Good morning all,

I had a good trip to Stillwater yesterday.  The Hobby Lobby had some Lionel rolling stock on clearance for only $12; however, I did not buy any since they were all NYC and I prefer PRR or LV.  I did buy some used Thomas the Train items for only $20: Annie; a somewhat working CW-80; three figures; and a whole oval of Fastrack.  The person also threw in a BN caboose.  The track is in great condition and worth more than $20 by itself.  The seller's kid lost interest and she just wanted to get rid of it.

The weather will be mild again today.  It has yet to feel like winter around here.  I have a full plate of work to take care of today which should make the day fly by.

Brutus - I hope your wife's first day of PT goes well.

Regards,

Joe

I'll bet there's a municipal restriction against propane - and probably against geotherm or other alternative energy mods.  Worth a phone call to city hall though...

Pat,

There is a threaded insert in the bottom for a tripod, and Canon lists an AC Adapter in the user guide.

Jim,

I was going by the specs on the Best Buy web site you posted. These specs say no tripod mount and no AC adapter available. I am glad to here otherwise from someone that has the camera in front of them.

Thanks,

Pat

Roy........I feel your pain with the cold weather and the serious drop in your firewood supply.  My last fuel oil delivery early December was 240 gallons @ $3.20 per, and I'm already down half a tank.  The cost to heat a home up my way with oil is over double that of natural gas.....and there are no natural gas lines near me because the gas company won't ever run the lines, too expensive because of the rock and ledge they would have to excavate and blast to get them in.

Jack - YEOW! Bang Head That's rough! Can you convert to Propane? Lot's of folks in rural areas here use propane with a tank out back.

Will be a nice day here but it will be the last one for a week or so. The cold air is coming. Some talk of light snow Sunday.

Brutus - glad to hear Char got her meds finally.Angel

Hope everyone has a nice day today!

Aloha. TGIF! Hope my daughter and her boyfriend decide to go back to school early, as they're lazing around while everyone's back at work or in class makes the house seem smaller. Got 'audited' by HR to provide evidence that my kids are my kids and my wife is my wife - this looks like an opportunity to make some changes.  Wink  Hope to run trains this weekend, in between video gigs.

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 20s.  Quiet night at home last night.  I did get a new TCA Quarterly.  I have not had much chance to read it .  Been perusing Lionel Corporation Tinplate catalog online.  Lots of neat stuff.  A lot of it would be nice to have, but cannot really justify too much of it.  Work goes well.  I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast.  TBIL anytime.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mornin' boys.  Clearing and 28 here in the Mid-Atlantic region, where we give new meaning to the term "hotmail"... (and, yes,my district got a little caught up in that yesterday)  SNOHIO this AM caused scholls to open 2 hrs late (wimps).

dougnotta - Thanks for the link.  Cute video.  Kinda Buffett like.  Funny, they only filmed in the small sliver of the city that you are least likely to be caught up in the cross-fire (note: no shots along North Ave), and the hurry-up shots of the inner harbor probably mask the roving bands of young thugs that run unchecked.  And it's been quite some time since Camdem Yards has seen a crowd like that (probably a NY or RedSox game...)  Other than that, not bad.

Morning all.  Cloudy and chilly.  May have some snohio tonight resulting in nothing.  They are still "harping" on Monday night and into Tuesday.  Bet it turns into a cold rain and not an ice or snow storm.  Some says snohio, some a mix and one said might get some iceing.

Off to breakfast meeting in downtown Raleigh. Crying

Bob, he forwarded it to me.  Just been busy.  Did send a prayer for that situation.  Been so busy my new MTH NS F units are sitting on the layout and never been started up.  I think you can handle that situtaion OK.  God bless.

Off to the lake house around noon for a few days.

Hello all

Finally got finished catching up on the Pot. You guys sure can type.

Hope everyone had a good Christmas and New Years. Mine was interesting to say the least. Back at work now. I has been a quiet night w/ the system working well for a change. We are supposed to have some weather coming in this weekend. The rest of the staff will leave tomorrow and it will just be me for a few days. The good news is that we have finally made a decision for hiring a new operator. That means my schedule will resume to "normal" at some point.

About to finish up here a find a pillow.

Bob

P.S. Did you get my email? I had the address wrong and it went thru Frankie instead.

TARDIS is ready so let's hit the road Thumbs Up

Buckeye - Iam hoping to get to the train show maybe Sunday, we'll see.  Don't have any extra cash, so Iwould most likly just get frustrated.

Dennis - give your bride a big hug for me!  Gottal ove her.

Time for evening reading then off to bed as I need to go in early Fridqy.

Good night and may God bless

Good evening guys.  Yeah, I am blessed with a very understanding wife....Chief and Jim will tell ya.  We try to take care of each other and allow for each other's hobbies.  One of her latest things has been that ancestry.com.  She is part Cherokee Indian and has found that to be a tough line to follow as the records are not complete.

With regard to the winter...has been rather raw out these past few days.  Cold and wet.  From what I understand, it will continue for the next several days and should warm up to normal levels.

Have a early and big case tomorrow, so I will check out for the evening.  Hope everyone has a blessed night.

Hi Jim:

Since I and several others here on the pot are considering your new Canon, I checked it out. Looks like you can take great pictures, but it doesn't have a tri-pod mount or an AC adapter available, both of which I need.

Hi Ya'll from Overcast Taxachussetts,

I've got the overnight temps in the teens many of you have.  Snow forecast beginning tomorrow and into the weekend, could get 6+ inches.  More train time in the living room since the Christmas layout is still up and running.  Actually got out my son's Thunderball set (?) out of mothballs and was running that after some cleaning and lubrication.  Enjoy the chuffing sound from the tender at low speeds.

JimmyT.....I sure am glad you are doing the legwork for the rest of us as I am starting to do some reading for a combo still/video camera as well.  The video you posted looked really good.  How are the memory (time) and zoom (X factor) features on that Canon?  Plus, we older guys need a few extras, like a nice big LCD and perhaps a viewfinder to compliment the LCD, one than has variable correction for all of us over 40 who otherwise need reading glasses to shoot some shots or video.  I am sure Dennis' SLR has the latter.  And I don't like carrying two cameras with me when we go places.

JimSP........you won't tire quickly with the new LCD HDTV.  Just wait until you start playing with some of the picture brightness features.  Even the younger in my crowd comment on how clearly they can see the hockey puck during the NHL games when the set is on "brilliant."

SJ.......don't listen to the Chief.  Just because the grandchildren can pull the wool over the parents' and teachers' eyes doesn't mean they should expect the same from their savvy grandparents.  It's great when the young ones see their grandparents as the sharpest pencil in the box!!!!  My granddaughter tries the same stuff here but doesn't push things because she knows we are one step out in front and don't buy what she sells at face value.  And she loves us for it even though she doesn't always get her way.

Laz.......whatever you do, don't get my wife involved with anything to do with getting a puppy or any dog, or she will convince you that you need two.  Great news on the layout!!!!!!

JimSP......my wife started on the Christmas dismantling process last night, got miffed that I was not packing the boxes away.  The fact of the matter is that she has so much stuff (enough to decorate twice over) that it takes a team of engineers and a rocket scientist to figure out how to get it all back in the same large closet.

Brutus.....was glad to hear both Char and your Dad continue to make progress.  Jeff too.

Dennis.......there is no way I can picture my wife telling me I should either (A) buy more trains and/or (B) spend more time playing with them.

Chief.....so where are the pictures of your latest acquisition?

RT.....glad to hear your OT hasn't dried up yet like you thought it would.  Thanks for the pics of your trains stash.  But it occured to me, where will you move it all to when you launch the construction of your layout?

Demay.....re quality time to read a book.  What a "novel" idea!  My daughter and SIL finally got some sense and start putting the grandchildren to bed at a reasonable hour (earlier) so they can get some quality time clean up and to unwind.  When the little ones are over here to spend the night, Grammy and Grampy set a schedule and stick to it.

Buckeye......it's good to hear from you again.  Did you run out of bridges to repair in Ohio?  If so, move to Taxachussetts.  About 250 here are substandard with no money to bring them back up to snuff.

Chuck.....we are still waiting for pictures of your batchelorhood and wild parties when your wifey was away.

Prayers for those who need them.

Jack.

IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.
