Aloha everyone. Beauty of a day today. Glad it's June: Summer.  Back at work. Bride seems to be enjoying her new deck furniture which will restrict my train purchases - and everything else for a while  Wink. Nice game by the Blackhawks last night.  Thanks to SJ and Brutus for putting up with me on Yahoo IM last eve.  Big Smile. Prayers for SJ to feel better and for Fifepup's recovery.

Wow, May flew by.  Wife just made sausage and bisquets so we are about to take in some grundage.  Getting plans together for a treck to Orlando in a few weeks.  I am on call and will be heading in shortly.  Doug, I see a article on Michael Jordan's statue being 'dressed up' in Blackhawks attire....funny.  I have a friend who used to play for the Blackhawks till he broke his shoulder.

Better get to eating.  Hope each of you have a blessed day.

Angel Prayers for Fifepup's recovery - Fife tell him it is not a competition to see who can survive the worst accident!

Dr appointments this morning... healing up nicely. Humerous has a nice 'hump' where the bones are rejoining, wrist is looking 'super'. Was instructed to 'not use the sling anymore. You are just causing the elbow to get lazy'. The wrist surgeon told me that I get a new 'less restrictive' splint when I go to the PT! Wonder if they can pencil me in tonight? Wink

Morning guys - took Chewy to the vet this morning.  She's sleeping it off.  Wife has plans for me to put up shelves in the front hallway.  After that, I need to mow the jungle - if it is dry enough.  Might only do the front and sides today and let the hill dry off more, we'll see.

TTFN!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

RT, thanks for cranking up the pot for June.

Jack, are you actually coming out here to drive the car for you wife?  Weather should be nice and warm for you.  Predicted to go into the 90's by this coming weekend in the Valleys and a few degrees cooler in downtown L.A. and at the beaches.  One of my pet peeves over the years was the TV weathermen referring to the "Valley" temperature as if there were only one "Valley".  We have two and I live in the other one. "The San Gabriel Valley".  The San Fernando Valley as suggested by the weathermen used to have more snob appeal I guess.  Now they just put up a visual on the screen referring to the valleys (plural).

Big annual Memorial Day live steamers meet in Los Angeles this past week end.  I used to go there years ago to see a departed friend of mine run his 0-4-0 inch and a half scale steam switcher.  He kept moving up in sizes in the train world until he had a full size 4-4-0 oil burning american type engine that was originally owned by his company "Short Line Enterprises".  He also went on to work in the building of the California State Railroad Museum in Sacramento and then on to the start of the Nevada State Railroad Museum.  Sadly, he died way to young in his 40's I think of heart failure.

Usual breakfast of oatmeal and banana following morning walk.

Have a good day, Ray

Hi All,

Had a good weekend with family and friends. Did get to the parade in Walled Lake. Was memorable BUT did not hear any patriotic music from the  bands and dance schools. Too much like a celebration. The crowd did remember ! All stood up and saluted /cheered the military and Veterans as the marched by. It did remind me to call a friend in the Dayton, OH area who lost his 24yr old son to an IED in Iraq three years ago.

My next post will not be doom and gloom.

Prayers for all in need, Especially for those IN HARMS WAY.

Just back from a walk up to the MCA and back - home of weird modern art. May be a tad warm for the 4 mile round trip.  Dennis, the Jordan status even has skates. That attention to detail is a trademark of the Blackhawk's new president, John McDonough, who used to be the marketing genius behind the Cubs.

Ray......she lands in Long Beach in about 15 minutes, so you, DougDG, and Don better go into hiding.  She refuses to take any sort of livery to the airport on this end and wants me to drive her.  That way she can be as late as she can be and then can beat the horse (me) to make sure she doesn't miss her flight.  If I came out there to drive her around, I could dump her off in Santa Ana and we would have time to go visit the "infamous neighbor" and some train shops.  Wink

Good Morning/Afternoon Boyz & Girlz !

Had a great day yesterday, started off not so good, but after repairing a "wye" and correcting some TPC issues all was fine & fun. Of the 28 kids scheduled for the "Fun Run" had one call-in sick and one no-show, but a couple of die-hards who came in without a track and wandered the museum were able to fill vacancies. Thumbs Up Came home and fixed a Garlic & Lemon Pork Tenderloin w/smashed taters & buttered sweet corn. Dinner

Jack, You and Jon need to co-ordinate your CFO's visits to Californey at the same time, can we spell PARTY ! Mischief

Fife, Prayers out for fifepup, just don't let Princess draw a bullseye where she has to give the shots, or play connect the dots either. Big Smile

Picked-up a LL Vat car to re-make into a "Condiment Car" for the 4th of July Train. Hopefully it will turnout good.

On another note I made the mistake of looking at some of the Lionel Halloween stuff in the newest catalog. Blood Bank Tank, Transfusion Bunk Car, Vampire Transport .....Thumbs Up  Thumbs Up  Thumbs Up  Approve

Nice pic, Buckeye!  DougDG - those are some neat cars, I already preordered some Thumbs Up

Lawn mowed except under the deck and down in the trees - too wet.  Man it was hot out and serious humidity too.  I picked up some brackets and frames for shelves to put in the front hall, but I forgot my phone so didn't buy the shelves (wood) yet - have to agree on that one too.  I thought about using some vinyl "wood" that is made for trim around garage doors, but I think it would deflect too much.

Be back later Smile

RT, just remember, let no good deed go unpunished!  Thanks for starting her and I see now that it is changed.  Been a long day.  Had a late case and then I came home to plant two peach trees in the rain.  At least in the rain, the ground is not rock hard and I can get a shovel to it.

Kids have been real good these last few days.  They cleaned up without prodding and have done well with violin lessons and other tasks without complaint....hmmm I wonder if they are up to something?

Rich, glad you made it back safely.  I know you had been looking forward to the trip for some time.  How was the dinner?  Regarding taking in the call, that was like me taking in a job Christmas morning, only it was a real cooker.  They have photos of me in scrubs stretching lines.

God BLess,
Dennis

Good Evening

Just a beautiful day, low 80s a lite breeze.

Of course all that changes tomorrow with storms forecast.

Dentist this morning to have repairs made that the tremors have caused, I'm hoping that the meds will keep them within reason and no more damage. We shall see. On the way home got a haircut and lunch at Arbys.  Banilla is waiting and those aboard the thingy can help themselves...S.J.

Good Evening from the Jersey Shore,

79 and raining hard. Just got back from a wake. A friend from work's Dad died. He was 78 and died from a heart attack. He was a great guy and a Lionel fan. Also a guy that I work with died suddenly from a heart attack on Saturday. He will be missed also. What a way to start a week.

Thoughts and prayers to Fife Pup, Sj and all those in need.

Rich, glad that you made it back safe. Get some sleep.

John

Sunny and high 80's here today - humidity to match.

Got back from our Indiana/Michigan trip this weekend, unloaded the car, did laundry and mowed the lawn.

Visited our oldest son and his wife in Indiana and got up to see mom in Michigan on Monday.  Inturned dad's ashes on Monday too.  Somehow, Memorial day seemed fitting.  Dad served with the Army Air Force in North Africa during WWII.  I need to contact the VFW about a veteran's marker for his grave.

Interesting news from the family - one of my nephews in enlisting in the Army this summer.  E-mail from the Finish exchange student we hosted years back informs that we now have another exchange grandbaby. They had a baby girl on May 28.  My sister's cancer is still in remisson, and she has gained a little weight back.  Mom is having PT on her shoulder and is talking about having her other knee replaced later this year.

Train stuff - not much.  Still considering the Texas Freight set in the 2010 catalog.

Prayers for healing and of thanks for safe travel this weekend.

Back to work tomorrow - got to keep those Social Security coffers full so checks don't bounce.

Evening all!

Back from Memorial Day weekend at the lake. Told the 16 year old he could invite up to three friends. Due to the "new math" taught in schools today we ended up with SIX 16 year olds. OW! Actually they were very well behaved. The good part for me and the missus is we had to pitch a tent for them as there was no room in the INN for all of them. Luckily the weather cooperated and although low 90's during the day, the evenings cooled off nicely. The tent was in an RV spot so we had power and brought a fan for the tent. We had an old family tent (high ceiling and a partition) that sleeps six. I almost gave it to Salvation Army a few weeks back when I was cleaning out the garage and for some reason I put it back in the garage.

Weatherbum here says we will hit 100's this weekend. One wag even predicted 104. Too hot already. May was a terrible month for rain this year. Hope the drought is not returning. My house foundation cannot take anymore abuse, so the big oak tree in the back yard may be history this year if rainfall is deficient.

Jack,

LB Airport is about 15 min from my place.  COME ON DOWN !  I will make "special" arrangements with the neighbor.  Got plenty of stuff to occupy the time.

Just let me know,  (BTW I know the path to both Doug's and Ray's places also.)
