Good morning, all.

No whining from this Yank. I picked up my 2400 series cars last night and they are cleaning up real nice! As an added bonus, the hobby store owner had all the wheels and rollers cleaned with a Dremel tool. But they aren't just clean, they now look like chrome! Now that's clean! I intend to blacken the wheels chemically.

As nice as these cars are, I'm toying with the idea of restoring them with new paint. Then they will really look good behind my silver Williams 2023.

Gotta stop and get a hair cut after work this afternoon.

Good morning all,

It is warm in SE Indiana with temps in the 60s heading to the low 80s again.  Storms are moving in this afternoon and the temps will drop 20 degrees, but the weather should be nice for the first sectional game.  The boys finished their season playing one game but winning two.  The game on the field finished 2-1, but we found out an earlier loss to another team was forfeited to us due to them having an ineligible player (grades).  The boys finished the season 6-9-1, which was below expectations.  Maybe we will redeem ourselves by winning the sectional.  Lucas went to the game last night and enjoyed seeing a lot of his friends.  He is doing better.

As far as the "grits" and breakfast discussion is concerned, the best breakfasts made in restaurants are at McDonald's.  Three pancakes and sausage make quite a deal and they taste ok as well.  Of course, my wife's biscuits and bacon combination is hard to beat in the morning for home cooking.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training (Happy 75th, Dick Tracy!),

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a sunny 63 degrees. Going up to 83 today with sun and maybe rain later on. I sure hope not. I always thought you had to have a frost, first, before you had an " Indian Summer ". Hmmmm.

Today, I will stay around here and do a few chores. Maybe run trains to relax, later. It looks like a beautiful day in downtown, rural, Ohio.

I see Chief..is up to his old tricks, teasing people with thoughts of getting Suthern gifts in the mail. Like turnip greens and GRITS seeds. Poor guy.

Looks like there will be a lot of guys from Ohio at the Show Sat.  That will be like a big convention. Great times.

I am " All Aboard ", for the Dining Car. Breakfast.

Y'all have a great Wednesday.

It is to be another beautiful day here and it is starting off that way.

On the breakfast subject, Jim, do they still eat baked beans with breakfast in New England?

Yes. Baked beans are commonly served for breakfast here. I don't partake, but the rest of my family does. My boys love 'em.

I'm still trying to decifer the Chief's latest quatrain. I haven't a clue what he's talking about.

Good morning from a dark, sprinkly, warm, windy and rapidly cooling Chicago. Walked up to see the new niece again yesterday - it was good exercise and I got to stop in the Apple store on the way back.
I know this is going to be a great day because I started off seeing a rare freight on my commuter line straining up the minor grade from the east pulling full autoracks on the way to Janesville. It was massively late. Autoracks - especially the ones for SUVs - are pretty impressive close up looming out of the dark. Had a car for most every road in the US - including FEC and TFM! They must be the last refuge of the fallen flags too: Conrail, Santa Fe, BN, MoPac, Cotton Belt.  Had a NS engine in the consist. We now return you to our regularly scheduled program.

I've put some of the brightest minds in the world on to the Chief's latest quatrain. They had no idea, so I solved it myself. I now know what it is he's talking about. I know the what he's refering to. Mine is to be delivered.

Doug, With all the grits flying around I forgot to congratulate you on the new niece. Congratulations!

It looks like your weather will be here tomorrow, will enjoy our nice day while I can.  Got some parts to prime outside on my crane & tender project.

My son & family made a brief stop in Chicago yesterday on their flight to CO.  Didn't get to see anything except the inside of the airport.

As Chuck would say off to the dinning car for lunch.

Laz, Diecast Direct used to carry a corvair in either 1:43 or 1:48 scale. Don't know if they still do or not.

A splendid day out there. I just returned from my lunchtime walk and hated to come back. My 2423 Hillside observation car is cleaning up real nicely. I'm using some Turtle Wax polishing compound to remove the dirt and oxidation. It's giving the car a wonderfully realistic sheen. It looks just like stainless steel. So far, so good.

Mornin' All !

All this talk about breakfast is makin' me hungry. When I'm cooking one of my fav's that the rest of the clan likes is for me to crisp cook some bacon and crumble it up add it to the waffle batter and as soon as they come out of the waffle iron top'em with real butter and real maple syrup. Mmmmm Good !

One of my fav's is to go to a little mexican place, been there since mid 40's and same family owned, for breakfast enchiladas. Corn tortillas stuffed and rolled with scrambled eggs crisp smoked bacon and topped with a verde sauce, sour cream & guacamolle served with beans & rice and warm flour tortillas with butter and honey. Oink, oink, oink ! After that it is time for a siesta. Approve [^]

If the Chief is gonna be in Milwaukee, you don't think he would try to taint some of Milwaukee's finest beer with grits do ya? Shock [:O]

Bob Evans in Fl has grits on their menu if memory serves. Smile [:)]

My favorite breakfast includes 2 fried eggs over medium, sausage, bacon, fried potatoes, pancakes and syrup, wheat toast, and tea.

I get that once or twice a month. Monkey Heaven!

I'm heading out to get ALL my hairs cut (Laz). Backdrop painting tonight. I hope.

See you all tomorrow!

Afternoon guys.  I just ordered the set of 5 trucks from East Coast Train Parts.  Nice deal, 5 trucks for $25.00.  He told me that the set as you see on pg25 of CTT, is not available as he sold out of the pickups.  He will substitute any of the other trucks though, so I got a second Box truck in a different color.  Seemed like a good guy and he knows some of my friends.

On the breakfast, for me, it is a good dish of Biscuits and Gravey with Grits on the side and hashbrown casserole.Dinner [dinner]

Hey Jim, on the 2400s, I would not repaint them, I would just clean them up and pick up one of the NYC expansion sets for under $100 to go with the new engine.  This way you retain the value of the 2400s and also have something nice to pull with your engine.  Besides, it means more trains, and how can that be a bad thing?

Cool trucks!  Good luck on the flights Marty, glad I don't travel anymore.  Had to go to Washington DC every other week for a few months about 10 years ago and it got pretty old pretty fast.

My favorite breakfast used to be fried mush that my grandma Nana made - she'd make cornmeal mush in a bread pan and refridge it overnight.  Then, she'd carve off slices about 1/4 inch thick and flour and fry them in a skillet until brown and crispy on the outside.  Then she'd serve them with butter and syrup!  Yum!  Now, my favorite is pancakes I make for me and the kids, usually on Sunday morning.  I gotta admit, those waffles of Dougdagrumps sound GREAT with the built in bacon!  We mostly eat turkey bacon now though.

Went out to dinner with friends last night and didn't get home until pretty late for a weeknight.  Joked with their son about spitting on his birthday cake when he was going to blow the candles out and he went and spit on it!  Man, his dad was really mad!

No CTT yet.  No Lionel Transylvania Docksider, Animated Gondola, or Caboose yet either.  An-ti-ci-pa-tion (singing a little sadly)....

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
