on hold.

Chief, ditto on request for pictures of the new NS executive engines.  I love that paint scheme.  I always have, even when it was what the Southern Railway used.  Only saw a couple of these in real life during the Korean War.  Southern ran a troop train from the tidewater, Va. area to a training camp somewhere in the South so I saw it leaving town with an A-B F unit on the point and God knows how many cars.  There were a lot.

Quick trip with wife this morning to lab for blood test.  Omelets for breakfast.

Love my new HD TV.  Probably watching it too much until the novelty wears off.

Have a good one,

Ray

Good afternoon everyone.  Bit on the rainy side today.  Early in and early out this morning, so I actually have time to relax and catch up on some of the DVR'd shows.  Does seem that some folks have made some nice finds lately...congratulations!

Chief, I too am looking forward to some photos of the new NS engines.  Sound like beautiful pieces.

Hope to catch up later.

Good morning all,

It is sunny and mild today, around 50 for the high.  I started the workday off with a meeting which was supposed to last about 15 minutes, but ended up lasting an hour.  Oh well, I consumed more coffee and I am now readjusted.  I need to spend the rest of the workday closing out 2010 items and preparing 2011 plans.

CNW - The building were normally $5, but I snatched them up when they were 50% off.  Also, Sears had marked down its A Christmas Story items 66%, but I found out too late and was not able to get any.

Back to work for now,

Joe

Morning all!

Gonna hit 60 today and still sunny! Don - Bring on the cold...we're ready Hmm

Brutus - continued prayers for your family and friends in need.

Chief - are you gonna post some photos of those F units running by "da Chief vs da Beavers" accessory?

Doug M - it must be nice to work someplace where you can walk to a museum and variety of things to do on one's lunch hour.

Busy day today. Hope everyone has a great one!

RT,

That looks like a great deal.

My search for a digital camera/camcorder is finally over.  My main goal was to get something that takes better video than my Kodak M341, which is terrible.  I came home from Best Buy with a Flip Ultra HD last Friday.  The quality was also not good.

Back to Best Buy Saturday to exchange it for a JVC Everio camcorder.  Worse yet.  Back to Best Buy later that afternoon to exchange for a Kodak Playtouch.  By far the worst yet, and I should have known not to buy Kodak if I want quality.

So, I went back to Best Buy on Monday to exchange it for a Canon Powershot SX130is.  I couldn't be happier with this camera.  Video and still image quality is phenominal, and it cost just a bit more than the others.  Right now, I am trying to upload to YT.

Aloha all. Shouldn't sound surprised by 12 degrees feels pretty cold today - at least it's clear. Congrats on that haul, RTYes Like Joe, I found a few cheap buildings in the local Dollar store but for more like $5 each. Decent first class to begin the quarter - it sure makes a difference when there are lots of students vs. only a few - then it's more one-on-one. Enjoyed day two of visiting the Art Institute at lunchtime. Going today too. Big Smile  Off to my first in a day of meetings.

Mornin' boys.  A pretty "looking" morning here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Taking down the tree today.

laz - Ummm, the Coffee Pot engine exchange works kinda "clockwise"...hence, those NS F's should have came to fifedom before heading south of the Potomac. Crying

Now if you all will please excuse me...I've suddenly felt the need to go to our local Goodwill store.  What Confused, I have some old coats to donate...
