Good Morning from Southern Ohio

Waiting for direction from the front office to pass out work.   Real foggy on the way to work this morning.  Tempted last night to bid on something on ebay, but I resisted!

Wes – The gel instant glue works real good.

Brent – It sounds like you’ve got some nice projects planned.

Mike C – Glad the toe is getting better.  Brings a new meaning to sticking out like a sore toe.

Chief – Continued prayers for your Mom & Lucy

DougM – bet you are glad the renovations are complete.

Buckeye & Laz – TGIF has a whole new meaning now I am on straight dayshift.  I am beat!

May God bless

Jim

okay, so I need a mocha or some specialty jolt.   greetings all - I'm new to this forum, but not to coffee (I hope it's strong).

collector of MARKLIN trains, particularly the glass tank car varieties, and the wine barrel rail cars  - both very unique

I think I may also look to a G scale point to point railroad in the near future.  some train puzzles occupy the evenings also.

so grab a coffee eh?  can I hang out and learn more about collecting ?

cheers, krump

 GOOD EVENING ALL!

Doug, Sounds like you've been pretty busy!!!!  NOW STOP BREAKING STUFF !!!!

Jack,  So you think, you got a pile of stuff coming in huh???  I'm surprised you hadn't shown her the difference between MPC and MTH !  And here I thought I would be lucky to get $1 each for some of those cars.   I was really surprised when she asked if she could pay with a credit card, but that was OK.  ((Possibly going to meet Ray this weekend at a train meet, he also mad mention of a Sale at a Big Train Store.  We will do fine,  I had a LOT of MPC stuff, I had never thought they would appreciate in value, Thanks Jack).

Chief, Sure hope You, your Mom, and Lucy get to feeling well soon!!  I would suggest checking out the grits, sounds suspcious to me.  Also, its obvious to me you are not eating enough CHOCOLATE.  I would suggest you start adding it your daily diet for medicinal purposes.

Frustrating news!  I'm going to need to add another show to our schedule, however the bad news is I need to get a HAM License, UGH !!!  Did the pretest for a Technician Level, (entry level), did fine with the electronic portion, but I've got to memorize all those darn frequencies, and band widths.  No fun !!!!

Good News !!!  I decided to play with the DCS Session recording capability.  Boy is that ever cool !!!  After having DCS for over 2 years and just getting around to it.  I have programed various switches, so could just select one button and a variety would change.  That was good !  But the Session Programming is wild.

I set up a 3 car train on a siding, and another 4 cars on a different siding.  Then brought the first train out, turned on some accessories, ran the train through a reversing loop.  Dropped the cars off on a parallel siding, then picked up the other cars on other siding.  Cleared the main line, then brought out another engine from the Engine Yard to pick up the first cars dropped off.  Took the first train back to through the reversing loop, and parked it in its original position.  Then with the 2nd engine took the cars around and dropped them off where the first cars had originally been parked.  Then took the 2nd engine back to the Engine Yard and parked it.  During this time I had various accessories operating, and sounds from the engines.  Finished the recording and saved it all as 1 session.  Played it back and it was AWESOME !!  Now the other capability is, IF you return the engines to their starting locations, you can not only play that session back, but ALSO put it in a LOOP mode, which will repeat the operation over and over.  COOL, EH ??   Love IT !!!  The length of a single session can be a maximum of 90 minutes in duration, or 500 commands.  I have no idea how many sessions you can record.

(I have my switches and accessories connected to the DCS AIU, and the switches in wired in parallel to the control panel, next will try with TMCC in the Session.  IF that works then Legacy.)

Hope you heal up quickly Chief and same for your Mom!

88 - I think I typed a question as to whether Susan was letting people know about the new job yet?  I did it in Word while I was doing something else and either I went nuts on that line or Word corrected some of my speeling, lol!  Sorry for confusion.

Got off work and went to Webster for family hair-do appointments at the Salon.  I'm all stylin' now Laugh  Got home late-ish and got on chats with Doug, then RT, then Jim (but it was really Charlie wearing his false glasses and nose) and then Charlie, lol!

Alright Tardis is ready and I guess I will fly again, gotta swing over and check out Doug's new roof first!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Wifey most disappointed that the CA boys didn't take her out shopping.  They were in hiding.  Out of revenge, one by one she raided Ray, DougDG, and DonB's houses.  Cut wires on their layouts.  Then loaded a few of their prime train pieces into her carry-on pilots' case and beat a hasty retreat.  Just caught a flight out of John Wayne to San Franchico.  Then catches the red eye back to Boston.  Wants me to pick her up at 6:50am at Boston Logan with the dog.  I can't wait to see the loot!!!!  Evil

Now Lucy has been sick.  Started throwing up.  She ran around as if she was being puniched and no one was scolding her.  Better now.   Dennis, maybe the first Dr [a lady] and I did not communicate.  I do not speak English with an accent from India.   Watched the new version of 3:10 to Yuma and was watching Rush Hour 3.  Going to give up.  Typing and codeine do not mix.  Was raining like a cow peeing on a flat rock.  Wind was blowing too.  Now calm and light rain.  Later.

 Good evening everyone,

Trying to catch up on the forum, read the last couple of pages but probably won't remember much as I write.

Chief, Hope you get well soon, don't want you to miss YORK again.

Worked on the grandson's HO mini-control panel today, got everything mounted and partly wired.  Had to take time out to make dinner.  The aluminum panel is only 3-1/4 X 5-1/4, but it has 12 toggle switches and 8 LEDs mounted on it.  It mounts to a plastic mini-box.

We also got some much needed rain today, .3 inches with more on the way Saturday.  Lawn looks greener already.

I got $1.94 for the metal scrap from the tramp - LOL. And even fertilized and put down grub-killer. Boyt the aerators looked like they disc'd the lawn. Getting ready for work tomorrow. Listening to the NCAA games on the computer and going to run a few trains afer finishing the laundry.

Doug, thanks for the information.  I am going to pass.  I have the command equipped Lackawanna set and it is very nice.  This does look like a good deal, but at this stage, I will save my money for a Legacy engine and some figures, etc. for the layout...York, Here I come!

Chief, hope you and Mom get to feeling better.  I have seen a few cases where we scratch our heads wondering why someone is on a particular medication.  Good that you are involved enough to know better and to get another MD in there.

Found out my parents will be travelling to the South in May for a short visit.  We will see them again in September on the cruise, but it will be nice to have them in town for a few days.  Been a few years since they came down.  Well, I have a early case, so I'll say good night.

Not me.  I was at Dr's office getting sinus infection meds.  Then back by Sears to pickup my pickup.  Sure rides and drives outstanding.  Then got call.  Seems Dr. at hospital gave Mom a drug for depression and etc.  Told her not to do it as Mom did not have that.  Dr, did it anyway.  Well, made her dizzy.  Been home about two hours and she fell and hit her head.  Caretaker and I are both mad.  Mom is back in the hospital.  Had CT and is OK.  New Dr. agrees not to give it to her.   This Dr. told caretaker to tell me to stay home and get well.   Don't bring things to hospital.  Can't drive anyway as on Leviquine and on codeine to keep from coughing.   Now to go back and reclinerize as can not stay awake.  should see my typing too.  Had to go back and correct a lot of spelling.

Buckeye--

I know this is a depressing time of year for you, warmer weather and NO snow so I have an idea.  If you leave right now and drive all night to Adel we could have breakfast in the morning and then leave for Denver for one last enjoyable weekend of snow and wind.  Lots of accidents in western NE on i80 because of blizzard conditions, that would be another big plus for our trip.  On our return trip we could do a slight northern detour and head north to the Fargo, ND area, we have family up there so we could probably help with sand bagging while it continues to snow.  What say you?  This is a wonderful opportunity Cool

If I only had not spent my vacation days taking in that warm, seventy degree, sunny skies of Arizona in January, I would have enough time to join you.  Banged Head

Don, I usually get there around 10:00AM and stay until about 1:00PM,  FYI there is also a sale going on this week end at the Train Shack in Burbank if you are interested.  I don't know if I will go there or not.

Good afternoon all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 60s.  Passed the last big hurdle with the toe as we were able to remove the existing bandages without pain or bleeding and replace them with new ones.  This is a remarkable contrast to the last time I went thru this type of experience (not that I would recommend anyone going thru the experience the first time!)  Now all I have to face is catching up on three days of work :-(   I had bacon and bisucuits courtesy of the "saucy wench" on the dining car for breakfast.  Chief, prayers going out for your mom.  Jack, regarding the toe nail fairy, I wish.  Beacon is lit if some one else is driving.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Patrick--

It wasn't Firefox or (insert your favorite ISP) it was CTT.

Thanks for the Info. Jon. Didn't think to try Internet Explorer. It usually doesn't work anyway.

I saw Bob K's post. Wonder if the "problem child" was a child child, or one of us oldies acting childish? My curiosity sometimes gets the best of me.Laugh

Doug - your wife's grandmother definitely was a Southern Belle. You don't want to mess with them Southern Belles! Shock

Dennis, I believe they are the same engines that I have in B&O livery, except mine had been upgraded to TMCC by the previous owner. All units are powered so they aren't bad as a puller. However I am not a fan of the K-Line tethers, the motors are horizontally mounted in the trucks and they tend to be a bit growly. Not sure but in conventional operation they may tend to be a bit of a jack-rabbit, no offense to Jack.

Couldn't find the C&O but did find my B&O, take a look at the link:

http://www.legacykline.com/apps/kl/catalog.html?useraction=road&p_road_name=Baltimore+%26+Ohio&p_oem_sku=K-25101

Chief, You never know about them older Southern Belles, my wifes grandmother went to a nursing home at 96 which required she give up her corn-cob pipe. Bad for your health, blah, blah, blah. Well she pitched such a fit that they gave it back, she lived to 104. I guess a Ky Hillbilly could qualify as a Southern Belle. Approve

Glad the site is back in the swing of things.
Chief, hope you are feeling better.  We have been experiencing that ran that dropped snow elsewhere.  That's OK as we really need it.

Been real busy lately and ended up having some tests done yesterday....kind they give you good medicine to go to sleep with.  Couple of things to deal with, but will get to them later when some biopsies are back.

For our friends with affections for the C & O, there is a nice K-Line passenger set on ChooChoo Auctions.  I had thought about it.  If I knew it was TMCC, I'd buy it, but probably better to save my coins for York.

Got some planning to do on our cruise and just made reservations for Hilton Head for a meeting in June.

God Bless,
Dennis

The plug was pulled on all the trains.com forums while something inserted by a problem child was cleaned up and sanitized. We're back at full posting speed.

 Hello all:

Raining today, all day. Great for two reasons. One The pastures need it, and Two less farm chores means more train layout time.

Chief - I couldn't get on to CTT either this AM. My problem was with Firefox. Wouldn't let me go anywhere.

Doug - You look great in that light blue suit.

Train room is a calling.

The last I knew, Wes told me there had been a horrible wreck on his layout with several pieces of rolling stock flying off and landing hard on the concrete floor.  He needed to purchase some instant glue, green paint and a new truck with coupler.  Shock

Probably linked to some retaliatory Suzie-Q drive-by snack caking.  Or maybe it was loaded with all the candy Fife has been sending.

Guys,

I don't think my car is in any danger.  I got an email from Wes saying he was so bummed out on the cold weather, he was taking my car down to a siding near the main line.  And since it has "Hollywood" on the side that some west bound freight would pick it up and bring him out west.  Told him to go ahead and give it a try.  Havn't heard anymore, maybe he is in Florida.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a wet 52 degrees. Rain all day and going up to only 55.  Yuk.

Today is a busy day. Lots of things to do around the house. I might as well get them done before we have nice weather. Love to be outside.

Train room is shaping up. Did some cleaning and such. I have to paint one wall, yet and put up some new posters. Should look nice.

Dining car was here for breakfast. Had the usual.

Y'all have a great Thursday.

Fife - Kind of... That looks more like a building that was built to be a theater. What I'm trying to simulate is a movie theater where they bought two buildings and renovated them into one to make a theater.  I could use that pic to get the 'cement center section' look, which I think would be pretty impressive. I have the Theater Marquee, so I really want to use that.

The Dept 56 Theaters I don't think will look right with what I'm trying to go for. The Hallmark theater won't look right either, but their ticket booth is what I'm trying to do something similiar with my theater (how the entrance is recessed into the building, with the ticket counter out into the recessed space with the doors on either side).
