Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 20s.  Went to the YMCA again.  Tonight I get to scrimmage with HS kids in soccer!   Will be so good to kick the ball again.  Watched "V".   Gas line issues are fixed.  MTH has shipping schedule, but not catalog itself, posted on website for Lionel Corporation Tinplate 2011.  Work went well yesterday.  I had cereal and english muffins on the dining car for breakfast this morning before sending it on to "Points East".  TBIL after soccer tonight.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Lots goin on round dis parts !

Roy - Its not us sending the cold weather, were here fighting on both fronts..... Rain from Hawaii, and cold winds from Alaska.  Sure wish Kevin would show back up!  When he left here he obviously left the door open!

Brutus - It just doesn't end doe it?  God bless all you guys are going through, but I know it will be better this year!

Looks like some really good scores going on!  Chief with the plywood, (when I talked with him last he was talking about extending the layout, so he may need it.  However most likely he will use if for snowboards or water sleds at the lake.)

RT & Joe  - You guys scored big time!  I have some of those items and they fit in real nice. Works for me I'm jealous.

Going to have a train day tomorrow, a couple of guys are coming over to check out the layout, I'm sure we will have a good time.  May even go down and see the club's layout, that could be interesting.  One of the guys that is coming is "Train Doc" he has another thread going on, I will let him in on who the skallywags are around here.  Specially 'dem Rebs!   I think his layout out is going to have a Civil War scene in it, so I want to make sure I get my influence in.  Especially with the population of the battle scenes.  He is a real good guy, he should fit right in.

Oh, regarding my plumbing problem, I finally got the part in the mail today, but they sent the wrong part.  I needed a one piece valve/cylinder assembly, they sent a 2 piece unit.  So another one is on the way.  The issue is a week to 10 days for delivery.  And they are located in Lake Forest Ca. which is about 26 mile from me.  I asked if I could will call it, and they said no.  But they could send by air for an additional $15.  Problem is the airport is about 15 miles from me, and 10 miles from them.  So we will see what happens.

Need to get busy have some homework for tonight, later.

Good evening all,

I'm just taking a break from the Sugar Bowl to have a quick cup of coffee.  We had a pretty quiet evening: the wife made lasagna and the two older kids entertained the baby while I cleaned the kitchen.

RT - Great find!  I found some nice Christmas buildings at the local Dollar General just prior to Christmas.  I only paid $2.50 per building and the people were only $.50.  They may not be as nice as Dept 56, but they worked just fine on my Christmas layout.

S.J. - I'll pass on the banilla tonight.  My wife bought an ice cream maker last week and has been making homemade ice cream.  Tonight I finished off the butter pecan she made last night.  I doubt we will ever buy ice cream again.

Brutus - I hope your wife gets her needed medicine – prayers for her and your father.

Good night,

Joe

Great haul, RT!!! SWEET!

Sounds like a great deal on the plywood, Chief - also on the NS set Thumbs Up

A brick TARDIS?!  No Way - not at my house!  Mine is proper fake wood over Gallifrean steel, lol!

Dad got a PIC line today and will be in a rehab center for a while.  My friend Jeff is getting spine surgery tomorrow to take pressure off his nerves - I think it's the sciatic nerves - on both sides.  Char met with a nurse today and will get home PT for a few weeks.  The insurance required mail-order pharmacy is out of one of her drugs and won't have it for like 2 months, so the insurance is going to have to get it from somewhere else ASAP.

TARDIS is ready so let's hit it guys!

Good Evening

It reached 35 with a few snow furries

Granny seems tired lately so we just stayed in. I gave one train a few laps but that was all. I did beat Tiger Woods at PS2 golf. Banilla is ready and I think it's a good nite for loop-de loops..S.J.

Evening all.  TWC came early this AM to fix digital phone.

Then busy calling tax office on where I do NOT own property.  "We don't know why you got those tax bills."  "Computer shows you do not own land in this county anymore."

Fixed some broken outside Christmas figures.  Walked the entire lease boundry.  Fred swares that he herd a varmint call yesterday PM.  Went over near it and something big ran through the woods.  I could not find any human tracks since it had rained Sunday.  Hunters Haven said had he thought it might be a varmint? LaughLaugh

Fred did bring me some 4X4 sheets of 3/4 plywood free from WalMart where his Wife is a supervisor.  Left over from a re-model. They were going to "throw them out".  Think I got about 6 or 8 sheets.  He still has about 20 sheets.

Took Wifey out to Applebees for steaks.  Very good.

LAZ, someone dropped off a box full of beautiful NS F units at my front door.  They are on the track but have not started them up.  Lubed and smoke fluid charged and ready to go.  If it can't be gotten, LAZ and Barry's will come through. Bow

Great Holiday with Grandson, Daughter and SIL.  Ran trains everyday on the floor or on the layout.

Discovered that my Daugher now lives only a few blocks from Trainworld in Brooklyn, NY.  Yes

Did my 10th PT yesterday and finally able to walk without pain.

Wireing more switches to the SC-2 controller.  It is so much fun to watch visitor's faces when I run the trains and do the switching with the CAB-1.    Can't say enough good things about E.R.R. TMCC system except it makes my Williams Locos just creep down the tracks.

Have a good week.

Pat L - Yep! Confused

Well it is up to 55 today and sunny! 50's predicted for rest of the week. But the word is there is a big chill coming next week from the West coast - thanks Don B!

Got a Lionel Holiday Store Box Car and the Lionel Tank Car Spill Accident accessory for Christmas. I was a bit surprised as I thought the tank car accident accessory had movement, but it only has blinking welding lights. The Holiday Store box car graphics are nice.

Hope everyone has a great day today!

Hello all and Happy New Year!

Had a very busy fall, Christmas, and New Year. No time to post. Tried to keep up a bit. Hope all are well!

Been cold here and have almost burned half the firewood for this year. Burned it all last year and that was a first. Looks like this year we will run out long before end of the cold weather.

Have a great day all!

So much for global warming!!Whistling

Good morning all,

It was a hectic Christmas and New Year's season for me which prevented me from posting as much as I normally would.  I hope I did not miss too much.  Things have calmed down and life has returned to normal; it's good to be back on the forum.

I received a Lionel UP GP38 with Trainsounds for Christmas.  I will post photos of it this weekend, and maybe even a video.  This is my first locomotive with Trainsounds and I think it is very cool.  I should also have updated layout photos to post as well.

That's it for now,

Joe

Aloha. Sunny and cold in Chicago. Went browsing in the Art Institute yesterday at lunch. Hope to again every day through Feb. It's free! My winter class starts tonight. Glad to have it to teach. That means a long day though. No joy yet on a 'colonies' version of BBC's iPlayer, John, though I hear one may be developed. . .

Mornin' boys.  Mornin' English.  Mornin' Newcomers.  Mornin' returning regulars.  Last "mild" day before it gits frigid again in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Tis the hardest stretch of the year for me.  I could probably work out in the field forever, if I could just spend Jan-Mar in the tropics. Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is 23 degrees. Going up to 34 today with a chance of snow.

Today is a busy day. Lots to do. Wife may not  come home until tomorrow. Weather does not look good for that. After chores, I have paperwork to do. Have to renew my membership to the Fitness Center, where I have PT.

Dining car arrived from "Points West". The usual Cheerios is for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Tuesday.

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 20s.  Work was busy but unfortunately interesting yesterday.  Some one who I respected and admired very much was terminated yesterday for reasons I find hard to believe.  While I realize there are two or more sides to every story and I have only heard one indirectly, it was very upsetting to a lot of people who are still here.  Obviously I cannot go into details, but...........   On the bright side, several minor issues on the home front were resolved.  I also went to the YMCA for the first time in a while.  I got on the scale after not going for most of November and December, and I weighed......about the same as I had when I was exercising.   Hmmmmm......go figure.  I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East".  TBIL and I can drive after "V" tonight.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good dark early morning to Y'all!  Been quite busy lately.  This is the first full day I have had off since the middle of December.  I will go in later, but I have only one case to be there for.  Still have a few reports to finish for the year, but at a much less hectic pace.

Sorry I missed your birthday LAZ, hope it was a good one for you.  I see we have a few new faces here...welcome, tis a nice place to come and sit a spell.

Chief, any word from those cameras?  hope you are able to catch the perp without incident.

Well, I didn't get anything with flanged wheels for Christmas, but did have a good time with family.  Did have to work a bit, but nothing too bad.  Worse part was having the flu while being on call and still having to go in for emergencies.

Better run, but I will check back soon.
God Bless,
Dennis

Congrats on the retirement Arkady!  Wecome Dood!

Cold in Saint Louis, but actually not too bad out later in the day.  Colder weather is coming though.  Didn't talk to Dad today, but heard he is doing okay.  They are adjusting medicine.  Wife is doing pretty well and a lady is coming tomorrow to see her about physical therapy.  She'll get a few weeks of visits here at home and then will have to go to them, so we'll see how that works out.

TARDIS - I knew that from years ago.  I think Tom Baker explained it to Leela or something?  Those were some great shows, wish they would show them on BBC now.  A slightly different DR WHO than the current generation has known I guess.  SPFX were certainly different - lots of cardboard props etc!

Well, my TARDIS is ready and the beacons are on the screen 4 x 4, so we'll be there shortly to get everyone - LAZ can drive!

Bought more gas for the snow blower today, in anticipation of the three days of snow, cold and wind that's predicted, starting Wednesday.

But I'm counting my blessings. This is an extra-happy New Year for me, since I retired in April and this is the first apres-New-Year since I was six years old that I didn't't have to go back to work/school after the holiday.  It was a l-o-o-o-n-g time coming.

I got some email from one of my still-working former colleagues, saying "today was the Mondayest of all the Mondays in the year," and I know just what he means.

As a kid, I always found it sad to take down the train platform after the holiday season, packing the trains away in their familiar boxes (the cardboard a little more tattered each year) and sending them back to hide in the attic till next December.  I am grateful that as a grown-up collector, I can now leave the trains up indefinitely.  Funny the things you carry forward from your youth.

I wish a very happy and prosperous and healthy New Year to one and all.  I have learned some very useful things from this board, and hopefully shared some things that will help someone else.  May we all still be saying this at the same time next year!
