Brutus...One of the not so good things about being a "newbie" is sometimes learning about issues that others that you do not know are going through. This is the case with reading about the issues that you and your wife are going through. Even with not knowing you, I totally sympathize with all you are all dealing with. It is great that you have a support group like the crew here on the "pot". All I can add to what I am sure has already been said to you is hang tough, be there for your wife no matter what, and regardless of  what comes at you both...keep the faith. If you do these things, the rest will take care of itself.

My continued prayers Angel  go out to you and your wife and other loved ones that share in your fight.

Ken

Howdy guys - first, big congrats ROY!  Boy, I'll be you are relieved now!  How did all that construction turn out, can't remember, or is it still going on - I know how these jobs can just drag on forever!

Nice chats with Doug, RT, and SJ tonight.  Tardis is about ready, just taking on "Fuel" for the trip (Old MIlls and Pretzels, check....  Sam Adams, check...  Banilla?  Hmmm - got a regular supplier we can hit along the way....)  Laugh  Mike should be ready to go by now, right?  Need some of that Bread man!

No trains today, but did read some in Trains magazine.

Chief, my beloved wife is feeling pretty well today.  Had her weekly test and her anemia is still bad, but not as bad as last week so no transfusion this week.  It's been about every 3rd week now.  Next Tuesday we will see the head of the department at SLU Hospital that does bone marrow transplants.  We are going to shoot for the remission/cure route on this.  She has idiopathic myelofibrosis which is a condition where her bone marrow is turning to a kind of scar tissue.  She will get chemo/radiation, then the transplant, and then some weeks in the hospital due to immune system suppression.  She will then have to be in a very clean house (we have some work to do!) for up to a couple months - perhaps up to 6 months.  When the doctor decides her immunity is up to it, she will be able to go out again.  The idea is that her bad bone marrow will be replaced by good bone marrow.

I have gotten a lot of great emails from you guys as well as chats and posts here and I know that your prayers and good thoughts are helping us and getting us closer to being well again.  God will see us through this and everything to come, I know that is true Smile

Right, well, I am done crying - Tardis is ready - be there in a minute!  Keep Watching the Skies!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Evening all!

Warm one here today - mid-90's. Summer has arrived.

Chief - how would a guy who is "all wet" know if it is raining outside or not?

Vacation over and back to w**k tomorrow.

Hope all have a great day tomorrow!

Regards, Roy

News flash on computer.  2 found dead.  No word on third one as of yet.  Not looking good.  Doppler Radar shows red all around Roseyville and we do not have a drop. ????

Now on the serious side.  Brutus, I want the truth about wife.  She had a lot of serious tests.  Then suddenly you do not say much.  I'm being nosey but the POT is for support as well as teasing and etc.  I have been personally worried about her.  I remember her in prayer all the time.

Well, I'll go outside and see the lightning and maybe get rained on. [I hope]

Good night all.

Evening all. Bride out cavorting with local celebrities. I'm holding the fort. Searching the skies for the Tardis. Where are you, Brutus?

George, I used to love camping in NH - Lake Conway. Thank goodness LA taxes will finally creep closer to Chicago's, Don. Wink Congrats on the trip, Dennis.  I get to go to multiple White Sox games - one tomorrow and one Thur - with my boy.

Chief, hope they find the folks missing and that they were just not there.  Most times, if they haven't been found by now, it is not good.  As for Kim, gave her some happy medicine, so she is either fast asleep or bouncing off the walls.

RT, got the email, but like you, I don't have wide enough curves. (planned it that way or I would have purchased a lot more engines).  Thanks for thinking of me though.

Well, I am about whooped.  Wife has a new friend that she worked with in Vacation Bible School last week.  Nice lady who has two kids about our children's age and her husband is a real nice guy.  He is a logistics officer with USMC.  He won a auction for a fishing trip to the gulf coast for six people for 3 days and 2 nights.  Invited my son and I to go.  That sounds like we are going to have a great time.  This will be the first time I have gone Red fishing.  Most importantly, it will be a time to spend with my son.

Brutus, still keeping your bride in my prayers.  Adding whole family as everyone gets affected.  Remember, we serve a mighty God and nothing is too big for Him.

Well, I had better get to bed.  Never know when the pager will go off again.

God Bless,
Dennis

Afternoon.  Thunderstorms all around us and no rain here.  Massive storms down east where Mom lives.  Now under a flashflood warning down there.

Great, Doug W is chasing his goose.

Kurt, chasing his Dad's gas blower.

Eggs and GRITS are a great match.  They go together like a horse and carriage.

Dennis, best to Kim.

Serviced the 4 Runner this afternoon.  Put a battery in my truck [battery  was 7 years old this past March].   Worked up all the garden and "sidedressed" it hopping for rain.  Mr. Big [groundhog has not appeared as had .17 with me].  Resting up now.  Big explosion at ConAg plant in neighboring Garner NC where mainly Slim Jims are made.  Workers in hosptial.  Three still missing.  Plant employeed 300 workers.

Chat later

A quick cop of coffee and a few words while waiting for my son to arrive to help with some farm chores.

My son and I are allergic to poison ivy, oak and sumac. A few years ago my wife insisted we get the shots for the poisons. I was skeptical, but was surprised when the shots greatly reduced the chances of getting it. Shot is good for 7 years.

Mitch - I have a friend that believes if he worries enough about something when it happens it will not be as bad as he thought it would be. Seems to work for him.

Chief - I like the "table mussle" explanation. Sounds better than Dunlap's Disease.

RT - I seem to have a Yankee worm in my computer. I type the letters g, r, i, t and they come out e, g, g, s.

Morning all!  Well it's morning here.

Greetings from Sunny AZ!  Helping my Father around the house.  He found a gas blower in a yard sale, and it's having ssues when it warms up.  Read online it may be the diaphram in the carburator that pumps the fuel.  I'll try the carburator, and if that doesn't solve it, it's out.  Shop is $75/hour.  One half hour just to diagnose, and a new one is $150.

Nice drive here from MI.  3-days of 12+ hours of being on the road.  I have new respect for the truck drivers.  Instead of taking I-40 (Route 66) across, we went from Kansas City, MO west thru all the rural areas.  I saw more graineries than I could count, and a good deal of trains!  Interesting stuff!

Brutus:  Sorry we didn't have time to stop by for a visit, Dad wanted to get home.

Minor annoyance they now charge $2 to park.  And no one knows who initiated it, other than the property manager.  I expect will see all kinds of this stuff soon!

Yep, known as inflation, I am guessing that by the end of the year we will see that nasty monster start creeping up.

Good Afternoon everyone.  Well, wife broke a tooth yesterday, so had to make an appointment to see the dentist this morning.  From getting called in last night, I got a whole 3 hours of sleep before I had to take care of the kids while wife was out.  Just hope that tonight I don't get called in and it will be an early to bed deal.

Saw an interesting site yesterday, had three Georgia Southwest engines on a consist with a GM demo unit that was decked out in grafitti.  Then, coming past the NS yard this morning on my way in, were two CSX engines heading up a freight out of town.

Well, gotta run.  Hope it is a good one for Y'all!

God Bless,
dennis

Good Morning,

Had an early morning Dr. appt., everything OK, just a couple of follow up tests.  Minor annoyance they now charge $2 to park.  And no one knows who initiated it, other than the property manager.  I expect will see all kinds of this stuff soon!  Received notice that the sales tax rate going up in LA county, to 10.75% effective 7/1.

Hope every one has a good day and a special wish for family and friends with health concerns !

Afternoon all!

Well it is finally over. The last guests have departed and the helium is waning in the balloons. My daughter graduated HS last night, walked the stage, got the diploma, and is ready to go to nursing college in the fall. She has a summer job secured and all is well. Get to do this again in 3 years with the youngest. That is about how long it will take me to recover from the past week. Forgot to mention yesterday was also the daughters 18th B-Day - so we got the double wammy.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Regards, Roy

Home from north North Dakota last night, long day of driving (603 miles) and unbelievably boring, we have absolutely crossed off North Dakota as a place to live in spite of really cheap taxes.  It's a very good place to visit for two nights Thumbs Up.

Now planning final details of our bike trip to the Blackhills in less than two weeks.  My youngest son and I will leave from MPLS for about 5 days of glorius riding, very relaxed with only two big mileage days and really not that bad, 469 miles the first day and maybe just a little more on the last one, we'll see how bad he wants to get back to see his fiance.

Saturday night there was an EF tornado one mile north of our home, lots of limbs and branches to pick up today but fortunately no damage, that's a little too close, glad we were gone Whistling

Lots of good photos on SPF this week, thanks to everyone who posted.

Good Morning

Sun is shining, maybe 75 today.

Bill T. Weaver should have the parts you need, if not P&D hobby in Fraser Mi. will. It would be a good idea to order the gears that hold the chain as they crack under stress. P&D has a better gear that he had made for them. We use to change them before shipping, didn't want them coming back cracked. Well no big plans for the day, guess I'll just see how it goes.

Morning all. Grey and misting here. Cooler. Good virtual workout with Laz. Hope today is better for you, Buckeye. Great tip about the tape, Chief, I was trying to get a tiny part out of an old vacumn-tubed radio - using the wrong tool, but I'm going to try the tape idea tonight. That Magma Weaver engine sure sounds interesting. More move-work at work today - wandering the innards of a renovating skyscraper is fun. Gosh, Mitch, you guys are sure in school a long time.

HI GYZ,

Nice T sorm came through at 430AM.  Cooled things down.  Got my 3.5 miler in on the run this morning along with a 6.5 miler on the bike.  Now got to clean out turtle tank and the cut back all the spring flowers.  Going to get mulch later today so that is tomorrows project.

FIFE, BUCKEYE and CHUCK didn't need the stretch and being it was just a 3.5 miler this morn felt you didn't need it either?  I did walk dog earlier so you should of been warmed up?  Maybe dangle legs in water off the skiff?

CHIEF, no work for me just around the house.

Stay frosty,

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps near 80.  OMWUMNSFGH.  Edged the sidewalks last night.  Need to get a new blade.  Did weights and soccer juggling at the YMCA last night.  Did some Second Life and some eBaying.  Work went well.  Slept well after good ride in Tardis.  DonB, will get money to you.  Sorry for delay.  I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast before sending it to "Points East".  Chief, I can not verify the origins of zucchini bread, but pork tenderloins are a Hoosier delicacy.  However, (and I do know this, and this is not to disparage the wives, girlfriend, and/or significant others of any current or future member of the 'Coffeepot') the"saucy wench" does make the best zucchini bread I have ever tasted.  Truly "food of the gods" good.  Beacon is lit after soccer practice.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Morning.  Yes, I'm up early.  Got a middle school graduation early this AM.

Buckeye, just think, soon he will be telling you how to run trains.

Mitch and LAZ are about to have it made.  Bask in the sun and do nothing all summer. Whistling

Bill, get that W/S sealing rope.  A tiny pinch on tip of screwdriver will hold those screws.  If all that part does is hold the driveshaft and needs to be stopped from slipping, SUPER GLUE.  Good luck.

Got to go.  Later.

Don.....You will receive my check on Thursday or Friday.  With the birth, deaths and trips I am a little late.

Hard to get going today.  Was at daughter's house seeing the baby last night.  The Gold Lionel Hallmark Hudson is in his room.

The photos from my trip to the Southern Locomotive Museum are now on my website. See below for link.  The General was stolen by Ohio Soldiers during the Civil War while the Chief's great great great uncle was on guard duty.  Maybe it wasn't the Chief's uncle, but when they stole the train, the Southern Army had a training camp right beside the tracks across from the hotel where the train crew was eating lunch.

I spent the evening screwing down deck boards and bailing up cut tree limbs last night.  Deck is looking great, and it's nice to be able to walk on 3/4 of it.  There is some garden RR potential around this deck for sure.

Have a great day!

Got out the standard gauge and set up carpet central in spare bedroom.

Mitch, I did the same thing when the wife went out to Seattle for 10 days to visit one of the daughters. I set up the MTH Milwaukee Standard Gauge passenger set up in the living room on the carpet. Had a blast running that Standard Gauge set around the living room. Had to give the carpet a good vacuming afterwards to eliminate all telltale signs that railroad track was laid in the living room.
