S.J....Today is Saturday....Isn't it ??? LOL
Good Morning
Overcast and cool 60s again today. Global warming, yea right.
Yankee dining car(the word grits is not allowed) just pulled out. Eggs, hash, taters and toast. Guess I'm set till late afternoon.
As for the CTT ad does everything these days have to have someone object to it? Of course it was not a good idea for an ad but I believe the real meaning was father and son out for a walk along the rails together. God gave us common sense to deal with facts of life. I object has become as annoying as "breaking news". Friday the 13th is today so watch out.

Morning All: Nothing new on the job front. Weather here should allow some lawn cutting today.
Charlie: If you buy an opener from a big box store try to stay away from screw drive units. Go withe the tried and true chain drive or better yet the belt drive units by Liftmaster/Chamberlin. Stay away from Genie. Probably the only thing with progaming remotes to the one you got is the model/brand are not compatable. The proper transmitters are available but, you won't find them at the depot/lowes/sears. Your local garage door dealer will have them if hes worth his salt. All door operators today are built like crap and won't take any abuse so make sure your door works smoothly and is not heavy. You should be able to lift it with little effort with one hand, if not you will need to address that or you will just ruin the new operator. OK garage door opener 101 is over........................Steve
Morning to All,
Just a quick stopo to say hello. Have to go to school today for the PTA Carnival from 10:00 to 3. Will probably leave here about 8:30. I'll spend my day under the flusher, kids will throw a ball at a target and if they hit it I get a bucket of water on my head. At least is is bettter than a dunk tank. Last time I did the dunk tank, I ached for days.
Last night was our staff end of the year party. Very nice, no one had too many adult beverages, although one had enough so as not being allowed to drive.
Take care,
Mitch

It is been confirmed that Robert Glen Uhl, owner of Glen's Train Shop in Akron passed away on June 9, 2009. Robert was a very friendly person and pleasure to deal with.
Glen's Train Shop was a very unique place. Trains stacked everywhere and it was somewhat difficult to move around the store. However, if you asked Robert about a specific item, he usually could go right to it.
He will be missed.
Good Morning all, busy day, so I figured I'd stop in now or may not get to. Charlie, congrats on your son's big day. I am sure you will spoil him rotten! Go for it! Our's is next month, so I am sure he will get like treatment. It has been in the upper 90s here and in fact, the AC is going at this time. Makes for a lot of indoor activity and with all I have to do today, I hope a portion of that involves trains.
God Bless,
Dennis

Just a quick fly-by! Happy Birthday to your son, Charlie! Plans tomorrow so probably won't be back on here until Sunday sometime, so all be well and talk later tater! Tardis is on the runway and I'll leave the keys with Patrick on the return loop
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Rushed home from work tonight to mow the grass. Got home and garage door would not open...Finally got the door open..opener is fried. Neighbor was nice enough to offer up an extra he had...got it installed and adjusted..worked great. Only one problem, the logic board does not allow programming of any remotes, thus making this opener useless. Off to the Depot in the morning, have to go early, my oldests birthday party starts at 1. Lucas turns 5!
....I think this garage door opener experience is my punishment for ordering the new Lionmaster Big Boy

Quick stop by as wife and kids have gone to bed. Found out tonight that the bride has purchased a Lionel J.C. Trainmaster with TMCC for me for Father's Day. OF course, I did leave the add from The Train-Station on the table with the special $275 for a $500 engine, but at least she took the hint and didn't just throw it out. Well, got home late as case lasted longer than expected. I hate delays, OH WELL. Did get home in time to get some photos of a Rabit out in the side yard chomping on some grass. Regarding the add, a few thoughts. It was touching, but right away, I thought it was not a good idea. Today's modern trains can come up behind you and you would never know it as quiet as they are on the approach. Used to be, you could feel the rumble and hear those diesles roar for a good distance. So, they did the right thing. Now, if they showed some over growth and rusted top rails to make it like they were walking down an abandoned siding next to a main line, it would have worked.
Good Evening
RT reg. gas is $2.79, down from $2.98 a week ago.

Evening all took wife shopping and came home and had to move TV to livingroom. ( not fun heavy old 35" TV) well that was her birthday present that she wanted ( cable put in livingroom and TV moved to Livingroom). Glad that done. Bought 54" ceiling fan for Kitchen. That sounds like monday or tuesday afternoon job as don't have 4-8 shift those days on top of my 7- 3:30. Sooner or later want to put new fan in all 3 bedrooms. Kitchen didn't have one so it needs it.
$2.49.9 a gallon this afternoon for gas it has jumped .10 in 2 days. There back to it what they did last fall seeing how far it can go again befor theres a big enough balk.
Well not much in train news today did list some more on choochoo last night.

Just my about the "Father's Day Ad" and the publisher's follow-up E-Mail: When I saw the ad, it took me back to my youth and fond memories of my 'rural' past experiences. True, this is not a safe practice but some things are nice to recall. Again, just my .
Anybody see the Father's Day ad apology? I thought it was a touching picture.
Nobody with half a brain would walk their child into an oncoming train. Some people must be overreacting. Children walk along rural roads, too, but I never had my dad lead me into an oncoming car. Was a walk along a country road with my dad evil?
Get real!
Good Afternoon Y'all! Well, day is winding down. One case this afternoon that I have to wait around for, but otherwise, it has been mostly administrative work. While I am still on call, I have actually made some plans....hope to's anyway. Wife wants to head to the mall as she has a friend who will be having a baby shower tomorrow. I'll go and bring the kids to Books-A-Million to check out the train magazines, etc. After the baby shower tomorrow, I'll bring the family upto the farm as we have some blackberries to pick. I do hope to get some train time in while the bride is out.
Don and Ray, thanks for answering my question. I was not sure about operating practices in foul weather. Seems my railroad is always dry with plenty of visibility.
Have a great weekend and God Bless,
Good TGIF Afternoon!!!
Jim Phish - 2nd package arrived today!!
Got out into the parking lot and temp was 102 and it's not a dry heat for sure. Will be packing up from here shortly to get to the house and complete my mission there. I'm thinking it's HD time today.
See ya later

You were probably at what is now Cape Henlopen State Park near Lewes DE. An old Army Base. What's now the fishing pier was used to load munitions during WWII There are still concrete watch towers. Rehoboth is 5 or 10 miles south.
See ya next week
Prayers for all who need them

Banks, you sort of jogged my memory. We used to go to camp in the summer with the Virginia National Guard near Rehoboth Beach. Maybe you might know but I can't remember the name of that camp for the life of me. Maybe it was Bethany Beach? All I remember was that it smelled like a fish cannary. All this was back about 1954. We used to set up our anti aircraft guns on a beach somewhere around there and shoot at radio controlled airplanes (R-Cats). for targets. The soldiers would go to Rehoboth Beach on their week end pass and walk around taking in the scenery.

It is a muggy 63 degrees. Had some thunderstorms last night. Going up to 78 today with some rain later. This weather is getting nasty.
Today, I have some errands to run and then the usual chores around the house. I spent about 3 hours in the train room, yesterday. Ran all the trains. I need to pull some maint. on a couple of engines.
Dining car was here for breakfast. Cheerios.

Morning All: Sitting here waiting for the phone to ring. Last two days was applying at several places and now i'll see if someone has an opening.
Mike: Am I crazy or is there no netwofk coverage of the Indy Cars this year? Except for the 500 I havn't been able to see one race. Steve
Morning all. What a beautiful day. Better than our rainy, 3-hour-delayed baseball day of yesterday. At least Sox park has a gigantic covered concourse. We upgraded our seats to get under the overhand and saw an exciting game. This is a great place for train watching too - the Rock Island runs on one side of the Expressway, the CTA runs in the middle between the lanes, then I think its the BNSF or NS has their multiple lines on a raised elevation right along the parking lots. Lots of Amtrak and long, long container trains... Hope the middle boy had fun which is hard to tell with teens. I enjoyed browsing the website, Bob. That telescope is a beast.

Mornin’
Jim Phish – Got the first one yesterday....
Well, thank goodness it’s Friday....Got paid yesterday and already spent $100 on the cats for flea stuff. Had to buy a flea comb and washing cloths for them as well. Spent the first hour + at home right after work, taking care of the kitties. As Reagan once said, the bombing will commence in 1 hour....Wife has booked an overnight at the beach – ocean front...I thought was frivolous, but I’m not buying so I’ll shut up...The space shuttle goes up at 7:17 and being on the beach, should have a clear shot of the take off. It’s always spectacular!
We’ll put the cats up in the garage for the night, have the fans running to keep ‘em cool.
On to work again, I’ll keep checking in..
for those that need ‘em
