Good morning all and Happy New Year. I'm about as slow as D Baker getting on here after the 1st. Spent all day yesterday after church getting new HD TV hooked up and watching it all day. The picture is much larger than our old set and much more sharp. Wow! I can't believe what I have been missing. Watched two movies and a one and one half hour train video plus a lot of other programs yesterday. I am getting a headache from looking at TV too much. Tried cutting down the brightness on the screen but it doesn't seem to help. Maybe this will just take some getting used to. Anyone else had this experience?
Still raining a little this morning after heavier rain over night. Snow level in mountains is supposed to be down to 1500 ft. in some places today. We are suppose to have sunshine for the rest of the week. I'm ready for that.
Have to figure out what to do with my old TV which is like a piece of furniture with the TV built in. Suppose I could just sit it on the curb with a free and it works sign and somebody will take it.
Have a good week y'all,
Ray

Found the TARDIS definition on the BBC website. Whilst wikipedia.com has a nice summary of the series, there's much more on the BBC site.
Doug Murphy 'We few, we happy few, we band of brothers...' Henry V.
I've got to be the last person coming on after the New Year! Sorry 'bout that!
Doug - Like the TARDIS definition, where did you find it?
Our New Years was quite enjoyable, wife and I went to dinner and 2 movies on New Year's Eve, was really enjoyable. And it was all on gift certificates we had received over the past year. Spent New Years Day watching the parade and working on a layout design. (Not mine). Yesterday, we worked for a partial day until we got rained out. Then met with a friend to discuss the layout plans, and ended up starting all over again. Finished the "Last" version last nite, hopefully it will be the "ONE".
Just saw on the news the price for Disneyland went up today, the price for LOCALS is $99 per person. Don't think we will be there anytime soon.
Its raining again/still and Interstate 5 is closed about 30 miles north of LA due to snow and blizzard like conditions. Should ask Bob, How is it we have had more rain than we have had since 1896, but were still in a 10 year drought. Seems the analysis of the record keeping should be revised. Were floating here and concerned about a drought?
Seems Laz got a little older recently, with all that jogging just don't wear out the knees.
Still waiting for the valve to fix the plumbing problem, HOPEFULLY it will arrive today!
Having some folk over for a train demo on Wednesday, so need to get the room cleaned and dusted.
Most importantly -- Hope all you guys and your families are doing well, looking forward to a prosperous and healthy New Year!

JACK,
Wife is going to SPCA today she wants to adopt a Lab mixed puppy she saw on line. We'll see?

DOUG M, Yep was like pulling teeth between DA BEARS and Packers. Seemed like nobody wanted to win.
CHUCK, like JACK said BATCHLOR TIME lets have a party, call up BUCKEYE and all the OTTS GUYZ.
Good Mornin' Ya'll From Sunny Taxachussetts,
Sorry for my absence, but I could not get the holiday treadmill to slow down. Had a housefull here Christmas Eve, and it was 2AM by the time we got the place cleaned up.....then had to be at the Daughter and SIL's by 7AM for the kiddies opening up their gifts from Santa and the Christmas Day festivities.
The blizzard arrived the next day and it snowed for 24 hours.....lots of digging out. During the week it was necessary to keep shovelling drifting snow, widen the driveway, and clear the street.....the three to four feet to the curb the plows missed (the heavy compressed stuff ) so our New Years guests would have some place to park. Since we were having some elderly folks, I had to start chopping ice and packed down snow in several places so they wouldn't take a header. Weather warmed up into the 50s to help the process along, and it was a balmy 50 degrees to start off the New Years festivities.
New Years Eve was yet another big one, beginning at 7PM.....25 folks from kiddies to adults. Four people were confirmed attendees but were no shows with no call or anything. Whatever happened to the telephone? Lots of trains running for the kids, and they of course sucked in most of the adults in the process. When you tell the adults the engines and consists are between 5 and 6 decades old and are still running like new, they are amazed. Smoke, air whistles, horns, and the sweet smell of that unmistakeable ozone. Daughter and wife must have served a dozen platters of hot hors deuvres to supplement the chips, dips, cookies, pastries, veggie platters, shrimp, and pitcher after pitcher of some adult high test concoctions, complete with sliced fresh fruits. Champage and Asti at midnight. The last of the guests left at 2AM and I didn't hit the sack at 4AM after a massive cleanup effort. Next to beer, the dishwasher is probably the greatest invention of man. Daughter, SIL, and the grandkids spent the night here before having breakfast and then making their way home around noonish to prepare the New Years Day mid afternoon dinner.
Wife and I took a brief nap, then drove to the daughter's for the New Years Day mid afternoon feast. Then we all made our way to a relatives' place for yet another massive evening buffet dinner and another houseful, fortunately not mine. I could not even believe the spread they put on with two kitchens being worked. The wifey and I were running on fumes and barely hung on, home by 10:30PM with the wifey fast asleep in the car all the way home. And I missed all of the college bowl games. After letting the dog out at 7AM yesterday, I slept till noon on the couch with the dog (wife upstairs in bed snoozing away), then watched the NFL playoffs while continuing the holiday cleanup around the house.
Laz.....you old geezer you!!!! Happy belated birthday to you, and I hope you had a good one. What? No puppy for your birthday? Steelers look ready. Was this the same Browns team that handed the Patriots their lunch earlier in the season?
Banks....prayers for your Mom. It was good to hear that her problem was not more serious. She needs to drink more?!?
Chuck is a batchelor this week? Party!!!!!!! We can celebrate Traindaddy's birthday!!!
Happy birthday Traindaddy!!!!
Fife/Mitch....Ravens are the team most New Englanders fear in the AFC. The Pats are a little banged up, so the first round bye is "sorely" needed.
SJ.......Fife is right. The Lions missed the playoffs by a matter of points which, if scored, would have them in the playoffs right now.
DougM.....the Bears worry me as the offense looked anemic and the offensive line porous. Cutler was lucky to escape intact. We've been embarassing our kids from their teens and the subsequent two decades to the present. We have a lot of material to work with. For example, you will get a lot of mileage out of the fire plug story.
DougDG.......more rain for the California boys? When will you catch a break?
Welcome traindood!!!!
RT......you need to start your layout. Where are you going to put all of this stuff?
Rich.....was glad to hear your time with the Princess was great. Hope your new/old wheels are doing fine.
Later, gang. Jack
Later, gang.

Aloha all from a sunny and cold Chicago where I am back at work (thankfully). Survived the visit of 8 (count 'em, 8) teen boys - watched football all day and let them eat everything in the house. Laz, that was one ugly game. That Dr. Who episode is a new classic. Who knows what TARDIS stands for? . . . Anyone? Anyone? Well, Time And Relative Dimensions in Space, of course -- Welcome traindood!
Johnny, Bill, Sammy and George: How did you know today is my birthday? Ok, secret is out, but I'll "bet" you don't know which one!!!!! Thanks for the best wishes.
sir james - LIONS really came on strong with 4-in-a-row. Just think, 1 more victory and they could have won the NFC West... A couple O-line drafts and they could have a good sesaon. At least they didn't lay down like the browns
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a cold 20 degrees. Going up to 34 today with some sunshine.
Today is a busy day. I have a bunch of chores to do. Will be busy most of the morning. Then, some paperwork. Maybe a nap later. No train time today.
Dining car is here with the usual breakfast.
Y'all have a great Monday.
Chuck
Mornin' boys. It's a Millersburg kinda day in the Mid-Atlantic region. Lots of football during the day, then I was "forced" to watch some wedding show on WE with queen and all 3 princesses. Didn't get down to the boatyard as it was still kinda damp. Worked on layout a little to try and smooth out some transition points. Still want to add another set of feeders, and put in a manuel switch at a sore-spot.
Hi GUYZ,
Cool one here at 23 to get to 36. Worked on adding power drops to layout, soldered 7 on the fasttrack yesterday afternoon. Hope to get a few more tonite?
Stay frosty,
Good morning all,
IIABSDISEI with temps in the 30s. Back to work. Will be busy. I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East". TBIL anytime. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,

Good night all. Reclinereized after popcorn [for dinner]. Sleep tight. BTW: temp dropped 16 degrees in 15 minutes this afternoon.
Good Evening
Cold 25 today. no sun but ah no snow either

Evenin' All.
Got most of the Chritmas trains broken down and put away so I decided to try to set-up the DCS Remote Control again. The first time I tried setting it up last thursday on the Thomas layout with less than spectacular results. Of the three engines I tried one did not work at all and the other two only gave partial responses. Today I tried it on the ceiling track and it worked perfectly. Don't know what the difference is but I like it. Maybe later in the week I'll see if I can get it to work on the Thomas layout.

Happy Birthday Laz! We'll see if I can post today. I tried 4 times last night and it wouldn't go through - just dumped out to a login screen.
Prayers for healing and for our loved ones and friends. New Trains magazine is interesting - about Circus trains. New CTT is a keeper, lots of good articles in this one :)
Laz - we have that episode on the DVR still, but it looks good. Yeah, the Tardis rocks man That show first came on the air the year I was born actually, in 1963. It started off as a show for little kids and gradually evolved into more grown-up fair. Then it went on hiatus for many years until the revived it again about 5 years ago I think?
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Evening all. Rained there and back. Wifey did get in Mom's house while we were there. She picked out a few more things to bring back to Rolesville.
Welcome traindood.
TV time and popcorn.
Good evening all,
IIABSDISEI with temps in the 20s. Went to church, and built with LEGOs. Ran the 384E and the Polar Express Friday night for our friends (forgot to mention that before). I had pancakes and bacon on the dining car this morning for breakfast. TBIL after "Desperate Housewives". I hope everyone has a good day.
Good Afternoon to All,
Lazy day today, went to church and then came home to watch the Ravens manage to win despite their best efforts to give the game away. Did manage to fix several strands of outdoor lights that had bad bulbs etc. Now everything is operational for next Christmas. Although I do want to look for more replacement miniature lights. I only have about three good bulbs left. May look at Wal-Mart if they haven't cleaned all the holiday decorations up.
Making a pork roast for dinner. The Mrs. is talking with a girlfriend who is having some surgery tomorrow. I was watching the Colts game but somehow the channel got switched to the Disney channel.
Happy belated Birthday to LAZ. Never did make it to Barry's over the holiday. May be one of these Saturday's I'll make a road trip over there.
Take Care,
Mitch

Mornin'/Afternoon All.
Happy New Year !
Day and a dollar short but Laz ! Hope you eat some .
Glad all the holiday festivities are over. Between all the days at the museum and trying to stay ahead of the weather related issues I am POOPED. The munchkin stayed with us friday nite so didn't have the time nor the energy to go thru all of friday's consists so saturday turned into all Thomas & Friends with Sponge Bob & the Bikini Bottom Express. Lots of smiles from the guests and no negative comments. Friday and saturday very busy, much to my surprise but we were still able to do our "New Year's Luncheon" with our wives yesterday, good food with good friends in a pleasant surrounding. But I do believe some of the guests wanted to dive in as well, wonder if the snack bar upstairs should give us a commission on an increase in their sales.
Well, gotta get back to work on packing up and breaking down the Christmas trains.
Prayers for those in need, later all.
Oh great, more rain tonite thru tuesday in the forecast. Hope they are wrong or at least it is very lite

Think good thoughts, do good deeds!
Fife - You will have slim pickens at your Greenburg Show. Went to the one in Northern Virginia yesterday and darn near cleaned them out.
Chief - Did you find any hidden drawers or compartments in that roll top desk, maybe with money from "The War"? Those old roll top desks were known for their hidden areas.

Morning all. Rained and still may. Very warm. Off down east to funeral [friend's Mom]. Like my roll top desk arrangement. Now evrything has a cubby hole or drawer. Tower sitting on filing cabinet next to desk, printer on the very top with flat screen, keyboard and mouse ondesk top. I like the pull out flat "drawer" thing to write on. Always had to write on something while holding it in my lap.
LAZ, waiting for them to arrive. Probably tomorrow.
Later
20/26 with clouds today
Enjoy today for tomorrow is back to work day...S.J.
Again TANKs for all DA Bday CONGAS. Had a great day yesterday save for DA PENGUINS loosing the Winter Classic. Was a good game but I thought the lighting was tough to see da puck.
BRUTUS, I watched DR WHO last nite after the game it was The Christmas Carol. First time I actually saw the inside of the TARDIS. Pretty good story too.
CHIEF, yesterday I put the NS F3s on the track for the first time, WOW your gonna LOVE em. They are so coooool and sound great. I have to put more power drops on layout signal kept on fading was the only glitch.
Going to put power drops in this afternoon.
