Pam just called.  FIL is responding to meds.  They still think it is a "tick thing".  Thanks for the prayers.  Did the Town Hall thingy.  Ate lunch and then watched a movie I had DVR'd and rested.   Seemed good not to have to be busy.  Took Lucy and Burg out.  Raining again.  Chat later.

Afternoon all. Moving a series of offices today. After all our practice and planning, of course it's full of screw-ups.  Praying for Brutus and Mrs. Brutus today and Chief's FIL. Happy B-Day Sir J!! May you enjoy many more!  Bob, glad you're still with us after your BP ordeal. Jon, quite a ride into WI, how far east did you go?  Dennis, there aren't any hobby stores in all of Beaufort County or Hilton Head. Nearest is in Savannah. Believe me, I thought of taking a boat over there when we visited.  Happy Anniversary CharlieRay, what a beautiful layout - i love that Seaboard train!

Chief, I am adding my prayer for your FIL as well.  Sounds like things are going in the right direction.

Prayers also for Brutus' wife and the others with medical problems.

Back to my usual routine this morning.  Still cool and partially cloudy. Went for my two mile walk and feeling pretty good.  My out of town son will return today from Oregon.  Flying into Burbank, then Metrolink to our neck of the woods.  I will pick him up at train station tonight.  Been staying up too late this week.  Late night shows not as interesting since Leno left.  Conan does'nt do anything for my interest.  Letterman is getting stale so I have to find something new to watch.  Went out in garage this morning to check TV in there to see if it is digital or what.  Well, it's not so will need a converter box if I want to use it.  I usually just use it for playing video train tapes for our meetings out there.  BTW spotted a tape beside the TV, stuck it in and low and behold, it was a beautiful tape of N&W articulated engines in color.  Great tape and railroad!

Laz, thanks for the complement on my engine picture.  I have over 30 but no place to park them all.  A roundhouse with garden tracks would be nice but I don't have the room.

Morning.  No need for soaker hoses now.  Inches of rain.  Flash flood warnings.  Will have to check the pond later.  "Girls" getting ready to go to hospital to visit their Dad.  Things to do [including trains].  May rain into tomorrrow.  Garden jumping and happy.  Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes for FIL.  Chat later.  God bless all.

OK, Let me see if I can remember all that stuff (Jack, really need your "Cliff Notes" of the Pot).

Chief, glad to hear the direction they are looking regarding your FIL.  Hope it works out and they can jump on that right away.

Charlie, congrats on 7 years!  Now don't get the "itch", just stick with it and know that it is where God wants you to be.

SJ, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!  70 is not that old, so long as you don't sit idle.  I have seen more octogenarians with an active life style than 50 year olds who's only activity is getting up 3 times a night to empty the bladder.  Hey, look at GHW Bush, jumping out of an airplane at 85!

Fife, glad you found West Marine early in your boating career.  Only problem, they are like the train hobby, more desires then cash in the pocket to pay for it all.

Bob, don't worry about the long posts from time to time.  When it is something as important as your health, or those you love, you will find an attentive ear here.  That is what makes this such a special place.  Glad you stick with your MD.  When one finds a good one, it is best to stick with them as they know you and know your history, so that they can put things together in a more informed method.

Brutus, continued prayers for your bride and for those caring for her.  Also, prayers for you and the family that you are able to deal with all her needs as well as the needs of the rest of the family.  This is one of those things that you all go through it together.

May God meet you at your needs,
Dennis

Good morning all,

It is a mixed bag of weather today (typically Hoosier).  Yesterday was a much, much better day.  Work went well,  the city picked up all the bush trimmings (although the stumps still make the yard look like Utah beach on D-Day), and I got to practice two hours with "my" soccer girls.  I also did weights at the YMCA.  I was tired but it was "soccer" tired.  Bob, sounds like you have had an interesting few days with the ticker.  Take care.  My Norwegian soccer friend is here!!!!  She left a voice mail for me yesterday, but I could not get back to her for a variety of reasons.  I left a message at the place where she is staying and hopefully we will talk today.  Tonight is more soccer and we are having a plumber over to fix several minor issues.  Again hopefully all will go well.  I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast this morning.  Beacon is lit.  Whose turn is it to drive?  Brutus, you do not have to drive until your wife gets better unless you want to.  Prayers going out to all who need them (and there seems to be more and more need for them).  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Mornin' boys.  Mornin' English.  Overcast and 66 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Can't seem to escape the moisture settled over Ol' Virgin-ya.  Still cleaning up after last week's storms.

Chief - No need for soaker hoses here.  "Air Force" - Laugh

MichRR ---> Congrats on the anniversary.

Ole Timer - Did you get any rail in WV?  Let me know before you head over the Potomac next time, and I'll route you in the right direction.  You are absolutely correct about WV folks, however I did notice a surge in south-of-the-border types on the panhandle...  Also, Pilgrim's Pride in Moorefield is pulling up stakes, which is gonna kill the region. (Particularly my SOUTH BRANCH VALLEY RR) Sad

jonadel - Kindly send that weather my way.  I have anti-skid paint that's been sitting in the box for 3 weeks.  I need a 3-day stretch of dry skies.

dwiemer - West Marine is fifey's new "candy store". Pirate

Best regards to those in need.

Hi guys, forgive my picture posting.  I'm still learning how to do this and this one was for practice.  I guess it worked.  See previous post. .  From left to right

E8 Seaboard Airline Orange Blossom Special from MTH, Baldwin VO1000 Original Norfolk and Southern Railway, ATSF 2921 4-8-4, N&W class J, Atlantic Coast Line E6 on The Southland.  All engines are MTH proto 2 except the SAL which is proto 1.  All except the ATSF were trains I saw growing up in Virginia.

Good night to all,

Ray

Well it is looking like today might be the first day in several I don't end up in a hospital or emergency room, course it's not over yet. So far the medications seen to be doing their thing, but it seems a bit like adjusting valves, a little this way and a little that. It's certainly a bit of an adjustment having to lie and sit around not doing much, not really the type of guy I am. If anything good has come out of this though, it's that it has been a bit of a reality check. dwiemer - I see my regular doc of over 10 years tomorrow. Been lucky to keep her thru all the changes. The cardiologist may do some more tests in the office, so that's all to come. At least now I have a good reason to use all that vacation backed up. I still haven't heard much about how going to altitude is going to affect this. Just have to see how this turns out and deal with it as it comes. Looks like I may finally get the train set up here at home. Something very relaxing about watching trains go 'round... Sorry about the long length of my first post on this, I tend to get long winded. It was just such a crazy ride that I thought I'd put in some of the fun details. Prayers and thoughts for those in need. 'night Bob

RT - thanks for the offer, but let me check ttender first.  I was kind of lost when I last looked at their web site.  They are organized by part number.  I don't suppose you remember the part number do you?

something like that your better calling or emailing him Jeff@ttender.com  a lot easier and quicker.

but not sure but this may be it ( took a quick look)

so you would have to paint it whatever color you want.

So you would have to paint it what ever color you need it to be but believe this may be it might want to cal or email him to be sure.

Good evening guys!  Wow, stay away for a day or two and have too much to catch up on.  Had a nice call with dbaker....good guy.  Filled me in on some printer knowledge...He's the man.

Bob, keep on top of your blood pressure issues.  They need to track down what the underlying cause is.  Also, you need to make sure you keep it in normal limits.  Unchecked, hypertension can lead to a number of other problems...never mind the intense headaches.  Regarding the battery of tests they did when you first went in, they do a 9 hour series of tests that they want to do a comparison on.  They can determine if any cellular death is occurring, and how much.  Obviously, that was not the case, but they needed to rule it out.

Buckeye, regarding that invasion by them Ohier Yankees on the peaceful railroading of the South, they were quickly caught and had their necks stretched.  Of course they did get the CMH posthumously, but that's a story for another day.

Well, getting ready for a little trip up to Hilton Head, SC for a meeting.  I checked out the list of Hobby Shops, and did not see anything that stood out.  If anyone knows of something worth taking in up that way, please share.

Fife, have you checked out West Marine?  pretty good folks that I have dealt with many times over the years.  They have a web site and will send a catalog.

Heading to bed.

God Bless,
dennis

Home finally.  Crazy day.

Rockisland is one week and counting on new Granddaughter.  Had friend killed by being hit by automobile.  He has had a tough couple of weeks.

8N, glad to see you back.

Bob, had the same tests and 6 bypasses later, doing fine.  I had lower than normal BP.  No heart problems.  Was begining to block up where arteries join up.  Could not stint.

Father-in-law was told he had cancer and was about dead this AM at tiny county [adjoining county] hospital.  CT later and found nothing.  He does have blood issues.  No platelets and low blood count.   Now in Durham NC next door to Duke [to me that is not good but only oncology bed available in the Triangle.  So wife had gone from bezerk to better.

Now to rest.  Long County Comm. meeting.  Fighting over the budget.  Three Demo's trying to raise taxes.  Three Republicans and one Demo stopped it after 3 hours of debate [which was a carry over from 4 hours of debate in work scession].  WOW.

Shake and Bake, lots of flies circle the expensive and rare box car.   Probably the Ohio official air force. Laugh

Later.

Man - didn't check the Pot for a few days and find myself 9 pages behind!  Music Man was on last night.  Think the 'Pick a Little, Talk a Little" number appliesWhistling

Nice weekend, mostly.  Several good thunder stormes though.  Mowed Friday and again Sunday 'cause it was forcast to rain Monday and Tuesday.  Other outside work, some inside work, and was distracted by 'The Spirit of St Louis' Saturday afternoon - Jimmy Stewart, 1957.  Always enjoy that one.

Stopped by the local hobby shop.  Pulled the trigger and put the Aerotrain on order. MTH claims November delivery.  Found out that he is planning on moving the shop to a new store with a little more square footage.  Offered to help him with his requisite layout for being an Added Value Lionel dealer.  We will see what happens with that one.  He wants to include some HO stuff too.  Didn't Lionel have a combination O/HO demonstrator layout in the early 60's?

Back to my notes from the 9 pages:

RT - thanks for the offer, but let me check ttender first.  I was kind of lost when I last looked at their web site.  They are organized by part number.  I don't suppose you remember the part number do you?

Summbob - Keep after your medical research.  Best to catch things and treat early.  By the way,  have you considered placing a pool table on one of the rotating floors in the observatory?  Would certainly add a new 'twist' to the game!

Chief - hash is good for any meal - my Yankee opinion, anyhow.

Helix on a layout - I'm tinkering on paper how to work out a decreasing radius helix like the mountain in Polar Express.  Lays out OK in two dimensions on paper. Lots of room required, and I'm worried about the grade needed to get the exit at the top to clear the loop underneath. A short train would probably be OK. Only problem is, I like to run 8 to 12 cars.... I'll have to mock it up someday.

Later all.

Fifedog ...those mountains of West Virginia sure are pristine and beautiful ... are'nt they ? Wife and I took a trip deep in the mountains there about a week before you did and will surely go back . Relaxing is'nt the word ... and the people were fabulous .... great country folks ! Only next time I won't forget to take my camera ... it really was a unplanned trip ... the next time we're going to plan it out ... but I think doing it on the spur of the moment  was better .
