Who is coming to Baltimore for the TCA convention in 2 weeks?
I had hoped to attend a few days but training will prevent mid-week attendance and the Mrs informed me we are attending nieces dance recitals on Thursday and Saturday during the convention. So....I will not make it. Mitch

Good Morning

Cloudy but warm, AC is on.

Charlie and Toni were great host and a good time was had by all as they say. The modules are the locally well known Glancy modules seen at almost all large local train shows and other special events. Everyone have a great sunday, I expect to goof off...S.J.

Brutus
I need to replace a few boards this year or else flip them over - depends on how rough they are on both sides.

Tardis is ready and I see the beta capsule on the screen along with multiple beacons, so it must be time to fly Laugh

We have a deck on the east side of the house, made from 5/4" X 6" treated stock, that was there when we purchased 32 Yrs. ago. 15 Yrs. ago I flipped the boards over and the deck is still standing strong. Go for it!Thumbs Up

Hi GUYZ,

Been real busy since school got out.  Working on the addition, got all the V groove hung on the ceiling.  Ran all the cope and sticker joints for the wainscotting.  Bought the red oak plywood for cabinets.  Tomorrow going to plane down more oak for the fake beams for ceiling then finsh with polyurethane then put up on ceiling.  Tuesday will go up to Pioneer Tunnel and fire up the 0-4-0, can't wait to see DA GUYZ.

CHARLIE, and SIR JAMEs nice modular!!!!  Looks like fun time.

Stay frosty,

Morning all!

MItch - I also watched Le Mans  - last night and the end this morning. Pretty neat.

I have a trip this week starting dark-thirty tomorrow to Wash DC and Chi Town (thanks Doug for the invite! We'll see what happens). May not be able to post until I return.

Busy day today getting ready and doing chores. Will watch some of the NASCAR race. Neat last night that Joey Logano won his 3rd straight at Kentucy. Looks like a neat track - said they may get a cup race there next year - hope so.

Sir J - nice of you to help Charlie with the modular - neat idea being outdoors! Happy B-Day to you later this week! Happy B-Day

Don B - what is Chris doing in Anna TX???? (about an hour north from here).

Have a great day all!

Good morning all,

It is cloudy in an undisclosed location in the South land.  Discovered many places to sneak in IRL and Dollar General stickers as well as soccer balls to distribute thru out the South.  USA was very lucky to get tie in yesterday's game.  Saucy wench is feeling better and we will be heading to the heart of the CTT 'pot tomorrow.  TBIL any time.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Morning guys - Slept like a rock, but woke up with a sore back.  I need to get some work done around the house, so probably get on that soon.  Might not do too much today though.  Watched some Man Vs Food shows this morning and one episode was set in Saint Louis.  They went to 3 places and I've eaten at two of them and they are great.  I never even heard of the third one though Laugh  Guess I need to find out where it is!  The two I can recommend are Pappy's Smokehouse and Crown Candy Company Thumbs UpThumbs Up

Good Afternoon Ya'll From Overcast and Misty Taxachusetts,

Dropped wifey off at Boston Logan this morning.  She's off to Washington DC until Friday, so I'm a bachelor this week.  She left instructions on planting all of annuals she bought yesterday.  So when the rain passes I'll have to get them in the ground.

SJ......glad to hear your better half had smooth sailing.  My wife's procedure wasn't.

Lee.....sorry to hear that the economy down by you is no better than it is here.  Keep the faith.

Pat......re the wooziness while digging a hole in high temp/high humidity conditions in the sun.  Beer doesn't hydrate you but it sure goes down smoothly.  Wink

Fife.....had to laugh at Fifepup's terrible dilemma and your setting him straight.  Let's see.  He gets to sit by a pool convalescing with gaggle of girls fawning all over him in his condition.  That certainly is NOT a nasty "break."  Smile,Wink, & Grin

MikeC......don't let some NC slickster sneak some grits into your diet.

Later, gang.

Good Sunday Afternoon From SWELTERING North East Florida

Temps are like near the 100’s today..the Mrs. is at her part time job, the kids are

at the movies and I’m at work, catching up.  The Mrs’s car blew out the a/c compressor (at a very convenient time, of course) and even if I do the work, looks like over $350.  Just don’t have the cash for this nonsense right now... ..Banged Head

We have someone looking at the house so I’ve been temporarily displaced..Banged Head

Cleaned up the layout room a bit, vacuum and all that, looking pretty spiffy right now.

Charlie, that’s pretty cool!  I like that, but, with the weather here, the track base might melt.  I’ve been toying with the idea of doing a module, but there aren’t any O scale clubs here...maybe in the next move.....

Glad you guys had a great time with that...!

OK,  have a great rest of the weekend...I’ll check back tonight or tomorrow...

sounds like a bummer with that air conditioner failing when you need it the most. i am not supposed to drink any booze as it interacts with my medicine, but i allow myself to have a treat on fathers day and on my birthday.  i will have an ice cold old style or a pbr and feel drunk the rest of the day. i was looking at the on30 logging equipment on ebay and they look cool.  i put in a bid on an on30 engine. lots of building kits also.  see what you did wes?  if only i could make the cool scale buildings. navyjack

Re your Z-4000, there may not be any help for you on this. Not sure if the Z caused the problem. We have had our club Z-4000 fail the same way and it was not tied to anything else. Hate to say it, but I have been running my stuff for years on ZW's and no breakers, etc. But very few wrecks on my simple 8x12 layout (two loops). You should be fine until you get the Z-4000 fixed.

That is what puzzles me Roy.  I can't identify what caused this to fail.  I have been running with the same set up for years without any problem between my Lionel V and the MTH Z4000.  It might just be the nature of the beast to take a dump once in a while.  The only thing I can think of is the heat in my garage in the summertime might do some damage over a long time.  It gets up to 100 in there on some summer days.  I will use the old ZW if I have to send the Z4000 back.  I'll just have to be more careful about derailments and short circuits.  When I built my layout about 1977, I wired everything to my  type V Lionel transformer.. When the Z4000 came along, I just hooked it up to the same two loops I have and left the old transformer in place.  I don't have enough feeders from the Z4000.  Most of my old feeders are wired to the type V.  Therefore, when I try to run a conventional train with the Z4000 using just the throttle handles, I get voltage drops in some places.  I tried to compensate for this by adding some more power from the V to fill in the areas with voltage drops.  This has never caused an electrical problem in the past so long as both transformers are in phase.  However, Barry Broskowitz on the DCS forum told me that running two transformers wired to the same track is dangerous and problematic.  I hope all this makes sense.  Thanks for your comments Roy,

Ray

HOME!!!! Temp was close to 100 and humidity was close to 100%.  All you had to do was look outside and you would sweat!!!!

Hung a ceiling fan in the new porch [10' ceiling] with extension rod.  Ceiling fan was manufactured by the DEVIL!!!!!  Parts usually hard to do were easy and the simple things were hard.  Had 5,000 trim rings and etc. to slide up that rod before you could put the pin in the fan top and rod. Banged Head  Even two trim pieces to go over the top of the fan.  All this while on an 8 foot ladder.

Have not had time to read and catch up.  Had to pick garden in the dark.  Had run soaker hoses before I left as forecast was hot and dry.  Got home to an inch and a half of rain.  Some yesterday and some today. Banged Head

Mike C and Bride are due tomorrow.  Will load them up with sqash and cucumbers.  That is, if they ever make it back across the M&D. Whistling

Popcorn and Coke Zero.

Later.

Hiya guys - well, worked on the basement for a few hours, dragging out all the torn up chunks of drywall and foam insulation plus a few empty boxes from the bathroom.  Cut it all up and put it in big black trashbags and completely filled up both my garbage cans.  It was about 91 degrees and about 99 percent humidity, which did not help!  Then we went out to eat at a local Mexican place - good food!  Now we're watching Irma La Duce, which was a great old Jack Lemon movie with Shirley McClain.  TARDIS IS READY, so let's hit it boys!

Hot humid..but still no rain here in Michigan.  My oldest turned 6 today.  Had family over for cake and ice cream.  Picture perfect weekend other than the humidity...I'll take it over rain though!  Next weekend north to the lake.

Ran two trains tonight at the same time. Woohoo! Picked my best 4 switches and had to completely isolate the two loops w/ fiber pins. No switches operating as yet. In time. Need to make the mods to two more. Ran both the 2025 and the 1615. The KW seemed to have plenty for both. Realized while this was going on that I had never really done this. Ever. We used to run my bro's AF w/ my HO set round the Christmas tree, but we never quite got to two complete loops w/ the HO layout. 42 years and a dream realized (albeit a minor one).

Came to a agreement w/ myself regarding the 2224W tenders. I have enough parts from two to make one all original right down to the coupler. Will put that together and then prob sell it off. The plastic body one I can make work for me.

Tomorrow the Corvair.

Mornin' Fellas.

Been busy around here. Had a good week of PT that week. The PT told me in one week I went from-15 degrees to +55 degrees rotation in my wrist! On Saturday I finally finished spackling and sanding the sunroom. SusieQ and her Father got the screen doors on the screened porch sanded and sealed, and then they painted the window sills for the sunroom. That night SusieQ and I went to The Home Despot and picked up the mouldings for around the windows and doors, and baseboards. Yikes! is there alot of it! Sunday we headed back to The Home Despot to pick up the teak glider for the screened porch. Then back home and her Father came out and we got two coats of primer on the sunroom walls and ceiling, then we built the glider and I can honestly say both spaces are really taking shape. Should have the sunroom painted and the trim painted and hung this weekend. Hope to get the floor installed next weekend, then get the baseboards and door mouldings installed teh following week and hopefully finish July 4th weekend.

Happy Monday...

Im finally getting the grass to start looking pretty good.  Scott's 4 step for a year and lots of rain.  Hopefully it lasts the summer heat.

Brent, we have a 4-seasons room addition on our house. Nice sized room at 11x17.  There is a vent in there for heat and AC, as well as a couple of baseboard heaters for the winter.  It's poured on a slab lower than the rest of the house and you step down into it from the kitchen.  It has horizonal cedar slats from floor to ceiling.  Drywalled ceiling and skylight.  New ceiling fan.  I just finished pulling down the old vertical blinds on the 6 windows and replaced them with some rollup bamboo shades, new carpet, replaced the dated track lighting with single fixture drop down pendent lighting, and am half done (the hard part) with wiring up TV hookups and power for a small LCD TV high up on the wall.  The wife is going for a tropical decor, but not really beachy..whatever that means.  Regardless, it looks great and has become one of my favorite rooms in the house.  It would have made a great train room too...or course.

Jack Turns 4 years old Saturday, and we are going to watch Toy Story 3 Friday at the movies.  He's big into Toy Story right now.  Happy father's day Sunday.

Aloha all from a beautiful day in Chicago as the fog burns off. I think our youngest, the birthday boy, enjoyed his big day turning 8. Highlight was a new bike. Do you remember how your first nice bike was such a big deal? He also got a new soccer ball and street hockey puck.

Looks like a quiet day here at work. Might go to the Illinois Railway Museum for Father's day if I can talk the family into it. Meeting with the pastor tonight. Then advice-giving to the daughter's boyfriend who really doesn't seem to have anyone speaking into his life. And to honor Mike C, I will watch the next World Cup match online in 20 minutes Big Smile

In honor of Flag Day, I'm looking for the facilities guys to raise the flag out on the big pole on the roof. They rarely do so because it's a big pain to get out there 19 stories up.

Still seem to be on telescope time, but getting there. At this rate I'll be back on day shift for maintenance (tomorrow) and still be on a night clock.

Meeting today (None of us is a dumb as all of us...), pick up Corvair parts, and maybe haircut. Prob no engine start today. Then a date later, so I can't complain.

Good Afternoon Ya'll From Overcast and 70 Taxachusetts,

Wife down in Washington DC.  She may have to launch a rescue incursion into NC and Roseyville to liberate MikeC who is presently in the evil clutches of that dastardly villain, Chief.  Happy Flag day all.

At long last I have figured out how to post an avatar.  That's our 20 month old Doberman Maximus, no relation to BrutusBig Smile

Worked several hours Saturday and Sunday helping a friend do a resume from scratch.  He "lost" his original resume file, never reproduced it, and didn't keep up with what he has done in his most recent job of 8 years..... a position he lost when his company went belly up and liquidated.  He was really down in the dumps when we started (scared, frozen, negative, defeated) but was on cloud nine by the time we finished.....including a cover letter.  Then we submitted both to a company for a position he may have an inside track to.  The cover letter matches his skills and abilities to the position requirements to a T.  Had him send the stuff to an inside employee I know for hand delivery to the hiring manager.   My friend didn't fully appreciate  what good things he brings to an employer's table until he read it in black and white.  I'll be working with him preparing for an interview so he doesn't feel he has to do this stuff alone and is prepared to confidently put his best foot forward.  Time to do some appearance "adjustments" as well.  I am not good at a lot of things but was glad I could help him.

SJ......you cannot possibly be turning 71 on Thursday.  You and I are middle aged, right?  Confused

Pat......frozen beer mugs, doesn't get any better than that.  I start out with the beer in the fridge, cooled to 35 degrees, and then pull out the frosted mugs.  Everyone loves beer, Jack style.  Thumbs Up

Rich.....sorry to hear you are in Brent's pickle.  Summer and bad auto a/c units.  Timing couldn't be worse.  Banged Head  Is NJ in your future?

I need an update on Spanky's knee PT.  Sounded from the last report like his hammy is finally cooperating.

Wes......does any of the Scott's steps include grub control, GrubX?  It's time for those of us in our climate to eradicate the larvae, before they turn into voracious Japanese beetles and emerge from the ground.

NAVYJACK......beer IS medicine.  Smile,Wink, & Grin  Your new pc is cranking!

DougM, Mitch, and Wes.......Happy B-Day to your little guys!  Yup, I remember my first new bike.  Think I was 12 and had to survive on junkers until then.  No $.  A Schwinn Corvette with the stainless fenders, the front book rack, white wall tires, in a metallic red.  Ah, the liberation a bicycle provided back then, and a feeling of power and adventure.

OleTimer......remember the days when we had NO a/c in our homes?  Only had those huge window fans about the size of an aircraft engine to move the air into/out of the house.  I think it was 1962 before my folks had it in a car, a few years before we had the $ for a color television.  Shock

Bob......re the 42 year dream of having two operating loops.  better late than never.  Thumbs Up

Chuck.....hope PT isn't "overstimulating" today.  Better yet, I hope it is.  Laugh

Brent.....I can just imagine how much you could get done on the 4 seasoned room with two arms!  Can't keep a crazed guy like you down, and the help of family sure comes in handy.  How is Suzie-Q's whip holding out?  Smile,Wink, & Grin

Sounds like RaySP, DougDG, and Don's CA pools are now at a Carribean-like 80+ degrees but without the crude oil floating at the top.

The Boston Celtics are up 3-2 and headed your way to LA to finish the NBA season, off one way or another.

Later, gang.
