Just a quick spash and go,
The heat will be settling in here too this weekend, may hit 90 today. Already 75 and climbing. First the Bruins, now the Celtics. Doom and gloom. At least the Red Sox are closing fast.

Good Morning
Sun going to 89 or so, air feels heavy, hard to breath. I'm stayin inside but don't like losing a summer day. The storms reached here just at chat time so everything electronic gets unplugged. We were spared the worst and power stayed on. Granny fixed me a nice omlette for breakfast that will hold me for awhile. Grilled chicken is on the menu for supper.
Have a great day....S.J.

Good morning everyone. Quick check in before getting into the honey do list. Been exceptionally busy and so the house work has been put off till today. Funny story, I got home late again last night from the movie set. I had helped "make-up" dept. with the looks for a gangster who gets shot. I showed them how to apply the blood so it looked real. Anyway, this fake blood doesn't wash off too easily. This morning, when my wife came to check on me for sleeping so late, she sees the fake blood on my hand and wants to know what happened.
Chief, I don't put milk on grits. Cream of rice which I referred to has a creamy consistancy and is not as course as grits but you don't need milk. Anyway grits are fine with me now. I had to eat the other stuff when I had stomach trouble a long time ago.
Got to run,
Ray"
Ray, when we were in China, they had a thing called "Congi" which was rice with milk. The babies were pretty much given a diet of it and they loved it. I, however, was not brave enough to try it.
Will try to check in soon.Dennis

Alohoa all. Wow, what storms through last eve. I was home hours late due to trees on the train track. Pastor's house struck by lightning and caught fire. Good thing they were all OK. Off to the beach at Crystal Lake

Morning to All,
Belated birthday wishes SJ. Prayers for those that need'em. RT hoping the baking position works out.
Been a busy week 4 days of training, 3 more next week and then it lightens up for a while. Hosting Father's Day dinner tomorrow, finished all the outside chores, mowing, trimming etc. Will be heading to sprint car races tonight with my Dad. He and my Mom are coming up this afternoon. The Mrs. doesn't much enjoy the sprint car races, so glad Dad is coming to go along. Son and his GF along with brother and his family will be coming tomorrow. Sister and BIL and my little train buddy are in Seattle visiting BIL's family so no trains tomorrow, otherwise I'd have been out in the train room preparing for his visit.
Got to get some lunch, Mrs. is at grocery store taking on provisions for the Father's Day dinner.
Take care,
Mitch

Afternoon all!
Back from a week of delayed flights. Spent far more time waiting in planes or airports due to delays than time in the air. Flying has really become a miserable experience. All flights full and loaded with long standby lists since so many miss their flights due to the delays or cancelled flights.
Hot and sunny here for Fathers Day weekend. 100 tomorrow and high 90's today. No rain in sight here.
I was able to escape Chicago earlier than planned yesterday and before all the storms Doug described really messed things up. Unfortunately (sincere apologies Doug - hopefully next time) I was unable to find time to meet with Doug during my short 1.5 day trip. Hope your trip to the beach in Crystal Lake is a fun one.
Relaxing here. Texted the kids this week while traveling to remind them this weekend was Fathers Day weekend and I expect pampering and presents. Also noted the weekend is loaded with races (NASCAR, Rolex Sports Car, etc.) Unfortunately I cannot repeat their responses.
At least the missus this morning made me eggs, toast, and bacon to order for breakfast! It was delish!
Well off to park myself in front of the TV with races, magazines, and a book I am trying to finish.
Regards, Roy
Good morning all, got some sad news a couple of days ago about a tragedy for West Coast Railfans. A guy I know who operates private railroad cars for excursions among other things was on his way home from a private railcar trip. He was driving between L.A. and Arizona when his car crashed and rolled according to local police. His wife was driving and sadly was killed. He was hospitalized for several days himself. Don't know anymore details yet but sent him an E mail. Hope he gets it eventually. He was the partner of a departed friend of mine who was into a lot of things about trains. He started off in HO and graduated to the real thing before his death. The two of them founded a business to provide railroad equipment to the movie industry. My departed friend also worked at the California State Railroad museum when it was being built. He did restoration work at the Nevada State Railroad Museum as well. Hope everyone has a nice father's day tomorrow. I'll be happy if someone else does the cooking or takes us out.
Sent my MTH Z4000 transformer back to Maryland yesterday for repair. $50 for packing and shipping expense but cheaper than a new one.
Dennis, my daughter in law is from China. I'll ask her if she ever heard of that rice dish you described.

Ray, it is pronounced Con-Gee. From what I was told, it pretty much is a staple of the Chinese family diet for young kids.
Father in law and his wife are here as we will be filming the final scene of the movie tomorrow at the church. While we still have the rest of this week for other scenes, this one will include well over 2000 extras. Should be a lot of fun...and a lot of work! Anyway, we all went out to dinner tonight for Italian food and are now stuffed to the gills.
Raining like crazy outside which will bring a welcome relief to the heat. I am told that the heat index for this past week of filming was 110 degrees. Had some folks on the verge of heat exhaustion.
Got a call from one of the guys I work with. His son is taking a "Adventure Camp" in which the kids take some piece of machinery/electronics, etc. that doesn't work and they learn how to diagnose a problem, then, fix it. Sounds like a good course for the young ones. He wanted to know if I had anything his kid could try to work on. I went through my train inventory and they all work, so he got an old VCR that we had laying around.
RT, good luck with the baker position. That seems to be your forte' and I am sure it will come with a little more green to spend on trains.
Hope each of you have a great weekend.God Bless,Dennis
Good Evening
Hot and sunny all day.
Menu for grilled chicken is postponed till tomorrow. Youngest two grandsons proudly walked in with a huge sack of White Castles. That was at noontime and that took care of S J for today.lol Got plenty of banilla for the thingy trip though.
HAPPY FATHERS DAY .....................................S.J.
Glad you got out all right, Roy.
Good evening all,
IIABSDISEI with temps in the 90s in "Infernodiana" (ok, not as good as Hotlanta, but it is the best I can do). Was going to be very ambitious today, but grandkids and graduation party derailed all activity. Maybe tomorrow working around the IRL race I will get some tasks accomplished. None of the "good guys" qualified well. Will Power is on the pole. Dennis, perhaps you should post Spoiler Alerts when talking about the movie. This talk of a gangster character makes me wonder if you doing a parody of the "Sopranos". You said it was about fathers and the dad in the Sopranos was a major focus of the shows. My son might even be interested in this flick. As Captain Amazing said in "Mystery Men", "Keep up the good work". I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast. TBIL anytime. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
RockIsland52 Grayson......you still may be the youngest on the Forum, no? Jack
Chronologically speaking you are correct, but when it comes to the behavior of some who visit that is noway an accurate statement.
Evenin' All.
Been a pretty lazy day, put yesterday's museum toys away after checking & servicing then it was time for baseball. Dogers & Sox, now it's the O's and the Padres.
SJ, A big sack of Whitecastles, yumyum, they are so good but I would be tasting them for several hours after eating them.
Did make a trip to the grocery, picked up the goodies to fix Buttermilk Fried Chicken, Smashed Spuds w/milk gravey & Corn-on-da-cob. Why go out for dinner and put up with the crowds, just as soon fix it myself at home.
for all of those in need.
May all have a Happy Father's Day !

Dougdg, yep ate them at noon still enjoying them. burb, pardon.
Sunny, muggy 80' here this evening. Started out 90's and muggy. Thunderstorm blew trhough mid afternoon and cooled things off a little - shut down the swap meet and canceled the dirt track races tonight too.
Walked around the swap meet (automotive) for a couple of hours. Came away with a new wire brush for my angle grinder and a Craftsman table saw molding cutter set - $24 total spent. Considered a 400 inch small block Chevy short block for $75, but I don't really need another project like that. Besides, with the heads available now, a 350 with a stroker crank and over bore will make as much power - probably be more dependable too.
Put the new Coke box car on order at the LHS.
All for now.
Hi All,
Everything is going fine. Hot and beautiful.
A BLESSED FATHER'S DAY TO ALL !
Prayers for all in need especially for those "IN HARMS WAY"
Happy Father's Day Guys!

Mowed the yard, filled in some low spots with black dirt, but didn't get to trim today and it's all just too muddy under the deck and down in the trees - hoping it dries off a bit tomorrow. It was hot and humid out, so I took it easy and rested often. Then rested and watched some episodes of the Woodwright Shop, and ended up with a nice steak dinner at Chili's.
Nice chat with RT, SJ and Charlie - Tardis is ready, so let's go guys! We have some cookies from the bakery to go with the banilla
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
SEVERE storms going on here ... thought I'd jump in between lightning and just say hi while I quickly check emails and bids .....
Good morning [well, I need to go to bed]. Reclinerized after gettting home late. Sat down to watch news. Made it through the weather. Showing T'storms going out of VA mountains and along the state line. Hope they make the lake house. Real dry there. Watered all of Pam's flower beds up there. Need some rain here. Speaking of rain. Heard bad storms up north and especially in MI. Hope all of our gang is OK.
Finn is growing fast. A lot taller than Lucy now. Burg and him seems to be getting along a lot better. They really do good at the lake house.
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY.
Later.

Happy Father's Day ALL.....
Chris got home on Thursday evening. All is well ! Had a good trip, and I think he learned alot, as well as some self-confidence and reassurance. From everything he has told me he did well. (We have a very close relationship, he shares a lot of stuff with me he won't his Mom. So it works well all things are necessary to be told.) Anyway, El Camino did come home with a sparrow in the grill. What is really funny is what has happened since he has been home. He had quit his job in Feb., because of school, which was fine. He paid for the trip himself, and upon getting back home realized he spent more money that he had planned on. So Friday he gets a call from Bev-Mo, ( a chain of wholesale liquor stores. The stores are about the size of a super-market) anyway he had put in an application a couple of weeks ago. And they called him Friday for an interview Today. He got the job! Unbelievable!
We spent the day today planting rocks in the front flower bed. Tired! Need to start getting ready for the Train running this week.
Checked out the MGIO website, was an interesing website!
Hope everyone survives the weather OK.
Jack, who is training who?
Later, Guys
Don
happy fathers day guys....for anyone liking the sopranos...son married a sicilian girl, she is very thought full and pretty also. wife had a baby shower for her, looked like a scene from the godfather. he had it out in our yard with all christina's relatives, and there were more black luxury cars in our driveway than there ever was. wes i havent won a shay yet, but i won a little gas powered logging critter(gas mechanical is how i believe they describe it). i would still like to win a shay, maybe a climax and an outside frame 4-4-0. the southern fried chicken sounded good mr. baker. this is the morning when i am supposed to have grits, pat i hope you, jack, bob and everyone else have a great day. navyjack
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a beautiful morning. Sunny and 70. Going up to 86 today with sunshine. It's gonna get hot.
Today is an easy day. I have a few chores to do and then, I will take it easy. Watch the ballgame and Nascar race. I think I will spend some time outside, this morning, before it gets hot.
Dining car is here with a big omlet for breakfast.
Happy Father's Day to All.
Y'all have a great Sunday.
Chuck
Morning all and Happy Fathers Day . Nothing planned for today. Just a relaxing day here.
Hope all have a good day and a lot of items received that run on rails
Good Moning from the Jersey Shore: Overcast, 78, 89% humidity, isolated thunderstorms, the forecast was just changed from severe thunderstorms with hail. Temps going to 93.
Made some repairs to the log splitter and split a pickup load of wood. My daughter had 3 large oak trees taken down and I got the wood. Nice, big and heavy, with a lot of the logs over 3 ft. in diameter. I split 5 logs and I loaded the pickup, so you can visualize how big these trees were. After the March storm she was worried about them coming down. They were close to the house. The best part is that I don't have to travel far. She is across the street.
ANJDEVIL, Rich, maybe we can get together when you come to Jersey in a couple of weeks. Update about the "Greenfield Boys", Rob C. hurt his back at work. He is not too bad but it is an OSHA recordable. He did it removing traffic cones from the holders on the front bumper so that he could check the fluids on a truck. Sometimes the simpliest task is all that it takes.
Waiting for my PW 221 Hudson to arrive. I know it is not a true Hudson. It has only 2 wheels on the front truck but I think it is cool.
Thoughts and prayers to all in need.
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!!
John
Navy Jack, I almost forgot, you mentioned about the baby shower and the guests, if you ever get to Jersey, North Jersey, Essex County, not far from NYC, there is a great Italian restaurant, the Belmont Tavern. It is on the Newark/Belleville border. It is like a scene from the godfather. When smoking was allowed in restaurants, that is where all the big cigar smoking goombas were. They are still there but no cigars. The first time I ate there it was right after the movie the Godfather came out and the guys that I were with, co-workers on an OT meal told me that there was a hit there last week and keep my eye on the door and duck if the shooting starts. There was no hit. They just wanted to mess with the new guy. Spanky may know of this place. I have not been there in a while, so maybe next time that we are up that way I will have to take my wife there.
