HI GUYZ,

SNO HI O is falling since 230 this afternoon.  Looks like NO SCHOOL for me or maybe a 2 hr delay?

FIFE game #3 for all the marbles this year.  Good Luck!  Boy wouldn't a RAVENS vs BEARS super bowl sound good?

KEN, I'm with you on working on the layout with all this snow.  But gotta do that great job of shoveling first, don't forget to stretch first.

Stay frosty,

laz57

Stayin' frosty here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Might skate by on this current wintry event.  We'll see come morning.  It has already been a long cold winter.

Fife - I am trying to rework the directional code on the snohio deflector shield here to extend beyond Baltimore, at least to the NE Subs of the city. Sounds like it is working .Forecast is for 1" here. However, that does mean more white stuff for Jack, Ken and points North.Whistling

Next project is to direct snohio to OK for Joe. He sounds disappointed the stuff missed him!

Good Evening!

First day of work was ..... not much.  Brought most of my tools and because the impeding disaster,  snow storm, I was told to come back on Thursday.  Soooooo, I brought my tool boxes with the Daddy Wagon and chilled the rest of the day.  And will chill tomorrow as well.  Wish I had a layout up....Sigh.

Jack, as far as the new/old wheels, runs great, hit 332,000 miles and  piled most of the drawers from my tool boxes into the neon and no problem.  Gas milage is good, like 30MPG.

Just started light snow/rain mix....let the fun begin!

Fife......the games this weekend should be interesting to say the least.  SJ may have to skip a nap or two.  And the grounds crew at Gillette will be very busy clearing snow after our storm passes.  We've got a ton of sea turtles that beached on Cape Cod last month and were taken to refuge at the Aquarium in Boston as well.  Maybe you've got some of our overflow.

Ken.......our revised forecast just in from the New England Cable News network.  For my neck of the woods just North of Boston (at the entrance to Cape Ann), the forecast has just been changed from Winter storm warning to blizzard .  Forecasted snow levels have been revised:  was 10" to 14";  now 14" to 20".

Chief.......knock it off with the snow already!!!!!!!

Later, gang.  While I have enough gas, I think I will go out and get some more gas, milk, and beer!!!!!!!!  Smile, Wink & Grin

RockIsland - We got a mess of sea turtles from your region at the Baltimore Aquarium.  Seems it got too cold too quick in New England.  They'll release them down here in May.  As far as the Pats, don't worry...unless a healthy Ravens team emerges victorious on Saturday.  Jets barely beat a way-too-crippled Colts team, so let Rex blab.

Good mornin' ya'll from snow target central, Taxachussetts.  The Chief has gotten his way, and one of us Nawtheners (me) will be hunkering down for a forecasted 10" to 14" snowfall beginning sometime after midnight tonight and continuing throughout tomorrow until the front moves off the coast.

Brutus.....I hope Char is handling her PT well and that the medication snafus are just an aggravating memory.  And I hope your Dad's knee is coming along too.  Prayers continue. Angel

MikeC.....like the rest of us, I was glad to hear your wife's procedure went well.  We would all be well advised to get some of those things checked out early and as often as necessary.  The older guys amongst us find things popping up and growing that shouldn't be there.  I had a couple checked out, one removed, but the tests came back negative.  Will keep her in my prayers that this puts a lid on these things. Angel

Rich.....congratulations for hanging tough on the job search.  You were right....when it rains it pours.  First day of work Thumbs Up  Thank you for showing us patience and perseverance.  How are your new old wheels doing?

Happy B-day, Dennis !!!!!   Happy B-Day Cake  Make it a memorable one, run some trains, and remain secure in the thought that your little ones will someday be crashing your cars like the rest of us have experienced.

DougM.....hope the wounded car is running straight and true and that you didn't get nailed too badly on the insurance end of things.  If I had to do it all over again with my kids.....oh, never mind.  The wife would have just over-ruled my strategy and tactics.  My Dad was pretty clear about car priviledges.....grades, no speeders, and no carelessness/stupidity or else..... Contrary to what they may think, kids are not invincible.

Roy.....your family driving track record mirrors mine.  The parents are relatively snafu free.  One may remark that a parent can't teach experience behind the wheel beyond driving with them, a lot.  My kids had to have 50 hours behind the wheel with me AND Driver's Ed. AND DE's requisite 10 hours before any discussion about a drivers' license test.  Even those 60 hours total wasn't enough for my boy, though the daughter had and has an exemplary driving record.  Strangely, my boy's track record radically changed for the better as soon as he was off our insurance and had his own car. Smile, Wink & Grin

Bob.....I watched your train video with the fear the engine was goind too fast and would take a topple to the floor!!!!

Sounds like the CA boys' surrounds have improved from lake to merely swamp/bog. Big Smile

JimmyT.....I'd really like to find a combo picture/video camera where I had both a presbyopia-adjusting viewfinder AND an LCD.  When you get older (beginning around early to mid 40s) you get presbyopia, correctable only with reading glasses, and no one escapes it.....not correctable with contacts or surgery.

Laz.....was laughing my rear off with your marksmanship story.  Nailed that tree!!!!  Maybe you should hunt with automatic weapons.  Laugh  Seriously, I know that hitting a moving target is very tough under the best of circumstances.  What is the muzzle velocity of that weapon anyway?

Fife.......I have a moral dilemma.  Support you and the Ravens this weekend or my college roommate and Pittsburgh.  Folks herabouts fear the Ravens more than Pittsburgh.  And we are gearing up for the Patriots/Jets.  Rex Ryan is doing his Jets team no favors by running off at the mouth about the upcoming game.  DougM.....go Bears!!!!

Later, gang.

Jack

Good morning all,

It was 8 degree this morning when I went to the gym.  The wind chill had it down to -15; now it finally feels like winter here.  All we need is about 12 inches of snow and then I will be content.

Last night’s game had an exciting ending.  Both defenses played well.

I need to get back to work.  Someone has to contribute to the SSA.

Happy B-Day Dennis.

Morning ALL !

I have made an astute observation.  You wouldn't believe how many times I have posted in the evening, (prior to going to bed), and get my post completed most of the time, then forget to scroll down and hit the "Post" button.  Then find in the morning find my reply doesn't appear.  lol

Cake Happy Birthday Dennis!  - I too got an email from Facebook.   Speaking of facebook, yep I have no idea what's going on there.  I have an entry, which I had assistance setting up, but going to have to hire a 12 year old for some tutorial lessons on use.  I keep getting lost especially in the potential friends area.

We didn't have much of a summer here, but we sure are having the winter.  With all the rain (over 13" already) and now the cold temps.  We havn't seen a 70 deg day in weeks!  The temps have been in the low 50's, we worked a couple shows this past weekend, and I was wearing long johns, and gloves.  The chill factor has to be in the 30's when they say its in the 50's.

Been helping a friend of mine with a layout design.  He is a master craftsman, and not all that familiar with O scale operation.  But learning really fast !  His basic layout design incorporated a lot of elevations, and just needed a few changes to make it "Operationally Interesting", so that's where I come in.  We completed the design and it looks really great.  I'm sure the customer will be elated with the results.  I've really enjoyed the interaction with both people involved, its been a blast.

Also, visited the old club and things are improving somewhat from a political standpoint, so there may be some opportunity there.  Will wait and see how it all works out, might get involved on a limited basis and take advantage of the old friendships that were developed.  I enjoyed a lot of the people there and would like spending time with them.  So will see how that works out.

Had a little show and tell last week at my layout, man anything that could have gone wrong did!  Put a new Orient Express on the layout and the front coupler trains managed to short out the center rail, during the process of adding the engine.  Inturn, that caused an engine setting on a siding that I didn't realize had power to it to ultimately have to be deleted and readded.  Interesting that the Orient apparently got partially loaded, and as a result had to be returned to the Factory Reset, before it would respond in PS2.  But, finally got everthing sorted out (next day!) and everything is working great!  Oh well.

Today not a fun day, got a Consoltation with the Dentist, just knows he's going to say we have a LOONG road ahead of us.  On the other hand everything seems OK to me, so we will see about that.  (I hear a cash register clinging in the back ground.)  Then doing a presentation tonight to a Computer Users group in LA.  Sometimes it seems that there isn't enough time for retirement. Hmmm

Hope everyone has a Great Day, and best wishes for Health and Prosperity to all !

No snow here.  All melted.  Had sleet over night.  Just enough for Wifey to claim she needed to stay home from work.  Yankee cannon hit way South of me and then turned Nawth on its self. Laugh

Sorry to hear that, Roy. My son also had a fender bender last month, took three weeks to fix the mostly plastic-ized body. The fire hydrant was fine.  Wink  Has to go back Th. for a little more work though.

Glad he's OK.

Morning all!

24 this morning and sunny! Colder tomorrow according to the weather pundits. Just a little SNOHIZO left. Roads open today.

Looks like LAZ blew the margins this morning!

Happy B-Day Dennis! Happy B-Day

Son had a fender bender 2 weeks ago. we should get the car back today or tomorrow. Fender benders today = $3,000+. Cars crumple up now. Insurance covering most of it. I was able to bend a lot of the metal back with my bare hands to get it drivable to the shop. Could never do that on an older car.

Mike C - good to hear the surgery went well for your wife. Prayers. Angel

Anjdevil2 - good news about the job! With the snohizo prediction for Exit 8 maybe you will get some snohizo blower jobs?

Hope everyone has a great day today!

Regards, Roy

Aloha all. Came home to a busted spring on the garage doors last night. That took most of the evening to fix so missed the game and running trains. Long day today with class tonight. Snowing in downtown Chicago. Nothing too bad - pretty to look at from inside my overheated office. Funny how it swirls way up here outside the 15th flr.   Happy B-Day Dennis!!

Good morning all,

It is Snohioing in SE Indiana, but I made it into work.  Took it slow and easy and left early so it was all good.  May leave early today to beat the rush home.  Supposed to snow all day.  Happy birthday, Dennis!   I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East".  TBIL after "V".  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Quick drive by as I head off to ..... WORK!!!

Looks like 8" is coming our way at Exit 8.....should be fun.

OK off to get coffee and head on out.  I have to be there by 9 so I might be early...I got everyting EXCEPT the tool box in the neon....no room.

Submmbob- yeah went back to turning wrenches at a Hyundai dealer.  It was the easiest way to get an in and out job,  Service advisors come in early and stay waaay late for crap money.  Right now I'm getting my feet wet and stable hours.

Another day being frozen in.  We got 5 1/2" snow with a 1/2" of ice on top here at the house.  Tried to get out the drive yesterday only to find my 4-wheel drive wouldn't engage.  Backed down the drive and couldn't get up the slope to the garage area.  I'll give it a try again when the sun comes up.

Roads are a mess, nothing has been done, no plows, no sand.  The county doesn't have the equipment nor any  salt/sand on hand.   Wife was off yesterday and was called that the office is closed today.  Hospital closed all out patient services.  She couldn't get there even if they were open.

Don't know how much has been on the news about Atlanta but from what they're showing on Atlanta news almost everything is shut down, at times including the interstates.

Guess I'll see if I can get the door to the train room open, need to clear away the ice, and run trains later today.

Good evening all,

It's still very cold outside, but no snow action out here.  I know you all think I'm crazy, but I am jealous of all you who are hoarding all the snow.

Tonight my wife made chicken fajitas for dinner.  After cleaning the kitchen I played chess with my 7y/o son.  He just started learning and even though he is losing right now, he is still very interested in the game.  It's too bad I'm his teacher because I stinkConfused.  The BCS championship game is on right now and there is much more defense on display than I thought there would be.  I'm indifferent on who wins.

Sub Bob - Thanks for the compliments.  The WWII planes are 1:48, but that B-2 isn't.  If it was, it would look horribly out of place next to those traditional sized trains.  It is 1:72 and even though it's not true to scale we think it blends in nicely.  We usually keep it parked in the hanger so the Ruskies Mischiefdon't find out about it.  I think our Hobby Lobby has a YB-49, but not in a model kit my 7y/o son can build.  Right now we buy the ones he can assemble himself.

No trains tonight and now it's time for bed.

Good night,

Joe
