 Good Morning All,

Had a restful night's sleep which is good.  Yesterday's meetings which I dreaded turned out better than expected. More meetings today.

Got out the standard gauge and set up carpet central in spare bedroom.  I can leave it set up until next Wednesday when my SIL comes from FL for a visit.  Maybe that hour or so of train running is what relaxed me so I could sleep so well.  Will definitely run more trains tonight. I love the ProtoSounds 2.0 with the station announcements and crew talk. The MTH Z750 transformer with the IR remote works well with this set. Nothing but an oval of track but still lots of fun, very different than running O gauge on the Broom Closet and Dustpan Railway. I've got to get out to the O gauge layout and do some cleaning and straightening like Sir J. Now that the temps have risen it so so hot out there when I get home.   I should look for a window air unit for the layout space. Wouldn't take much to cool a 5 by 9 space, or maybe a floor model?

Got to go, another day in paradise awaits me. Four more days with kids. Five more days with teachers.  Natives are all getting restless. They need a break from each other.

Take care,

Mitch

Good Morning All

Last night I pulled the shell off the Weaver Magma Mines RS diesel. Six of the smallest screws known to mankind holds the shell to the frame, should be a real treat getting them back in place. Anyways found the problem which could be a real problem to fix, most likely a call to Weaver will be needed. The Universal Coupling that connects to the extruding spindel of the Pittman motor is slipping on the spindel. Strange set-up, the universal coupling that connects to the gear tower is held in place by 2 super small allen screws but the universal coupling that connects to the Pittman motor spindle looks like it is just forced on, no allen screws. I don't even know if Weaver has parts in stock for this guy anymore, its around 15 years old. If Weaver can't be of any help looks like an unpowered unit in its future.

Don, I'm not punctual...at least until I can get time at home.  Back at the hospital for some time now.  Have had 3 emergency cases today/tonight/this morning....ARGH!  I promiss to get it on the way and also get that order in for the printer.

Was a good afternoon.  Well, at least for a few hours.  Got to the farm and picked green beans, then home for some tacos and back to work just as I was about asleep too!  Anyway, hope everyone is well tonight.

Reclinerized too long.  Oh no, Shake and Bake has his computer back on line.  8, thanks for working and keeping my Social Security coming.  I'm afraid LAZ is not working during the summer and it might decrease.  Now you have assured me that it will not.  Good Evening!  My vigil is over.  The Verizon guy showed up, looked at the modem, tested the line,  concluded the modem is bad.  Here's the rub, eventhough I am paying more than a new subscriber would pay, and been a customer for 6 years.  You want a new modem you buy it.  So after negotiation, we now have a new internet provider.  At a significantly lower price, also picked up additional TV programming.   AND the system SEEMS faster.  The only downside is teaching the wife how to us the new TV remote.  That will probably get me a few hours in solitude before its over.)

BUCKEYE, GREAT NEWS !!!  YOUR CAR ARRIVED HERE SAFELY IN ONLY 4 PIECES.  NO PROBLEM! I HAVE AN EXTRA AXLE, AND BRAKE WHEEL.  I CAN GET THE DOOR BACK ON OK, ( I think I have an extra door for the missing one.  I know I have a red one and a yellow one just cant remember which one is a automotive type, and which is the plugin.  Will let you know.)   I know I have a hatch cover for the top, its green but sure it will look fine.

Also received in the mail today, the Wake Weekly, will scale the page down so I can scan the page and post a layout picture of where it was located on the page.

Also received probably about 20 or so, envelopes with money, checks, etc..  Says a lot for the groups credibility!  Extremely punctual, I'm impressed!  You guys sure haven't wasted time.  More on that later!

More later, need to go and change the TV station.

Had to go back to work this morning to do my part to keep Social Security solvent.  Few storms blew through this morning, nothing serious, though.  Did rain enough that I did not need to water the vegie patch.

Lost bids on e-bay for freight car trucks and GP-9 dynamic brake hoods.  Oh well, try again later.

Wife and I saw Night at the Museum yesterday.  Enjoyable movie.  Never been to the Smithsonian.  Need to get there someday - especially the Air & Space.

Poison ivy is no fun at all.  When my wife gets into it, she breaks out in spots where she has had it before as well as the new spots.  Careful when you burn it too - you do not want to breathe the smoke.

Good chat with Brutus, RT, and SJ - missed Charlie.  Still cleaning out the USB port that I gummed up when I sent the pizza! That TMCC conversion discussion cleared some questions up.

I noticed that the local hobby shop got another Hogwarts Express set in last week.  Looks like he is timing it for the release of the next movie.

Is the expansion coach set out yet for the Hogwarts?

Good job Chief - poison ivy is no fun at all.  Dj/Doug - we took the kids to that movie a couple weeks ago and it was great, two thumbs up Smile  Wasn't feeling well today, but worked anyway.  Might as well get paid, right?  Just got on the computer tonight - chatted with RT, SJ, 8nTruck, and Charlie.  Good time and lots of good info.  Had some pretty bad storms here this morning, but no damage at home or work.  TARDIS is ready and sounds like we all weathered the storms, so on the way Laugh

Evening all. just put the front room together after the daughter and her friend spent the day painting it. Now to do a little work before bed. DJ, what an adventure! I hope to see that movie with my youngest. He loves the original. Those models sound real nice.  Chief, I am also super-allergic to poison ivy. Glad you got rid of it for the neighbors.

Good Evening

Storm just past through. I am trying to get back on chat line but this thing won't co-operate. The brown truck brought me a K-Line trolley with a circus banner on the side. I preordered it  last Aug 1st. Not very fancy but nice just the same. Banilla is ready for the Tardis ride. S.J.

Buckeye, you are a winner when it come to friends.  You will be rewarded.

Mowed the yard, weedeated the yard and pond bank.  Sprayed Roundup at pond [touch up of some places] and behind the fence here at the back yard.  Clearing it out as Mr. Biggie [he is a BIG groundhog] has moved in the the two holes outside my fence.  .17 ready.  Also helped neighbor with poison.  He can not recognize it.  He can now.  His son is very allergic to it.  Big section of his back yard is natural and covered and three trees covered.  We chopped the big vines into [some as big as a baseball bat].  Wifey had meatloaf, fresh cabbage [from garden] boiled with patotes [not from garden] along with deviled eggs [not from garden, that is for the Yankees as they do not know deviled eggs as Southern].  Also fresh tomatoes and cucumbers from the garden.  That is not a beer gut, it is table mussle. Laugh  Well time for another glass of sweet ice tea.  Just got my ice tea machine down.  This is late getting it out.

Later.

Just returned from the services for my buddy Tom.  He planned the service and what he wanted said.  As we filed out of the sanctuary, they played his favorite song, "A Horse with No Name."

Lately, I have heard some interesting criticism about "behind the scenes emails".  Well, I want to thank several of you for those emails with jokes, cartoons, photos and videos because many of them were sent to Tom to help cheer him up.  Thumbs Up

Afternoon, Y'all!

Been a bit crazy around these parts.  Worked camera last night for the concert at church.  The video is to be released for airing on TV.  Was a neat testimony from the lead singer and the song "While I'm Waiting".  Unfortunately, I wore the wrong shoes for standing in one spot for so long.  My feet and legs were killing me by the time it was over.

Had a morning case today, but that is over.  While I am now on call, I still intend to head to the farm to pick green beans with the kids and the wife.  Should be an experience as the fields are wet and muddy as well as I am sure the snakes will be around.  Will have to bring along a little lead to fire their way.  It is supposed to hit the mid 90s, so I doubt we will be at this for too long.  Think I will opt to use the truck as the car would never make it in the mud.

On a train related note, I did stop down by the yard in town and took some shots of the NS doing some switching manuvers.  They had about 12 engines all packed together.  I keep checking to see if they bring back any of the ones they did in the old "Southern" livery paint scheme.  Not for awhile...since number 4610 jumped the rails in Atlanta.

Hope everyone is having a good week,

God Bless,
Dennis

Good Morning,  Waiting........ Waiting.......  For the infamous internet guy to come or call that they are investigating the problem.  Suppossedly they are suppose to call and say they are working, then as they trace the signal from somewhere, and keep working toward the house.  If they find a problem suppose to call and say so.  Otherwise end up coming all the way to the house.  Last time at 6:00 pm I called and asked where are they, was told they fixed the problem at 8:15 am..  See what we shall see.

 Going to see about relocating a station on the layout in the meantime.  And possibly work on a couple of alternative ideas for the club layout.  A elevated track has been established that tranverses the layout.  The only problem is that it has a loop back and is forced to rejoin the mainline going the opposite direction of normal traffic flow.  So looking at creating a spur which will end up rejoing the mainline at the opposite end of the layout going with traffic.  The issue with that is it has to drop 16".  At a 2% grade that's like 66' !  So looking at 4 alternatives;

- 66' decline siding, returning to a different mainline.  (limits train direction on both mains)

- 50' decline which returns to the same main, but a steeper grade, (probably the prefferred)

- a seperate return line which involves a lift gate across a major aisle

- a Helix.

So will just see.

In the mean time I be a waiting !

Mike C, that is SOUTHERN food.  Drop it off. Approve

Bill T, get some lead fishing weights or old tire weights.  I use W/S sealing rope [from auto parts store, about $15 a ox and will last for years].  Wrap the weights in that.  Will stick about anywhere and also insulated the lead incase it comes in contact with electronics.  Try filling the fuel tans too.  That W/S sealer rope is good for sticking weights inside light train cars and that helps them hold the track.  Good luck.  Let us know if that helps.

Morinng all. Huge storms overnight probably by Sir J by now. Knocked the alarm off so I was late for work. Brent, have fun with the demolition - my fave part of any project. Brutus, hope blood wasn't shed in your battle with the drywall. I hate drywall... Hopefully the daughter will paint our front room today - I prepped it for her last night. Doesn't look like I'll be getting to the layout myself anytime soon.

Good Morning

Rain is here. 70s today.

The Weaver engine w/that drive system is designed to run at scale speed ony. It is a 2RS redesigned to work on three rail track.  It should pull ok but will NEVER run even close to fast.

I am going to do some more layout cleaning but I am still in one corner....S.J.

Morning, Guys!

Angel-         Prayers for Buckeye & Chief, Brent & SusieQ!

Sign - Welcome-         Welcome Bob!

Well, the trip went as planned, but for the evening rain, which my wife was not happy about.  We got an upgraded room from the parking lot to the pool side (missus want BEACHside – sold out and an extra $100!!)  Had dinner at Waldo’s (built from driftwood in the ‘30’s).

Visit to my Aunt & Uncle was too short but great!  Had breakfast at IHOP with my Aunt and wife.  Stopped at Space Coast HD for a shirt, alas , the hobby stores were closed.

12 hours of driving in 3 days was enough, I fell asleep about 6 and got up again this AM at 6:30.  Went to Tallahassee and back on Friday, so I’m wore out.

Sunday was the 22nd anniversary of my win at Pocono (We had a drag race on the track prior to the 500, which I won!)

OK guys, I’m caught up, so off to work I go....

Bill, who made the engine?

Chief, it was made by Weaver for the Gadsen-Pacific train club. I assume to pull their ore cars scripted for the mines in Arizona. Super light locomotive with dual drive shafts. I will pull the shell this week and see if any lead can be added over each truck.

Good morning all,

It is a cloudy rainy day in SE Indiana.  OMWUMNSFGH.  Yesterday evening I painted the tire swing and the tractor tire we use for a sand box, trimmed the trees between us and the neighbors, trimmed some trees next to the house, and helped the wife trim the rose of sharon bush in the backyard.  We left the trimmings for Lucas to pick up today.  Hopefully will be a quiet day at work.  Toe is doing much better.  Brent, praying for "positive" results!  I had the regular fare on the dining car this morning.  Beacon is lit and we can buzz the Chief's house again since he enjoys it so much.  May have to drop off some zucchini bread (and that is a rare delicacy coming from me) and pork tenderloins so he can have some 'real' Hoosier food.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Morning all.  Got grass to mow here today.  Also spray veggies, vines and trees.

Bill, who made the engine?  I have found that "light framed" engines can have weights added and the traction picks up.

Breakfast time.  Later

I posted a picture of my Magma Mines RS-1 on the Sunday Photo thread. Great looking loco, terrible operationally. Can barely pull its shadow, I will be taking it apart this week to determine if anything can be done to improve its traction. If not, will gut the driveshaft mecanisms and make a dummy out of it.

 Morning to all,

Made a fresh pot.  Had a relaxing day yesterday, we went to church then took a ride down to Thurmont MD so wife could scope out someplace she needs to go on Wednesday, kind of a recon mission. While we we were there I stopped at Catoctin Mountain Trains and picked up a loop of MTH Standard gauge track. Will continue to look for Gargraves at shows. $4 a section is easier on the wallet than $11 plus shipping.  I want to get the standard gauge set up in spare bedroom again. Of course it will have to come down when our son comes for a visit.  Once I find the Gargraves curves at a price I am willing to pay, I will make a more permanent,  slide under the bed layout on a piece of masonite. When we got home I reclinerized and watched the NASCAR race and then cut the lawn. All in all a relaxing day.

Well I better get doing, another joyful day of work. I hope my meeting today with the parents who are never satisfied is less contentious than last week.

Take care,

Mitch

Greeting from northern North Dakota, we are about 50 miles from Canada. Saying it's flat up here is an understatement, it's no wonder they have such sever flooding, there is absolutely no where for the water to go! It appears to be flatter than Kansas! Big day with a retiremeent service for my wife's brother, 42 years as a Lutheran Pastor, tremendous service this AM and a WONDERFUL pot luck at noon, over 200 for dinner. Great day with family on such a happy occasion. Heading home tomorrow, be glad to be in our own bed tomorrow night.

Howdy guys - missed Sir James tonight on chat?

Chief, that was us!  Mike was driving then, I think?  We were taking turns, because Sir James likes to do loop-d-loops and we can only take so much of that!  Our drinks get spilled all over the layout and big screen, lol!

Got the return air all ducted and secured - worked great!  Then, my drywall cutter (rotary tool) went crazy and screwed up the cutout on for the return air grill Sad  Tried to fix with another piece of stud, but that didn't work - drywall broke.  So, I put my fist through it to show it who was boss and now I have a skinned knuckle and a wife who is sure I'm over-stressed, lol.  Oh well, seemed like a good idea at the time, but I don't recommend it.  Need to replace a piece of drywall, but will have to redo the "box" that holds the grill while the old is off.  Live and learn.

TARDIS is ready and Charlie wants to drive tonight (on chat) - gotta do a flyover Sedalia and see 8ntruck's layout while it is cool out.  Banilla sounds good to me - here we go!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Well I got a K-line Williams GG1 in tuscan red on Ebay this evening suposely its scale as its 20" long and will run on O42 track well I will have a O54 on the outside when I get it finally built so Guess it will go there the next in will be O42 but think I rather run it on O54. It will be nice put the 6 MTH tuscan red PA passengers behind it. May down the road look into adding TMCC to it. That would make it great.

Not much else going on tonight should be in bed but can't sleep will try again in a few.

Bob Mitchell sent you and email concerning your gargraves curve standard gauge track.

Dennis Wiemer  sent you one also.
