Happy Father's Day!

Already 77 & sticky in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Gonna get to the pool by noonish.  Last night, went to Havre De Grace for dinner at a restaurant that overlooks the AMTRAK (former PRR) bridge over the Susquehanna.  Nice meal of stuffed flounder and Yueng's.  Saw several Metroliners glide across, then a NS coal drag.  Then headed over to Perryville and caught several more trains before the bugs started bothering Fifepup.

For Father's Day my lovely wife and wonderful kids gave me a digital video camcorder (VISTAQUEST).  Now I have to start a page like BUCKEYE or KOOLJOCK to display my layout.

Y'all have a good one.

Good morning.  HAPPY FATHER'S DAY again.  Glad to see John is here.  Off to a breakfast at Church [ladies are giving for us fathers.  Then meeting Frankie and Cathy for a meal later at the Crazy Fire.  Mongolian stir fry.  Real good.  Use to eat there once a week when working.  On the other side of Raleigh so do not go now.  Hot and humid.  Got up early and picked garden.  Getting a fair supply of tomatoes [enough to give some away].  Stay cool.  God bless you all.

Morning all.  Getting ready for church.  I am on camera, so have to get there a little earlier than normal time for most.  Since today is also a filming day, it looks like it will be a long one.  Mike, no spoilers, there is still plenty of good story line and great shots to keep everyone interested.

HAPPY FATHER"S DAY to each who is one.  Got a message from a friend who's dad passed away.  He was saying how much he missed his Dad.  For those who don't have their dads around, have your moment to cherish the memory of them.  I know with Mom, I am comforted by such.

God Bless,
Dennis

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 90.  Happy Father's Day to all who are.  Race in Iowa will probably be rained out.  Off to Mass.  I had bacon and biscuits on the dining car for breakfast.  TBIL anytime.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Morning guys - Happy Father's Day!

Going up to 97 here today.  Just hope it doesn't rain.  Got an invite to my brother's house for dinner tonight, so need to figure out a side-dish to take.  Maybe I'll just stop and get some beer - that will be a hit with the fathers, lol!  Maybe Fitz's soda for the kids?

Watching American Pickers with RT - fun!  One guy had a RR Depot and a Caboose, plus a barn full of carriages like horse drawn ambulance, etc.  Very neat!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Happy Father's Day to all. Went to sprint car races at Lincoln Speedway with my Dad.  Had a great time. Left after the 410 sprint car feature. Did not stay for the 358 sprint cars or thunder car division. Had an egg, bacon , and a biscuit with some cantaloupe for breakfast.

Family should be arriving soon so I need to start preparations.

Take care,

Mitch

Happy Fathers Day to all who have gone before us and to all who are fathers today.  My father has been gone 12 years, and by the grace of God he did the best he could.  I will never be able to give more to my children than he gave to me.  Not in terms of things, but in guidance and unqualified love.  I miss him.

Brent......a special Happy Fathers Day to you in anticipation of the most wonderful event possible.  keep hammering away on the paperwork.  You and Susan must be so excited.  At this time next year.....

RT......I must have been at the Tardis bar when you were passing out the pastries.

Dennis.....don't give RT any ideas with this Congi stuff, sinful pastries work for me.

SJ......sadly, there are no Whire castles up here in the Northeast I am aware of, nor can I currently find them frozen in the supermarkets.  We called the burgers "sliders."  DougM has access to them out his way.  Wash them down with some banilla and root beer and they won't be talking back at you later in the day.

DougM.....sorry to hear your pastor's house got struck by lightening and a fire commenced.  Hope you weren't over doing some wiring for him.  You are very fortunate to have all of those fresh water lakes nearby.

Mitch......I ducked hosting Father's Day dinner, but I get nailed next weekend with a large cast of family and friends descending on my place for our granddaughters' combined birthday parties.  The Dad's are being taken out for dinner at 2pm.

Roy......did you watch the races at Road America up in Elkhart Lake Wisconsin yesterday?  The road course is 4 miles per lap!!!

Ray..... prayers for your friend who lost his wife in a car crash.  We seem to take for granted how dangerous driving a car can be until we lose someone close to us.  My wife and I did, June 6 of last year.  The driver of the other car has been indicted for vehicular manslaughter and awaits trial, small consolation to the family and friends of such a wonderful woman, wife, mother, grandmother, and dear friend.  Sheer negligence.

DougDG.......are you starting up another "How Old Are You" survey, based not on chronology but how old we act?  Put me down for 6.

8n.......I have a car with a small block Chevy engine sitting in my garage that needs an engine overhaul.  Too much for my skills let alone tools, need to farm it out.

Papa.....thanks for the Fathers' Day wishes.  We all love to get them.

Brutus......muddy unger your deck?  I laid down about an inch of p stone.  Keeps it under control and little or no weeds to contend with.

OleTimer....you sound like the ultimate hunter.  Sure could use a postwar Berk if I could sneak one past the wife.

Chief.....the Raleigh mayor wants all of the water, fights infrastructure improvements which would benefit Rolesville, and now has problems with YOUR high school?  He needs to get slapped upside the head.  Better yet, send me over there and I will talk him to death.

Don......yes, that is what dog training is all about.  It is to train the handler.  If my dog wasn't smarter than I am.....

Navyjack.....Chief is trying to get me to change my name to Jack Bob.

Hudson.....your post reminded me of Stone Harbor and Wildwood on the Jersey Shore 35 years ago.

Later, gang.

Jack

Happy Father's Day all!

Brutus - yes - watching American Pickers is always interesting. I am doing the same this am.

Jack - Yep - watched all the races yesterday. The Elkhart Lake one was almost boring under the later third of the race. Hate the cautions there since they have to circle 4 miles to get back to the Start Line. But the end between Jacques V and Carl E was really cool. Wish Jacques car had not quit one the last lap.

Great weekend here. I have complete control of the remote control. It is killing the rest of the family. Discovery Channel, History Channel, NASCAR, IRL, NHRA, and some great westerns (recorded the Hallelujah Trail for later tonight when races are over)... and a DVR to keep the shows going - BWA HA HA HA! BWA HA HA HA!

Have a great day all!

Regards, Roy

 Happy Fathers Day!!!!

Up to 96 today, looks cloudy.

I was up late, just got out of the shower.  The Princess is still abed, I'll get her up at 1.  She's been going out and that's great, she's been "shut in" since November, but things are turning around for her.

The wife and son are out and about don't know where, but conveniently  have both sets of car keys.  At least the bike is available...Smile,Wink, & Grin.

John, I'll have a busy week, there will be a lot going on, but I'll be back and we can meet up.  Tell Rob to bend at the knees next time.  I'm still waiting on the qualification test that PSEG sent to me in Early May....

I cleaned a lot out of my closet last night, found a lot of my firehouses and boxes...and 2 ceremonial Swords...more cleaning to come..

Have a great day all of you Dads and Dads to be.  I love my kids and wish I could've had more...its a great feeling.

Good Afternoon, 93 and cloudy at the Jersey Shore:

Did another truck load of firewood and called it a day. My daughter and son in law are getting things ready for the bbq. My wife is working at her Ice Cream Shop. I am relaxing.

Jack, you are right about the Jersey Shore. Time forgot it for a while, but when building and prices started to climb, so did the need for modern services. When I first moved down all that came down my street was the mail truck, garbage truck, UPS truck and the police car on patrol and stopping to chat. You could hear the ocean waves on the shore of Island Beach State Park during a storm or rough surf. It is still quiet, but you can still hear the surf but not over the roar of some power boats on the Bay. That's progress.

Rich, I will pass it on to Rob, but the cones sit high on these new trucks, a lot are tandem all wheel drive. The reason why you probably did not hear anything yet is because there is a hiring freeze, along with raises, union and non union. They are playing with the budgets and making all of the cuts they can to save money, right down to eliminating paper coffee cups.

Thoughts and prayers to all in needAngel

Everyone, Enjoy Father's Day.

Good afternoon all,

Spent an enjoyable two hours with my dad watching the IRL race.  For once, Team Red did not win on an oval.  TK was first for Team Green.  Sarah crashed, but Vitor was 7th and moved up one position on the points.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Happy Fathers Day

.Sorry for not starting the SPF this morning.  Was up early and Gabriel, gotup with me and wanted to talk and spend time with me.

I gave all three homilies at services this weekend.  I felt very good with the message and I got more compliments than I've ever had.  It was a challenging message to fathers to fulfill their God given duty to set the example as the spiritual leader of the family

Youngest came in from Cincy. Changed her oil and rotated her tires.

Supper is on the grill and smelling awesome.

Check back later

May God bless

Jim

Spent a lot of time at Jimmy Byrne's Sea Girt Inn, had a blast there....World's Longest Bar and best place to grab some buns...Smile,Wink, & Grin

Asbury Park was the cruisin' spot on Ocean & Kingsley

Had fun at Seaside Heights(night) & Island Beach State Park(days).

Partied with my Brother Firefighters at Wildwood and went to Atlantic City before it was a gambling town.

Manasquan was ok as was Point Pleasant.  They were more family oriented.

The Jersey Shore is definitely like no other.... I miss it every summer...

90's and muggy.  Didn't get much done.

Mitch - who won the 410 sprint car races?  Kahne, Kinser(Sr and Jr), Lasoski, and others were here in Sedalia last Wednesday.  Got rained out.  They will be back on the 29th.  If these are the same guys that raced in your neighborhood, they really travel around.

RI - Check out a 'crate' engine.  These are aftermarket engines already assembled.  You can find about anything from mild to wild.  Cost about the same as a rebuild.  That turns the job into a much easier remove and replace.

Going to ebay to hunt 200 series Alcos.

All for now.

Today's Fathers' Day was bittersweet for me too, Spanky

I wish my father and mother could have made it out here just one more time to see the old trains run again.  Their health interceded, so all trips had to be back "home.".  Dad would have had a smile as wide as the sky if he saw our trains still soldiering on just as they had so many decades ago.  And my mother would simply be relieved they were set up somewhere else.

Back in the 1950s when I was very young and family money was very tight my father worked seven days a week and still found time to build a layout, scenice it, and buy me my trains a little at a time, piece by piece.  From the benchwork, track laying, and the wiring to the construction of the mountain, tunnels, and scenery.

My mother would forever be booting us (and our train tinkering) off her kitchen table so she could serve dinner.  Once when we tried to migrate to the dining room table for our tinkering she drew the line in the sand!

It wasn't the amount of time we spent together as family but the quality of that time that I try to emulate with my kids and grandkids.  My folks have been a hard act to follow.  Miss them both.

I wonder how I ever stumbled into my wife who has such a strong sense of family and traditions.  I have been truly blessed.

For those of you who are younger than I, live each day to the fullest.  Enjoy your folks while you have them.  And I hope each of you have had as wonderful a Fathers' Day as I just had.

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 90s (may have to add that last part to the acronym).  Did get a little busy last evening.  Washed the wife's van, cleaned out the mower and fixed the shield on the trimmer (safety ...first?).   Tried tinkering with an uncoupling track and a possibly dead CW-80.  Not quite sure what is wrong with either one.  Long day at work ahead.  I had bacon and biscuits on the dining car before sending it on to "Points East" .  TBIL and I can drive.  Zucchini bread for everybody, courtesy of the Chief.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

 Morning, Guys...

Looks like temps in the mid 90's again today and high humidity...

It was a quiet Fathers Day, The Princess made me a cookie cake and decorated it and my my son gave me a nice card.  Had roast beef, mash potatoes corn and Italian bread for dinner.

It's National Ride to Work Day, so I'll be on the ol' HD today..looks cloudy , but, hey....

Jack: My parents are both kickin' and your words ring loud and true.  Dad was a real terror when we were growing up, but, he has mellowed into a real great guy and I miss being with him and Mom.

OldTimer..yeah, that place was so crowded, and the buns were....nice! Smile,Wink, & Grin

OK, off to the showers then to work....have a great day guys!

Good Mornin' Ya'll From Clear and Hot Taxachussets,

Happy first day of Summer, ya'll.

Hot and very humid one yesterday, high 80s.  More of the same today, low 70s already.  Storms passed just to the South last night taking down trees and power lines.

A/C working fine, no issues.  Pool is full and heating up with the hope the water temps in it approach high 70s by the granddaughters' joint b-day party Saturday.  The kiddies usually spend most of the day in the pool, weather permitting.  Guest list around 50, or so I am told.  Lots of grilling, good food, family, and friends.  A Disney Princess is scheduled to make an appearance.  Lots of mowing and trimming is on the agenda over the next few days.

Oldest granddaughter passed first grade!

Rich......have a nice ride on National Ride To Work Day.

DougM and Navyjack.....heard there was a fire in the Chicago subway yesterday, track ties caught due to a spark.  20 hospitalized.

Red Sox have overhauled the Rays and the Yankees in the AL East, just one game out of first now.  This despite a rash of injuries, including two starting pitchers and 5 starters total.

More later.  I hope everyone had a great Father's Day.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a clear and sunny 70 degrees. Going up to 86 today with sunshine. There is a possible chance of rain later, I hope not.

Today is a busy day. I have some chores to do and errands to run this morning. Then, I have PT this afternoon. This week I will only have one PT session and two Fitness Center sessions. The FC is " on my own ". I know what to do and it is paid for, for the year. I will slowly take over the therapy. Lots of walking.

Dining car is here and it's Cheerios for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Monday.

Aloha all from a grey Chicago. Had a nice time at the IRM yesterday with the bride and the youngest. Then went to the inlaws for a cook-out.

Rode a Chicago trolley and a Lackawanna car pulled by their Burlington GP.  Fire in the subway yesterday was in the ties. Usually happens on the Elevated.  Jack and SJ, White Castle is just down the street. They deliver. Wink Roy, I also commandeered the remote for a spell: watched Pixar short films, US Open, World Cup and baseball.  Jim, I'm sure you did a great job on the sermons. Mike C, what do you think of the Cup games so far?  Prayers for those like Jack and DJ who were missing dads yesterday.
