Fife, I'm a little slow on the uptake but it finally dawned on me that your reference to 3:10 was about Yuma.  I don't think anything happens in Yuma at 3:10.  Too hot!

Morning all.  Cloudy and chilly.  Was going to do garden plowing and liming but got sore throat and fever.  Was going to stay in.  Got call from lady that looks after Mom.  Taking her to hospital for fast heart rate.   Will have to get dressed and drive east.  No rush as it takes time to get her in and etc.  At 92, she has done great.  Lady says she has been saying it is time to go.  Told her, not her decision.   Will hit the road but do not want to spread germs at hospital.  Also will be out in the rain that is coming this afternoon.   Big line of showers jsut west of us.

Guess Jack has not posted.  Probably too "busy" last night and has to sleep late this AM.  Whistling

Good Morning,

Rain started sometime during the nite and as we left Kroger this morning it decided to really dump it on us. Of course just barely raining by  the time we got home.

The Hogwarts coach I bought new for $19.95 is the second that I got off the bay at that price. Much less than Lionel's two pack. Coach numbers don't matter to me as I don't read them anyway. The pictures in the catalog are probably from a set but I would think the two pack will have new numbers.

Yesterdays little surgery is healing already and I was surprised it did not hurt after. Oh I can feel it but no pain. Tomorrow a visit with the M.D. and so it goes....S.J.

Morning all. Beautiful but cooler today - you know the economy is just terrible here when I can drive 50 miles in a little over an hour at the height of the worst of the rush hour when it used to take two plus hours. I love walking the Lincoln Park neighborhood - watching the L roar overhead - where's the Microsofties? Where's the free coffee? Oh yeah, I'm an hour early....  Great chatting with Brutus, Sir J, RT, Charlie last eve.

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 28 in the Mid-Atlantic region (for now), but a whopper of a coldfront (running from WI to GA) is creeping our way.  Oh, for clarification purposes, I didn't do a 3-miler with laz, it was more like a 2-miler...and I jogged a little.

cnw1995 - Microsoft has a dog-and-pony show...I love those.  Is it coming to the East Coast Confused

anjdevil - You've been pretty busy.  Did you take time to smell SPF?

MichRR - I'm trusting that your sofa is comfortable...

Phish - We never imagined when we were changing their diapers....

SPMan - Did that train really arrive at 3:10...?

Brutus - You did remember to where your old sneakers out in the rain, right?

88 - Didn't quite catch what your undies were in a bunch about, but change them anyway. Blindfold  And since the Q is working for the railroad, will you be buying a fleet of yellow engines next month...?

There. My work here is done.

Good Morning from wet Southern Ohio

Life is busy and I have been remiss in my attention to my train friends.  Beginning to get into a grove with the grandkids living with us.  Working straight day shift is 110% on the go all day, and the grandkids pretty well take up the evenings.  Not regrets.  The kids teachers are seeing an improvement in there school work and behavior.

Oldest daughter is applying for her “dream job”.  Editing, writing, and developing for a sewing, craft periodical.  Please keep her in you prayers.

GregM – When the loan guarantee comes through there will be a lot of jobs open up.  I will let you know as soon as I hear anything.

Jack – One of the things I have learned through out our “current” ordeal is when the is a substance abuse issue, the addict will not seek help until consequences are felt by them, the addict.  As long as someone bails them out, pays for bills, buys groceries for the addict, they will not seek help.  As a counselor said, real help starts when the addict has gone beyond the last thing you, the enabler can fix.  The sooner the enabler quits trying to fix the screw ups of the addict and let the addict suffer the consequences of their actions, the sooner the addict will seek help.  The problem is the longer we try to fix things the screw ups and the consequences keep escalating till the enabler can no longer fix things or makes the decision to stop fixing things.  Practice saying NO.  This is where we are at now with our oldest daughter.  PM me off line if you wish.

DougM – I have your car.  It is neat.  I am going to try and get some pictures for SPF.  Another area where I am remiss.

MikeC – Be careful with the toe/foot.  A couple of my friends have gotten some nasty hard to heal infections on their feet.

Brent – When I want to dispel some energy I dig.  Grab a shovel and move dirt.

May God bless

Jim

Morning all!

Brutus et al:  Sorry I missed you guys last night.

8ntruck:  Keep us posted about your trip to Michigan, maybe we can get the crew together for a visit.

Not sure about the day yet, need to get the girls out for some fun.  Sounds like rain outside.

I'm not lost, just not checking in daily.  Do I have to eat a bowl of grits for bad behavior?

Sir James - are your new Harry Potter coaches the new expansion pack or extras picked up on e-bay?  I took a look at the pictures of them in the 2009 ready to run catalog with a magnifying glass to see if they had different road numbers.  Didn't look like it.  That got me wondering why I'd want to buy two new copies of what I already have when they are available for a whole lot less on e-bay.

Laz - I've got some old rusty square cut nails I pried out of my kitchen when we re-did it.  They be of any help to you?

Brutus - We don't have any travel plans in the near future so, whenever.  Long term, I might be heading to Michigan the third week in April, and I will be going to Bowling Green, Ky. the second week in May for the Buick GS Nationals.  Both trips take me through St Louis.

Buckeye - I agree on the LED headlights for the BL-2.  The stock set up is pretty sad.  Adding an engineer and fireman will help hide the front motor.

Heavy rain today, then the temperature dropped a bunch.  Watched Dancing with the Stars with my wife tonight, then cut up some PVC pipe for a pupet stage for church.

'nuf's, enough.  Time for bed.

Had a great chat with some of the guys - RT, SJ, DM, and CS.  No problems solved, but lots of good fellowship.  Tired tonight, stayed up too late last night.  Gonna get down in the 40's tonight, then up to 58 tomorrow?  It was 70 degrees today though, until the cold rain came in.  Tardis is ready, Mike's out tonight so I think it's my turn to drive anyway Laugh  Kurt, I'll get you first man, glad I caught you on the scope last night after I forgot to add you to the list - mia culpa!  Ciao guys!

Everyone's going back to school, Brent, since they're out of work.  UoP is minting money. I'm jealous. The online thing is tougher though for both instructors and students. They think its easier.  Don, the great thing about that steel case is I could beat it into and out of shape. Imagine the racket. But pow-pow-pow and felt better ;)

WOW looks like Missy and Chrissy are having a tissy in here tonight! Fight nice girls. Wink

Actually I should be thanking Chief and RT for giving me a good hearty laugh... after 5 minutes of nearly needing to change my drawers I feel a lot better.

Jim - Got it, have to reread it... GTA4 sounds like it is up my alley right now! LOL! Kinda miss the old PC game 'Carmagedon' that was always good for about 15 minutes of stress relief. Smile

Doug - Not going to ask what's replaced the steel frame PC. Wink J/K

Susie-Q landed a position with UoP as an on-line instructor. I don't understand why people spend good money to get an education and then don't do the work... Whistling Guess the economy isn't impacting them like it is some others.

Evening all. Carpet in - no missing pets (or lumps under it, Brutus!). Even the mirror guy showed up. Wa hoo! Too tired to put everything back. Going to miss posting tomorrow - have to drive into Chicago to go to a dog-and-pony show with Microsoft - at least I get lunch. Chief, I like washing dishes - I've used one all week. When the rest of the fam is around, it's amazing how much they go through - we do a full load every day. Brent, hang in there - boy, I know that feeling. Used to keep a steel PC frame and take it behind the garage and beat on it with an old bat - felt good. Then the kids got bigger and that option wasn't very wise anymore ;) Jack, there's a  big circle of mud out back - instead of the beloved tramp - too bad it's on a slight incline. At least there's a park across the street. Sorry about the muck in the pond - that's disappointing.

well if you read the post from last night which you claim you can you would of seen he posted at 8:45 PM I guess your so full of grits your getting blinded by them nowSign - Oops

You must have a different Coffee Pot from mine.  I checked back past 8:45PM yesterday and no Coffee Pot post from him.  Sober up from your pain meds. Sign - Oops  I thought I might have missed it as I was "codeineing" last night.

I wanted to make sure he knew we wanted him around.  We [all of us] have a bad habit of welcoming someone and then forgetting them after that.  If they are a little "bashful" about posting, they get left out.

Went to Miss Edna's for a few while going to fertilizer store.  $84 in fertilizer. Shock  Came home aching all over.  I will get Buckeye, Jon, LAZ and Sir J.

Jack called right in the middle of wife and I getting documents up for CPA to do taxes on Thursday AM.  Had to cut it short.  Was good to hear from him.  Seems he had to get off the phone too as some dancing girls arrived at his door. ShockWhistling [him and Maxima are batching as his wife is in CA]

Now to pay some bills by computer and watch TV.

Too funny!  Laugh

Well, got home in time for a big rain storm.  Gutters in back were overflowing, esp around the downspout.  Banged Head  That one goes down to some of that black plastic gutter in the backyard, so I threw on a poncho and went out to check for critters in the line.  Nothing.  Eventually, I worked my way all the way to the roof - standing on a chair on the deck about 20 feet up in the air in the rain - yikes!  I had to undo some screws and was trying to pull the junction apart when - GLUG - there it went!  Found a wad of leaves and crud - might have been a birdnest?  Or maybe a mouse tried to build a house?  Anyway - I was completely drenched despite the poncho Laugh
