Buckeye--

For your upcoming trip you may want to pack a life vest with your hiking shoes, we have a forecast of 3-5" of rain tonight w/big winds.  Speaking of big wind, Chief are you OK?  After our last conversation I was concerned about your well being, but not much Tongue

They loved to pull me over as always swore my rear was to high but I always kept it 1" below In pa rear bumper couldn't be higher than 24" I believe it was back in the 70's and your tires could not extend the furthest point on your rear wheel well so we all put extenders on and fiberglassed or bondo them on so look as part of the car they new but also it was now part of the car so we won on that. Oh had 67 Chevy that was once a drag car that a buddies father built was just barley street legal in fact it depended on who inspected it.

Hows it going all. not a lot happening off tomorrow for the pre prep for GI exam Thursday so just clear liquids and jello  for me tomorrow and light color items not dark so yes on lemon, lime and some orange I was told.

Hope all having a good week talk to you all later did get a cheapo train set in today but guy forgot the bridge that was suppose to come with it. just gave it a closer look the train set has never been run by the looks of it has no track but theres no marks on the wheels of the cars and the cars look crisp now box the cover looks like it has been thru WW3 but the bottom is all there and in fair condition.

Talk to you all later

The Time Warner computer expert just crashed my desktop hard drive trying to clean it up.  Should have known as he is from IL.  Not really.  It had almost died anyway.  Been planning to buy a new one for two months.  Its a real old one.  Glad I have a laptop.

Now for TV and popcorn.

BTW: Doug M, the ribbon cutting was a new condo complex.  Catered Italian food.  It was GOOOOOD.

Good morning all,

Not sure about weather today in SE Indiana.  Hopefully it will be dry so we can get our game in.  Long day at work, but busy so time went quickly.  Scrimmaged with "my" soccer girls.  Even the freshman are faster than me.  Hmmmm.   Ground was soggy, but had over 10 show up so it was a good evening.  Slept well.  Soccer is American sport because Americans play in it. Go USA!  I had the regular fare on the dining car before sending it on to "Points East".  TBIL after my game tonight and if we win, I will be doing Victory Barrel Rolls.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a sunny 70 degrees. Going up to 84 today with sunshine.

Today is a busy day. I have a few chores to do and then off to the Fitness Center for a work out. I am on my own for this one. They have all of the right  equipment I need, so it should go good.

Dining car is here and it's the usual for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Wednesday.

Aloha all. Another big storm rolled in during my commute - right as the train pulled in. Good thing the bi-levels are so tall - rain is now off to Sir J and points east. Nice chatting with Sir J, Brutus and RT on my commute home last night about cars and monsters. Lotsa meetings today .. and World Cup on espn3.com.

Morning fellas...some morning drama!

We had our house's exterior painted by a local painting company.  They don't advertise much, and stated to me that they get all of thier business by word of mouth.  They also stated that they don't hire in subcontractors to do work, and that most of their workers have been employed in the company for years.  They did a good job and worked fast.  They gave me a good price as well, wanting to get into our neighborhood.  I referred them to a friend who needed some interior work done in a hurry before they had new carpet laid.  White paint was found on my friend's purse, Big jewelry was missing, and things were moved on the side of the house that no one touches and the painters had no reason to be at.  Turns out that they brought in a convicted fellon to do the work.  He has been arrested 8 times, and served federal prison time.  The owner of the company didn't even know the guy's last name, meaning he probably had no intentions to pay taxes on him either.  The guy was in the house all day with 2 little kids and a pregnent mom while dad was at work.  Not good!  The guy eventually confessed last night but has taken the stuff, but he had been to a pawn shop already.    50/50 chance of jewelry recovery.  The police found all kinds of good fingerprints all over the house in places that shouldn't have his prints.  He's done...

The paint job isn't finished and my friends won't let the company back in the house.  The owner keeps making up excuses and backtracking on why he though it was a good idea to bring this guy in to do the work.  I would hate to be him right now...he stands a good chance of loosing his business with this whole thing.

Good Mornin' Ya'll From Temporarily Clearing Taxachusetts,

Promised the wife I'd plant some more annuals.  Boy was the soil parched yesterday.  Folks here think we are getting enough rain, but they don't realize that what we have gotten since April has been below normal, and the single storm accumulations have been inadequate.  What the mosquitoes didn't bite yesterday the ants took care of.  I'm a mess of bites and bumps.  Apparently the latter were incensed I disturbed their domicile in the ground.

After decades of debate, Taxachusetts still is unable to pass a measure on casino gambling despite the fact tons of MA gamblers dump all of their money into 3 mega facilities beyond our borders, all within 2.5 hours driving time from here.  The politicos have been wrangling over passing a texting ban since 2007.  And now they are wrangling over easing the "no fireworks" within the MA borders.  They have taxed everything to no end and can't face the fact that MA residents just cross the border to neighboring states that are more tax friendly, especially with sin tax items where the cost for a few miles of driving is about 35-40% less.

JimSP......camping with the kiddies!  My daughter and SIL are trying to talk Grammy into an August foray to Vermont with some behemoth rental motor home that sleeps a bunch.  Granny.s idea of camping includes private toilet, shower, separate sleeping quarters, and no bugs.  And her definition of a vacation does not include cooking and cleaning.  We'll see how the discussions go.  In the end I think she will cave because she could not stand to pass up a vacation with the grandchildren.

Wes......that was some bad news about the painter guy.  Call me anal, but I have stuck with inside or outside painters who were relatives of friends, even if the price was a tad higher.  Even then we stash the goodies and check on the rest every day when we have been absent from the ranch.  Bonded, licensed, permitted where applicable, and insured.  Yours was a sad story, particularly since you recommended them.  I would have done the same if my job had turned out ok.

Fife......a vacation until July 12?  Chaos and civil unrest is sure to exist during your absence from the job.  Hope you get a ton of sailing in.

Don.....glad Chris' road trip in the El Camino was memorable and uneventful from a snag standpoint.  Before Jack, my wife had an El Camino.  Wish my son would help out around these parts a little more.  Prayers for your FIL.

Dennis......you are so busy you must have to schedule defecation.

DougM....you'll be glad your son's new bike is currently a tad too big in about two months.  Good luck on your upcoming eye surgery.  FIL Southwest of you says he's been getting so much rain that the grass and shrubbery are going wild.  Thank you for the pictures of the storm looming over the downtown Chicago skyline and the ones of your family outing to the train museum.  I enjoyed both.

Navyjack.......was so sorry to hear of the bear incident.  Shocking, gruesome, and sad.  Most folks think of New England as mostly urban but it is not.  It is not uncommon to have bear sitings within a 20 minute drive from here, and coyotes have become urban carnivores and dwellers in my own neighborhood.  Throw in deer and a fisher cat of two for good measure.  Pets always come up missing if left unattended outdoors.  We've had some rabid fox and  racoon attacks too.

Roy......the winters up my way may be too much for some, but the other three moderate seasons make up for it.  We have been in the nineties on a couple of occasions this year but nothing like you get.  My Dad used to (have me) water around the foundation of a room addition he had put our old house as it would start to separate from the main house when things got too dry.  A rain dance may be in order for you and me, clothes optional.

MikeC.....my SIL is a soccer fanatic and is buying tickets to take me to Fenway Park for a matchup between Sporting of Portugal and I forget whom.  July 21.  There is something that bothers me watching a sport where over the course of 90 minutes there is little or no scoring.  Usually I am sucking down a brew or eating a hotdog or getting distracted by a tank top when a goal does materialize, no replay, except with the tank top.

DougDG......thank you for the pictures of the USS York.  Impressive, and I particularly enjoyed the Never Forget painted on the bow.

Rich, 8N, and RT.......enjoyed your stories of yesteryear and cruising in your old iron.  Do any of you still have these cars?  I had Hooker full race side exhausts on my 1969 Corvette, replacing the factory side exhausts.  The police were forever pulling me over to express displeasure at that beautiful harmony of the small block in full song.  Yup, I had all of the muffler inserts in place, but they still didn't like them.  I sure did.  Kept the headers but went with a stock rear exhaust when I got a little older and became intolerant of the noise (couldn't hear the radio no matter what) and the exhaust dumping into the car when sitting at traffic lights.  The ladies found both characteristics tiring after the novelty wore off and they arrived places smelling of something stronger than their perfume.  I told them their essence was intoxicating to me, but they weren't buying it, asking me to roll up the windows, pop on the t-tops, and to turn on the a/c.

My first recollections of cruising was when I was 15 in a friend's mechanically and cosmetically toasted 50s Studebaker sedan with a 3 on the tree.  Seemed like it was powered by hampsters.  But for a 25 cent donation for gas from each of us, we were all set for the evening.  Certainly not a chick magnet, but it kept us out and about.

Jon......sorry to hear that your rain continues unabated.  Send some to Roy or me.

SJ......prayers that Granny's July 30 eye surgery is fast and trouble free.  Have you considered your strategy for when she can actually see your messes?  Prayers, brother, the fun is about to start, your loafing ways may get rescheduled, and those serene evenings of peace and quiet on the porch enjoying a beautiful summer breeze may be at an end.

Chief.....I keep checking my front porch for large cartons marked "perishable and fragile" for my tomatoes.  Nothing yet.

OleTimer.......re your posting the same post 4 times.  Take a shot or two of JD to settle the fingers down before you post.  It may help.

Brutus......wonder if the docs found the source of your wife's rash.  Bet she is allergic to you!  Wouldn't that be a hoot!

Chuck.....wow!!!!  Three-a-weeks!  You must be psyched at all of this progress in just a few short months.  Please post pictures of the scenery at the health club, but make sure you turn off the treadmill first.  We wouldn't want you to pull a Brent!

Off to hack away at some bushes and to plant some more flowers If you don't hear from me, check out the nearest ant hole and see if my foot is sticking out.  They can be strong and determined little suckers

Later, gang.

Jack

Lunch Time, Greetings from Central Jersey,

Roy, I wish your son luck on his "procedure". Speedy Recovery

8N, That is the first thing that we did was take the bumper off the front of Tri-Five Chevys. It made them "FASTER"???? I had a few 55 & 56's but I never had a 57. Being a wise guy I wired a heater hose between the front frame horns and when I was stopped in Seaside Heights the cop asked me where my bumper was, I pointed to the heater hose and told them that if Pontiac can put a rubbber bumper on the front of the GTO, I could put one on my Chevy. He said that he would let me go on that but he wrote me up for loud exhaust.

Jack, 69 Vette with A/C? Don't tell me with an automatic also. That is cruisin in luxury. we called it excess weight and hp robbing. as to having the cars. The same ones no, but I have a nice 65 Mustang and a 56 Chevy Nomad that is to be my retirement project.

Thoughts and prayers to all in need.

Afternoon boys.  Afternoon English.  A North Texas  kinda forecast for the Mid-Atlantic region.  Took #2 princess for first stage of her root-canal this morning.  Littlest princess wanted to sit in on the procedure.  Don't know when or where, but she must have caught Marathon Man recently.

Fifepup was supposed to meet RAVEN Michael Oher last night.  #74 cancelled without reason, so you can say the boy was Blind Sided...

Hudson#685 - Always carefull.  We had a pretty hush-hush crime scene last night that I stood watch on.  So I glided right into R&R.

TCA dinner-cruise tonight.  We board at 1830.  Will try and take some pics.

Jack, Still have my roadrunner, the Demon was sold 7 years ago because of an impending divorce (stupid me...), the Hemi Challenger got sold and I have one of the pistons out of the engine (don't ask, I didn't do it..).  I've had some preeettyyy imposing machinery back in the day...safe to say, my Dad wasn't a fan of loud exhaust at 0200...

The Challenger was an ex-race car..headers and header mufflers...at Asbury Park, the nice sea air and climate, it would pull the front wheels off the ground.  I had to push it away from my girl friends house so I wouldn't PO her mom Smile,Wink, & Grin.  Had everything from 426 Hemi Challenger 4Speed, 440 6 Pak/ 4 Speed roadrunner, a '70 440 Manual/Auto. roadrunner, my current '70 roadrunner 383/4 speed. 225/340/360 Demon (yeah, we changed engines in that one), 360 Aspen Wagon, 68 383 Charger, 68 426 Hemi 4 speed Charger.  The 68 CJ Cougar 289 CJ/HO T-10 4 speed was a trip.

And that was some of the weapons in the Mopar Arsenal....

Afternoon all.  HOT and humid.  Over 100.  Not normal for NC this early in the summer.  Even the dogs want to stay in.  Found out the hot air is coming from Ioway.  Running soaker hoses.  Got early morning meeting tomorrow and then errands.  Off to the lake house later.  Contractor is not coming until Monday as so hot they are taking breaks on the jobs they are on now.

Off to run errands.  Later.

ChiefEagles

More like grizzly rifle.

I'm with the Chief on this one.  I think a heavy caliber dose of hot lead would do more good than a spray can on these kind of bears.  Kind of slow this week and not much exciting to report.  Just had a dentist appointment today with the hygentist.  They found a little swelling in some of my gum tissue under a partial.  Took Xray but nothing alarming.  Dentist suggested leaving partial out at night and rinse with salt water and have it rechecked next week.  As Roseanne, Rosana Danna used to say, "its always something".

Weather is warm here but not super hot yet.  I'm grateful.  Ran trains a litttle yesterday with the Lionel ZW while the MTHZ4000 is away for repairs.  Got an aviation book for fathers day.  The pictures were great but the print was so small I could not read it without hurting my eyes.  Took back to store at son's suggestion and traded for a DVD that my wife and I like.

My wild tomato plants are still doing good.  Have to water them a little today.  Seems like the only tomatoes with a good price at the produce store are the Roma variety.  I like the round tomatoes on the vine better for size and flavor.  Of course, home grown is the best.

Doug, thanks for thinking of me when you toured the ACL dinning car.  Even though I rode trains growing up on the ACL, I don't think the local train I rode had a dinning car.  It was only a 100 mile trip so they just had a news butcher that sold snacks.  I have eaten on dinning cars on other railroads however including the old triple articulated dinning car that they had on the Coast Daylight.  I think 3rd rail is making a model of that now amoung other things.

later,

Ray

Good Afternoon All,

What a day yesterday!  Had FIOS installed, then the Operating session at my place!  FIOS (Verizon's form of bundled communications, TV, Internet, and Phone.  All via underground fiber optic cable.  The system has been here in the city for about 7 years.  Four/Five years ago major emphasis was on subscribing.  I was reluctant, but now had no choice.  So its done.  The good news is I now get RFD TV !  Looking forward to that!  Kay already doesn't like it!  Any change to phone service here requires changing over to mandatory dialing 10 digits for local calls.  Now that is a pain!

The Verizon guy left about 12:45, then it was a panic to get ready for the "guys" to start arriving for the trains.  The 1st one arrived at 1:00 the last one left at 10:45, a long day!  Total of 7 guys from AGHR, most of the time there were 5 guys their, the last 2 arrived about 5pm.  We did a BBQ, and ran lots of trains!  The layout did well and everyone seemed to have a good time, inspite of the crowded conditions.  (Note to self - In the future dont invite more than 3 or 4 maximum at one time.)  I really didn't think everyone would show, but they did.  We had plenty of food and drinks so it worked well.  Ended up with one new convert to DCS, the clubs layout has lots of issues with DCS.  So many of the "problem" engines worked flawlessly.  Didn't have but 1 pile up, and that was due to a switch being thrown mid train.    I would have been in big trouble IF I didn't have the help of Kay and Chris during the event.

Now will have to see if I can get the TV and stuff all working right, and everyone acclimated to all the change.

Hi guys, can't wait till tonite for this story. I walked into the bathroom this afternoon and the water was gently swaying from side to side.  I'm thinkin that looks like an earthquake. The five o clock news confirmed that there was one in Canada today, swayed the tall buildings in Detroit, no damage. Very rare in these parts. Oh well so now I will wait for the thingy but keep banlla in freezer till they arrive....TTFN....S.J.
